Chaol was reading his novel inside the library when the maid knocks on the door.
"Come in."
Lana opened the creaky, old door, holding a tray with a cup of jasmine tea for him. She observed the male's calm composure as he flipped the pages of a novel in his hand.
"Do you not feel tired, milord? Reading the same book, over and over again?"
Chaol takes the cup and sips on it. "Nothing tires me anymore."
"I-I see. I'll be leaving you here then."
The maid exits the library, leaving her master in peace. She strode through the halls while watching the sky turn into dusk. She couldn't hear anything– not even the sound of birds, but her footstep echoing on the empty hallway.
Everything was just so monochromatic.
No music.
No hymn of hummingbirds.
No loud cheering.
No greets.
