I do not know what got into Cedric the last few days, but he has not left me alone. Even when one of his scouts summoned him outside of the packhouse, he sent someone else just so he didn’t leave me alone. He said it wasn’t an urgent matter, and one of his gammas could handle the issue just as effectively as he could have.

Did Joey really trouble him that much? It’s not like anything happened, and Joey hasn’t tried to do anything to me since then either. In fact, Joey hasn’t even snooped around for the ‘scent’ so I’m not sure what Cedric is so paranoid for.

Even when he has had no other option but to leave the main packhouse and gardens, he has forced me to either stay in the packhouse or have guards following my every movement.

I thought I was gaining more freedom, but now I have less again. At least these guards all have mates and are safer to be around than those like Joey. The downside is this has meant me and

It’s been a week now and I don’t know what I’m going to do about having Dereck so close to Kyla. Those two always somehow sneak off together, though they haven’t done anything more than hold hands. At least so far. I’ve managed to interrupt them more times than I can count.I’ve thought of kicking Dereck out of the inner pack, but I have a feeling he will sneak in regardless of what I do to keep him away from my mate. Even if I did somehow do that, Kyla would get irritable with me, and the little progress I’ve made with her will be for nought.I was going to use their friendship for my own ends, but realising these two are closer than I thought, has made me second guess myself. Why does my mate have to be such an idiot? Can’t she tell already that we’re destined to be together? Is this my fault for not outright telling her the truth?I wanted to just tease her a little, let her figure out the truth, and then

Cedric was already gone by the time I had woken up, but that had only given me a small window to breathe. As soon as I came down the stairs, one of his omegas was already waiting for me. I don’t know who this one is, but she seems to be annoyed with her task of babysitting me. None of the omegas seems to like being around me all that much, although I can't think of why. Or maybe I can. I have been unreasonable towards them since day one. Perhaps even a little rude and unbearing, but that’s only because I never wanted to be dragged into this place and held hostage. Surely they can understand that? I offer her a small nod of greeting and glance around before asking, “where’s Cedric?” “The alpha,” the omega corrects me as she huffs. “And he’s dealing with a matter right now… he’ll be back,” she tells me, shaking her head. “Just go eat, or whatever…” she then mumbles, watching my every move. I give her the side-eye before slowly making my way to the kitch

Oh. Fuck.I can’t believe I just did that! Of all the things to do, I accidentally said Cedric’s name instead of Dereck’s. He has stopped kissing me and is now staring at me in disbelief. I have to think of something quick!“W-what? W-why did you stop?” I ask, trying my best to pretend I didn’t just mix up the names at all. I mean Cedric and Dereck sound alike, right? He won’t misunderstand, right?“You just called me-”“Dereck!” I call out his name, perhaps a little too loudly. He blinks at me with a perplexed expression. “I think I hear someone coming!” I lied. There’s no way he is going to believe me, not when he looks at me like this.I push Dereck off of me and quickly make my way to the door. My face is so hot that I know my fluster will be easy for anyone to notice. I need to get away from Dereck before he starts asking me questions. There is no way on the dark side of the moon that I can talk about the things Cedric does to me! Especially not to my lover!“Kyla!”I hear Dereck

I’m too dumbfounded to even chase after Kyla. She just called me Cedric and then tried to pretend she didn’t and fled. Why did she call me the alpha’s name instead of my own? Is this why Kyla has been acting so strange ever since coming here? Has Cedric said or done something to her?The more I think about everything that I’ve noticed lately, the odd question about scents, the more I need to sort this out. I take a deep breath in and calm my frustrations as much as I can. If I accuse Cedric of forcing himself on Kyla and it turns out I am wrong, then he will not only know we have been sneaking around behind his back but who knows what else he will do?There has to be an explanation for this, and I need to get to the bottom of it. I can’t act jealous or rash right now. If this is all a misunderstanding, then Kyla needs me to stay safe and not risk the ire of the alpha. However, I can't just ignore this either. The fact that Kyla ran off means there is far more to this than her being fo

At first, I was surprised that Dereck had figured out the truth so quickly, but in a way, I’m glad. There are a few ways I can use his love for Kyla to my advantage, but this might mean I’ll have to accept a few things myself. For now, I don’t have time to worry about it.A new cake is brought to the packhouse. Though it isn’t the one I had wanted, the argument had gone on long enough and had been bad enough that the two idiots had caused a mess of the original. Next year I’ll get someone else to work on it.Thankfully, nothing else major has caused any setbacks to the preparations and our guests arrive with only a few minutes delay. Kyla has been strangely quiet and hasn’t come downstairs at all yet. I haven’t had time to check on her, as alpha Caleb has kept me busy with his chit-chat.He was my father’s friend when they were children, but moved his pack away from the fighting. Although they only visit once a yea

