Asher's POV

Pregnant! Raven's pregnant , I'm going to be a father very soon. I can't believe it.

The news was not something I was expecting. It's not something I could have ever thought she would say to me.

Derek and Dale walk in, they see the look on my face.

“What's wrong again? Please don't tell me it's another bad news?” Derek says, slumping into the couch.

“Really, I can't handle any more bad news. Can we just take a break from everything?” Dale says, going over the bar to pour himself a drink.

“Isn't it too early to be drinking?” Derek asks his twin.

“Oh please, coming from you really.” Dale says, flipping him off.

I take a seat on one of the velvet chairs, opposite the bar.

“Shut it Dale, be serious.” Derek scolds him.

“What is it, Asher? What happened?” He asked me.

“I just got off the call with Raven now.” I say, staring at them.

They both stare at me with expected looks. “And?” Dale asks, when I don't speak immediately.

“Come on Asher, don't keep us waiting.” Derek says,

Raven's POV There's a knock at the door. Who could that be? And by this time. We never have visitors, even the neighbors don't visit us.“Maya, are you expecting someone? Is Aaron coming to pick you again?” I asked from the room.“No, we don't have a date today..is someone knocking at the door?” She yells from the bathroom.“Yes, someone's at the door.”“Oh! Okay, you can go check who it is. But, be careful Raven. I'll be done in a bit.” She says. I can still hear the sound of running water. “Okay. I'm going downstairs.” I say, but she doesn't respond, which means she can't hear me again.I head downstairs, “Coming,” I called out to the person at the door. I wonder who it is.I opened the door and holy shit! My breath caught in my throat. I can't believe who is staring back at me.Asher, Asher Is here and he didn't come alone, Derek and Dale are also with him.“H— how did you get this place? Asher's POV Holding Raven in my arms again feels so good and relaxing. Just being in her presence alone helped calm my raging mind.My wolf is thrilled to see its mate again and has been pestering me to complete the mate bond back.He wants to breathe in its mate scent, the scent of vanilla and roses. Hearing the soft and smooth melody of her voice sends chills and butterflies in my stomach and makes me want to fuck her so bad.“I've missed you so much, Raven.” I say, staring into her eyes. She stares back at me with the look of shock, want and need in her eyes, guess she's not as immune to the feelings between us.“I… I have somewhere to be.” She says, loling everywhere but at me. I pull her closer to me, cupping her face. “Look at me Raven, don't you feel anything again?” “No— no, I don't. I don't feel anything. I'm only allowing you to be here because of our child, nothing else.” She muttered.“Liar,” I said.“What?” She exclaims, narrowing her eyes at me. “You're lying. I ca

Raven's POV “So tell me everything that happened while we were away. Were you able to settle things? What did Asher say to you?” Maya asked as soon as we got to the kitchen.“Sshhh, Maya. Keep your voice down.” I cautioned her. She had no idea that as wolf shifters that we are, our hearing is impeccable.I've no doubt Asher and the rest will be trying to listen in on our conversation.“Sorry, sorry. I just want to know how far.” She says, whispering. “Come with me.” I pull her deeper into the kitchen and put on the gas, this should block out voices a little for now.“So?” She asked, when I don't speak immediately. I take a deep breath and face her.“I have not made any amends with him.” I told her.“What! Why?” She screeches.“Keep it down, Maya.” I hissed at her.“Sorry, but why?”“It's a lot more complicated than that. I can't just up and forget everything because he's here.” I explained to her.“But, Dale told me they had found the person responsible for your brother's death and

Raven's POV The rest of dinner went well with Maya and Dale entertaining us and cracking silly jokes.Asher's eyes remained on me throughout the dinner and Derek's gaze moved between us.I'm sure he could sense the tension between us. After dinner, we said our goodbyes with Asher promising to keep in touch and Dale advising Maya to limit her walks.“Oh my God, what a day!” Maya yawns, closing the door behind them as they take their leave.“Thank you Maya, for being there for me today and making such a wonderful dinner for us.”“Oh come in, Raven. Come, let's sit.” She pulls me towards the sitting room, where we take our seat on the couch.“There's nothing to thank me for. What are friends for? And surprisingly, I also enjoyed their company. Dale is all flirty and playful, but I sense a predator within those gentle eyes of his. And Derek, he seems so cold on the surface, but I studied him well and he's not like that. He's very cautious, calculative and observant. He's smart, but d

Asher's POV The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed, becoming chilled.I can feel the spike in her heartbeat, the way she swallowed nervously at being in the same space as I.“You haven't answered my question. What are you doing here in my bookshop?” She asked again.I move closer to her, closing the distance between us, so we are only an inch apart I trace my fingers down her face. “I came to see you Raven, I've missed you “ I whispered slowly to her.“You saw me just yesterday. What do you mean you miss me?” She asked, frowning.“I know, but even if I don't see you for just a minute, I'll still miss you.” She takes a deep breath, closing her eyes.“You can't just show up at my workplace unannounced just like that.” She whispered, yelling at me.“Why are you whispering? No one can hear us from here and there, no one out front in the first place.” I said to her.Her eyebrows knit together, “You need to leave now, Asher. You're disturbing me here.”“I can't leave now, Raven. I'm h

