Chapter Thirty Six

Rufus lay on Brad’s belly while Brad stared at the ceiling with his arms crossed behind his head. It was a cute sight, but Rufus was a big dog and he took up almost half of my space.

“To think you weren’t keen on him and now he’s about to replace me.”

Brad rubbed his head, “He’s growing on me.”

“The apartment’s too confined for him.”

“Don’t worry about it. I bought us a beautiful house with a huge yard. For all the kids and all the dogs.”

The mention of kids made my armpits sweaty. I laughed nervously. He probably already had one.

“Unless you want to live in your grandfather’s mansion?”

“What? No. I don’t know what I’m going to do with that place. It’s enormous.”

“You could sell it. I know a ton of people who’d want to buy it.”

“Dad might not like that. I should ask him what to do.”

“How are you going to do that when you’ve been banned from going to his house?

Great question. I can’t believe Sydney stooped so low. I didn’t know she harboured such great resentment toward me.
