Chapter 2
“Papa, what were they talking about?” Caterina asked her father as soon as they all left. She was really upset when her father closed the café and took her to their apartment just above their café.
“He... uh… he gave me some prepositions.” Her father entered her bedroom and pulled up a bag from under her bed. “You are going to your aunt for a while and don’t tell anyone about it. I will get to you soon and we will get back to work. I will hire Sally to manage the kitchen in your absence.” Caterina stopped her father from rambling. She was unable to grasp anything her father was saying.
“Wait. Where and why am I going? And what prepositions? Why would you hire Sally?” She held his hands to stop him but he kept on pulling clothes from her closet until she stopped him forcefully.
“Papa… look at me. What is going on?” she asked in an apparently calm tone. Her mind was signaling her to run away but she couldn’t leave her father.
“Listen kid, you have to go. He is no good man. He will destroy us. He has promised to visit day after tomorrow and I want you gone before him. Now pack your bag and I will call your uncle to pick you up.” He tried to hurry but Caterina wasn’t satisfied with his answers.
“But papa, why do we have to leave our home? This is our place right? What does it has to do with him? We didn’t cross his path right?” She asked him but her eyes opened wide in shock as she saw the horror registered in his eyes. “Papa…”
“Caterina, I… Believe me I didn’t know it will come to this point that I have to let you go. But there is no other way to save you.” He held her hands to make her understand.
“But what about you papa?”
“Oh don’t worry about me; your papa is very strong. And now hurry. It will already take more than seven hours of driving for your uncle to reach and pick you up. Now go and pack while I make arrangements.” He hurried to call her uncle while she picked up the abandoned clothes thrown on the bed.
The situation was beyond her understanding. She couldn’t think of a reason why his father would end up in the Hugo named trouble. But of course she was as helpless as her father and she had no other option but to obey. So she did.

“Do you think old man will agree?” Luca asked Hugo who put the dumbbells on the carpet and went to the bench press.
“And what makes you think I will wait for him to agree?” Hugo said settling on the bench as Luca stood behind him to spot him.
“His daughter is quite feisty I must say.”Luca said in a dark tone making Hugo chuckle.
“What? Did she catch your eye”? Hugo asked.
“You are saying as if she didn’t catch your attention?” Luca counterattacked.
“Honestly, it would be fun breaking her.”
“Only if the old man accepts.”
“And I don’t care for his blessings. She will be tied to my bed by the end of tomorrow give or take.” Hugo exclaimed before he sat up. He was exhausted and sweating profusely.
“Boss, the old man is trying to sneak away his daughter.” Suddenly the room to the gym opened and Hugo glared at him before turning towards Luca who was barking orders at the drivers to take out the cars.
Hugo snuck his guns in the waist band of his slacks that he was wearing and pulled two in the holsters strapped on his naked chest. He didn’t bother wearing a shirt over his sweaty body and who cared anyway.
They piled up in the cars and this time Hugo took the driving seat because he knew he won’t be able to see Luca navigate through the signals and everything. Unaware of the father daughter duo, they had placed a few mic and cams around the café that could catch a sound of a pin dropping on the floor. And that’s how the men were able to catch them, not that Hugo could let them go anyway.
The roads were momentarily echoed with the tires screeching as they halted in front of the café and Hugo didn’t bother shutting down the engine as he marched towards the door. It was closed as expected but the gunfire doesn’t see any lock.
They had just barged in the hall when Luca saw Vittori scrambling inside the café. He was breathing hard not because of running all the way, but the panic that was written clearly in his eyes.
Caterina was running behind him but she screamed as one of the guards held her arm while Hugo shot Vittori at his shoulder. He knew it was a flesh wound only but enough to terrorize both father and daughter.
“Papaaa”… Caterina was trying hard to get away from the guard but the iron grip made it next to impossible.
“Take her to the car and bring whatever luggage she had packed from her room.” Luca barked to his men who ran upstairs while the one who was holding her, pulled her over his shoulder and went outside.