Raven's POV True to his words, Asher waited till I was done at work then he drove me back home. The drive back home was quiet, we just stole glances at each other, didn't say a word till we got to the house.Maya's car was parked already when we got home. Having already texted her that Asher has agreed to having dinner with us tonight.I'm pretty sure that is why she is home so early. Shaking my head, I get down from the far.Asher sees me off to the entrance of the door. “Thanks for today.” I say, giving him a small smile.“See you later tonight for dinner.” I say, turning to get inside the house.“Wait.” He pulls my hand and I turn to face him.“What is it?” I asked when he didn't say anything on time.He pulls me to him and hugs me tightly. “I know you're yet to fully forgive me. But, I'm happy you're ready to give me another chance and I'm going to make the best use of it and prove myself to you again.” He whispered into my ear.I smile into his shoulders, nodding my head.“Oka

We get to see Raven and Maya again and also enjoy Maya's dishes. We don't have to order our dinner. It's a win-win situation here.” He explained.“Hmm, whatever.” Derek goes to the bar and pours himself a drink.“I heard you went over to Raven's workplace, is that true?” He asked.I huff out a long breath. “Yeah, I went to see her and I dropped her off at home after work too.”“Hmm, nice. At least you're making progress with her.” He says, downing his whiskey.“You know, you should take it easy on the alcohol. We're having dinner at Raven's place tonight, you d

Raven's POV I was so excited and nervous to see Asher again. Immediately I heard the knock on the door, I ran upstairs to my room, telling Maya I needed to freshen up, I'll be back soon. But in reality, I just needed the space, I couldn't face Asher just yet. After giving myself a lot of pep talk, I finally decided to go downstairs before anyone starts looking for me.But before that, I decided to put on a little makeup and look good.I wore a black, halter neck dress, nothing too elegant, just simple and sexy and tied my hair up in a bun.I applied some mascara and lip gloss to my lips before heading downstairs.Asher was already seated at the table with Derek and Dale. Maya was setting the dishes on the table.“Look, there she is.” Maya announced my presence but my eyes remained on Asher. His gaze trailing my steps as I descended the stairs, the heated look in his eyes made me blush ten shades or red.A whooping sound comes from Dale. “Wow, you look so beautiful, Raven. Raven's POV Pacing around Asher's room, thinking of everything that was said downstairs.I rub at my temple, feeling a headache forming. What they are asking of me is too much and difficult too. How do I do that? Explain to my best friend that I turn into a wolf sometimes, that I'm not entirely human and there's a world out there that contains shifters and a lot more. That's insane, but at the same time they have a point too. I've seen the way Maya looks at Derek, the way her eyes light up when he's around her and she hears his name. This is the first time I've seen her look truly happy with someone.I don't want to ruin that, I want my best friend to be happy too.And if what Asher thinks is right, that they might just be mate then it's highly expected for her to know who he is and the kind of person she's getting herself involved with. But how she's going to take it, is what I can't tell. I don't want to lose my best friend because of this. But I know keeping this from her will n

I quickly finish up on the dishes and head straight to the sitting room.“I'll leave you guys alone now.” Maya pats me on my shoulders, winking at me before leaving for her room.“Hey,” I say, in greeting.“Hey.” He smiles up at me, patting the spot beside him for me to sit.I sit down beside him and he pulls me closer to him. “I've missed you.” He whispered into my ear.I shiver at the contact. “What? You saw me just a few hours ago, why miss me now?” I asked, a smile curving on my lips.“Raven, if I don't see you for just a second, I'll miss you. I need to have you with me constantly. Do you understand?” He regards me with golden eyes. I suck in my lips, nodding my head.“Good. Now don't suck your lips like that, it makes me want to do dirty that's to

Asher's POV “So, how did it go with Maya?” I asked Derek as soon as we settled down at home. Dale wasn't in sight, saying something about how he needed to sleep off the betrayal. So it's just me and Derek in the sitting room. “What are you talking about?’ he asked, feigning ignorance. I raise my brows at him.“Oh really! Don't start with me now, Derek. You know exactly what I'm talking about.”He takes a deep breath. “Actually, I really can't explain how it all happened, because I'm still shocked over the whole thing. We were together at the club and after I got your message not to come back home I decided we should all hang out at their house. That's how we got to their house. Dale, of course added wolf weed to our drink again, saying it will be best for us to be free and have enough fun. Then things got pretty heated after that. Dale was so out of it, he didn't realize we had started making out right beside him.We took things up to the room and that's all that happened. I don't

