We came from the heavens in the form of dust. That is what made us the humans we are today. The knowing where we come from only is known to a select few. The ones who dream of the stars and planets so far away. The ones who know we will always be Star Dust in the end.

Chapter 1
There is only one planet that we know of that holds life. It is the Earth. Our home. However, there is a small percentage of the population that never lost their true parentage. They know where they really come from, and it isn’t Earth’s perfection. They are called to watch the stars. They can see the differences that the normal humans can’t see. They instinctively know they came from the heavens. They are the ones who call themselves the Seeds of the Stardust.
Only a few know that their home is from the stars, though, in modern times, people have suggested the idea that they are all from the dust of an exploding star. There is much more to the idea than those very few understood. A long time before humans even existed on Earth, there were other humanoid creatures throughout the universe. One race, though, knew their home planet was dying. They wanted to continue their journey. A handful of special beings were chosen. Their essence was taken and broken down to the smallest molecule. Hundreds of thousands of these molecules were then placed in a special transport on a small rock. Then the rock was shot into the heavens of vast space where it was hurdled through space as what humans called meteorites.
It took thousands of years to reach the Earth for one of these rocks. It was one of three that was sent in the direction of this one tiny little planet that life was just beginning. That was when the rock landed and spread the dust from the stars to the creatures that were there. Only it took with one hybrid race of beings. The beginning of yet another sub-species that many would never know was really there amongst them.
They would begin the learning about their new planet. They would lead the others through all the hardship. They would be the ones that sat and watched the universe around them at night and wish they were back amongst the stars. It was the only thing that could calm and soothe them.
Most of the humans that are on the planet don’t even realize how their species came to be. They think it was an accident that only one planet can hold life. They don’t believe in the fact that there are more planets out in the universe than there are grains of sand on the earth. Some are so advanced they would never stoop so low to talk to an infant of a species like Humans. Some are even younger in their development.
The universe was filled to the brim of life, but humans were one of the only ones who believed they were completely alone here. Vast time and space were beyond their tiny minds that only used ten to fifteen percent of their brains. The watchers of all life hoped one day the humans could open their eyes to see what was really around them. They had the chance to be great. Maybe it would be the small percentage of the seeded ones that led them even more.
The number of the ones who felt the tug to the stars was limited. It had to do with the complex genetics of the ones that were there before them. The first beings on Earth. The seed was there, but it took a lot for it to show as the generations grew. It would be passed on to the next generation, and it only activated for some.
The ones who know because it is in their blood and their beings just know when the others are close. They know they have to look at the sky to see what is really there awaiting them. Pieces of themselves still flying around in the vast area of space. Often they realize what they are though sometimes they don’t. When they are children, the others watch for them. The simple curiousness of children was one thing. The children that were seeds wanted to know more. They had to know. They never lost that curiousness. They were drawn to the stars and where they knew was their real home somehow.
Kristen Lambert always knew she was different though no one else could see her the same way. She loved being outside and looking at the sky from the time she was a small child. She could watch the clouds for hours. Though unlike everyone else, she didn’t see the shapes in them. They were just there. She would wait till the darkness to see the small shining dots that were there, and then she would be calm again.
She never used her imagination as the other children. She talked of things that weren’t thought of. No one could explain how she would even know of let alone understand them. Her ideas that she would write down confused the adults in her life. She could explain the idea of traveling through the stars at the speed of light but couldn’t recite the alphabet yet. They were all perplexed.
No one ever thought to look at other explanations that the small girl was just different or had an overactive imagination. They had heard of the other seed people, but they were not believers. No one could survive lifetimes as a seed. The idea that it was like that was impossible. It simply did not make any logical sense to them. The thought was dismissed as fantasy and never thought of again as a reason to why the last of the Lambert family was so different from a normal child.
Kristen, though never changed. As she grew, her love of things no one else could see only grew along with her. She was different, and she knew it. She had just accepted it as who she was. She just let all the talk about her slide past her, as she only focused on the stars. It wasn't until she was in high school that one of the teachers took an interest in her ideas.
“Kristen, can you stay after class?” Mr. Bridger asked as he looked at her one day after the first quarter of science class. Since the first day of school, he had looked at her slightly differently. Though it wasn't bad or good, it was just like he instantly knew she was not like the rest of the other students. She answered her work and questions when he posed them to her, but most of the answers confused the others in the classroom, but he seemed to understand. Kristen had never had that before with another person. She was not leery of him, but she did have a wall built around her that kept every person around her about ten feet away.
