“How does this one look?” Tanya asks me holding up a short yellow in colour summer dress, she held it against her body whilst taking a look in the mirror, this task she had done many times over already.
“As I had said the fourth time you have held up that dress, it would look perfect on you.” I smile turning to look at her where she only shrugs her shoulders, she has a tendency of being very meticulous when it comes down to what she wears for any event.“I want to make sure I have the correct outfit in case John pops the question tonight, my engagement photos must be only perfection.” She exclaims throwing the summer dress behind her where it lands on the floor, but once she had registered the sentence which had left her lips, she takes a glance over to me a little worried.I roll my eyes with a little smile using this method to let her know I was okay; she smiles before I turn to look back into the mirror to make sure my makeup wasn’t running due to the heat.“It’s okay for you, let’s be honest, you look amazing in whatever you wear but me, it takes some work!” She sighs falling backwards and landing on the bed behind her, I laugh getting up from my chair to stand over the bed with my arms crossed.“Okay first off, you are breathtakingly beautiful so stop with this and secondly, you have been saying for nearly two years that John is going to pop the question soon.” I say raising my eyebrow at her, which does cause her to sit up dramatically, throwing her arms in the air.“I know! I have been giving that boy signs but for some reason, he’s blind to all my attempts!” She exclaims while I begin to look around the mess of clothes to help her out a bit more, the yellow dress she persistently threw back and forth wondering if she wanted to wear it caught my attention. “I bet Bradley will pop the question to you before John even takes the slightest of hints.” She huffs and puffs getting wound up over Johns ignorance, I know how long she has been waiting for John to ask her, she even shows me the inspiration photos for her dream wedding, all she needs now is John to ask!“Johns going to ask you to marry him soon, perhaps he’s just waiting for the right time.” I say placing the yellow summer dress on the bed whilst gathering the accessories to pair it with, the whole outfit really coming together. “And will you please reframe from implying Bradley has any kind of feelings for me, we both know he and I are only friends and nothing more.” I say whilst taking her by the arm and pulling her to stand up, her eyes lighting up once she saw the outfit I had put together.“You can continue telling yourself that Liv, but everyone around can see how he really feels but you, maybe you and him need to have a little conversation.” She tells me picking up the dress, her comment only causes me to roll my eyes for the millionth time.“That’s only because people around us neglect to learn the dynamic we have in our friendship. Bradley has been a rock for me over everything which has happened these last few months, he understands that I’m not ready to jump back into the dating scene yet.” I sigh beginning to play with the jewellery I had laid out on the bed, but Tanya shakes her head at me whilst changing into yellow sumner dress.“Perhaps, it’s time to dip your toes in it slightly and who better to test the waters with than the guy you know you can trust.” She says trying to persuade me to give Bradley a chance, but I knew I wasn’t even remotely close to be ready to do that yet.“It’s only been four months Tanya.” I say trying to make her also see my point of view, the memories of what happened that day still loom in my mind at least once a week, I can’t even imagine attempting to build what we had with some other guy right now. Before she had time to respond, three loud knocks on the bedroom door engulf the room pausing our conversation. I knew we had taken much longer than we should, but these knocks caused me to jump out of my skin still.“Hurry up and get in the car, the sunset isn’t going to wait for you to pick the right outfit.” Bradley’s loud voice shouts from the other side of the door, due to the conversation we had just shared, Tanya flashes the crazy eyes at me moving her body around in a slow manner.I laugh a little but do push her into the bathroom to force her to finish getting dressed, the boys outside will start to lose their patience if she takes any longer. After a lot of rushing and telling Tanya she looked great, we both emerge from the bedroom and head outside our rented cabin where the boys were waiting. Bradley was impatiently pacing up and down beside his car while John, was laying on the ground staring at the sky with his cigarette in hand.“Finally! Watching the sunset isn’t a fashion show!” Bradley exclaims once he spotted us both, I laugh a little while Tanya places her hands on her hips with an annoyed expression.