"Yeah, okay. But damn, man. I can imagine you right now," Inigo said.
The suppressed laugh is very evident in his voice.
"Why? Bibili ka ng inumin?" Agatha asked.
"I'm going to pick up some lost dog," he chuckled.
"Oh... Better be fast, though.
"Yeah, just finished it last night," I replied. Agatha is the secretary of the council for Institute of Fine Arts.
"You don't want to check mine?" Inigo asked.
"Oh, please. Your works suck," pang-iinis ko.
"Hey, hey, transferee. You weren't here last year when I was having my best academic life."
He's right. I wasn't. I spent my first year of college in a different university. I just transferred three months ago. And three months ko na rin nararamdaman ang lakas ng hangin ng isang 'to.
"Yeah, right." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Tapos ka na ba?"
"Oo naman! Last night lang din," he said. Mukhang hindi naman naniniwala si Agatha. Ako rin naman. He said he was out for a party last night so I figured much.
Ten-minute drive or so.
"Gi, move to the backseat, please," aniya at bumaba na. I obliged without so much so as a protest. Probably one of those secretary duties.
Inigo, though, was all smiles. Sabay silang naglakad palapit sa sasakyan.
"I'm with my friends," Inigo said as he opened the door. Halos sabay lang din sila na pumasok. "Say hi, dog."
"Tss. Raf's such an ass."
Muli namang natawa si Inigo. Wow, he's having so much fun. And the guy didn't even look at us. I'm seeing someone pissed as hell.
"You're back," she said.
"Oh, my God. That's Javi. Inigo's cousin. He's famous sa school," she said, sounding giddy all of a sudden.
"Really? I don't know him," I said, never minding if the two in front heard me.
"Aw!" I exclaimed kasi medyo malakas iyon. Pinandilatan niya lang ako ng mata.
"Transferee ka nga pala," she said in a low voice.
Hindi na ako sumagot pa. The whole ride back to school was spent with Agatha and I being silent at the back while the two guys in front are doing all the talking.
"Ano ba ang sinabi sa'yo ni Raf?"
"Emergency. If I know, he's just off to meet someone and just couldn't ignore the chance to make fun of me," the guy said. This time, calmly.
"You should've brought your own car."
I chose not to hear the end of it at nilagay na lang sa tainga ko ang earphones.
I'll get my car."
Sinunod naman iyon ni Inigo. "Thanks, man," sabi noong Javi at nakipag high five ulit.
"I'm Javier by the way," pakilala niya.
Now that I saw his face up close, I noticed his notable features. Medyo similar nga sa features ni Inigo. Genes, huh?
Aba! Napaparami ah!
"Ang gwapo niya talaga!" she exclaimed. I could almost see rainbows in her eyes. I agree with her but I won't show it in a way like that.
"Like me," singit naman ni Inigo.
"No classes.
"He left a pile of readings, though," I continued.
We can all agree that lectures are way better than readings.
"I'll go to my brother," paalam din ni Inigo at muling pinatunog ang sasakyan.
"Bili muna tayo coffee.
For sure aantukin kami nito.
I took that as a chance na mag-order na ng kape.
"Two Lattes, please," sabi ko.
"Thanks," she smiled.
I clicked the link of readings.
Austin Javier Uvero sent you a friend request.
Step upUh... what? Is this the same guy from a while ago? The name has Javier and Uvero on it – which is the same as Inigo's surname. So, he's that guy, right? It's a no brainer. I only said my nickname.I clicked his display photo to view his profile and wow, he's famous. Thousands of followers but only a few friends. Around 400 lang. I was contemplating on whether I should accept him or not when Agatha came."Girl, I think I'm gonna die," aniya sabay salampak sa upuan."Why?" tanong ko sabay close tab ng F
ReplyApparently, Kuya Van knew right away that Javier and I became friends on Facebook. How did he know? That, I have no idea of. Seriously, if it came from Inigo, I will conclude na chismoso rin talaga ang mga lalaki. And it's not like it's much of a big deal. I just accepted Javier's request because I kinda knew him.It has been three days since at mabuti na lang hindi naman masyado nagtanong pa ang parents ko tungkol doon. Ang OA lang talaga ni Kuya. Even Aspen argued that it's very much normal to have friends on Facebook. It's Saturday so I'm at home. I woke up late because I stayed up last night finishing a drama series.
My clock reads six in the morning. "May out of town site visit kami ng Dad mo.
Inigo, on the other hand, was busy on his phone."He just said that something came up kaya hindi siya pwede," I explained. "It's fine. Don't make up scenarios in your head.""Oh... Baka nga importante para i-cancel niya. Anyway Gi, I'm sure babawi rin siya. Don't get too sad," she said."I'm not sad," protesta ko."Sure, babe. Tell that to yourself.""Really..." giit ko pero hindi na nakinig si Agatha.Okay. I think I really am just telling that to myself.
Nakakatakot."Just let me talk first, okay?"I nodded. It's times like this when I don't want to do anything against what he wanted. Kuya Van may be fun and all but when he's serious, he's serious. He's just like Dad.
Fun"Gi, where's your luggage? My Lola, who is in China, asked us to be there for her birthday. Which won't be just a one-day celebration because she'll host two parties for it. The remaining days of the trip, she wants to spend with us. It's autumn now in China so I'm thrilled.I asked Inigo last Sunday to pick up the paintings that I'm going to give out for the exhibit. It was my paintings back when I was in my previous university.
