Chapter Five

After our encounter with Joe me and Gwen put our danger sense on a high alert, we are always observing every nook and cranny in case any rogue vampire is likely to materialize and as for Dan he got his memory of the event wiped from his memory (by yours truly Gwendolyn), he just sat there eating his lunch oblivious of the heart racing experience two nights ago.

“It’s funny how two of the jocks went missing in the same time frame, first was Kelly then Joe” Dan said thoughtfully.

“I’m sure they’ll turn up soon, what’s it to you anyways?” I replied tactfully.

“Oh nothing, I don’t give a darn about them” I laughed at his choice of words he hated using curse words.

“where is Gwen anyways?” Dan gave a playful pout “am I your lover’s keeper?” I swear I would have bashed his fat face in if only Gwen had not shown up that instant.

“Sorry I’m late but I had to rush through my assignments” I had not seen what she was wearing this morning now is my time to get a good view “PERVV” she squealed jokingly.

“you can’t blame me you look cute when you act sorry” she smiled “oh you could tell my apology was fake?” Dan gave a gasp and threw short glances at the both of us.

“Of course, but I have something more important to discuss with you two” I started telling them the grocery store experience surprisingly neither of them showed any sign of shock.

“Her warning was right, the woods has been a hot spot for ritual killings and unnatural deaths, one time a group of hikers claimed they were attacked by a wolf on two legs only three of them survived out of a team of seven hikers-” Dan paused cause of fly buzzing past his nose.

“A lot of stories are circulating around the woods it’s a surprise some people still have the courage to go hiking there” Gwen said.

“Well I have no intentions of going on a lonely walk in the woods but another thing happened that same evening” I told them about the mysterious following guy this time they were shocked.

“Maybe he was robber” said Dan “ Most likely, but he would’ve jumped me earlier instead of following me around” A reasonable point too cause Ive pondered about the issue for the past two nights, his scent was human but he moved like a supernatural he was even dressed in all black and what was that feeling of fear I felt when I turned around? For a minute I felt like I was the prey.

“Well I have to go now guys, see y’all later” after he was out of sight Gwen leaned forward then whispered “That guy was probably a hunter all black is their uniform, he  followed you all the way down to your house?”.    

“No I lost him round a corner” she gave a look of relief “you have to be careful, they already know you are here” I wish everyone would just shut up with this ‘Be careful’ talk, The bell signaled the end of lunch time we hugged and I got a whiff of her sweet scent once again.

Me and Gwen are offering the last class before closing so this provided the window for me to do some flirting “Is there something wrong with my eyes or you’re looking extra beautiful today?” She gave a sarcastic “Ha-Ha”.

I was a little bit taken aback but I remained impregnable “you may put up a brave front but I know your heart isn’t as tough as old boots”.

“Keep dreaming wolf boy” seriously name calling?.

“You shoulder may be the coldest but I will melt thy icy heart” she scoffed “Is that Shakespeare?”.

“No darling just me trying to shake a spear of love through your heart” now that one got her laughing “you’re so dumb, Vampires don’t have a heart” okay I kinda forgot about that one but at least I made her smile Ughhh what’s wrong with me?

The three of us regrouped at the parking lot after closing waiting for our parents but it started getting late....later than usual and the surprising thing is that Gwen’s father is running late too (he’s never late for anything) Dan suggested we should start walking home before it’s gets too dark. We’ve walked a few kilometers before I got a familiar a scent, the same one I got that evening... I turned around and I saw ‘mystery man’ following us.

“psssttt, someone is shadowing us” they both turned around to check “What are we going to do?” Dan was petrified his voice was shaky and his face white almost as white as Gwen.

“Let’s move faster” Gwen whispered to us, we quickened our steps but it doesn’t seem like our pursuer is slowing down he was 7 yards behind us now he’s even closer than before “There’s no way around this one Daemon we have to fight him” she sounded so determined about her resolve, I nodded in understanding.

“Dan when we bend at the next corner find somewhere to hide and don’t come out till we tell you to” He nodded his head unable to utter any word He’s scared out of his wits, As we approached the bend i braced myself ready for action He’s not going to take me alive