The sound of people laughing and having a good time fills my ears. I must have worked myself up into an emotional wreck, as I don’t know when the party downstairs must have started. I had never noticed people arriving until now.How long had they been partying without me realising it? I still have figured nothing out, but no one has come to look for me either. I wonder if that is a sign that Dereck has said nothing to anyone about what happened. Or hasn’t spoken to Cedric at least?I bite my lower lip and force myself to my feet. I don’t want to go down there looking like a mess, but I’m getting hungry and I need to deal with this issue at some point. A party would be a suitable cover to sneak off, and it’s not like I can hide from Dereck forever.I take notice of my puffy face and red eyes. Sighing, I wash my face and do what I can to freshen up a bit. There’s not a lot I can do, but I doubt anyone will pay me any attention.

At first, the silence between us is deafening. However, once we’ve found a more secluded place away from the party, she finally breaks the silence between us.“You’re not originally from this pack, are you?” She asks, her friendly smile only serving to annoy me further. I do my best to hold back whatever emotions are welling up inside of me. “What’s your name?”“Kyla,” I tell her. “And you are…?”“Nice to meet you. I’m Anita,” she responds and then leans in and gives me a good look over. “Oh! You must be that other pack’s old leader. Right? I heard a little about your pack’s situation! Probably for the best. You don’t look as strong as my Cedric. The other packs would have wiped you out!”I hold back a snarl, but my nose still twitches in annoyance. Yet what upsets me more isn’t the insult of how strong or weak I look, or how easi

I had tried in vain to get Kyla’s attention. No matter how much I called her name, she was on some kind of mission and nothing would distract her from it. I thought perhaps she was going to attack Cedric for a moment, but to my shock and horror, it was the woman beside the alpha that Kyla pushed down.I don’t have a clue why she would go for this woman, as they’ve never met before today. Is this because Cedric is her mate? But surely Kyla isn’t experiencing the bond between mates yet, right? The signs shouldn’t be noticeable to her, things that she would not understand until she was twenty. Like her mate’s scent, or wanting to be around that person but not knowing why. Would jealousy be one of those things? As I make my way over to Cedric and Kyla, I worry about what will happen to Kyla now. Cedric won’t harm her, not if what he said was true earlier. However, that doesn’t mean Kyla is safe, either. The other alpha

A few weeks later...Stretching out on the enormous bed, I almost don’t want to get up. However, before I can sit up, I am suddenly attacked by two small bodies as they jump up and down, calling out my name.“Luna Kyla! Luna Kyla get up!”I can’t help but laugh as I grab the corner of the quilt and spring it up and over the two kids’ heads. Their squeals of delight echoes through my ears, causing a wide grin to grow on my face.“Who dares to awaken the bed monster?” I ask in a playfully rough growl. As the youngsters squeal and squirm under the blankets, I can’t help but feel a small sense of relief that they can still laugh. After the last battle against Vukasin, we lost so many of our pack, and as a result, many children were orphaned. Although we couldn’t take all of them in, we have taken in these two little rascals and they have settled down as well as can be expected. The others have been

I would be lying if I said I hadn’t hated every moment of taking Vukasin’s life, but I had made the decision and could not back down once I had made it. I wanted to be seen as Cedric’s equal, as a leader, and not just his mate.As I helped drag Vukasin’s corpse through the street and back to the main battle. Cedric waited for me to stand next to him before he nodded. When I was ready, the two of us let out a victory howl together. As soon as the nearest pack members saw their fallen alpha, they stopped fighting in shock. Soon enough, the cry of victory echoed throughout the area. I just hoped Vukasin didn’t have a beta or gamma that would seek revenge at the loss of their leader. When silence fell at last on the battlefield, I gazed out at the remaining packs and saw we had paid such a heavy toll on both sides. I wasn’t sure what would happen now, but the biggest hurdle was over. The only thing left now was dealing with Vukasi