“Of course.” She replied in her small voice as she wondered what she had done this time to get into trouble. She waited for the fifteen minutes looking around the room to find something for her to focus on that would give her the confidence to deal with the teacher that no one liked.
The room had the ten tables that held two students each, and then the lab just outs for them to be able to do whatever the class was supposed to without having to change to one of the classrooms that had been changed over into a lab setting. The person who sat next to her looked over and then rolled their eyes at her trying to find something to focus on. It was widely known that Kristen could easily block out every person if she wanted to.
When the bell rang, everyone got up and walked out of the classroom without any thought to the girl left behind. “Come walk with me.” He said as he looked her over, “You have nothing to fear. You aren’t in any trouble.”
“Then why am I here?” she asked.
“I want to see something.” He replied with a smile. Kristen noticed that she didn’t have the overwhelming anxiety that she normally had when dealing with people. She knew that they wouldn’t want her to talk about the things she just seemed to know about. This teacher, though, never made her feel that way. He had always seemed mostly kind, and he did seem fair with the way he graded things as well.
He was a younger teacher. This had been his first year at the school, and he graduated from college the May before the new school year. Maybe it was his age that made her a little more comfortable around him. From what she had heard from the people around her, many girls thought he was cute. She didn’t see it, though. She didn’t look at men or women the same way. She didn’t think that way.
He opened a door of the small hallway that she saw was his office. He was smiling as he held the door for her to walk in. When she took a step into the office, everything around her eased. She looked up to him with widened eyes, and they were alert as she moved her head to look all around her. She was trying to take it all in.
“I thought so.” He said as he looked down at her, “I hoped to see if teaching would allow me to find one, and I did the first year.”
“One?” She asked as she looked at him, confused.
“Another star dust child.” He said as he smiled. “Another person like me.”
Chapter 2Looking at him blankly as she then turned to look at the room and wondered how he made it look like this. “You can see everything. That is how I know.” He said, “I am guessing no one has ever told you that before by your reaction. It makes sense that you didn’t know.”“That I didn’t know what?” She asked him as she focused on the room and the things she saw in it. The pictures on the wall that made it look like a slice of the universe were right there in his office. It was beyond calming to her. It made her feel at home. It was almost like she had flashes of being near those places, and somehow she knew she had been at some time.“What you are.” He said with a smile as he shut the door. She wondered what was going on. This man wasn’t the nicest of teachers to most everyone. He stayed either in his office, or he was teaching. Anything else was more than anyo
Chapter 3Gregor Bridger watched the younger girl leave his office. Then he remembered she probably needed a pass for her next class. He walked out into the hallway that led to his office and found her against the wall, still clutching the picture with tears rolling down her face. He reached out to her shoulder, and she turned into his arms. Then he realized how this would look to anyone else, so he moved her back to his office. He moved the curtain to block the sight from anyone who dared pass his office and look into his office. One added thing he also locked the door quickly. She needed time to process everything she had just learned. He had that time. He could remember thinking that it was overwhelming when he was told. He thought he would spend his life trying to find another one like him. He didn’t think that his first thought for the future would lead him straight to one. However, the
Chapter 4Months passed, and Kristen signed up for summer school so she would still have the office to help her focus. The two people found the basis of a friendship that went beyond their shared status. This was much more than that. They had found when Kristen actually spoke, she was brilliant. Being told not to from a young age had taught her to keep her mouth shut. Now the last week of school, he was packing up some of the things there. She breezed into the office. “Good morning.”“Coffee is on the desk.” He said over his shoulder as he reached up and took something off the wall.“How did you know I would be coming this morning?” she asked. And he turned and looked at her with the really? Look.“Well, I do know your schedule right now, kid.” He said. “I know you don’t have an exam this morning, but I knew you would be dropped off early, and then you would
Chapter 5Kristen was done with her classes halfway through the summer. She didn’t have to do anything, and she was done with her first half-year with college as well. She had to be pleased with herself. Though, like she suspected, no one in her family even noticed that she had begun to pack her things. She was nearing eighteen, and that was when she began looking for a place to live. She looked at the first three places and knew this was going to be harder than she had thought it would be.When she showed up at his apartment to help him get the worksheets done for the new classwork, she was utterly defeated. She knocked on the door, and he opened it up within a minute. He looked at her and could see and feel her frustration rolling off of her in waves, “what?”“Nothing too important.” She said softly. “Let’s get to work.”“Not so fast.” He said as she
The week of days seemed to take a year. Though nothing she did was right when she was still looking for an apartment. She knew she had to get away from her family, and no one seemed to notice her being there or not. She would look at the apartments in the morning and the afternoons were spent going over paperwork for the next year for Gregor’s class in the middle school. She had managed to make things work.On the day of her birthday, she woke up to an empty house. No cards, presents, or balloons. Just a note asking to make sure the trash was taken out. She hung her head in defeat. She doubted they even remembered what day it was. She went back to her room, where most everything she had was in boxes, and she dug out a shirt and pair of pants. There was one person who seemed to remember, though. He was the one who had been talking about this one day for weeks now.She wasn’t one for parties. She didn’t like crowds of people. The best way
