Theodore
My heart beats into my throat as I have my stomach churning repeatedly.
The petite woman at the reception glances over to me from time to time and I always manage to catch myself and flash her a smile.
At least I hope so.
And I hope I don’t look like a creep.
A man in an elegant suit shows up, reaching me with a kind smile and I get up, shaking his hand. “Mr. Baxter, welcome to the Hel Company. We are pleased to have you here.”
I just can’t wrap my mind around how fitting the company name is after what the regular customer told me.
“Thank you for having me,” I answer, pulling at my tie to make sure it didn’t shift as I follow him.
But how many times have I heard that sentence before, and how many times they were, indeed, not pleased to have me in their offices?
I still wonder what gets them to invite me.
At least, I know that in this case, it was a recommendation.
He leads me into the meeting room, and I keep myself from staring in awe as I look around, admiring the artwork hanging in the luxurious room.
“Please, feel free to take whatever seat you’d like to,” he offers, gesturing with his arm.
I clear my throat as I take my seat, repositioning my tie. “Thank you.”
“So,” he starts, filling two glasses with water. “Why don’t we start with you telling me about yourself?”
Clearing my throat again, I start reciting my usual presentation, where I come from and all the places I worked with. For this job specifically, I thought about what I could say to cover my missing experience in tech and found a few points with which I can enhance my ability to learn fast and shows an affinity for the job.
The interviewer smiles the entire time and after having asked a few innocuous questions, he pulls out the heavy ammunition.
“I’m sorry,” he says, still in a polite tone. “But even if we were impressed by your CV, we really want to know why you want to work in tech support as you have never worked in it. We are not quite sure if you could live up to our expectations.”
Why did you fucking summon me then?
My heart gets pierced by a stinging pain, and I shift in my seat to cover my fear of failing once again. “Well, I’m ready for a new challenge. When I heard about your job offer, I knew that I could do it, otherwise I would never have applied. I know that I might miss some kind of expertise, but I’m a hard-working guy. Ready to go the extra mile to succeed in my job.”
He nods, his sympathetic smile motivating me as I reposition in my seat. “If you hire me, you can be sure that you have a dedicated worker as a part of your team. I heard that this job requires a lot of dedication, and I don’t need much sleep.”
Grinning, I roll back my shoulders, playing the ace up my sleeve.
“That sounds fantastic. But we are still a bit doubtful about your tech knowledge and the ability to support the CEO from day one,” he says, and at this point, I just want to wipe his stupid smile off his face.
Sadistic little asshole.
Renewing my smile, I acknowledge that at this point, I just have to make it through this horrific interview and I can get drunk at Alex’s bar.
Maybe that’s my sign to get laid and I’ll finally make it into a gay bar.
I figure that he is pissed because he had to interview me. After all, I got recommended by a co-worker, so I just push my pride down. “I understand your concern, but I’m motivated to go to courses and do some self-studying on the matter while starting out here. With my knowledge of mechanics, I’m sure that I will get into–”
The door opens, making my heart drop to my stomach and I swallow the words I was just planning to say.
The interviewer looks at me with furrowed brows before turning around and flicking his fingers. “Ah, great timing, Mr. Helades.”
He stands up, gesturing towards the armoire of a man who just walked in. I do the same, my jaw still on the floor as I skyrocket out of my seat, hitting myself against the table.
“Ni– Nice to meet you,” I stutter awkwardly as I hold my hand out to him. “A– And thank you for this opportunity.”
He looks at my hand with a disgusted expression before opening the lower button of his jacket to sit down.
Wiping my sweaty palm against my pants, I sit down feeling like the biggest idiot ever.
As he studies my file while the interviewer chatters along, I get to observe him closer.
I must be damned and out of my mind but I’m a hundred percent sure that it’s him.
He clenches his jaw as he studies my certificates with an unimpressed expression and the fantastic flashback of those juicy lips wrapped around my cock resurfaces in my mind.
My heart flips in my chest as the voice of the interviewer fades into the background, my mind getting more and more sure about the fact that it is him.
