Damian woke up earlier and took his time to make all the necessary investigation he needed to make. The fridge was stacked up with expensive wines and easy- to – prepare food, the car was under lease for a month, the rent had been paid in full, and a dozen receipts filled her waste bin.

He concluded that the lady whose name he didn’t know yet was worth spending his time with.

Damian didn’t have culinary skills but he knew how to prepare the basic American breakfasts. In the kitchen, he found some eggs and some left sliced bread.

A few minutes later, he eased into the room with a tray of breakfast. Karen was already awake and scrolling through her phone.

“Good morning, babe.”

Karen smiled at the tray and stared at him. “Babe? Only last night, I wasn’t a law- abiding citizen.”

Damian sat down and kissed her cheek. “Not after that special intimacy.”