She was staring into his eyes. She didn’t know why he was looking at her so closely. Though she knew he had just spoken, she wasn’t sure of what he had just said. Nothing seemed to make any sense.“What?” she asked when she could finally break through the spell of him staring into what seemed like her soul. The talk about a roommate had thrown her off when he had brought it up. Now she knew he had meant her. She was shocked to the core of her being.“Welcome home.” He said as he moved just an inch closer. “This is your new room.”“You did this for me?” she asked as she looked at him. “The cleaning this week.”“Well, you weren’t supposed to really help with that.” He said as he looked away for a second. “I wanted to do that on my own, but I am not good at that sort of stuff.”“What are you saying?” She asked.“
Gregor didn’t let go of her hand for the entire trip. She just looked at it. He had been so careful about touching her before this day that it was completely new and unexpected. “Just to make sure no one is there, right?” he asked quietly. He really didn’t want to have to deal with anyone else there. Though he would in a heartbeat to make his plans come true. He really didn’t want to get into it with her family on her birthday. She was still getting over the fact they hadn’t done anything for her. Not even a simple happy birthday. Just a note to take out the trash. “no,” Kristen said softly. “Dad is at work, and mom is off shopping somewhere. No one else is there.”“Okay, good.” He said as he continued to drive. It wasn’t a long drive though it surely seemed like it this time. He parked off to the side of the street, and the truck was in the driveway. She opened the door,
After the things were dropped off at the apartment, she was enjoying a few minutes of quiet as she looked at the boxes in her room. She had all the time in the world to unpack them, and she knew that. Surprisingly she found herself yawning as she as sat on the end of the her bed. He walked in after knocking on the doorframe. “Anything else you want to do today?” he asked with a smile. “We have dinner plans, but that is some time away.”“dinner plans?” She asked as she looked at him, completely confused. Though he had said they had other things to do, she thought he had meant things like unpacking and possibly for her to cook dinner. She didn’t think he would have done more than what he all ready had done.“Yeah. I can’t tell you where because it is a surprise, but I hope you know where something a little more dressy than what you're wearing now.” He said as he looked her over. She looked
Though the boys were early, they were of a good size, and neither of them had to stay in the hospital longer than a normal birth. Greg was beaming with pride as he helped her out of the car to go home. He then got both car seats out of the car. Though he knew that his parents were itching to see the twins, he wanted a few days of just them, and he had told his parents that. He knew that they need a few more days to adjust to the newest additions to their family. Kristen was sore, but she was looking like she had used to. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her as she walked in front of him. Though she was still slightly swollen, and she was also curvier than she once was, he thought she was even more beautiful now than she had ever been. He knew how much he loved her when they were in the hospital. Now he could show her more openly. She opened the door, and he walked in behind her and closed the door with his foot. He place
Kristen spent most of the day lying on the couch or trying to watch things on the television. Though she knew the twins needed more time to grow but she secretly wanted them out. The energy they produced at times was too much for her to take as she could feel it in her bones and all around her in everything she did. It was becoming overwhelming to her more and more as she felt she was losing herself within the energy. Though when she said as much out loud, they both seemed to tone it back. They were always there making themselves known to the world or at least their parents.Greg was helping her with even the most basic of things now. She hated relying on him for anything. However, she knew she had too. She had to let him help. It was the only real-time that she could feel anything but the twins when he was around. So when the pains started right before he got home one Friday evening. She knew it was time to finally meet the twins that had been gro
As the weather started to turn warm, Kristen hated the thought of moving too much. The weight she had gained now only in a few sections of her body was just too much for her tiny frame to handle for any period of time while standing. She continued to go to class, but she was able to finish early for most of them. She had smiled as she talked to her teachers, explaining the situation to them, and they all understood. Everyone had understood at the university, which allowed her to take all her tests early, and she was officially done with her first year in college and also some of her second years as well. She was more on track them most students were for any degree. Though she had an idea of what she wanted to do, she was debating with herself as well.Greg was still working hard at his classes though he often would call home in between his classes to make sure she was okay. He would smile at his students as they walked in and would
Greg settled into the bed and again knew he was trying to search within himself for the answers he now needed to have. He began to drift off to sleep. She was now comfortable next to him now. She was now fast asleep. Greg could feel the weightless feeling that was there as he passed over to the sleep realm. Somehow he knew that this was going to be different. Something was going to happen. With a blinding light, he was standing next to Tok again. Greg looked him over and saw that nothing had seemed to change for the being that was there. He did have a slight smile on his face, though. “Welcome back,” Tok said as he looked over the man. “This time, you actually brought yourself here.”“How did I do that?” Greg asked as he looked at the being who went to sit down on the ground. Greg followed his lead and sat down on the ground in front of the being. He wanted to see what he could do to further his learning of their past.