Inspiration The first party held is for Lola's business associates and colleagues, Chinese and Filipinos alike. It's a formal event and it's so unfortunate that I got sick the same day. I've got colds and a dry throat. I don't want to disrespect Lola. My brothers and cousins are busy socializing because that's what our parents want. Socializing. Austin Javier Uvero: Why don't you just go home and rest?
FixedPinagpiyestahan nina Kuya Van iyong rebelasyon ni Dad. I have so many questions in my head! How, where and when did Austin talk to my parents?!I finished my food and quickly excused myself. I went to the pool and submerged my feet in the water. I was having my own peace when Aspen followed and sat beside me."You're anxious," he said after a few silent moments. That wasn't a question. Hindi ako nagsalita. Honestly, my thoughts went into a whirl. I mean, Austin's back in the Philippines, probably taking an exam and yet he has this effect on me! I was never the one to think about the future because it's an uncertain dimension but now I'm starting to. Because of what Dad said."He seems like an okay guy, you know."
— Georgina Meredith —So far, everything about our honeymoon is perfect. The destination, the landscape, the food, the beaches... Literally everything. It's a perfect package to celebrate Austin and I's union.Yesterday, we spent the day doing island tours. I'd say it's one of the best I've ever had, very relaxing that I really fell asleep. He just waited for me to finish."Aus, let's visit the night market later?" I asked when we got back to our villa. Beachfront iyon kaya maganda ang tanawin. Also located on the secluded part of the resort so there's privacy."You want to?""Kung gusto mo."
Austin Javier's life before he met Georgina Meredith"Javi!" Jaco called. I was dribbling the ball and I passed it to him. He immediately released it for a three-point shot. When it went in, he celebrated and looked in my direction. "Nice assist!" he shouted and I acknowledged him.I started running to the other side of the court and guarded the opponent."You're unbelievably serious today, bro. Practice game lang, e," my teammate from the opposite team said. It's true that it's just a practice game but that doesn't give me the pass to slack off. My teammates don't think the same, though. Probably because this is the second game already and the first one was too tiring. Everybody was giving it their all.
The design of the envelope already gave away the letter's intent. Love letter ito, alam ko."You dropped this from your book," he replied and glanced at the book I was holding. Sorry, you had to run after me for this."
— Georgina Meredith —Austin and I are sorting out all the gifts we've received. All of it are delivered in our condo. Ang isang guest room ay halos mapuno na dahil doon namin dinala ang malalaking regalo."Not to sound too ungrateful but wow, there's no end to this," I said when I finished unwrapping another gift.Nakaupo ako sa carpet ng living room. I can already feel my leg cramping up so I decided to stand up and stretch. His arms immediately wrapped around me."You can rest. We're not in a rush, are we?" he whispered before gently kissing my cheek. Dahil nakasandal ako sa kanya ay madali
— Georgina Meredith —"What a wonderful wedding! Congratulations to the both of you.""This wedding will definitely steal the spotlight for next month's issue!""Hay. I do love weddings. It feels heartwarming and at the same time overwhelming. Who knew this many people care about us? I personally didn't so I treasured each and every wish they had for us."Are you tired? We can rest for a bit and eat while we're at it," Austin said."I can manage. Mamaya na lang. We need to greet the other guests pa."Mat
― Georgina Meredith ― "I can't believe my only daughter is getting married," Mom said after one heavy sigh.I can't help but chuckle. "Mom, need I remind you again that I'm already married? It will be a second wedding."Ilang beses ko nang nabanggit na nagpakasal na kami ni Austin sa Vegas pero parang hindi tumatatak sa kanya 'yon. It's just funny to me because I know exactly why she's being like that. When my family learned about my first wedding, they were all disapproving. Not in a negative way, though.
Austin Javier Uvero"Austin!" Gia said and ran to me. Always the ball of sunshine."Hey... I missed you real bad," I said and hugged her tight."I missed you, too. Who's that?" she whispered, pertaining to Pablo. The asshole extended his hand to Gia."Pablo Vergeire. Javi's teammate," pakilala niya."Georgina Sy. Nice to meet you," Gia said and shook Pablo's hand."Okay, that's enough," I said and broke the hand shake. Ayaw bumitaw ni Pablo, e.I noticed he's keen on making fun of me. He even laughed before he took Gia's things."Your apartment, right?" pagkukum
Austin Javier Uvero"Heard Gia's back?" Iain asked when he dropped by my unit."Yeah. Three weeks ago pa.""Haven't seen her yet. Nakausap mo na ba?"I nodded."And then? Spare me some details, man!""We talked. She still won't hear me out. She thinks there's nothing to talk about 'cause we broke up a long time ago.""You gotta understand her. Nasaktan, e. But that's one setback. Work harder," he said and tapped me on my back.I did. That's my plan all along. I tried so hard to win her back. Even if it made me look desperate, I worked hard. I even took a step back to
Austin Javier Uvero"Fucking asshole. What are you doing here?" Giovanni asked when I showed up at their house. The guard won't let me in so he had to go out to see me. With the way Giovanni is looking at me right now, I know his fist won't hesitate to land on my face."Van, tell me where Gia is. Please..." I begged."Leave. Before I punch your fucking face.""I won't leave until I know where she is. Just, please, tell me."I was at my low
