/Third Persons POV/

Celina blinked at her friend, eyes wide and mouth parted. “What?!”

“It makes perfect sense”, Flora argued.

Her friend had utterly lost the plot. How could she come to that conclusion? Javier was not in love with her, right? They have only started going out.

“You don’t know what I am talking about.”

Flora sighed. “Oh, but I do! I can see the love in his eyes! The way his eyes never stray away from your face when you both are in one room.”

“Now you are just making up a story.”

The maid figured that it all started with that massive cave beside the Castle. Her answers would be unravelled there. Of that, she was sure. It was strange that Avery was not the one doing it. After all, she thrived on such tasks hoping her aunt won’t ask her to do anything else.“What do you know about that cave? Celina ended up walking in a room that resembled a lot like a small study. She wasn't in the mood to retrieve to the kitchen, stare at Beth and Avery's stoic faces. They were still upset with her. Not her fault. The room she entered was mainly was a sitting room or one of many reception rooms; she had no bloody idea. The Castle was so massive that the eighteen-year-old barely remembered the rooms. Maybe because the maid headquarters and the Prince's room were her most visited ones, she never bothered to explore beyond that.Once inside the room, she admired the bookshelves lining the walls, a small table and upholstered chairs, a plush velvet ottoman and a crystal chandelier. It was too fancy to be a small study. Then again, anything could be possible in a Castle like this.&n

When Abel started to move towards the main door, she followed him in a daze, falling into steps behind him. The small oil lamp in his hands barely did anything but lit up the path in front of them. Celina glanced over her shoulder, making sure no one followed them."A-Abel, are you sure everyone's asleep?""Yeah, I checked", Her friend hummed, his eyes fixed on the path ahead. They were finally in the out, all alone. Crickets chirped loudly, night owls making sound and dark sky staring back at them. They're inside, all of a sudden. Celina didn't even notice—her eyes trained on Abels back. The young woman's skin burned beneath her fingertips, phantom heat sliding up her spine and making her insides clench. She exhaled shaki

The Prince’s fingers remained tracing over her face for another handful of moment. She wanted to move away from his touch but held her ground. Celina tried to look at Javier, yet her heartbeat was so painful and heavy that it seemed to punch her glance into a new direction every fraction of a second.“Celina?” He cleared his throat, his voice making an effort to focus back on the conversation at hand. She blinked at him, cheeks red at not being attentive.“Sorry”“Did you catch a word I said?”“Umm...”Javier shook his head. “I said that I planned something special for you today. Don’t make any plans for tonight. It’ll be just you and me.”

Celina couldn’t believe her ears. She wanted the older woman rather be lying than face the harsh reality. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Abel trying to console the woman.“Umm...madam, are you sure he went in search of the cave?”The older woman snapped her head in Celina's direction; a frown etched on her face. She twisted her mouth. “Why would I lie about it? My son...he worked as a journalist and wanted to find out about people disappearing around that cursed cave. He would talk about it for days to no end.” Tears dribbled down her cheeks, and the maid was ashamed to doubt such a woman. She continued, “One day, he decided to find out the truth about the cave. I tried to stop him, but he’s adamant and went any

/Abels POV/Abel recognised the parts of the forest as he passed through it. His stomach was a knot of nerves, as always at the thought of going back. The place Abel had grown up in was somewhere along the rocky road, hidden in the trees and far away from the watchful eyes of the road.Abel exhaled a breath, noticing the warmth rush away as he got closer. The driver pulled his legs up to his chest, pulling the cloak tighter around his body, ducking his head into his knees and away from the sharp sting of the cold air. He was relieved, knowing that the roof of the car was hiding him from the snow.

It's still dark out, no light shining in from outside, no ray of sun that might've alerted him. The window was still wide open, a thin layer of snow now covering the ground right in front of the Castle. It was fascinating, igniting curiosity in her; that's why she followed him.Her mother would have forbidden her, but Celina skillfully sneaked away. Sitting by the railing, she got to watch the entire scene unfold in front of her eyes. It was breathtaking, watching as the dragons soared in formation across the sky, performing elaborate manoeuvres, shooting at targets both grounded and airborne with their claws or fire darting out of their mouth.Celina's eyes widened, watching as the dragons, as mighty as they stood, leaned in front of her father. One of them let her father stroke the maw, eyes rolling back. What was happening? How could her father not fear for

Her lips parted in shock, a puff of white cloud forcing out of her mouth in the process. That voice. It sounded so familiar. Javier? She refused to turn and meet her death in some underground alley where no one could find a trace of her."Celina, it's me."The sound echoed in her ears. She still stayed in the fragile position, fingers trembling as the maid fisted the fabric of her coat. Her nose brushed against the soft skin of her palm as she tried to cover her face. The more she thought about it, the more breathlessness Celina experienced. She behaved like an oblivious fool all this time, doubting Javier when he's been trying to help her. Her body felt numb as she recalled the broken expression on his face, the defeated look as he watched her leave. The young woman knew he tried to stop her from leaving. She saw his reflection in the mirror of the car but remained motionless. Heartlessly Celin

Instead of turning away from the door and walking back to her room, Celina stayed behind. She knew it was wrong. The young woman couldn't forget the look that crossed Abels face when she told him about the pill. What was that all about? Huddling in the corner as not to be seen, Celina crouched behind the wall. The door was slightly ajar, all thanks to Abel slamming it with much force than necessary. Before leaning down, her eyes flitted across the surrounding just to make sure she's all alone. Releasing a sigh of breath upon finding no one in miles of long hallway, Celina diverted her attention back to Abel. Her eyes widened when she noticed a scowl on Leader Keith's face. Then the voices came. "What did you give her?"