“It is when I walk out!” She says confidently swinging her hair off to one shoulder, she adores to be the centre of attention whenever she walks in a room, a trait I wish I shared.“You look smoking babe.” John smiles throwing his cigarette to the side whilst walking over, both of them soon engaging in the biggest snogging session I’ve seen in awhile.Bradley and I soon make eye contact where I send him an awkward smile, have the two forgotten that Bradley and I are standing here? I move away from the two and head over to the car, ending up being in the same boat as Bradley.“Okay can we put an end to the PDA until later, did no one register my comment about the sunset not waiting for us!” Bradley shouts with his arms out wide, the two do pull apart where John sends a devilish smirk over to Bradley.“No need to be jealous bro, we all know how much you long to have this sort of PDA with little Liv over there.” John continues to smirk looking towards me for a split second before staring evilly at Bradley, whose eyes go wide for a mini second, while I roll mine at his stupid comment throwing my things into the car.“The amount you talk about that happening, I bet it’s a little fantasy of your own John.” I smirk giving John a taste of his own medicine, now it was his turn for his face to hold nothing but shock while looking back at me.“It isn’t your fantasy, right?” Tanya asks turning to look at John with a confused but also annoyed expression, John whips his head around to her and attempts to speak but couldn’t find the words. “Are you being serious?!” Tanya asks louder her voice much higher pitched; John shakes his head pulling her to climb in the back of the car with him.“There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” I smile looking over at Bradley, before making my way over to sit in the passenger seat to hear Tanya asking John so many questions.Soon after, we were heading up the mountain to watch the sun go down for the last time on our trip. The sunset was one of the most magical things, it was so beautiful as we stood there watching it set behind all the trees and other mountains. It even caused Tanya to stop picking a fight with John and watch it with a smile, something I know John was delighted about. We were now on our way back to the cabin for our last night here, which has been the best holiday any of us could have asked for. We all have pretty busy lives back home with work and family, but to have this week just to relax and enjoy life, it was definitely needed. But also, with what has been happening in my own life recently, I just needed to hide my face from people and attempt to forget it ever happened. It was a warm evening which allowed us to drive through the trees with the roof down, the warm wind blowing through my hair bringing a smile onto my lips.As the sun had gone down, the woods we were passing were dark and, in a sense, creepy, but I did enjoy watching them with my head against the headrest. It’s a shame we have to head home and into the craziness again, which is why I’m soaking up every piece of this moment right now. I turn away from the trees to look at the others, Tanya and John had made up where they were having a little conversation smiling at each other. While Bradley, was also enjoying the ride with a smile on his lips. But he soon feels my eyes watching him and turns his head, both of us sending each a smile.I hadn’t any idea why people insist that Bradley and I should try out dating, I have never viewed him in a romantic way. He and I have the best friendship that perhaps could be confused with that sort of relationship. He has been the one person I have been able to come to when my head wouldn’t let me sleep, the amount of hours the poor guy had to listen to my cries. Never once did he try anything and I never wanted him to either. But maybe Tanya is right, if I’m going to jump back into the dating game, it should be with someone I trust.“Watch out!” John shouts from the back which snaps all of us from our thoughts, I whip my head around to look forward where what seemed to be a huge grey wolf in the middle of the road looking at us stood.“Woah!” Bradley shouts jerking the steering wheel to the side in hopes of dodging the creature, the tyres stretch as we seem to miss the wolf but the danger of the trees which barrelled closer to us came to view.I hold onto the side of the door as Bradley, hits the breaks and we come to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road. None of us uttered a word for a split second, my breathing fast as the memories of this very thing happening not that long ago to me fill my brain. I close my eyes placing my head back on the headrest, telling myself over and over again in my mind that I was safe, and that incident happened months ago. After I had somewhat absorbed what had just occurred, I open up my eyes to make sure everyone was okay.Tanya was holding onto Johns hand for dear life as she looked around, John, who is normally, calm and collected had a worried expression on his lips, but both seemed to be perfectly fine. I than turn to check on Bradley, who was looking over at me with his hands still firmly on the steering wheel his breathing fast.