The man from the shadows.
The man who has been haunting my dreams for weeks and months is now sitting in front of me.
The man who hasn’t left my thoughts even for a second, fueling all my desires.
He is the CEO I would be supposed to work for, giving my soul for an insane pay.
And God, if you ever get to do something for me, I beg you, please!
Let me be his little bitch.
I am just about to say something to him, my mind racing as I’m sure of the thought that he did recognize me on the CV and wanted to see me.
That it wasn’t because the regular had told HR.
“Why did we invite this one, Brad?” he asks in an annoyed tone, shattering my stupid hopes in one blow.
His deep voice makes me shudder pleasantly, causing him to look at me with a raised brow.
Can it even get more embarrassing?
His voice is exactly how it sounded in my dreams. Deep, raucous, domineering.
“His CV was sent to me by Helga from HR. She thought he would make a good match,” Brad, the idiot interviewer answers.
Mr. Helades turns his head to me, sneering. “You haven't got a single bit of experience!”
I wet my lips with my tongue, feeling like the air has been pushed out of me with a punch into my stomach.
“Yes, but as I was saying–” I start but he interrupts me right away.
Pushing himself off the table to stand up, he glares down at me while closing his button back up again. “I’m not wasting my time here.”
He leaves the room, leaving me behind to stare after him agape.
“Well, I guess you will hear from us,” Brad says in a good mood, and I flash him a sarcastic smile.
“Thank you.”
Asshole.
Theodore I lean with my teeth against my glass, my lips sucking at the droplets lingering around as Alex stands in front of me. “You are pulling my leg,” he says, crossing his arms. I point my finger at him, moving my thumb as if I was firing a gun. “No, it was the absolute worst,” I say with a sigh as I disconnect myself from the glass. He repositions on his feet, signaling one of his customers to wait for a second. “They knew who you were. They had your CV. I can’t believe the CEO didn’t look at it before he called you in. What a wanker!” “Total wanker!” I confirm, taking a big gulp from my beer, emptying it. “I need another one, Axshl.” He laughs, taking the glass from me. “You are so drunk, but after you told me, I can’t possibly tell you to slow down.” “Right! The hell you can!” I say, clicking my fingers. “I’m the greatest loser of them all!” Stumbling from my bar stool as he brings me my beer, I regain my balance with a little dance. A few drunkards left in the bar cl
Theodore He lifts his hand, looking at me annoyed. “Are you some kind of Casanova?” “To be honest,” I say, pursing my lips and scratching my chin. “I have the face for it.” “Ugh,” he pushes out as I look around his office. It is furnished as he is and screams cold asshole with money from a mile away. Closing the door behind me, I step in front of his desk. I clear my throat as he looks up at me bored and I pull myself together not to lose my shit again.“Listen, Mr. Helades, I’m deeply sorry about what I texted you last night and it won’t happen again. I apologize for having been rude and surely what the N stands for is none of my business.” “Is that all?” he asks, again not seeming impressed with what I had to offer. This is the worst. “I’m really sorry. It won’t happen again as I don’t have money to drink anyway, so your mailbox is safe.” His eyes burn into mine, making me ramble along. “Also, I have been experiencing some very bad sleeping issues, and even if I don’t know
Theodore I must have passed out happily after several orgasms as I get startled awake in the middle of the night. The vibrating toy that was still in me gets pulled out, and I feel a strong hand wrapping around my throat. He cuts my air shortly as he pulls me up against his chest, growling into my ear. “Is that enough for you?” “No,” I say feebly, looking at the sex toy he is turning in front of my eyes. Gulping, I watch him throwing the toy onto the bed. “I could give you more,” he says, making me tremble. “Do you want more?” I nod as much as his hold allows me to, my body shuddering in pleasure as I think of finally getting his cock and maybe even touching him. He passes his tongue up along my neck as he chuckles, “I saw you doing the same thing yesterday. So, I didn’t imagine it.” My eyes roll into the back of my head before he pushes me down, taking the lubricant from my nightstand. The squirting of the bottle reawakens all the nerves that were still sleeping in my body
