"I wish I had my own business!" Jess exclaimed. Since the start of the academic session, Jess had been bursting with enthusiasm to launch his personal business venture. He used to exchange different proposals with his friend Vicky. He dreamed of establishing a computer institute in the nearby town and shared his vision with him. And Vicky also expressed his willingness.
Jess revealed that he had a flat near his residence, ideal for housing the institute, and proposed that they start a computer training center together, with their classmate Sara. Sara, of the same age, often spent time with the two friends, and while Vicky saw her as just a friend, Jess harbored emotional feelings for her. After careful planning, they decided on a range of short computer courses, including hardware techniques, and created an admission form and leaflet outlining the details, duration, and f*e structure. Leveraging their computer science background and expertise in programming languages and operating systems, they named their institution "Gateway to 2000". It was not a big start. The setup consisted of a large hall, an office, and a small room, equipped with necessary furniture and ten Persona Desktop computers. They distributed leaflets, put up a billboard, and launched their initiative, installing ten Personal Computers at the site. At first, they received an overwhelming response, enrolling twenty students within the first month. They leveraged their college network for marketing, attracting additional students. As time passed, they grew more enthusiastic about their venture, exploring new opportunities. Vicky balanced his part-time job and other responsibilities while being kind and altruistic towards Sara. Vicky's affectionate nature drew Sara closer to him, and she began to prefer his company over Jess's. Initially, Sara was interested in Jess, but her feelings shifted towards Vicky as they spent more time together. Vicky noticed that Sara and Jess would often stay at the institute beyond operating hours, engrossed in conversation. He realized that they had developed a romantic connection and chose not to intervene, respecting their bond. Over time, their relationship strengthened, and Vicky had no doubts about the sincerity of their passion for each other. He maintained his own unique place in their lives, appreciating their love for each other. One day, Jess asked Vicky, "If I abandon Sara, will you take her in?" Vicky was taken aback by the question, his mind racing with confusion and disbelief. He remained silent, unsure how to respond to such a strange inquiry. Sara attempted to assure her loyalty to Jess, but he refused to listen, his mind seemingly made up. "You'll maintain your relationship with Sara no matter what happens in our lives," Jess continued, his tone firm and resolute. Vicky was shocked by Jess's inquiry, unable to comprehend why his friend would even suggest such a thing. Sara, however, sensed that Jess's family issues and attitude were driving his behavior. She knew that Jess's family had always been a sensitive topic for him, and his recent behavior suggested that something was amiss. As the days passed, Jess's behavior became increasingly aggressive and erratic. He would pose absurd questions to Vicky and Sara, his anger and frustration evident in his tone. "Do you think I'm useless?" he would ask, or "Do you think I'm incapable of taking care of Sara?" His behavior was both shocking and disturbing, leaving Vicky and Sara appalled and unsure how to react. The situation culminated in a shocking incident where Jess threatened to shoot himself in front of Sara. Sara's frantic call left Vicky stunned, and he rushed to the institution, his heart racing with fear. When he arrived, he found Jess holding a pistol, his emotions out of control. Vicky tried to intervene, determined to defuse the situation and prevent any harm from coming to his friends Vicky approached Jess and said, "Shoot me first, and you'll be relieved of the misery fueled by your imagination. This is all because of me." "Leave me alone, please," Jess requested. Vicky tried to take the blame and let Jess vent his frustrations. "Calm down, Jess, calm down." Vicky approached and let Jess speak something. Despite Jess's continued threats to shoot himself, Vicky coaxed him into handing over the pistol, and within a split second, he grabbed it and unloaded it at once. Vicky immediately left the room, relieved that the situation had been defused. Realising that he couldn't keep Sara safe, Vicky decided to speak with her parents about either taking care of her or arranging their marriage as soon as possible. However, his plan was met with disappointment when Sara's mother asked Vicky to take responsibility for her daughter's well-being, saying, "She's under your supervision now. You can't leave us alone. Decide what you can do for her. You're the only one who can handle this vulnerable situation." Vicky consoled Sara's mother. Vicky's plan had backfired, and he felt helpless. "What should I do now? How can resolve the situation and quit himself?" Vicky thought. He wanted to distance himself from the situation, but it seemed inescapable. Fortunately, Vicky had to leave for an outstation assignment, providing a temporary reprieve. Although he didn't intervene during his absence, it allowed Sara and her parents to decide reasonably and independently. They had some meeting and reached some good conclusions. 'O thank God!' Upon his return, Vicky was thrilled to hear that both couple of parents had agreed to the proposal, and Sara and Jess were happily engaged, settling their affairs mutually. Vicky was quite relieved to have a safe exit from their lives for a few years to come, grateful that the situation had been resolved without involvement of his. Jess attempted to apologize to Vicky in the most sincere way possible, but Vicky didn't allow him to discuss the matter more. Vicky tried to escape himself quietly but some business matters remained unsettled, time passed, and both Vicky and Jess suffered losses in their respective shares. Vicky bore a greater loss since there were only two partners instead of three, as initially planned. Despite this, Vicky felt content, thinking that the situation had finally ended on a positive note. However, whenever he reflected on the incident, he couldn't help but shudder and quickly push the thoughts aside. "What a great mess!""You are too good to be true." Vicky's ears shimmered with the words that he had just heard. He tried to find some reason but couldn't understand at first. It is a fact that how kind and gentle people, sometimes, have to face a very bitter and sardonic situation in life that one can hardly imagine. These critical moments may occur once or twice in life, but they teach very precious lessons for the rest of life. Some people adopt a policy of benign neglect, making sure their close relations grow confidently and naturally. This works positively, but not always all the time all the way, because some ephemeral moments occur at once and leave lasting effects on the pure relations."Can you teach my daughter?" the mother asked Vicky. He could not refuse because he also needed some means to support himself. He started teaching her daughter, and soon he got a group to teach within a few days. This was a good start and gave him a lot of opportunities to improve his life. There happened to be a