“Do you ever think about what we had to get through to get here and then to meld with humans? What if we weren’t compatible. How much of a waste would that have been?” She asked one night as they lay in bed. Greg chuckled as he rubbed her back with one arm, and the other hand was resting on where the twins were kicking. The whole process of them growing in her still amazed him in a way he didn’t know he cared about. After learning how to teach the reproductive cycle to younger kids and high schoolers, he did think he would ever really care to experience it like this. Now that he was, it was completely different. This was his wife, and these were his children. It still took his breath away that all of this was real. He was enjoying it more than anything else in his life.“You know, I never really thought about it like that,” Greg said as his baritone voice filled the room in the darkness of the ro
Greg helped Kristen to the car, and they took off. He was surprised at how completely different this night had been than the one before it. She had shined all night, and it came through more and more. It was like a side to her had to be reawakened, and it was now. “Why did you stand up for us like that?” he asked softly.“It was easy, Greg. It was like I had a vision of how much your mom and sister thought they could control you through the way they treated me.” Kristen said as he took her hand in his as they drove back to the apartment. “I have dealt with much worse than those two, and I know how much you wanted to have them in your life and how much it would hurt you. I couldn’t allow that. Just like you won’t let someone hurt me. I won’t let them hurt you. I figured it was just the way to go.”“Kris, I do want them in our lives but not at your expense.” He
Greg looked at his small wife, who was standing next to him, as did his father on the other side. Everyone in the room went completely silent as Kristen stared back at his mother, who was clearly shocked that the woman next to her son did indeed have a backbone. She nodded slightly, only enough for the younger woman to see. “Good. Now that we have that settled.” Kristen said. “I don’t think that we will have to bring anything like that up again.”His mother looked at her, and Kristen smiled. There was something in the smile that made even his mother want to take a step back. Greg was slightly afraid of his wife for a second, as well as being proud of her for being able to do something like that. He had never seen someone stand up to his mother that way and without even raising their voice. His parents had fought a few times, but it was not like that. His father often just gave in to his mother on whatever she was going
Greg shook his head. He didn’t want this to be happening. However, when he looked at his mother, he saw it right in front of him. His father probably had no clue and didn’t know that he was being used as a pawn for his wife. Greg felt his own energy change in a way it never had before. He also felt the babies reacting to his change. He had to calm down. The simple fact he was the one who was causing the change in the babies scared him. They knew he was angry, beyond angry.Kristen was looking at him. She knew something wasn’t right, but it wasn’t until he was almost pulsing with a different type of energy that she knew he was beyond mad and upset. She took his hand in hers quickly. The other woman watched as it seemed the small gesture calmed her son. He had focused on her tiny hand touching his. She was still his center. She would always be his center from now on, and he knew that. As soon as he felt her tiny fingers rubbing his hand, he
The next night they were back in front of his parent's house. He wasn’t too happy that this was happening again, but he was willing to try because Kristen had asked him to. He got out of the car with a sigh and knew that he was going to be on high alert the entire night. He helped Kristen out of the car and then walked up to the door and rang the bell. His mother was the one who answered, “Why didn’t you come in?”“Because this is not my home anymore,” Greg said as he shrugged off his coat and then helped Kristen out of hers. His mother looking at the smaller woman and seeing how her son doted on her. She couldn’t be sure until the children were born, but she felt something was off about her. Kristen looked up to her and saw the look on the other woman’s face. Kristen knew then something was not right here. She was watching Kristen like she was the worst thing that could have happened to her son. Kristen let out a