Hugo calmly held a chair and dragged it to where Vittori was whimpering and crying in pain.
“It could have been avoided, don’t you think?” He said in a low voice but Vittori knew better to keep silent. He had already lost his chance of any mercy or survival. He shouldn’t have risked it all.
“pp… Please sir.” He tried to clasp his hands but Hugo tskd at him.
“I only asked for a seventy five percent of your business earnings as the repay of the loan due but you chose to run away from me? From Hugo? And that too with your daughter. Oh no Vittori you don’t know what you did or maybe you did know but tried to outsmart me huh? How can you possibly think that I shut my eyes and ignore what’s going on under my nose?” He was snarling and Vittori was shaking in fear.
“Please sir. I am ready to bear all the consequences of my actions, please spare my daughter. She has nothing to do with it. She wasn’t even aware of the preposition you put forward. I was just scared of her and I decided to….”
“What? You decided it would be so easy to get her away from me? Now you listen to me carefully if you want to see her alive, though I would make sure you won’t be able to see her ever. But take it as a token of generosity from me, this café will be run by me now and you are just an employee.
You have the flat with you but you have to pay all the bills and for Caterina, I will make sure she will be reminded of your stupidity every day and every night.” Hugo stood up with a menacing smile on his face and he would have looked so handsome only if they all didn’t know the devil he was.
“Sir no, please. Please not Caterina. Spare her life please. I beg of you sir.” Vittori crawled to hold his foot but was tossed away with the same foot.
They all left without speaking a word. The doors slammed open and shut leaving a crying Vittori and screeches of tires behind.

Chapter 3Caterina woke up with a groan. Her head was aching and her throat was dry as she had screamed a lot before she was smacked on her temple that had her unconscious. She panicked as everything rushed back in her memories. She was going to leave for her aunty when Hugo and his men barged in and they shot her father and took her away. “Papaaaaa.” She screamed as she tried to get up but realised that her hands and feet were tied up and she could only crawl in this cold and dingy place. She could see it was dark outside considering the window showed no light from outside but it could possibly be a basement too as she could smell the wetness seeping in the walls. She somehow managed to crawl to a door as her eyes got used to the dark in the room. “Somebody there? Anybody? Please help me. Please… is anyone here. Open the door please. i … I want to leave. Please let me go please.” She kept banging with her forehead but there was no one listening to her wails and shouts. She didn
Chapter 4 stm Hugo was reviewing the files when he heard a knock on the door. “Come in”. He said without lifting his eyes from the document he was reading. “Sir, Caterina is here”. He heard his maid speaking before he waved her off and she left, leaving Catering alone and trembling. “The left wing is mine. My bedrooms, gym and office. You have to clean them, do my laundry and cook meals for me. The chef will provide you with the menu. I need my place pristine in the morning and make sure you don't linger around. I have two guest rooms too by the left of my bedroom and usually I have guests with me. You can have your break at meals not more than an hour and then I expect you to wait for me in the living area. Understood?” He spoke in a cold tone. “But I…”. “And I expect you have received your uniforms and I want you in the uniform from dawn to dusk”. He continued. Chapter 5 stm Caterina was nervous. The backyard was filled with hundreds of people. She eyed them nervously as the butler handed her another tray of appetizers to take to the table and serve to the guests. She had never dealt with so many people although she was running a cafe with her father for years. The slacks and shirt was already making her uncomfortable and those heels. And not to mention the tray was filled to the brim. She managed to hold it and serve the guests one by one, ignoring the wandering hands and people mocking at her. She bit the insides of her cheek to hold her tears back. She wanted to shout and stab every hand that moved on her body without her consent. She wanted to make sure not to offend any guest because she was surely scared of Hugo and Luca. It was her fourth trip from the bar to the table when suddenly someone pushed her purposely. She tried to balance herself but failed. The tray fell off her hands and splashed on a few people surrounding her. It
