Finally home after a long day at the bookshop. I just want to lie down somewhere, stretch my legs and relax.
I'm suddenly craving ice cream now. The sound of my phone ringing somewhere in my bag brings me back to reality.
Maya's calling now, she's probably back from her work trip.
“Hello”
“Ravennnnnnn” she screeched out loud, making me move the phone away from my ears.
“My goodness Maya, do you want to burst my ears”
“Sorry, sorry, sorry. Raven, guess who has been promoted?”
“Oh my God! You don't mean it, Maya, have you been promoted?”
“Yes Raven, I'm now the new manager of my firm” she said happily.
I couldn't help it. I screamed along with her. Maya has been working hard for the position, she deserved it.
Maya was the only one who welcomed me five years ago, gave me shelter,.fold.and clothes. She supported me throughout , I wouldn't be alive today if not for her.
“I'm so proud of you girl, you did it”
“No Raven, we did it. I couldn't have done it without you”
“So when are you coming back? We have to celebrate this”
“Of course we do, I'll be back tomorrow and we…” The sound of knocking cut short our conversation.
“Hold on Maya, someone's at the door”
“Alright”
“I'm coming” I shout out at the person at the door. Which could that be? No one pays me a visit.
Opening the door and I was left dumbstruck. The person behind the door is not someone I thought I'd ever see again.
“Ma…Maya, let me call you back” I say, stammering out. I didn't wait for her reply before cutting the call.
“Hello Raven”. That voice, the voice of the person I thought would be my protector but became my tormentor.
My brother Axton Blackwood, beta of my father, the Alpha of the Midnight pack.
I thought I'd left it all behind to start afresh. Axel being here now is not a good sign.
“Ax…Axton”. I stammer out, shivering at his sight.
“Won't you invite me in Raven” he says with a smirk on his face.
“What do you want, Axton?” strolling past me into my sitting room, he looked so out of place in my tiny apartment.
“Hmm, it's cozy here. Suitable for you” he says sitting down on my favorite couch.
“I left, Axton, what else do you want?”
“You left, Raven, do you think leaving changes anything” he sneers at me, standing up to meet my eyes.
“Well, father wants you back and I'm here to bring you back” he says sitting back down and crossing his legs.
“What! I'm not going anywhere with you”
“Oh Raven, when did I say you have a choice, you leave with me or I drag you with me, and do you know what else is at stake?”
Trembling at his words I asked “what?”
“Bryon. You don't return and he dies”. He says, without remorse. Bryon is out little brother, how can he say that
“You can't do that” I say pleading with him, but he raises one eyebrow, a look that says try me.
With a look of defeat I say
“Fine, I'll go back, I just need some few days to clear work.and inform my friend”
“None of that, we leave tonight”
“What! I've got a life here, I can't just up and leave it all” I scream at him. Walking up to me, he held me up by the neck, strangling me.
“We leave now. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes, Yes” I force out
“Good , let's go”. He says, dragging me out with him. I don't get the chance to lock my door or take my phone.
How do I contact Maya, she'd be so worried about me. Axton doesn't care as he drags me towards a black sedan car, back to the place of my nightmare.
Nothing's changed in the pack, even after five years of staying away.
The look of disgust among pack members as I pass them by. Axton drags me towards my father's office.
“Alpha, we're back” Axton says, knocking on the door
A booming voice replies “come in”, and I am dragged into the office to face my Father.
My father spins his chair facing us. I stand there shivering at his sight. I've always been terrified of my father.
“Raven, Raven, Raven” he says, taunting me. “You think you can run from me, tsk, tsk, tsk”.
“Alp…Alpha” I struggle with the words.
“Don't you dare!” He says, causing me to flinch. “You excuse of a daughter. Do you think you could hide from me” he says, laughing out loud.
“You rope your younger brother into it too right?. I own you Raven! Whatever I want to do with you I can” he sneers in my face.
I just keeping staring at my feet, unable to look up at me
“Look at me when I'm talking to you!” I slowly raise my face to look at him.
Nothing's changed in all the five years, Nicholas Blackwood still looks the same, maybe with a few white hairs now present.
He looked a bit rougher around the edges, it seemed his viciousness made him look so rugged, but his attitude was still the same.
He takes a deep breath, as if to calm himself “Now, you will do as I say or you suffer and Bryon suffers too”
“You have been sold to Asher Silver, Alpha of the Shadow pack”. He says so casually, but to me, a bomb has been dropped on me.
Asher Silver, known as the Cruel Alpha, how could my father do that. He really hated me to the point of selling me off.
The look of shock on my face must have been so evident because my father suddenly snapped at me.
“Do you have a problem with it Raven”
“Father please, you can't do this to me” I beh me, dropping to my knees and holding his legs
“Get off me you this degenerate” he says, kicking me in the stomach, making me wince.
But I don't stop begging him, and don't let go of his leg
“No father, please don't do this, I'll disappear forever, please father please”
“It's done, you will be sold to him for the good of the pack” he says with one final kick on my stomach, making me release him.
“Take her away from here Axton, lock her up in the dungeon where she belongs
“We'll bring her out for cleaning later, so she can look presentable to Asher”
“Yes Alpha” Axton replies
Axton pulled me up by my hair, dragging me out of the office. I don't try to fight it again.
It so useless now, nothing going change. Axton throws me into the cell, the same one I was in five years ago.
“Stay here and don't cause a scene” he says before locking the cell.
The tears just keep streaming down my face. I thought I escaped all this.
Ever since everyone found out I was a latent wolf, the torments and torture never ceased.
I'm useless to the pack and my father hates me just for that, I was a disappointment to him. It seems fate didn't like me at all.
Back into the place of my torment just because my father thinks I'm useful to him now, he never cared before when I left.