“Is everyone okay?” He asks snapping out of it slightly, all of us nod our heads telling him psychically, we didn’t have any harm to us but mentally, freaking out.Suddenly, the thought of that wolf like creature being injured comes to mind. My entire body was telling me to get out of the car and check to see if it was okay, it was something I just had to do to calm myself. I reach for the door handle and quickly jump from the car.“Liv, what are you doing?!” Bradley shouts as I close the door behind me and begin to walk closer to where I had seen the creature, before too long I was standing in the middle of the road.“I have to check you didn’t hit it!” I shout back quickly arriving in the spot we had saw him, our tyre tracks from when Bradley dodged him fresh on the road and the smell of burning rubber feeling the air.I begin to scan my surroundings in hopes of catching a glimpse of the creature, yet I didn’t spot him for even a second. But when I inch my way closer to right side of the road, I feel an intense pull as though there was a kind of magnet that was trying it’s hardest to get my body to walk in that direction. I decide to listen to the feeling and slowly start to make my way closer to the dark trees, the sound of all the night creatures waking up filled my ears. The closer I would get, the darker the trees would seem. This fact should have freaked me out, but I couldn’t ignore the feelings that were leaking from my body with every step I would take closer. My feet had just left the tarmac of the road, a hand takes mine and pulls me back to reality.“You can’t head in there; you don’t know what could be waiting for you.” Bradley tells me turning me away from looking into the woods, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of needing to walk in that section to find whatever is there.“I have to check what we saw isn’t hurt at all; we can’t leave it to die alone in pain.” I say attempting to walk back over to that section, but as Bradley still hand my hand, he easily, pulls me over to stand beside him again.“I know for sure I didn’t hit it, whatever it was is probably long gone now. But we need to leave, who knows what else is out here waiting for us to let our guard down.” Bradley tells me trying to drill it into my head how dangerous it would be to go in, after a few seconds, I soon agree with him.I nod my head allowing him to pull me back towards the car, where Tanya and John where still waiting in the back. Before too long, we were driving back down towards the cabin but this time, the vibe was different. What I couldn’t have known was that little accident, shaped the rest of my life. The morning soon came which meant it was time to leave, by tonight I’ll be back home getting ready to start work again tomorrow. This week has been the most fun I have had in years which makes it bittersweet to leave, yes, I miss my home and can’t wait to see everyone. But in some odd way, it feels as though this place is where I really belong and leaving it is causing my heart to ache. Being here in the middle of nowhere deep in the woods, has been the only place I haven’t had to deal head on with what had happened. There are no reminders of what I have been through or have lost, it’s as though time has frozen in a sense and I’m finally, able to breath. I had just packed my bag and was scanning my room in case I have forgotten something, the bedroom which I had called home with a week only remaining me the freedom I felt whilst staying here, which will soon be taken away once I return to normal life. When I see I had everything, I pick up my bag and head for the door. Once I was in
I soon give up my attempts to smack the door hard enough to either get someone’s attention to come and free me, or somehow break through the door myself. I even attempted to climb out of the window, but as like I had expected, it was also locked. The only thing which I could do now was pace, my worried thoughts of what Asher may want with me begin to consume my mind. The many questions which I had also swirling around my head in the process, why has this man taken me? What does he want with me? Was this whole encounter planned or was it spontaneous? There are so many unknowns, but all I’m able to do is sit in this room and wait for whatever is planned to happen to happen! After what feels like hours of pacing, I take a seat at the very foot of the bed with a sigh. My hands hurt incredibly, but I was much too nervous to even take a glance at the damage. I could feel there was an object piercing through my skin, which told me it would be better if I take a look. With a deep breath in
