EMMELINE

My mind was racing wildly. Dead. The trackers were dead. Murdered. Just like that. I sat on Darius’s bed, picking at a loose thread on the duvet. I tried to convince myself that Darius had nothing to do with it and it was all just a big coincidence. But if he didn't, who could have done it? And why?

The door creaked open and Darius walked in. His eyes turned dark and stormy the second they landed on me.

"Were you listening?" he asked.

I hesitated for a second, but my guilt churned in my stomach. "Yeah," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

He sighed, running a hand through his already messy hair. "Molly, that's dangerous. What if someone saw you?"

I leaned forward. "I can handle myself, Darius."

He just shook his head and walked over to a cabinet, pulling out a bottle of wine and a glass. He poured himself a generous amount, the red liquid swirling in the glass. He took a long swig, his Adam's apple bobbing.

"Did you kill them?" The question burst out of me be

EMMELINEWaking up tangled in Darius’s arms was… well, it was new and kind of awkward. My first thought was to hide under the blankets, like I could just vanish or something. Goddess, I was being such a dork.“What are you doing?” Darius chuckled sleepily.“Nothing,” I mumbled into the pillow. “Just… admiring the blanket.”He scoffed. “You’re weird.”I peeked out at him, my cheeks burning. “I’m shy, okay? Cut me some slack.”He just grinned, pulling me closer. “Shy? After last night?” He raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes.I smacked his chest playfully. “Shut up.” Just then, the door opened and a couple of maids came in carrying trays stacked with food. The smell of tea and several other dishes made my stomach rumble. We ate in comfortable silence, the awkwardness from earlier slowly dissipating. But deep down, my mind was racing. Now that I knew the truth, now that I had Darius by my side, there was only one thing on my mind: revenge.“I want to make them pay, Dariu

EMMELINEMy hand clung to Darius’s arm like a lifeline as we entered the grand hall, my fingers digging into the fabric of his sleeve. This was a mistake. My eyes darted around the room, taking in the sheer number of people. Powerful people. And holy moly, the women! So many of them, all dolled up and radiating an aura of confidence that made me feel like a stray kitten in a dog show. Then, across the room, The Alpha of the Greyfield Pack spotted us. And instead of waiting for Darius to approach, the man rushed toward us.Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around?“Darius,” he greeted, a wide grin on his face as he extended a hand.Darius clasped it firmly, nodding. “Alpha Gregor.”“I didn’t think you would make it!” Gregor boomed, shaking Darius’s hand excitedly. “Thank you for coming.” Darius gave him a nod and a curt, “It’s good to see you again Gregor,” he said, smiling. Gregor’s eyes immediately flicked to me, curiosity flashing in them.“And who is this beauty?”“Oh!” The

EmmelineThe ride back was silent. Too silent.Morning light spilled through the car windows, casting soft shadows over Darius’s face, but I didn’t look at him. I couldn’t.Not after what I’d heard at the ball.He had a mistress. An official mistress. Not just some random woman—a chosen mistress, selected by the pack's council. And yet, I’d never heard of her. Not once. No mention, no rumors, not even a passing comment. Why?What happened to her?Is she still around? Did she fall down a well? Spontaneously combust from the sheer drama of it all?I wanted to ask. To demand answers. To rip them out of him if I had to.But I didn’t. It wasn’t the right time. My body was exhausted, my mind too drained to argue. What was the point? Another fight? I’d save my energy. For now.So I sat there, staring out the window, pretending I wasn’t screaming inside.Darius didn’t say a word either. Soon, we arrived back at the estate. The moment we stepped out of the car, the crisp morning air hitting m

