Liam’s POV

I watched from the distance, my eyes checked as I saw Maxine mingling with the crowd, singing and laughing as if she hadn’t just spent days in the dungeon. Anger simmered inside me. She had forgotten about me and that angered me more. She wasn’t supposed to be out so soon. I had hoped that a longer stay would teach her a good lesson about obedience and respect. She wouldn't have to talk to me anyhow she pleases.

But her songs had captivated the elders and the people. When the elders were looking for good singers for the moonlit festival, she was recommended. I had no choice but to allow her release. Since then, I have been watching her closely. She seemed committed to finding happiness despite everything, spending her time with her new friends from the dungeon. It just seems the dungeon made her a new person instead of breaking her.

Tonight, she stood on the makeshift stage, her voice tugging through the air, touching the hearts of everyone present. I could see the emotions
