Chapter 6 The Evil intentions

Mrs Dhani Chauhan very well knows that her daughter in law Nandini doesn't like Sanjana's presence in their life. When Sanjana was eight-year-old, Nandini tried very hard to send Sanjana to some boarding school. But to her disappointment, she never succeeded in her plan due to the presence of a senior Chauhan couple.

One thing that the elder couple doesn't know is that the reason for Sanjana's miseries is present in their own house who is ...the aunt or say, evil aunt, Mrs Nandini Chauhan. From Sanjana's childhood days she taunts her to be a bad omen to their lives. She never hesitates to demoralise her. She made her believe that her birth was the sole reason for her parents' death.

Nandini trashed her children's minds with hatred towards Sanjana. They never used to play with her in childhood days, they used to bully her whenever possible. There was no brother-sister bond between the cousins. Neil and Nitin were brothers to her, for the outer world but in reality, they never accepted her presence in their home or lives. The poor girl used to cry on occasions of festivals like rakhi, as Nandini used to take them one day before the festival to her parent's place to avoid the situation of her mother-in-law forcing her sons to tie rakhi from her. 

The elder Chauhan couple has the idea of the family's dislike for Sanjana. But they never witnessed Nandini behaving badly with Sanjana. Nandini was a smart player in this game, she always make sure that her inlaws are not around, whenever she mentally abused Sanjana

Believe it any kind of mental torture or abuse is way more worst than physical abuse. As physical abuse may leave scars on the body which can be visible to us but in the case of mental torture the scars are depicted on the soul of a person which is not curable for long periods, some are even non-curable. 

Nandini must have resorted to physical abuse for Sanjana if it was not for her grandparent's presence in her life.

At present, the preparations were going smoothly to welcome the special guests. The senior Chauhan did not leave any stone unturned for this alliance from at least their side. Well on the other hand Narendra Chauhan is not at all bothered about the alliance or Sanjana's life. But Nandini was a different case, she was depressed to know that the Batra family is well established and will take care of Sanjana in her coming future. As she always wanted to see Sanjana suffer through hell.

Nandini wanted Sanjana to get married to her cousin's brother's son, who is a casanova, a drug addict unemployed, and a very wicked boy named Vicky gill. But before she can execute the plan to convince her in-laws for this alliance, of course by feeding them all false praises for her cousin's family and lies about Vicky gill's lifestyle. Mr Parmesh Chauhan dropped the news of the Batra family on her. Nandini always wanted the full Chauhan properties in his husband's name, even naira's elopement was being a great help in her intentions.

But with the unexpected entry of Sanjana into the picture, all her plans were going into the drain. So she wants this good for nothing girl to marry her cousins' son so that they can get her property shared in their name. And she already had a deal with her cousin to give some amount from the property to the Gill family, which helped their draining economic conditions. Of course, the torture and abuse that Sanjana will suffer at gills were a complimentary achievement for Nandini. Neil and Nitin Chauhan were helping her mother with her wicked intentions. 

Nandini was not giving up so easily, she had a backup plan ready to achieve her goal. She has planned to feed the batras with all lies about Sanjana's lifestyle. And Sanjana's parent's history will be very helpful to her especially in this type of situation. Nandini always knew how to manipulate people, and she was sure that she would succeed in it as always.

So, let the game begin.

  In the evening the batra family arrived at the Chauhan villa. The whole Chauhan family was present there to welcome them. After formal introductions, the snacks were served with casual talks going among them.  The batra family members were  Mr K N batra famous lawyer of Shimla, Mrs kajal batra principal of reputed convent school of Shimla, their children Elder son Rohan batra a self-made business doing good in textile business settled in Chandigarh, younger daughter neeti batra a smart and intelligent girl fashion designing course in Shimla.

         Batra couple has a very good idea of chauhan's respect and power in Dehradun. Nandini was eagerly waiting for a golden chance to manipulate them but the presence of his in-laws was not helping her with her evil motives. At the same time, Sanjana was getting nervous about this whole situation. She entered the living room with grandmother by her side, she greeted the batra family by joining her hands in namaste.

      The bats were mesmerised by the beauty of Sanjana. They have seen her photo sent by her nanaji to them. Mrs Batra insisted Sanjana be seated by her side.

         "Beta your photograph has done no justice with your beauty, you are more beautiful in reality. So tell me about yourself, your studies, your interests and what do you like to do in your free time." Mrs Batra asked Sanjana lovingly.

