It was 8:45 in the night.
The cold wind is howling while the hooting of the haunting owls fills the air with dread and tension. Asty stared at the bright moon before her and took one last breath of the forest air.
She rubbed the chilliness that was creeping in her arms and watched as the mist came out of her mouth when she exhaled.
"Let's do it one more time." she whispered to herself.
She repeated his name over and over again inside her head, until the love subsided. She had hoped that by repeating his name, she would get used to it, and feel nothing as the pain won over her. She allowed the pain and betrayal to reign upon her as she had no other choice but to make things right.
Chaol needed a push. As for somebody who had everything in this world, Chaol needed to lose something to feel the pain of the people around him. She needed him to realize; not to do those things again and again and again, if he didn't want to feel the same way.
She
Blood dripping down, drenching the soil, Owl removed the blade that was stuck in his chest. He gazed at his opponent with a murderous glare and spat.Yvonne was already defeated and unconscious, and he was the only one left standing."Dumb, psychotic woman." he cursed under his breath, and wished that she would somehow respond to his insults- but she didn't. "Protecting me like that, how could you be so dumb and reckless?""Stop with the yammering and come at me." the sinister moonchild gestured at him to come closer. "This is making me yawn.""Who the hell are you..?" Owl asked him, with an exhausted voice. His body was almost on the brink of giving up. He couldn't even handle his blade anymore."Why should I tell you my name? We aren't even close, and I am not interested in men.""You remind me of someone so damn stupid." Owl snickered at him. "And I think you've already gotten your ass kicked by him once.""Oh, you mean Chaol? Of c
It was already dusk when Asty and her travel buddies reached the nearest civilization. With tired bodies, they continued to drag their feet until they could reach the village's entrance. The sentries, who immediately recognized Asty, allowed her to let in while Robynn and the other Night Hallows sneaked from behind the trees."Why are we hiding?!" Robynn hissed at Othello and Errol, irritated."We can't let those people see us. They don't recognize us and if we go along with Asty, it could bring her trouble." Errol answered him."Oh yeah, you've been here before, haven't you, vampire?"He sighed. "I have a name and yes, I used to sneak around to get inside.""This is where you met my sister?" Othello raised a brow at him, his brotherly instincts rising. "Are you perhaps interested in my sister, huh, Errol?!"The vampire looked away and shook his head. "It doesn't matter if I do and don't. Let's just shut our mouths if we don't want to get ca
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!"The King slowly opened his eyes from the obnoxious knocking of his door. Slowly lifting himself, he ran his fingers across his tired face and sets aside the blankets that were covering his body."Your Majesty! Please wake up!"Vaughn Garland glances to each side searching for a robe to cover his topless body."What is it?" he thundered, irritated that he was disturbed from his sleep. "You better have a good reason for waking me up or I will have your tongue pulled out.""Your Majesty! I apologize that I have awoken you from your deep slumber. I understand that you have been restless from formulating a plan to cease the war in the North, but this is of an important issue, Your Majesty! Please spare me a time and tell you of it personally.""Ugh." he reaches out to the doorknob and the servant immediately stumbled to the ground before him. "What
Asty stared at the city's rooftops. It was of a shade of gold and rose as the sunset starts to envelop the skies. Staring with her blank eyes, it was as if her emotions were gone. She had already been tired of crying for the past couple of days. She feels a tap behind her. She swiveled her head to the side and looked back to see the King behind her with a tray of food in his hands.Flustered, she brings herself to a bow, which made the King pleasantly chuckle."Don't be too formal. You are my guest. Here take this, you haven't eaten yet, haven't you?"With her lips pursed and brows furrowed in embarrassment, she takes the tray from his hands knowing that it was not suitable for the King to serve her."T-Thank you, Your Majesty. I apologize if you had to worry about this because I was being a neglective person.""That is fine." he told her. "You haven't been feeling
"Argh... hah... hah..."Panting heavily, Owl lies down on the carpeted floor, soaking blood everywhere. Yvonne was beside him, unconscious. Lana hurriedly approaches them with supplies on her hands, prepared to treat the two."What in the world happened?!" she asked them, worried.Owl leaned against the wall while trying his hardest to bear the pain of burning scars on his skin. They had just arrived in time before the sun starts to rise."What did you encounter along the way?!""That prick." he told her, between exhausted breaths. "That prick who attacked Asty in the library.""And it took you two days to come home?!" she yelled at him."How do you expect us to move quickly if we're this beaten up?"Lana takes Yvonne's body and laid her down on the couch. She started to clean the woman's body before treating her wounds.Owl took a glance everywhere. Somehow, he feels strange that the entire castle was quiet and g
Robynn's wrists were tightly cuffed by the feared, Captain Ironfield. He stared at the huge door with his silver-grey hues and pondered how much that intricately designed door costed."Must have been a fortune." he murmured."What?" Ironfield asked him, his brows raised. "What are you blabbering about?""Nothing." he ignored him and stared at his wrists. He didn't even bat an eye or react to it. He was used to being locked and wasn't afraid of chains anymore."You'll be going inside to confide with His Majesty." Yuran spoke from behind him and cleared his throat. "You must keep your head low and never meet his gaze nor respond unless you are opted to do so. Never ever attempt to assassinate the King. There is a reason why the sentries are not needed inside."Feeling the animosity behind their words. Robynn nodded nonchalantly like a drunk man and yawned. "Should I just address him a
Asthenosthene was walking in the palace's hallway when she heard whispering from the maids in the corner. She didn't want to eavesdrop but she could hear a few statements from them so audibly."Did you hear? His Majesty is departing a few days from now!""Again? To where?""I do not know either, but they are preparing the horses in the stable to depart for tomorrow.""Really?""Yes! I have seen it myself. It is unusual because the flagship horse is not being prepared to deploy. However, they seem to be planning a wide-scale march.""That's unusual, why wouldn't they bring the flagship horse?"Asty walked passed them with her head lowered when the maid tried to get her attention."Hey, you there."Asty halted and slowly turned herself to bow at the maid. The maids chuckled, feeling superior over her.
Chaol was reading his novel inside the library when the maid knocks on the door."Come in."Lana opened the creaky, old door, holding a tray with a cup of jasmine tea for him. She observed the male's calm composure as he flipped the pages of a novel in his hand."Do you not feel tired, milord? Reading the same book, over and over again?"Chaol takes the cup and sips on it. "Nothing tires me anymore.""I-I see. I'll be leaving you here then."The maid exits the library, leaving her master in peace. She strode through the halls while watching the sky turn into dusk. She couldn't hear anything– not even the sound of birds, but her footstep echoing on the empty hallway.Everything was just so monochromatic. No music. No hymn of hummingbirds. No loud cheering. No greets.
