Chapter 67

The Boeing 767-300ER of United Airlines landed on the runway in Johannesburg with a bang at 1400 hours.

A few minutes later, the passengers alighted. Kate breathed in the air and realized it wasn’t different from the air in New York. As she stepped down, she relived the moment when the plane made its ascent. She had secretly confided in Kim that she might be airsick. When Kim noticed her gripping tightly on the leather chair, she took her hand in hers and held her firmly.

"You’ll be fine," she whispered. "I had a terrible experience during my first visit... You’re braver than me. "

Kate nodded as her stomach knotted and threatened to throw out the cup of coffee she had forced down that morning.

"How was the flight?" Kim asked as she walked to her side.

"Terrific. I don’t want to get used to it."

Kim laughed. "That’s nonsense."