"Ji auntyji I am doing my MBA in Dehradun ., it's my final year. I... I like cooking different delicacies and trying different types of dishes ."Sanjana replied politely. 

   "   That good beta, so what are your plans? " 

      

         I ...i...want to ....she was trying to tell them about her feelings but Nandini cut her talk in between.

       "  Oh, Mrs batra whàt plans are you talking about? I mean u know she will take care of her in-laws, and fulfil all duties of a wife and daughter-inlaw "

Nandini started with a fake smile.

"We want to say that if Sanjana wants to do a job in her future, she will have our full support .our family doesn't believe in discrimination between daughter and daughter in law. For me and my wife, Rohan's wife will have the same rights and freedom as our  daughter Neeti ." Mr Batra confidently said in support of his wife.

       Sanjana and her Nani were very relieved after listening to their thoughts. They are appreciating the family's thoughts about their daughter in law.

      " Rohan, do you want to ask her something or we should arrange your meeting in the garden?'' Mrs Batra asked Rohan. After listening to this Sanjana started fidgeting with her dupatta in nervousness. As she belonged to a conservative family so she never interacted with the opposite gender, meeting Rohan alone was out of her question, she was not comfortable with this arrangement. 

       Rohan was noticing all this and he don't want to make her uncomfortable or scared of him. After talking to the Chauhan family for a while, he understood that they are a very conservative family.

      " No questions mom, and it is a yes from my side, pl ask Sanjana's opinion and then proceed with further details. ".Rohan stated confidentially. As in his house, their parents give them the freedom to speak their minds.

          Rohan already liked Sanjana's simplicity and honesty which he saw in her beautiful ocean blue eyes. He was sure that Sanjana will be a very good life partner for her. So he announced his decision without any delay.

       Hearing Rohan's words Sanjana was very grateful to him. The batra couple gave a wide smile to his son as approval from them to this alliance.

        " So as you heard from our over-excited son, we are ready for this alliance ."

          

         "  Sanjana beta don't hesitate and tell us about your opinion, without any pressure "Sanjana looked shocked after hearing this. Her nani looked at her in a questioning manner, Sanjana blinked her eyes in affirmation. After noticing this Mrs Dhani Chauhan answered the question on her behalf. 

      "   It's a yes from us also, .."

       

    "   Sorry to interrupt your talk Mrs Chauhan but I want Sanjana to answer this in her words" Mrs Batra stated sternly.

      After getting a nod from her nannaji she replied hesitantly " I am fine with whatever my grandparents decide for me .".

After listening to her answer a proud smile appeared on Mr and Mrs Chauhan's faces. Batra's household was overwhelmed by the politeness in her tone.

         Mr Parmesh Chauhan asked politely about their demands or expectations from this marriage, in India it is also known as dowry.

     " Tell me one thing Mr Chauhan, do u have anything more precious than your daughter, then what more can we ask for. You are giving us your most precious possession, pl don't misunderstand us, we are against this dowry system." 

    "  But the horoscope was ".....Nandini again tried to make doubt in their minds. But Mrs kajal Batra was smart enough to understand her dislike towards this alliance, she cut her off smartly.

"Oh yes about the horoscope, we already matched their horoscopes and everything is good enough to proceed further. Our family priest had given the date of one week later for their engagement. Of course, if your family is comfortable  with it "

        Mr and Mrs Chauhan welcomed their decision and agreed on the same date. They also had done with the same discussion from their family priest and the conclusion was the same as Mrs Batra stated.

       

     Mr and Mrs Chauhan have decided on a grand wedding for their granddaughter, as they didn't get the chance for their daughter's wedding .They just want to fulfil all their dreams at Sanjana's wedding.

   Narendra Chauhan was already fed up with this family drama, he doesn't care how much his parents are going to spend at Sanjana's wedding. It's a relief for him that this baggage was going out from his house. But Nandini was burning in anger and getting frustrated with the failure of her wicked plan.

     After the departure of the batra family, everybody retired to their respective rooms. Nandini was in her son's room discussing this upcoming problem.

     "  This Batra family is smarter than I thought, her father in law has done a great job in finding this type of alliance for that bitch ." She whispered to her elder son Nitin.

    "How many times  have I told you to end this problem forever? Now  l will not listen to you mom, I know very well what should we do about her." 

    " What are you thinking to do, tell me clearly," Nandini asked 

"   What else do you think, I am going to kill that bitch .".nitin declared with a venomous voice.

    So now the game of survival has begun .
