Chapter thirty-six

After that incident, I still couldn't be at ease. I wanted to tell Matthew to let someone else help him, but Matthew disagreed.

All that night, I was still afraid. By the time Mr. Brown returned, my fear was greater than ever. Mr. Brown had always been concerned about Matthew's legs, if he had known I almost made Matthew fall, I wouldn't have known how angry he would have been. Mr. Brown was fastidious and difficult to approach, since I married Matthew until now, the number of sentences he had told me could only be counted on the fingers.

During the meal, the family members did not talk to each other as usual. Mr. Brown was always acting not too friendly but not as cold as usual, I really didn't know if he knew about it or not.

When everyone had finished eating, Mr. Brown looked straight at me and said seriously. "Next time remember to pay attention when walking."