DARIUSThe knock on my door came just as I took my first sip of coffee.I exhaled slowly, already bracing myself for whatever nonsense is about to unfold. “Come in.”The door creaked open, and the moment I saw Lydia stepped inside, I suppressed the urge to groan.Ah. Right. Lydia. In the heat of everything, I had completely forgotten about her.She had gone home to visit her sick brother, and I hadn’t thought about her once since she left. Now, she was back, standing in front of me with her arms folded over her chest, her expression tight. She bowed stiffly. “Alpha.”I took another sip of my coffee and leaned back. “What do you want, Lydia?”She sniffled. Then, without warning, her eyes welled up with tears.“I thought… I thought you would miss me.” Her voice wobbled, and she blinked rapidly as if forcing herself to look pitiful. “I thought—”I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. I hate tears. Especially the pathetic kind.“Get to the point,” I said flatly. She swallowed, then straight

EMMELINEI let out a slow breath as I poured water over the bed of roses, watching the droplets slide off the petals. The garden was supposed to be peaceful. A place to clear my mind. But my thoughts are tangled in knots, frustration bubbling under my skin like a volcano about to erupt.Darius has a mistress. Not just any mistress. A mistress he forgot to mention.I gripped the watering can tighter, trying to focus on anything except the burning anger in my chest. Of course, he didn’t tell me. Why would he? That would require a level of honesty I should have never expected from him in the first place. And the maids… oh, the maids knew. That much was clear from their judgmental little stares and whispered conversations. I had walked into that house thinking I was just dealing with Darius. Turns out, I was walking straight into a pit of fucking vipers.I took a deep breath, forcing my hands to steady.I knew something was off when i first arrived. The maids wouldn’t meet my eyes. They w

DARIUSA sharp knock at the door interrupted the quiet hum of my thoughts. “Come in,” I called out, my voice a little rougher than usual.I had been staring at the same patterns on the bedsheets for over an hour, the swirls and shapes slowly losing their meaning. No matter how much I tried to focus, my thoughts kept wandering. The soft sheets felt heavy, almost like they were holding me down, trapping me in a silence I couldn’t break. My mind was elsewhere, replaying the scene with Emmeline earlier. Her hurt, her anger...The door opened, and Lydia stepped in. She was wearing a thick, plush robe, the kind usually reserved for after a bath. It struck me as odd. Even odder was the heavy makeup she’d applied – her lips were a vibrant, almost aggressive red. What the hell was she playing at?She bent her knees and bowed slightly, her eyes fixed on the floor. “I’ve come to serve you, Alpha Darius.”My eyebrows shot up. “Serve me?” I echoed, a knot of unease tightening in my stomach. The

EMMELINEI just wanted to eat. That was it. Just a quiet breakfast, a little peace before the day truly started. But, of course, peace and I weren’t exactly on speaking terms. The kitchen smelled like fresh bread and spiced meat, the kind of scents that made my stomach growl. I grabbed a plate and started piling food onto it, my focus entirely on the meal I was about to enjoy. For once, I was trying not to think about Darius, or Lydia, or the fact that I was surrounded by people who either hated me or barely tolerated my presence.I turned to leave, but the moment I stepped toward the door, I heard the sharp click of heels against the stone floor.Lydia.Of course.I sighed before I even turned to face her. She stood there, arms folded, eyes raking over me like I was something disgusting she’d just stepped on."You’re not supposed to be in here," she said, voice dripping with condescension.I rolled my eyes, already tired. "And yet, here I am."Her nostrils flared. "You’re getting too

DARIUSThe moment I heard what happened to Emmeline, I didn’t think. I just ran.By the time I reached the clinic, my heart was hammering against my ribs. My mind screamed at me to prepare for the worst, but when I saw her lying there—alive, breathing—I finally exhaled. The doctor, an old friend of my father’s, had treated her. He knew. Of course, he knew. But he was loyal, and I trusted him to keep her secret.I sighed, rubbing my temples. Lydia. What the fuck was she thinking?I didn’t have time to figure it out because the doors to the meeting room burst open, and there she was. Lydia, flanked by a guard, her face blotchy from crying.Crocodile tears. She staggered forward and dropped to her knees like some tragic heroine from a play.“Save the tears, Lydia,” I said, not in the mood for whatever act she was about to pull.“I—I don’t know what came over me,” she sobbed, lowering her head, voice trembling like she was actually sorry. “I lost control.”I folded my arms. “You stabbed h

