Alyssa’s POV
The environment looks beautiful. When we entered, I was feeling this creepy vibe and a sense of belonging but I shrug it away after all it is my parent’s town. Not quite long, the car stopped.I pressed the windows’s button and the window rolled down for a better view of the environment, since the window looks blurry.
My mouth gaped open in admiration at the sight of the building in front of my eyes, the building is huge, magnificent , it is well structured. It looks as if they spent years in building it. It’s so beautiful.
I was still admiring the house until the statement uttered by my dad jolt me out of my thoughts.
“Welcome home.”
“Wait what? This is grandpa’s house ? ” I asked in surprise.
“Yeah, it’s still look the same as I left it as far I can remember.” He said and shrugged like it is nothing.
Okay this is not what I was expecting, I was expecting a small cottage or an hut surrounded by chickens, cow, pigs you know all those farm animals, everywhere will be filled with mud, maybe no electricity, water. Okay that’s one is a little extreme, I did not come here to suffer. I was just expecting maybe a bungalow or a duplex not a freaking mansion or did I really die and wake up in heaven ?
“Anyways, I will go in to inform them about our arrival while you guys should wait here, okay ?” My dad said
“Okay dad.” I nodded my head.
My dad nod his head then walk away leaving only me and my mum.
Then silence came which do creep me out. This is the time I really need a sibling or someone to disturb, but there is no one. I’m bored, is my mom really annoyed with me ? cause other days when we are alone, we joke a lot, now she is quiet.
I looked at her with a sad look.
“Hey mum.”
“Why don’t you bring your luggage down since we have been staying in the car for a long time so you can stretch your leg.” she said without looking at me and walk out of the car.
I sigh and came out bringing out my luggage. I looked at her, a moment of now or never to ask.
” Mum are you angry at me ?”
“No, why do you think so ?”
“Well, you are not your usual self and you are not talking to me. If it is because of the incident that happened at home, I’m sorry. It is just that I really want to come and you were trying to stop me from going for no reason. Look at this place, it’s heaven or did I really die and wake up in heaven ? I could stay here forever. Why do you ever leave mom ? “
Immediately I said that, her mood instantly change. I mentally roll my eyes. Her and her change of mood. I better apologize quick. Is that what I’m even suppose to say, silly me.
” What I want to say is that I’m really sorry for talking back at you rudely.”
“There is no need for you to apologize to me. I am the one who ought to apologize, I am the one trying to stop you from fulfilling your destiny, I’m….
Who told this woman I want to fulfil destiny here ?
I face palmed myself.
“Mum, when I said I’m going to stay here forever, I don’t really mean it, am just staying for some time with grandpa and I will be back mum. I’m not spending my eternity here, I’m no more little again but I’m still your girl.” I smiled at her.
“Corel town really looks like heaven but it is not. I left to protect you and I can’t bear to lose you, I was only trying to stop you from coming here to protect you but I tend to forget you are not a little girl anymore, my little girl.” tears filled her eyes as she said that.
“Protect me from what mum ?”
“This world.. ” She said looking round. ” It is different from the outside world, it’s so different.” Her voice trailed off. ” I hope you will be able to cope in this place, I am sorry for keeping you away I was just only protecting you.”
Okay, this is getting emotional.
I don’t even know I was crying till she wipe it with her hands. Not my fault, I was flowing with emotions.
” Hey, don’t cry okay ? I am not going stop you okay. So take your place.” She said trying to smile but it is not working.
“You know mum, what you said just now made me remember my dream. A voice was chanting take your place great one.” I told her, wiping my tears using my hands.
“You do dream ? ”
I nod my head. “Yeah , and it is terrifying. Sometimes I dream about the world being destroyed, commotions everywhere then I saw me, myself, but my hair colour was white, my eyes were glowing. I looked different in a way that I couldn’t actually recognize myself but I felt that was me and I was in the middle of no where. Everything there was destroyed. I can’t seem to remember all the details, it’s weird.”
“And you did not tell me all this!” She shouted in despair.
“Well I don’t see the need of telling you, my nightmare is the consequence of watching horror movies in the before going to bed, I really need to stop watching.”
“How I wish it was like that, but it is not. Promise me you will be safe and promise me nothing bad will happen to you.” She said with emotions in her eyes cupping my cheeks.
“Mum, I am not going for war.”
“Just promise me.”
“I promise, mum.” I smiled at her.
She unhooked her necklace and put it on for me, there were symbols inscribed on the pendant and it makes it looks beautiful.
She smiled looking at the necklace on my neck ” It fits you more. My mother gave me this necklace when she left, she told me it is a lineage necklace. She said it makes you feel the power of mother nature but I feel her presence when I’m with the necklace anytime I miss her. So you better don’t lose it.” She said in a warning tone.
“So why did you give me ? ” I asked her while touching the necklace using my hand to trace the symbol, it looks like it was glowing anytime I touched it.
“It is an assurance to me that you will be safe and mother nature will surely protect you.” she smiled.
” Mother nature ?”
“Yeah, that’s what my mother told me.” she shrugged.
“Okay, I love you mum.” I pecked her forehead.