Chapter 6 stm“She needs bed rest for at least a week. She is low on nutritions and strength. I am prescribing these medicines and she needs to take them”. The doctor held out a prescription for Caterina as Luca gestured to Gerald to get it. “Hmmm”. Hugo only grunted. This whole situation was displeasing him. He hated to admit but since Caterina had started working for him, his left wing would be sparkling and squeaky clean. Her food tasted better too but now with her put on rest, he was getting irritated at the thought of having Martha again in his wing. No offense, she was good with what she did but again, Caterina had spoiled Hugo without knowing a bit. “Ask Martha to get on work but make sure to stay out of my hair”. He pointed at Luca and turned to go to his office. He wasn't focused on his work although he had to gauge potential clients for his new business venture. But his mind was occupied with Caterina. Chapter 7 stm Hugo was busy these days. Caterina had not seen him for over a week or maybe she missed his presence. He had turned into a ghost. Caterina would do her work as per routine but since he wouldn't come home, her work load was far less and that would give her plenty of time to think about the things she didn't want to. For instance her father …She had not heard of him since the day she was taken from him and she would often worry about him. Well not often, all the time, but mostly her mind would be so occupied with the daily chores that she won'pay attention to it but now… She was sitting in the living area, aimlessly looking out of the windows when the elevator door opened with a ping. She jolted and turned to see Hugo entering the apartment but what scared her was Luca holding a bleeding and unconscious Hugo. He must have been hit multiple times or maybe it was the blood. She screamed looking at him but one glare from Luca was enough to shut her up. “Call Marco”. H
Chapter 8 stm. Hugo woke up with a groan. His vision was blurry and he could feel his eyes swollen. His head was throbbing too. He licked his dry lips and tried to swallow but his throat was dead parched. He tried to move around but his arm was held to stop him from moving around. “Don't move sir. You are injured and you have temperature”. He heard a low familiar voice. He turned slowly this time and saw Caterina sitting on the chair by his side. She had a thermometer strip in her hand as she removed the towel off his forehead. He instantly missed the coolness on his forehead that was way comforting. He saw as she dipped the towel again in water and squeezed extra water out and placed the towel back on his forehead. “The doctor had arrived and had examined you. He said you have to take proper bed rest for at least a week and you can eat light food. Would you like something to eat sir?” She asked him and for once Hugo was short of words. “Water…. Please”. Chapter 9 Hugo sighed in relief when he was settled on the couch in the lounge. He turned on the TV but kept it mute. The change of scenery was already refreshing and he only wanted to add to the ambiance but wasn't interest in listening in watching whatever going on the tv. He nodded at his staff who were dutifully doing their chores. He was relaxed but his mind was stuck at a specific girl whom he havent saw since he came in the lounge. He tried to subtly sneak around with his eyes but not even a single sight. ‘where did she go’? He thought to himself, trying to get himself busy with his mobile to check the underworld chatting. Everyone had heard about the ambush on Hugo and it was clearly pissing him off. He had to face all this insult just because of a pussy. He picked up his phone to call Luca and ask about any update but just then he saw Caterina coming out of the room. He didn't check if Luca had picked the call or not and hung up the call, staring at her. She had taken
Chapter 10 stmHugo had to take complete rest for at least two weeks before he was cleared to work. In that week if there was someone who had to really test their patience, it was Caterina. She had to bear all the mood swings of her boss aka Hugo. Sometimes he was so calm and relaxed, friendly if you might say, and other times he was a wild lion, ready to chop anyone's head off. Even Luca grimaced looking at the scattered lounge because Hugo couldn't find the tv control that was apparently placed right in front of him. Despite the fact that Luca didn't like to lose, he admired Caterina's calm personality, how she handled Hugo. But among all the chaos, there was one thing Hugo felt. His heart change towards Caterina was so powerful and real that he got scared of himself. He tried to call girls to divert himself but he couldn't make it happen, not that he was answerable to anyone, he felt he wasn't doing right. It's like you want a certain brand of whiskey and it is placed on the hi
