Chapter 5

Knight is sitting on a wooden armchair facing Von and in between them is a wooden table.

Lance and Beatrice were also still present in the room and carefully analyzing Knights magical power that's surging yet contained masterfully within his body. It's almost impossible to detect without the aid of a magical item. Beatrice's magical item is her earring on her right ear and Lance's were his grimoire, a black book that he carries on his left hip secured by a leather strap.

Von made a gendo pose - (a thinking pose with both hands in front of the eyes and elbows on the table.) - and looked directly at Knight.

"Are you certain that you do not know what power you possess?" He asked. 

Knight just replied to his question by nodding.

Von casted a magical barrier to prevent outsiders from eavesdropping using any skills and supported it with another small but much more concentrated barrier. It's invisible so no one will notice the barrier, even the three people in the room with him didn't notice that he cast such barriers.

"You will be excused from the two tasks and will immediately proceed to the third and final task when the day comes." He(Von) said without hesitation.

Lance and Beatrice were completely caught off guard by Von's statement.

"WHAAT?!" They asked in a loud voice and improper manner. 

Knight on the other hand was speechless because of what just Von said.

"Your power is beyond the others. You already surpassed them, even the SS+ ranks will now think of you as a rival or worse, a target to eliminate for threatening their position and status. No one would just accept an orphan who lives outside the walls as their equal or superior.

So you must lay low and hide your power until the third and final task. That way you'll be safe." He explained.

"Wait a minute, Supreme Principal. You mean I can't participate?" - Knight 

"What I mean is you'll be treated as a VIP but in secret. You won't participate in the first two examination tasks because you already passed the qualifications needed for those tasks." Von snapped his fingers on his left hand and a table appeared.

This examination will be a knockout examination. To fail once means there's no second chance, and having a victory won't determine that you'll stay in the game.

Even if you did pass the first two tasks, if you're defeated on the third you'll still be eliminated." He stood up and increased the size of the participants table.

"The number of participants is roughly forty thousand. But only six will be chosen. A large number of participants for six bearers of the ring don't you think?" He questioned the three while looking at the window behind his seat.

"The King said that there will be a task that is designed only for specific types of elements, correct?" The three nodded in approval.

"But!" He turned to them with his left hand pointed at the ceiling.

"He didn't say what task it will be exactly. That task will be the third task." He raised his index, middle, and left finger to show the number three.

"It's a free-for-all." Lance answered. 

"Correct! But, it will be a free-for-all for each element. One against all." Von just gave them a big piece of information about the third task but he won't tell them about the first two.

"If it's a free-for-all, then I get to meet other wind element casters?" Knight asked with excitement.

"Correct, and you'll win it. The moment you blocked my aura outside…you already won." - Von

"But what will I do if I'm excused from the first two exams?" Knight asked the principal. 

"Well," He sat back on his chair.

"…you can watch the examinations happen or roam around the city. There will be agents that will keep an eye on you from the shadows to make sure no harm comes to you." Von replied.

As they were talking inside the office, a big explosion in the sky occurred. It was because of a bright red firework signaling the start of the first task.

The first task will be a test of speed, stamina and the mind.

A race.

This race took place inside the rearranged section of the east dungeon, a training ground for the Starlian Military. They will encounter no monsters for this task. They'll only compete with other participants.

"Use your mana carefully." A serious reminder that appeared in the sky above the Boys and Girls Starlian University.

The 39,999(excluding Knight) participants were simultaneously transported via mass teleportation inside the 89th floor of the east dungeon. This dungeon, although underground, has clear and sunny skies. The area is also quite large for a dungeon but that is the reason this floor was chosen.

"See you later kid." Lance said before he and Beatrice were teleported.

A projection appeared over Von's table as well as up in the sky spreading across every corner of Starliege.

"And so it begins."

~ 89th Floor ~

Upon arrival, the participants were welcomed by a female professor wearing black robe, short black hair and a beautiful face. She's approximately 5'8(172 cm) in height and has a sharp gaze with her pair of crimson eyes.

She communicated with them via a small Sevenths and began to talk.

"Good morning participants. I am professor Amelia and I'll be the one to give you basic info about this first task.

The distance of the race is unknown. It'll be a run till you reach the finish line exams. Participants are allowed to use their magical element to assist them in this task but there will be no natural mana regeneration. Usage of potions and other mana regeneration items are also not allowed and even stopping for a couple of seconds will eliminate you from this task.

