CH52 - Dereck's POV

2024-10-29 19:42:56I had tried in vain to get Kyla’s attention. No matter how much I called her name, she was on some kind of mission and nothing would distract her from it. I thought perhaps she was going to attack Cedric for a moment, but to my shock and horror, it was the woman beside the alpha that Kyla pushed down.
I don’t have a clue why she would go for this woman, as they’ve never met before today. Is this because Cedric is her mate? But surely Kyla isn’t experiencing the bond between mates yet, right?
The signs shouldn’t be noticeable to her, things that she would not understand until she was twenty. Like her mate’s scent, or wanting to be around that person but not knowing why. Would jealousy be one of those things?
As I make my way over to Cedric and Kyla, I worry about what will happen to Kyla now. Cedric won’t harm her, not if what he said was true earlier. However, that doesn’t mean Kyla is safe, either. The other alpha

I’m glad that Dereck has agreed to help. This is unfamiliar territory for all three of us, but it will benefit me more if I just accept that these two are going to keep sneaking off behind my back. I'm shocked when Kyla gives me her consent to fuck her. I didn’t think Dereck could convince her so easily. I honestly don’t know how to feel about that, but I can’t argue with the results. I’m so relieved that Dereck hasn’t betrayed me, and that if I change my mind, then he’ll get me out of here. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t hated every moment of taking Vukasin’s life, but I had made the decision and could not back down once I had made it. This fight has gone on for far too long, but I hadn’t expected it to be so easy. Even with the others flanking our enemy from the other side, this isn’t a straightforward battle. Vukasin has escaped my claws once again, though he hasn’t gotten far from me this time. However, I now have to deal with one of his warriors before I can continue my battle with him.I’m starting to think Vukasin is trying to tire me out by forcing me to fight as many of his warriors as he can throw at me. It is a cunning plan. To make me so tired that he can beat me easier. However, I know what he is trying to do, so I do the same. I have a warrior battle with him in return.I have to hand it to him. Vukasin is a formidable foe. However, dragging this fight out like this only makes it worse for both sides. We’ve already lost a fair number of warriors each and I can bet more lives will be lost.