Vicky's ears rang with the incessant whispers, a cacophony of voices that had haunted him for many days. He couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, his skin crawling with every thin murmur. His eyes pleaded with his mom, but she dismissed his concerns with a wave of her hand.'Vicky, sweetie, it's just your imagination running wild!, so forget it' The words stung, her tone a stark contrast to the eerie whispers that refused to silence. The transe was still going on. Vicky's frustration mounted, his helplessness palpable as he struggled to convey the terror that stregthened its grip. The voices persisted, a constant reminder that he was trapped in a nightmare from which he couldn't awaken.Maria also told him not to think much about it. But Vicky had some unknown voices coming from some unknown direction. "How I could do that? How I could do that?" He repeatedly told himself that everything would be okay. Finally, one day, Vicky got up and started moving in the direction where
Life must go on to avail the innumerable bounties of nature. They spread all around us, but one has to be very vigilant and watchful to avail of them. They have their own features and challenging crux that not everyone can realize the fact. Only tests and trials prove the worth of these opportunities that come our way. Such moments may come in ups and downs in our life and make us disturbed. However, time elapses, and these moments leave lasting marks on our life. Some of us learn and be careful in facing the next challenges, but most of us repeat some blunders and repent.Vicky wanted to help that family when no one was ready to speak about them. "Why you are supporting that family even though they have snatched everything from you?" All of them got ready to search the whole woods for the lost horse. It was only Vicky who stood his point of view. Vicky was with his uncle in search of his lost horse in the woods. "Where it could be?" By the evening, they found the horse and returned h
Life is not as hard as most people consider it to be. Actually, it's a matter of our fulfillment and performance and how much we expect from ourselves. To Vicky, life is not hard at all. What do we do if we have nothing to do? Everybody needs to do something, whether they like it or not. It's their work that keeps them going in life. It also helps others to keep doing their everyday jobs. No barber can cut their own hair. Not every job can be done by everyone. So, everybody has to do something to earn a living. Now, it's up to you how you perform your duties and obligations. It means you should do it or not do it; if you do it, then do it nicely. Then you won't find it hard. People will love you if you love your job. That's a secret of happiness, too."Oh my God, how would I survive in such a malpractice?" Vicky often found himself lost in thought, unable to help but lie in bed and cry. After his parents' passing, he was left with grim future, no means to support himself and his seven
He had never been so happy when he visited his father's farm. The pleasure of touching the velvety grass was overwhelming, so he lay down and gazed up at the deep blue sky. His eyes caught sight of a hawk curving down towards the woods, its wings spread wide. He got up and rushed to see the hawk up close, his heart racing with excitement. Belly thought that it was in some trouble, but when he reached the spot, he found nothing amiss elsewhere. The hawk seemed to have vanished into thin air. He was panting badly due to the steep ups and downs of the field, his breathlessness a testament to his eagerness. His attendant was there to follow his orders, but he was still confused, his brow furrowed in concern. He had seen the hawk's flight plummeting downward, its scream echoing through the air. "Where has it gone?' he wondered, his mind racing with possibilities. He rushed back to the place where he saw the hawk's flight, his eyes scanning the ground, searching for any sign of the majestic
Sometimes, it's too hard to believe that an incident has taken place in one's life. Even though he tries to forget it, still it remains a permanent etch in his memory, despite having tried to pul out from the enormous store of mind. Vicky got married and had a nice baby. His old mother was also with his small family. Usually on every Sunday, they having their empty baskets used to visit the market to buy some crockery and garments. But little did they know, their joyous outing would soon turn into a nightmare. After a while, he and his wife hoping to get some enduring shoes went to another corner, leaving their two-year-old baby with his mother near in a shop. Here the trauma began that challenged the couple to face.Vicky's legs started trembling with mind-blowing fears as he struggled to walk up and down the street. His mind raced with a single, haunting question: "Has he lost his child?". He answered, 'No'(The incident occurred 25 years ago, but the memory still keeps a gro
Though the winding lanes somewhere connected to another lane, it always gives pleasure to be lost in these lanes. Sometimes vacant lanes are filled with horrors that somebody is swiftly coming behind you. You take steps hurriedly to finish it. One lane is always filled with a sweet aroma, while others are streaked with a stingy smell all the time, especially on a Sunday, it was a pleasure to move across the lanes. One could also reach their destination by hopping from one to another, but that was always seems too dangerous to go through. Some of the houses are very haunting and frightening, and nobody dared to go inside. While moving through such buildings, one always met with a culprit who was looking for a place to hide himself. The person whom Vicky was looking for expected to happen on his way. But it did happened at once. "Oh, I could escape now!" There was no more turn to get rid of her. She stopped and wating for him to come nearer and Vicky stepped were stuck. He tried to av
Happiness is an attitude of mind, born of the simple determination to be happy under all outward circumstances." - J. Donald WaltersOpening his eyes, Vicky gazed out the window at a bright blue sky above thousands of waves, creating a motion picture of sounds and surf. Flying seagulls with their piercing squawks over the mighty ocean were enhancing the vast view, making it more poignant and vivid. "What could I do?"He wondered what lay beneath the surface, where the ocean's pulse crashed against the dark brownish rocks and rebounded back to the swells of the sea. The powerful and colorful panorama danced around him, mesmerizing him. But could Vicky let himself be crushed by the burden of immediate obligations, or could he seize the moment and let joy in? His mind was overloaded with myraid questions. "O Lord, have mercy on me!"Finnally, the choice was his: to squander his time in procrastination or seize every opportunity on his way. With a new day ahead, he had the chance to harne