Upon reaching the finish line, two teachers will assess their performance and will decide if they're still capable of continuing the task.

You're also not allowed to hinder other participants while in this race." She explained.

"Where's the fun in that?" Peter asked.

"Her Highness Princess Yuna requested it to be that way to give everyone a chance to focus only on the race and nothing more." She replied.

"The Princess?" A commotion started just by hearing the Princess's name.

"Silence!" With a powerful aura released by the professor in front of the participants, the commotion stopped.

"The Princess may be kind on this task but she won't be on the second and third task.

This is merely just to give you a head start.

Now get ready."

The professor teleported out of the dungeon and a giant timer appeared before them.

"Good luck Beatrice." Lance smiled. 

"Don't get left behind you two." - Shó

"Let's all meet up at the finish line." Rhea and Layla said in unison.

START!

And so the race of the 39,999 participants started. Some began propelling themselves up in the air using Air and Fire elements to put distance against them and the others. This could be a good start for others but if they forgot about the rules that the professor just said then it will turn bad for them.

Knight and Von are closely watching the race from the monitor inside the Supreme Principal's Office and are taking a closer look on how the participants handle the race.

The examination has started but the eyes of a mysterious girl are fixed on the kid inside Von's office. She watches him through a magical orb while she's surrounded by colorful spirits in a form of glowing marbles.

"You seemed to have taken a liking to this boy." A blue spirit gets closer to her left cheek.

"You think so?" She asked with a soothing soft voice as she turned her sight towards the spirit.

She again turned to look at the orb.

"I don't know. It's just that there's so much calmness and warmth coming from his aura. Like we know each other." She added.

She continued to observe him and was clearly interested and wanted to meet the person being shown by the orb.

"I hope I get to meet him."

She smiled softly after saying this and the spirits are overjoyed to see her smile.

: Magical Types :

Common:

Fire - have blue and red classification. (Blue Fire) is the same as Red Fire, what makes it different is the area and range that it can cover and reach. 

Lightning - Red and Blue. (Red Lightning) is the combination of blood particles and lightning magic of the caster. This type of lightning can be conjured by anyone but could cost them their life if they're not careful. Risky to use, but is very destructive if successful. (Blue Lightning) uses pure mana. Not as destructive like the Red Lightning.

Water

Earth

Light - This type is between Common and Rare. This type of magic is an ability that anyone have upon being born but they usually disappear and be replaced by other type of magic depending on their compatibility(The person and the magical type).

Rare:

(Red Fire) is pure destruction. This type of fire element is cosidered rare because not all of the users can reach this level. Those that can cast red flames 

Space - manipulation of space. Casters can have absolute control of the area or create an area that they alone can control. (includes teleportation ability)

Air/Wind

Gifted:

Multi-Element users

Transformation Abilities (can change their appearance into another person)

Shapeshift (will be described in the story)

Excellent Eyes - ability that only the members of the Royal Family possess. (includes seeing the past, seeing the aura of others.)

Lost Magic:

Void - a very powerful magical element that breaks the border between magic and science. 

Nullification - completely erasing the magic released by the opponent.

Dispel - destroying the magical configuration of the spell.

Forbidden:

Dark - a magical element that corrupts the user if left unchecked or restrained.

Magical Corruption - the corrupted individual will go on a rampage and will wreak havoc. They became pure vessels of destruction with no sense of reasoning left. 

*Gods

Fur - Takes the form of a white cat that can fly. Genderless and likes to roam between realms.

Zatan - The god of The Forgotten(will be introduced in the story). A Dark Dragon that surpassed the Celestial Level.

Seven Realms: 

Faero - Can only be entered by passing through the galactic gates of Dwargo.

Dwargo - Can be entered by passing through the Southern Pillar of Starlia and the Fairy Gate of Faero.

Starlia - Have multiple travel routes but doesn't have a gate that can reach Faero

Dark Realm - Can only be entered by passing through Sol.

Heavens Realm (Where the war is raging) - Can be entered using Starlia's Southern Pillar, Sol, and Dwargo's Second Gate which is now closed and unusable because of the war.

Sol - The graveyard of planets. There's only one planet left in this realm which is called "The Land of Demise."

Sacred Realm - Realm of the Celestials

Boys and Girls Starlian University - a university that takes the form of what the students imagine in terms of architectural design. The inside of the school also adjusts depending on what the student needs. It's a school of magic and the place itself is magical.