“I love you too.” she hugs me
We heard a little cough , we turned towards the disturbance which made us to drift apart.
I heard a voice that sounds familiar which made me turn.
“I’m sorry, did I disturb your lovey dovey ?”
“Grand pops.” I screamed as I rushed to hug him
“You did not inform me that you are coming today, I could have prepare for you.” He said pouting.
“I am sorry.” I said feeling guilty.
“Anyways how are you ? “
“I’m fine.” I smiled at him.
“Greetings to you father.” Mother said using her right hand to her forehead while bowing
“Greetings.” Grandpa raised his hand to greet her back.
“Is that the way you guys greet here ? ” I asked.
“I see you did not teach my granddaughter our culture, Tonia.” he said her name with disdain while adjusting his glass.
“I did not see the reason, dear father in law, never thought she will ever come to this place.” Mum said with an eye roll.
“Can’t you thin….” I quickly cut him off, it seem grandpa and mum don’t like themselves.
“Mum do tell me about this town, I’m eager to know, besides that’s the reason I’m here. Also I am eager to enter inside, its been a long day.” I said stretching my body letting out a fake yawn.
“Okay let’s go inside, can I ?” He said gesturing towards my bags.
“There is no need, it is kinda of heavy.”
“Well this old man is strong enough to carry heavy things.” he said showing off his muscles then took the bags.
Grandpa does not even look old, he looks like he is in his thirties and mum told me grandpa is in his 70’s. It did not even show. I wonder who give birth to who, my dad look like a retired police officer. We entered the house, wow it looks more beautiful than the outside. I am still wondering if I really died.
“Welcome young madam.” They chorused.
They align at the left and the right dressed in the same uniform.
“Hi.” I waved at them as I couldn’t mutter any word in shock, one of the maids quickly went to meet grandpa and collected my bags from him.
“My baby!!!” Someone squealed like literally squeal. I was twirled around making me feel dizzy, I think I’m going to faint.
“Hey Nana” I smiled at her trying to get myself as I felt a little bit dizzy.
She rained kisses all over my face, I giggled.
“I can’t believe you are here--”” I also can not believe I’m here.” I said in my mind.
--when the maid first told me that my son is here I was excited but when your father told me you are the one, I was overexcited.” She said smiling.
“You look so beautiful, now I know beauty truly runs in the family.” she winked at me.
“You must be exhausted, go have your rest.” She called a maid.
“Lead her to her room.” She ordered the maid then she turned to look at me. “Follow her, she will lead you to your room, let me go and see your parent.” she said as she walked towards the door, she stopped and turned towards me “Alyssa.”
“Yes Nana.”
“Welcome home.” she smiled at me then walk away
I smiled and look round the house and said to myself
“Yeah, I’m home.”As Alyssa's father approached the imposing gate, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of nervousness. Sixteen long years had passed since he last set foot in this town. "Time really does fly," he mused to himself with a chuckle. He had never thought he would return, but here he was, spurred on by his daughter's desire to visit her hometown.Summoning up his courage, he rang the bell. The rich, exotic sound of the bell confirmed what he already knew: the owner of this property was wealthy indeed. The room was painted white with stunning murals hand-painted on the burnt orange and red walls. The furniture was rustic and dark, complemented by vibrant cushions. I had never seen a room with so much furniture and so many hues. The white velvet curtains hid the long windows across the room, leaving only a shy peek. • Alyssa's POV As I walked towards the source of light, I couldn't help but wonder what was causing the tree to glow so beautifully. "Is it Christmas already? Or maybe there's a festival going on?" I mused to myself. I looked closely, but I couldn't see any source of light. It was as if the leaves themselves were glowing. As I got closer, I noticed a line drawn on the ground. Just as I was about to cross it, an old man appeared out of nowhere, using a stick to support his walking. He was dressed in a white garment, and his tone was deadly, yet calm. "Don't you dare cross that line unless you want to be dead. What are you doing here, child?" he asked.I was terrified, and I quickly apologized for coming there out of curiosity. As I turned to leave, he called out to me. "Wait." I turned back to face him. He was looking at something, and I realized it was my bracelet. I quickly hid it behind my back."I'm sorry, sir, but I cannot give you my bracelet. It's really precious to me. My mum i
After my grandma left, I leaped into action and got ready for the day. I slipped into a red striped pleated skirt that flared with every twirl and a red long-sleeve top that made me feel like a superhero. My mom dyed it to auburn when I was young, and I've kept it that way ever since. As I was combing my hair, I suddenly remembered the dream I had last night. It felt so real, like it actually happened. It's been two weeks since I arrived, and I must say, these past few days have been nothing short of interesting. Alex and I have gotten really close; he took me on a tour of the town, which was informative and eye-opening. I discovered that this place is home to several supernatural creatures besides werewolves, such as lycans, chimeras, vampires, witches, fairies, and many more that I can't recall.Alex also revealed that our grandfather is a descendant of Zeus, which makes him revered as a god, given that Zeus is a Greek god of lightning, sky, and thunder, like a weather god. That's why he freaked out when I followed him, but that's a story for another day.I stood in front of the mirror, combing my hair, feeling nervous.