Raven's POV After eating the pancakes, Asher drove me back home. The door was opened when we got there.“Strange, did Maya forget to lock the door?” I wondered, looking back at Asher.“Hold on, let me.” He said, leading the way. He opened the door, shielding me behind his back.Asher suddenly stopped moving, making me smack my head on his back. “Ouch, why did you stop?” I ask, peering over his back to see what made him stop.Dale was spread out wide on the couch, snoring gently with a bottle of whiskey still in his hands and popcorn littered on the floor. My brows knitted together, “What's going on here?” I asked no one in particular. “And where's Maya?” Just as I was about to head upstairs and check for her, Derek emerged from the stairs in only pants and socks. He was shirtless and his hair messed up, his glasses nowhere to be found. He hasn't noticed us yet, still rubbing the sleep away from his eyes while yawning.“Well, good morning.” I say, startling him. My hands folded just

Wake up.” I said gently again.“I just need a minute or an hour more perhaps.” She mumbled sleepily into the pillow.I kissed and licked her shoulder. “It's almost noon.”“What!” She sits up at once, eyes wide open In shock.“What's the time now?” She asked, facing me.“It's 11:30 am, almost noon. You haven't had anything to eat yet.” I told her.“What! How— I mean, how did I sleep for so long? I'm usually up by 7 or 8 latest.” She shakes her head, musing over how late she woke up.I kiss her on the cheek, “I must have worn you out then, because you slept so soundly, I didn't want to disturb you.And I loved hearing those cute sounds you make with your nose.” I say, scrunching up my nose.“I do not.” She says, giving me a pointed look.“Oh yes, you do. You need to hear yourself.” I snickered.“Asher, do not mock me this morning.

Raven's POV Seeing Asher standing in the club brought all kinds of emotions and feelings to me.At first, I was shocked and happy to see him, glad that he wasn't harmed or in any form of danger, that he was safe. Then those feelings changed to anger and disappointment. Disappointed because he just left without a word or anything.Anger, because he felt like he could leave and show up anytime he likes and demand things from me.I was livid with the statement he made while I was dancing with my handsome stranger. I was just starting to enjoy myself, letting go of all my worries, just for him to show up and ruin everything.I wasn't going to pay any attention to him before, until I saw how hard his wolf was riding him to give up control.I saw his bloodshot eyes and his fingernails elongated, I could hear the growl over the noise and knew things would turn pretty bad if I don't step in and handle it.That's why I asked the stranger with me to leave because his presence wasn't helping.

Asher's POV “Take your hands off her now.” The menace that slithered into my voice made Raven freeze and the man with her watched me warily.I'd spoken so softly, so steadily. But, the danger was there, sending a trickle of trepidation to anyone who heard me. “Do you know him?” The guy had the audacity to ask Raven. Raven stared at me dumbfounded, the look on her face morphs from that of shock to anger. She turns to the guy beside her, places her hands on his shoulder and smiles sweetly at him.“I have no idea who he is or what he wants.” She says to him and then turns to me.“If you want to dance with me, get in line. As you can see, I'm already with someone right now.” She scowls at me, annoyance all over her face.I know she's mad at me and she has every right to be but right now, I'm on the edge, my wolf is on the edge too.Ever since I found out she was here tonight, I've been riding on the edge of destruction.I came straight here form the pack, only to see some random guy ha

Raven's POV “Any news about them?” I ask Maya once I got into the car.Maya arrived at the bookshop not too long ago to pick me up from work.“Yes, I got an address to their house.” She answered, reversing the car out of the parking lot.“How were you able to get the address so quickly?” I asked.“Well, I asked around if anyone moved in recently and someone was kind enough and showed me the apartment where a group of guys just moved into. That's how I got it.” She says, winking at me. I shake my head at her. “Oh Maya, you're the best.” I say, smiling at her.“Should we go there now before going home?” She asked.“Alright, let's do that.” Maya drove over to the address. “This is it.” Maya points at the house before us.The house is huge, it's two times bigger than ours. Well, I'm not surprised. Asher never does things in moderation.“Let's go find out what's wrong.” She says, taking the lead.Maya knocked on the door repeatedly but no one answered.“I don't think anyone's at home.”

Raven's POV Today's appointment with the doctor was by 10:00 am and by 9:30 am I'm still waiting for Asher to show up.Yesterday, he asked where they could shift and go for a run because his wolf is getting antsy and I gave directions to where they could go, away from prying eyes.I've not heard from him since then. He promised to be here by 9:00 am but it's 9:30 am and he's still not here.“Asher still hasn't arrived?” Maya asked, coming down the stairs.“Not yet.” I say, staring at the window for any trace of his car.“Don't worry, he'll be here soon, he's probably just running late, maybe he slept in.” She says, pouring herself a cup of coffee. She chuckles when she sees me stretching my neck at the window. “You really are so eager to see him, uhn?” She says, sipping her coffee.I turn to face her. “What do you mean? Asher has never been late before. He's usually a little too early or right on time, never late. That's why I'm a little worried.” I explained to her.“Okay, but you