Theodore I think I’m going insane. “Are you listening to me, Theo?” My mother’s shrill voice risks bursting my ear drum as I rip out the drawers annoyed. “Yeah, yeah,” I mutter absentmindedly as I search through the cupboards. I make a mess, not caring about my mother screaming at me at the other end of the line. Where did I put them? I could swear I had put them in one of those drawers. “Don’t ‘yeah, yeah’ me,” she screams. “Can you even imagine how I am feeling right now?” I swallow a groan as it’s always just about her feelings. “I can’t even look Margerie in the eyes anymore. Do you even realize how seeing her in church was? This is so embarrassing,” she continues, making me lean against the kitchen counter, propping myself up onto my hands in pure desperation. I don’t think I can do this. How can I face him?! Taking a deep breath, I just let her ramble along, waiting for a break to say something as well. “You have insulted everyone and your language was awf
Theodore I pull at my tie as I walk into the huge foyer with shiny walls and shiny floors. Gulping painfully, I increase my pace to reach the long reception. I recognize the snobby woman who also welcomed me to this place for my interview. “Good morning.” I clear my throat as my gleeful tone gets me a death glare. I wait a few seconds for her to say something but as she just continues to look at me with an annoyed expression, I decide to dare and speak again. “Theodore… Baxter. I’m the new hire for the tech support team.” I flash her a smile but she just rolls her eyes and taps on her headset. “The tech guy is here. Can I send her up to Helga or what do I do with him?” Seeing her tone and her attitude, the only thing missing is her chewing on bubble gum and blowing big bubbles while chomping on the gun with an open mouth. I clear my throat again, wanting to get her attention. “Actually, I was told I should report to Gilda.” It’s hard to keep my smile up as she shoots me anoth
Theodore My heart is already beating into my throat as I step onto the floor where I ended up just a few days ago as I had to stutter out my apology. I feel like shaking up, going crazy as I can nearly smell his cologne. I’m a goner. Gilda is not sitting at her desk, and Helga stops in front of it, pursing her lips. “Agh, bummer.” She seems to think about how to proceed and after taking a deep breath, rolls back her shoulders and charges forward once again.I jerk up, practically running after her until we reach the office I know has to be the one of Helades. She knocks and sets up a smile as she steps into the room. I notice right away how in contrast to the other offices it is awfully dark. The artificial lights illuminate the room as the blinds are shut, locking the sun out. This guy is mental.Helades doesn’t even spare me a glance and checks his watch as he mutters, “Did you go on a brunch date, or what?”I clench my fist, reciting a mantra about how I need this job and b
Theodore It definitely isn’t him. My man of the shadows would never be like this. He is a gorgeous man. With a sexy grin, and juicy lips that have nothing for me other than kind words. Not a sadistic asshole. I scratch my head, still feeling the spot where the pen had hit me, breaking off a piece of my heart in the process. Wanker. Looking at the small notepad I got from him, I sigh absentmindedly. 1. No “funny” jokes. I still can’t believe he made me put that one in brackets. 2. Wear my phone on me all the time and keep the line free for him. 3. If he can’t reach me just once, I am fired. That must be some sick kind of game. 4. I get four hours of sleep, but he decides when. This one actually proves it. 5. If I am out, I need to let everything fall and come back to the company immediately if there is an emergency. 6. I need to show up for a monthly health check-up sponsored by the company. 7. If I fail the check-up, I’ll get fired. At least my work will be appreciate
Theodore “Here I am,” I shout, bursting into Helades’ ominous office. Nearly feeling ashamed at how out of breath I am, I risk losing the little bit of air that I have still left in my lungs as I take another good look at him. He is glaring at me through his glasses, and I can’t remember when a pair of glasses ever looked so good. A shiver passes down my spine, and I cringe. I really have to stop doing that. And get it together. “Do you have a problem following the rules?” he asks sarcastically, and I shake my head. “Of course not, boss.” He grunts, lowering his eyes back onto the paperwork before him. “This is Dimitrios. He will show you around and teach you how to start.” Tilting his head, he locks eyes with me again, making my breath hitch in my throat. There is something wrong with me. God, how do I get him out of my system? Him scrunching up his face nearly goes unnoticed as Dimitrios steps closer to shake my hand.“Hey, Theo, right?” he asks, flashing me his pearly