I jolt awake to the sun blinding me, I sit up straight a little where I was initially disorientated, my brain hadn’t quite remembered what had happened yesterday and where I was. But after a few short seconds, realisation of what did indeed happen came to mind. I sigh looking around the room, when I first arrived here, I was much too preoccupied with the matter of escaping this place that I didn’t take time to have a look around. The room was quite big, probably double the size of my bedroom back at my apartment. The layout of the room seemed very rustic, whoever designed this place really liked the country vibe. There was a door in front of the bed which I discovered was the bathroom, which was also huge with a shower and a bath! To the left of that door stood a dark wood chest of drawers, which I’m unsure if there are any clothes in there to start with. To the right of the bed stood a large bookshelf, many dark coloured books to match the dark wood of the objects in the room, it’s
I sat on the window ledge looking out into the distance, what seemed to be like such a lovely day was mocking me in a sense. I wanted nothing more than to leave this stuffy room and feel the warm sun on my skin, but I also want nothing more than to eat something and especially, have something to drink. I turn my head back to bed where the plate of food still sat, the glass of water on the beside table seemed to mock me in a sense too. I can’t allow Asher to see how much I really needed that; the wall of residence has to stay up. But the mouthwatering food looking back at me was causing that stance to be hard, perhaps a tiny unnoticeable bite wouldn’t hurt. I was about to climb from the window seat when I heard the key being placed into the door, I snap out of my trance and put my legs back up on the windowsill and turn my head to look out into the distance. After a few short seconds, I hear the door open where I turn my head once again. But to my shock and slight disappointment, it
I battle my way deeper into the woods, with every step that I would take further, the thicker the woods seemed to get around me. I suspected the woods would thin out soon and I’d be able to find a main road, from then it would be smooth sailing to finding a town to help me. But with every tree that I would pass, even more would appear ahead of me, it was as though this wood was never ending. I begin to get lightheaded as I went, my body was begging me to turn around or even try to get some water, but I couldn’t hear any running water which would indicate a stream was somewhere close. My once fast and steady pace had turned into a slow stumbling motion, the tree roots, and the uneven ground below me not aiding my escape. I had reached a huge oak tree but had to stop, the entire world was spinning so much I couldn’t tell what way I was to go. I place my hand onto the tree and look down at the ground, I hoped if I was able to stop for a few moments I would start to feel normal once aga
After a few more hours in the hospital room, the doctor from before informed us I was okay to leave but I was still need to be monitored over the next few days. I was a little confused on why everyone was so panicked over me not drinking for a few days, but it seems as though they weren’t taking any chances. He spoke mostly to Asher, going over how much water and food he wanted me to have on a daily basis going forward, something about not overwhelming my body with a ton of food. Asher thought it would be best if he and the doctor went into more details outside the door, he didn’t want me to also get panicked with the longer the doctor remained in the same room. I sat crossed legged on the bed waiting for their conversation to come to an end, the overpowering silence was allowing my brain time to recall the terrifying memories I have locked away. I attempt to shake them off, but one got through the block. The sounds of sirens drawing closer to me is what begins to bring me around, I
After a few more moments, we had arrived back in the room I had previously escaped from. But this time, the window was open, so it was nowhere near as stuffy as it was when I was trapped in here last time. I thought Asher would just dump me onto the bed as like he did before when I was first brought here, but instead, he walks over to the bed and crouches slightly so I could easily jump down. He turns to make sure I was safe before heading over to the window, I guess the little air I thought I would be getting is gone, perhaps they were airing out the room until I was brought back to the prison. “Yay I’m back in my own personal prison, windows and doors are all locked just in case I escape again!” I exclaim laying down on the bed facing the ceiling, I suspect I was hoping on the way back that things would be different now, me and Asher bonded back in the hospital but apparently, I was wrong. “Do you think I enjoy treating you like this; I would want nothing more than for you to be
