“OH, I’M very serious. I believe her death is actually the closure of your family’s traumatic experience,” Megan stated as checked out some designer’s bags inside the boutique they walked into.

With a quick look around to find something she could buy as a gift her for mother-in-law, Michelle sighed a bit and said, “I still think it’s so sudden.”

Megan turned to her, giving her an expression as if telling her she should rest her mind as the death of Ellaine Suarez was the start of something brand new for her.

“I know this is a little harsh for me to say but I’m kind of relieved that she’s already sleeping six-feet under, Mich. What happened in your family is not something anyone can handle. It’s heart-wrenching—no, it’s even beyond terrifying and to know that the culprit was living and at peace in prison didn’t really compensate what you’ve gone through. I mean no amount of punishment can help remove the trauma. It’s imprinted into your mind, like some scar you can’t scrape.”