Theodore “Oh, you here?” Gilda looks at me wide-eyed, turning around as she is biting into what seems to be a hotdog filled with everything possible. “Theo,” she squeals, holding her hand in front of her full mouth. “Hey!” I laugh, hopping to sit on her desk. “What are you doing here this late?” She rolls her eyes, munching to be able to speak properly. “Ugh, you know how the boss is.” “Uh-huh,” Grinning, I watch her mirror my smile as she wipes her lips from the greasy stuff. “Where did you get that? I could use something to eat now.” “There is a hot dog cart right outside the building. I guess that he has noticed that I love these things and am actually making him rich with all my cravings.” Shaking my head, I chuckle thinking how some people are just gifted as she must have the best genes possible. She flicks back her red-brown hair, flashing me her perfect pearly whites. “Do you want one? I can show you where he stands.” “I’d love this,” I answer happily, but I
Theodore Where are you? Helades’ angry text is still dancing on my screen as I walk down the dark hallway to barge into his office. “Here I am!” I announce myself in a sing-song voice and he looks up for only a second only to flash me a disgusted expression. “Forgot how to take a call?” I shake my head, grinning. “Nope. Just thought that you didn’t want to hear my voice but wanted me here.” “Wow, so you are actually able to think. This is astonishing,” he scoffs, redirecting his attention to his papers. Stepping further into the room, I chuckle and refrain from retorting something. As I study his face, I notice that his skin doesn’t look as pale as it was in the last few days. He seems a lot healthier if I think of it, and I guess that he is feeling better. Automatically, happiness streams through me and I must be lighting up, my smile brightening. “Why are you smiling like a moron?” His annoyed voice rumbles towards me but isn’t strong enough to make me lose my ha
Theodore “Where the hell have you been all this time? Why didn’t you take any calls?” my mother’s voice blares out of the phone, forcing me to hold it away from my ear to save my ability to hear. Leaning back on the couch, I close my eyes, pressing my fingers to the bridge of my nose. “I was working, Mom.” She tsks disparagingly, making my blood boil. “As if… You know that Fredrik finds the time to call me every day and his beautiful fiancée brings me flowers every week. Aren’t they lovely?” “Precious, Mom. And here I was, thinking they would be too busy with the planning of their wedding in Italy.” I sigh frustrated, while she gasps. “If you would take life a little bit more seriously just as your brother does, you would do a lot better.”I roll my eyes, swallowing a sarcastic comment that is about to bubble out of my throat. My brother is a successful lawyer, as successful as you could be in a small town like ours, and he is soon-to-be-married to his university sweetheart, who
Theodore I groan as I open my eyes at the sunbeams falling in through the window, waking me up in the most ungently way. “Fuck,” I rasp out, my throat feeling like I have screamed at the top of my lungs all night. Halting in my movements, I jerk up, a flashback of how Helades slams into me flickering in front of my eyes shortly.Did I meet him? I scratch my head, thinking that it must be a strange fantasy of mine as I don’t remember much from the moment I started drinking with Dimitrios. This obsession is getting ridiculous even for me. It’s all fuzzy, a white noise static footage replacing the images from my party night. Passing my hand over my neck, I try to get rid of the goosebumps my shivers are triggering, my heart skyrocketing. I halt as I feel strangely uneven bumps on the side of my throat, and I jerk up, sitting up in my bed. “Argh.” A stinging pain jolts through me, and I lay on my side as my eyes widen. Fantasy my ass. Literally. What the hell happened last nigh