DARIUS’ POV★★★★★★Emmeline was pacing in our bedroom, her frustration practically radiating off her in waves. "I told you, Darius! She's lying through her teeth! That whole story about the embarrassing letter and the list? Bullshit!"I watched her, my own anger simmering beneath the surface. I knew she was probably right. My gut had been screaming at me since she first told me about the man in the garden. But I had to play it smart. Rushing in with accusations based on a hunch wasn't going to get us anywhere."I know it feels that way, Em," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "But we can't just throw her out. Not yet. We need to know what she knows, what she's up to.""Knowing what she knows has been going on for days now!" Emmeline exclaimed, throwing her hands up in exasperation. "And you know what else? I feel… uncomfortable around her. She's been making these little comments, these subtle threats… I don't like it, Darius. I really don't."My jaw tightened. Threats against Emmel

DARIUS’ POV★★★★★★At last, Seraphine arrived, flanked by the guards. They informed me that Beta Dawson had come to see me, and I told them to ask him to wait until I was done with Seraphine. Seraphine looked surprised, her normally calm expression slightly marred with a hint of confusion. “Darius? What is it?”"Who was the man you were talking to in the garden this morning?" I asked, my voice tight, trying to keep my anger in check. She blinked, her eyes wide and innocent. "Oh, that was just an old friend…he's a former soldier from my father's pack. He was just passing through and wanted to say hello.""Passing through and just happened to find you in our garden?" I challenged, my skepticism thick in the air."Well, yes," she said, her voice calm, almost too calm. "He knew I was staying here with you.""Did he?" I pressed. "Because Emmeline here saw him too. And she didn't get the impression it was just a casual hello."Seraphine turned to Emmeline, a hint of annoyance flashing in he

EMMELINE★★★★★★That damn letter. It was burning a hole in my mind, and my head was practically screaming for me to tell Darius. But something held me back. What if it was nothing? Just some random piece of paper that Seraphine had picked up? I’d look like a right fool, constantly sniffing around her business for no reason. And honestly, the thought of Darius looking at me like I was being paranoid… nah, I couldn’t risk it. Not yet anyway.I needed more. Concrete proof. Something solid that would make Darius sit up and actually listen. So, Operation: Get the Dirt on Seraphine was officially underway. I spent the next couple of days keeping a low profile, trying to observe without being obvious. It was like trying to sneak past a bloody elephant – Seraphine was very slippery and careful, or so it seemed. Then, this morning, I finally caught a break. I was taking a slow walk around the garden – the doctor said light exercise was good for the baby, though honestly, some days just getting

DARIUS’ POV♤♤♤▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎♤♤♤This messenger's words… they’ve burrowed into my damn skull and won’t leave. Baseless, Sylas had suggested. Just some nobody trying to stir up trouble. But what if he wasn’t? What if, against all odds, someone actually did survive? The thought alone sent a cold shiver down my spine.Another sleepless night bled into a tense evening. I was in the meeting room with Sylas and Dawson, my Beta. The air was thick with unspoken anxieties.“Alright, let’s go over this again,” I started, rubbing the exhaustion from my eyes. “Every known enemy. Every single goddamn threat we’ve ever faced. Could any of them have slipped through the cracks?”Sylas leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. “Alpha, we went over this a hundred times. Every last one of those sons of bitches was executed. Massively. My men personally checked the bodies. We made damn sure there were no survivors.”Dawson, usually quieter, nodded in agreement. “We left nothing to chance, Darius. It was a cle