The continued sound of tapping causes me to stir in my sleep, I shake my head and roll to the side in hopes of dismissing the sound where I could fall back to sleep. But now I had given the sound my attention in the beginning, the tapping only intensified and made the idea of sleep simply leave my mind. I slowly open my eyes; the bedroom was still dark which told me it was most likely extremely late in the night. I begin to scan the section of the room which I could see from where I was facing, but the bedroom door was still closed, and nothing seemed to be out of place to make that noise. I stay in the same position for a second in hopes I would be able to hear what was making the noise without looking, the thought of turning over and seeing something terrifying consumed my mind. I begin to listen more closely; the sound was very persistent like it knew I had woken up and was just attempting to ignore it. The sound only got that much more terrifying when I figured out what was bei
A week soon flies by after the war, my days being anything but relaxing. The first day was spent with me being checked over by a doctor. No matter how many times I would tell Asher that I was fine, he insisted that a doctor check me over just in case I had been nipped by a vampire and just didn’t know it! Yes, I know how that sounds but he wouldn’t have any of it.Once the doctor found that I was okay, like I had repeatedly told Asher, I spent the next day speaking with the pack members. They were all overjoyed and offered me kind words and hugs for saving them, I smiled thanking them but also reminding everyone I had not been fighting alone. They had all of the fighters and Thomas to thank also, which everyone was more than happy to do.Speaking of the fighters, none of our men were killed and only one had been injured but not severely. I visited him in the hospital where he was still up and about, due to make a full recovery. The celebrations had not only been within our pack, many
Within a matter of ten minutes, all of the woman and children were safely hiding in the basement, while I stood with Thomas and all of the fighters waiting for my call. Going into this, I thought I would be absolutely, terrified standing here about to set off but to not even have Asher beside me. But perhaps it was because I knew what I was doing or, they had taken Asher from me, but I was more than ready to make each and every one of those disgusting monsters pay for everything they had done to so many people.Thomas walks over to me with that same worried look on his lips, he wasn’t in armour as he was one of the fighters which will be in wolf form to take on more of these beasts.“You look ready.” He smiles coming to a stop right in front of me, I only nod my head staring back into the forest a sea of trees filling my view, somewhere in there was Asher being forced to watch all of this unfold.I couldn’t mind-link him to even ask if he was okay, it was as though there was something
Five weeks later. It has been weeks since Asher and I arrived back after visiting my parents, each day has been busier than the last. Every morning, I have woken up at 4am to begin my training with Cameron, those training sessions lasting until 7am. When I went into this whole training with Cameron, I was under the impression that he’d be his jokey self and we’d have a great time. Yes, he does have his moments in between exercise where he makes a joke, but most of the time, he’s serious.~~Cameron stood in front of me with his claws extended, we had just done an exercise with swords as the vampires are known to use them, but he wanted me to be prepared for everything, so now he was using hand to hand combat.I was able to block his first hits, we had also worked so hard on my speed, so I’d be able to dodge any of the enemies blows to my body. I was able to grab his arm as spin him around, but when he turns to face me, his claw cuts into my arm where a long cut sat.“Ouch.” I say taki
We were soon woken up by my mother telling us dinner was ready, but both me and Asher had a solid few hours of sleep which will get us through the long drive home. I know I never told my dad that I wanted my mothers famous Cumberland Pie, but boy have I missed this! My mother has been making this ever since I was little, it’s my favourite dish of hers. Even Asher seemed to really enjoy it, but deep in his mind, I knew he couldn’t stop thinking about Justin and the safety of the pack. He would engage in conversation whenever he was spoken to, that same smile on his lips answering whatever question my mother would ask. To his delight, the time had come for us to head home and deal with Justin. We were stood outside of our house with my parents, my mum getting teary eyed as she watched Asher sort the car to leave. I knew I should stay longer as I had been away for months, but I couldn’t just abandon the pack at a time like this.“Are we not going to see you again for another six months?