I can hear Kyla and Vukasin fighting one another, but my eyes still sting from the dirt that bastard flicked into them. It takes me a while before I can get them clear enough to where I can see them again. Though it still stings, and my eyes water each time I open them.Vukasin has dragged my mate down in front of him, and I realise that if I don’t step in now, he will slaughter Kyla. My heart aches at the thought and before the worst can happen, I charge forward, forcing Vukasin to back up as I stand protectively over my mate. The two of us snarl at one another and I realise Vukasin’s hind leg is bleeding, and he isn’t putting any weight on it. Kyla must have done some damage, which I am thankful for. This should give us an edge in battle. In all honesty, I’m surprised Kyla had the resolution to fight with Vukasin. It makes me proud of her, to see how far she has come as a luna. Having the strength to get past her trauma and to fight an

I knew it would be risky to do this myself, but I couldn’t find anyone nearby that would be a better fit for this task. Going back to find Dereck or Joey would waste too much time and we couldn’t afford to wait any longer. We would miss our chance to end this quickly if I messed around trying to find and free up someone stronger.I watched Cedric chase Vukasin until he could guide him in the direction I had suggested. I knew my plan would work. It just meant I had to be careful when blocking the opposite way. I was sure I could distract him long enough for Cedric to do what he needed to do, it was just a matter of making sure he couldn't slip past me easily.Darting through the crowd of fighting werewolves, I find my way out of the chaos. Finally, I reached the spot before Cedric and Vukasin could reach it. I have a couple of things to do before they get here, but it wouldn't take me long at all.Transforming back into my human form, I grab the large

  • Subduing the Alpha - Hetro Version   CH101 - Cedric's POV

This fight has gone on for far too long, but I hadn’t expected it to be so easy. Even with the others flanking our enemy from the other side, this isn’t a straightforward battle. Vukasin has escaped my claws once again, though he hasn’t gotten far from me this time. However, I now have to deal with one of his warriors before I can continue my battle with him.I’m starting to think Vukasin is trying to tire me out by forcing me to fight as many of his warriors as he can throw at me. It is a cunning plan. To make me so tired that he can beat me easier. However, I know what he is trying to do, so I do the same. I have a warrior battle with him in return.I have to hand it to him. Vukasin is a formidable foe. However, dragging this fight out like this only makes it worse for both sides. We’ve already lost a fair number of warriors each and I can bet more lives will be lost. That might be an acceptable sacrifice to Vukasin, but not to me.

  • Subduing the Alpha - Hetro Version   CH100 - Kyla's POV

The pounding of my heart would not cease. I was exhausted, but we couldn’t stop even after we fought back the enemy. Their regrouping didn’t take long either after the two I had distracted had returned. However, with Joey’s help, the group thought twice about renewing the fight directly. There might have only been four of us, but we were formidable in our own ways and the enemy seemed to have understood that. However, they were not about to give up and walk away. They hounded us with each movement on our way back to the other group. They gave us no choice but to fend them off again and again. At this rate, we would be too tired to be of any help to Cedric and the others.Joey once more forced the last of our pursuers away from us before backing into the safety of our small group. “We need to rest,” he told us as he looked towards Rohn. “But if we rest, they will hound us even more. How frustrating.”I followed his gaze t

As I turned the corner, it seemed Dereck had gained the upper hand on the ones attacking him, but Rohn wasn’t fairing as well. He was old, though still putting up a fight. However, I realised something was wrong. Had they injured him in the fight? Whatever the reason was, he seemed almost lethargic. That’s when I realised what the problem was.Rohn must have known his mate was near death when she left his side, but if he had known of the exact moment she had died, I wasn’t sure. I heard tales of that being the case before but had never experienced it. If one could know the moment their mate died, then I was sure Cedric was still alive.Feeling there was hope, I charged forward and helped Rohn with the foe he was currently dealing with. Dereck would be fine for a while, but the old alpha would not survive against this young warrior for much longer.Just as the enemy was about to strike, I barreled into their side, knocking them off balance tempo

I was sure I had seen my mate when the second group had flanked our enemy, yet now I couldn’t see her anywhere. I had forced Vukasin back against the others, but now he had gotten out of my reach. Yet despite that, the continuous fighting meant I couldn’t leave to find out where Kyla had run off to.Sinking my fangs into the neck of a rival warrior, I waited for them to stop squirming before I pulled my maw away again. We had the advantage, and I knew we would win, yet not seeing Kyla anywhere had me distracted. Was she safe? Or perhaps she had been forced to retreat for now?And speaking of mates, where was Dereck? He should have been with the group, too. I hastily looked around, but couldn’t see him anywhere either. Two others were missing as well. The old luna and alpha from Silver-Sun pack. Has something gone wrong? Did Kyla get in trouble and they had gone to save her? Or was Kyla the one trying to save them?I wanted to leave the fight to