Theodore “Listen, I really am not looking for trouble. I’ll leave right away. Promised.” I have repeated the same words three or four times already. Actually, it could be more but my tipsy and panicky state is making it hard to think clearly. But the bodyguard is ignoring me anyway, not even talking to me as he gestures for me to enter into a VIP room. I look into the dimly lit and elegant room confused before looking back up at him. As I was expecting him to throw me into some cold basement before beating me to a pulp, it takes me a moment to react. Following his instructions before he gets angry and changes his mind, I walk into the room. I gulp as I walk down without knowing where I’m going. Feeling a strange pull, I take slow steps, my body yearning to reach a pool table, which is standing at the end of the large hall. While my mind screams at me to get the fuck out, I scan the people I pass. They are incredibly beautiful. Women and men with flawless skin and sculpted bod
Theordore “Welcome, Sir.” I roll back my shoulders in my improvised uniform as I open the door to a gentleman in a tailored suit. Clearing my throat, I pull at my jacket that one of the ladies of the reception had found in a locker room for me to wear. I guess that an old staff member had forgotten it down there as he was kicked out of the building before he could start his shift. At least I am still here. Even if after I had returned to my desk, Brad showed up and told me that they needed someone at the door as Henry called in sick. Of course I know who Henry is. And this smells a lot like a pre-termination. But luckily, the nice receptionist was working along with the bitch, so I could ask her about him and am now standing a few feet away from a tall and broad-shouldered security guy named Jussuf. “Since when are you working for security?” he asks me, his eyes still directed at the square in front of the building. I shake my head, sighing. “Since I fucked up my us
Theodore “Ugh, I want to die,” I groan, hitting my head against my desk. “Someone please shoot me now.” Since Gilda and I came back from our lunch, Helades had been chasing me around with stupid requests. Maybe I’m an inexperienced IT guy, but I can’t be that stupid to notice that what he asked me for was simply bullying. His requests were ridiculous, and I’m pretty sure that he just made them to keep me running. Once he made me run down through a head-spinning amount of levels to fetch something, only to tell me to put it back downstairs as he had just looked at it as I came through the door. Like he just wanted to say fucking hello to it. The asshole isn’t even hiding it. Pushing my hair back, I take a deep breath before tousling my hair with a scream of indignation. This is just not fair. As I let my arms slump, and fill my lungs with the sticky air of the cave, I let my eyes roam over the room. Due to everybody being at home, probably sleeping, as it should be at four a
Nathanael A few months before My eye risks starting to twitch at the flickering street light. I sigh as I have been standing here for hours and I should finally move out of the shadows of the trees. Checking my watch, I realize that the sun could rise any moment now, meaning that I spent the entire night watching the dark windows of what is likely to be his apartment. What a desperate creep I have become. The sun wouldn’t hurt me, but it drains a lot of my energy, and I hate it. After taking a deep breath, I finally decide to step into the run-down building. The stinging odor of ammonia wafts in my direction as I step into the elevator that seems to be out of order. Why am I even surprised? I access a flight of stairs through a creaking door and step over what seems like a homeless person lying in my way. Blending out the quarreling voices of a couple that seems about to get ready for work, I access the floor where this Theodore Baxter is supposed to live on. The me
Nathanael I look up as Gilda walks into my office humming. She has a big smile plastered on her face. I’m used to her being a ray of sunshine, all in contrast to me, but this is creeping me out either way. Especially as I know that she just came back from lunch with… Baxter. I ignore my dead heart doing an extra beat at the thought of him, even though I still force myself to address him with his last name. “What is it?” I growl, as she starts swaying through my office. “Did you transform another poor soul into a frog? Is my IT guy still alive?” She giggles, putting down a pile of documents on my desk. “Oh, I would never mess with him, sir. I know how important this one is.” I click my tongue, glaring at her as she grimaces. “And frogs really aren’t my specialty.” “I don’t know what you are talking about,” I push my fake glasses up my nose, feigning ignorance. She shrugs, rummaging through the papers as if it were her business, but I know exactly that she is just loo