The awkward tension which lingered in the air was thick, neither men uttered a word and I didn’t know what I could say to make this situation better. Asher and my dad were refusing to break eye contact, to show the other that they weren’t scared and definitely, wouldn’t be the first to back down.“I’m curious if you’ve only shacked up with my daughter because you really want to be with her or, it’s just yours and fathers way of getting back at me.” My dad says crossing his arms over his chest, but I only roll my eyes at his stupid comment while Asher, let’s out a low growl in his direction.“I’d watch your mouth Fawcett, you may be my mates father, but I will still rip you to shreds given the opportunity.” Asher growls out looking my dad in the eyes, I step forward taking his arm in hopes he wouldn’t begin to swing for my father.“Well, I guess I’m not understanding, I leave your town because of disagreements and now you’re suddenly, mated to my daughter. Tell me how that makes sense.
I was soon sent upstairs to pack a bag for the trip, I knew we were only going for one night, so I didn’t have to pack much. I wasn’t giving myself much time to think about what was happening, I was actually going back home to see my parents after all of this time. Yes, we have to sit down and ask my dad questions I never thought he knew anything about, but just to see them will be so lovely. But there was also a little issue I had found, what if my mother asks where I have been and won’t let me leave? What if Tanya, has returned home and I run into her? Am I going to have to lie to them? What if they ask to return with us, it’s much too dangerous?!I zip up the bag after packing my own things and Asher’s, I made sure to ask him what he wanted me to pack beforehand. He was downstairs talking with Thomas and Cameron, making sure they were fully equipped to run the pack whilst he isn’t here. But also, telling them the conversation we had goes no further and that includes Becky.I mean t
I stare down at the photo still at a loss, my dad and Asher’s were best friends? Why did I never know this before? I knew my dad was in the army for a while but after I was born, he stepped back and started working as a mechanic so he would be closer to home to help my mum raise me. But I had no idea he came all the way out here! That must mean my dad also knows about werewolves, so when my mother used to tell me the story about The Unknown Luna A, did he know what she meant? Did he ever tell her?!“Are you sure it’s your father?” Thomas asks picking up the photo while I get to my feet to pace, but when I turn to look at him raising my eyebrow, he understands. “I guess now that I’m really looking at his face, you do have some similarities.” He shrugs placing the photo on the table once again, but I still couldn’t understand what any of this meant.“Why does my father have anything to do with this situation, Spencer said this will all point to us finding out who this spy was, but it’s
Thomas and I soon arrive back home, I didn’t fully understand how I was going to be able to explain this all to Asher. I was fully lost myself on what all of this meant, I went to see Patricia in hopes she would offer me more insight, but she only answered questions I didn’t even know I needed answers to.Thomas suggested we head in Asher’s home office, that and his pack house office were two of the most secure places. We don’t need the spy for the vampires coming around and seeing everything we had, they’ll find us when we want them to find us.Asher had a mini table beside his desk, I suppose it was if he had to have meetings with more than one person, they could all sit around the table together. I sit at the table pulling the file out into the open, thankfully, none of the papers have fallen out on our journey here. Thomas pulls out the chair beside me with a smile, but when I place the necklace down on the table, he shuffles away a little.“You really don’t like that thing do you
The safe was full with a huge folder, what seemed to be jewellery and a type of liquid in a bottle looking back at me. I turn back towards Thomas in hopes he knew what any of these things were, but when he gives me the same look I had on my face, I see we were both at a loss.I reach forward and pick up the first item, it was a long silver necklace which wrapped around my hand once I had picked it up. Thomas backs up even more once he saw, I guess he was very much scared of that silver touching him. But now it was out of the safe, I could look and take in all of the many details. The pendant was of a man with a beard his eyes closed but a crown on his head, whatever this necklaces purpose was, it seems expensive. But also, I felt as though I knew this from somewhere yet, I still have no idea where from.I unwrap the necklace from my hand and gently placed down on the hardwood flooring, the light from the window causing it to sparkle and glisten. I now reach for the white liquid in a c
