Chapter one hundred and twenty nine

When I received Alden's call, I was a bit surprised. He had never called me before. Even when he hated me the most, he didn't call to bother me. Why was he calling me? That was what caused me to have a lot of doubts. I suspected he had no good intentions.

When I woke up, I heard the phone ringing. Out of habit, I immediately picked up the phone. In the past, I rarely answered the phone when an unknown number called because those calls were mainly promotional calls, but later on, my relationship was a bit wider. I often didn't ignore calls from unknown numbers because I was afraid I'd miss important information.

When I picked up the phone and pressed the listen button, I didn't think much of it. Just thought if it wasn't a promotional phone call then it would be a phone call from a friend or someone recommending a job to me.