DARIUS◆◆◇◆◆"Alpha, we got a situation at the south border." Dawson's voice was tight, his usual easygoing demeanor gone. He stood in the doorway of my office, his chest heaving slightly. "Someone tried to sneak in. Got a couple of our guys hurt."My blood went cold. An attempted breach? This close to everything that was happening? "How bad?" I asked, already moving towards the door."Nothing life-threatening, thankfully. Bruises, a nasty gash on Marco's arm. But they managed to take the guy down." Dawson fell into step beside me as we headed towards the border. "He put up a hell of a fight.""Who the hell was it?" I growled, my mind racing through possibilities. Kaelen testing our defenses? Some other rogue pack making a move?"Don't know yet. They've got him contained. He's not talking."We reached the border in record time. The air was thick with tension. I could see a small group of my guards gathered near the treeline, their faces grim. Marco sat on a nearby log, his arm wrapped

EMMELINE◆◆◆◇◆◆◆Okay, so after every talk that went down last night with Darius, a plan started forming in my head. Just being outright cold to Seraphine wasn't going to cut it. She was slippery, I could feel it. I needed to try a different approach, something that might make her drop her guard, even just for a second. I needed to bait her, see what kind of fish this was.So, this morning, I decided to invite her for tea. Yeah, tea. It felt ridiculously polite considering the suspicions swirling around her, but I figured it might throw her off. Plus, it would give me a chance to observe her up close, see if I could pick up on any tells.I asked one of the house staff to let her know I'd like her company in the sunroom around mid-morning. Then I went about my usual routine, trying to act as normal as possible, even though my insides were churning with unease. When Seraphine finally arrived, she looked a little surprised, maybe even a bit wary. I offered her a seat by the window, where

DARIUS◆◆◇◆◆This whole Seraphine situation was giving me a bad feeling in my gut, a real gnawing one. I called a small meeting, just the people I trusted most: Seraphine herself, my beta Dawson…the guy's got my back no matter what… and Sylas, our head of intel.Seraphine started laying it all out, talking about Kaelen's allies, these rogue packs that were itching for a fight. She named names and gave details about who was leading them. Honestly, she sounded convincing, like she knew her shit. But something about her… it just didn't sit right. Maybe it was Emmeline's words echoing in my head, planting seeds of doubt."So, these packs," I started, leaning forward on the table in my study. "You're sure about their involvement?"Seraphine nodded, her eyes earnest. "Absolutely, Alpha. These are the ones Kaelen has been grooming for years. They're loyal to him, waiting for his command… and now, they can't wait to take revenge for his death."Dawson, ever the logical thinker, chimed in. "An

EMMELINE■■□□□□■■Ugh. I swear, sometimes I just need to punch something. Or someone. Today, that someone was definitely Seraphine. I’d gone down to the training grounds hoping to catch Darius before he got too deep into whatever Alpha duties were hogging his time today. Instead, what did I find? That leech, Seraphine, perched on a rock like she owned the damn place, watching Darius go through his paces. He was looking good, I had to admit. Sweat was beading on his forehead, muscles bunching with every strike against the dummy. He was putting in the work, no doubt about it. But the sight of Seraphine just… grated on my nerves. She was clapping when he finally finished a set, her voice all sugary sweet as she called out, “Excellent work, Darius! You’re looking so strong.”My teeth practically ached from grinding them. Seriously? Strong? Like he needed her to tell him that. I could feel my blood starting to simmer. This was our territory, our pack. She was supposed to be an ally, someon

EMMELINE’S POV■■■■■□□□■■■■■The way Seraphine looked at him… it was subtle, almost imperceptible to anyone who wasn’t me. But I saw it. The slight tilt of her head, the lingering in her gaze just a fraction too long. And the way she spoke to him, her voice a little softer, a little more… sugary than it was when she addressed anyone else. It made my teeth grind. They were in the war room again, poring over maps spread across the large table. The dim light of the oil lamps cast long shadows, making the atmosphere feel even more secretive. I’d been trying to distract myself with needlepoint in the corner, but my fingers kept fumbling with the thread. Every now and then, a laugh would drift my way – Darius’s, usually, prompted by something Seraphine had said. It was a casual laugh, the kind he used with his friends, with his commanders. But it still felt like a punch to the gut.Jealous? Maybe. A little. Okay, maybe a lot. It wasn’t just about Darius, though. It was about the way she was
