Gina attempted to walk away, but she felt a hand over her face, and the next thing she saw was total blackout. One of the men had quickly walked behind her and placed a handkerchief containing a sleeping powder over her face, while the rest of the guards carried her carefully to the car and placed her in the back seat.
"Thanks for your cooperation, Sonia. You will be heavily compensated," Kendra said to Sonia.
"Whatever, I hope you don't ever bother me again," Sonia replied with an eye roll.
"Sure!!!" Kendra beamed as he walked back to the car and zoomed off.
A few hours later...
Gina woke up after a few hours only to find herself in a cold room with many young girls of her age. She scanned the room, trying to recall what had happened and how she found herself in this strange place. Earlier, her mom had promised to sponsor her at Hawaii College, but the last thing she could remember was a group of men claiming to be from Hawaii College asking her to get into a black car. The question was, "How did she pass out?"
She turned slightly and saw a young lady of her age with swollen eyes, as if she had been crying for a long time. But Gina desperately needed to know if they were in Hawaii College.
"Hello, please, where are we? Are we in Hawaii College?" Gina asked, but the girl ignored her for a while before finally deciding to answer.
"We're in Atlanta," the girl said solemnly.
"I don't get it, what is Atlanta?" Gina asked, confused.
"Atlanta is a place of no return. It's where children are made to pay for their parents' debts," the girl said, further confusing Gina.
"Is this a joke or what? Where is my mom? I was supposed to be at Hawaii College, not Atlanta or whatever you call it," Gina said worriedly, but the girl ignored her.
"Was I kidnapped? I'm not supposed to be here. I think they've got the wrong person. Please, talk to me," Gina said restlessly.
"Nobody comes to Atlanta by mistake. The Alpha doesn't kidnap anyone for no reason. We're all here because of the debts our parents committed in the past. Either your parents borrowed a huge amount of money from his lordship's late father and used you as collateral, or they borrowed a large sum of money and failed to repay," the girl explained, leaving Gina even more bewildered.
"I knew it! There must be a misunderstanding. My mom is wealthy, and I don't think she would ever borrow money from anyone. We live in a luxurious mansion, and she has so many cars. There must be a mix-up somewhere. Who brought me here? I need to see that maniac," Gina exclaimed, standing up and attempting to walk toward the guards at the prison gate. But the girl pulled her down and covered her mouth with her palm.
"Let go of me, you psycho! I was supposed to be somewhere else by now," Gina said, but was interrupted by another girl who had been watching them.
"You have to behave yourself and keep your mouth shut if you want to survive out here," the girl said in almost a whisper. Suddenly, they were all interrupted by noises coming from the hallway, and a group of men appeared. Fear filled the minds of the girls as some ran for cover, while others cried and prayed earnestly. The guards opened the prison, and one of the men, whom Gina recognized, stepped in. He was the same person who had come to her home earlier, claiming to be from Hawaii College. Gina grew even more confused as she stared at the frightened ladies, but amidst the trembling young girls, Gina stepped out and walked boldly toward the man.
"Sir, sir! I'm Gina, the girl you visited this morning. I don't understand what's going on here. Aren't we supposed to be at Hawaii College?" Gina asked, while the man smiled at her ignorance.
"You're welcome, Gina. We are in Hawaii College, and lectures will start any moment now," the man said with a cold voice, but Gina had a strange feeling that he was lying to her.
"You there! Come over here," the man said, pointing towards a young girl in her early twenties. The girl trembled in fear as she broke into tears.
"Please spare my sister. Take me instead," another girl cried out, holding the hand of the chosen girl.
"Don't worry about me, sister. I'll go. Take good care of Salome," the girl answered as she stood up and walked to the man in front of them.
"Don't worry, Sofia. You don't have to cry. You'll be joining your big sister sooner or later," the man said to the crying girl as he walked out of the prison with the chosen girl. Everything happened in a flash for Gina. She couldn't understand why all the girls started crying when they saw the group of men and where they were taking the chosen girl.
"What just happened here?" Gina asked the girl sitting beside her.
"Those men came to choose a slave who would serve the Alpha tonight," the girl answered with a sniffle.
"I don't really understand what that means, but where are they taking her?" Gina asked again.
"They're taking her to his lordship's chamber. His lordship's chamber is a place we all fear. It's our worst nightmare. Any girl who goes in there never returns. In his lordship's chamber, ladies lose their virginity in the cruelest way to the most ruthless person in the world," the girl said, bringing fear to Gina's mind.
"Who is his lordship, and what's his name?" Gina asked, already terrified.
"His lordship is nothing but a cold-hearted monster. He is so cruel and unforgiving. He kills within a second and doesn't tolerate disobedience. No offense is too small in his sight; all offenses are equal and punishable by death. The only woman in his life is Lady Tara, and rumor has it that she is not loved by his lordship because she couldn't bear him a male heir to the throne," the girl explained.
As the girls continued their conversation, a group of guards entered, carrying a naked lady with bloodstains on her thighs and disheveled hair. Gina recognized her as the girl who had been selected by the guards earlier. Gina turned around and noticed that the girls who had identified themselves as her sisters were already in tears. She felt sorry for them, but she was more concerned about her own well-being. It might be her turn tomorrow.
"They just lost their eldest sister. It's really unfortunate. Shalom used to be a pillar for her sisters, but it's so unfortunate that she had to go. From what I've heard, their story is the most pathetic. Their mom gave birth to all three of them just to use them as collateral. Their mom is currently one of the richest women in the USA, but she used her daughters as collateral and is living a luxurious life," the girl muttered in an extremely low voice.
"What's your name, and how did you get here?" Gina asked the girl.
"My name is Lisa, and I'm here because my dad used me as collateral. My stepmom fell ill, and my dad needed money for her surgery, so he borrowed $20,000 from his lordship and used me as collateral. But he failed to pay it back," Lisa explained with a shrug.
"I'm Gina. Although I'm yet to know why I'm here," Gina said. The two girls began talking about their past when they were interrupted by the sound of their cell flinging open. A guard walked in, accompanied by three other guards.
"Who's Gina?" the guards asked, sending cold shivers down Gina's spine. The entire place went silent immediately, with everyone darting their frightened gazes back and forth in search of the unlucky person called Gina.
"I repeat, who is Gina?" the guard asked again, but only silence greeted him.
"Okay, since she's not here, we'll just have to choose randomly," the guard said, but Lisa interrupted before they could start the selection process.
"Here she is! She's Gina. Please take her and spare our lives," Lisa said, pointing her index finger at Gina, who stood there dumbfounded.
"I'm so sorry, Gina, but I guess luck was not on your side. In Atlanta, no one can be trusted. Sometimes, we just have to betray each other to survive. In your next life, I hope we can still be friends and not have to betray each other to survive," Lisa said to her as the guards walked toward Gina and took her away. Gina followed obediently, unable to escape as the guards surrounded her. She knew her mom was up to something when she started acting strangely and pretending to like her the previous day. Gina's fear increased with every step they took. Was this really her end? Why would her mother use her as collateral, and what did she use the money for? At that moment, numerous unanswered questions ran through her mind. Finally, they arrived at a large door with a beautiful inscription that Gina couldn't understand.
"Get in now!" one of the guards ordered, and Gina hesitated for a while before gulping hard and opening the door.
A scream tore from Ralph's throat as Gina toppled over the edge. But before gravity claimed her, a strong grip clamped onto her wrist. Boris, eyes wide with shock, had lunged forward, snatching her back from the abyss. He dragged her back onto the rooftop, her heart hammering against her ribs; she couldn’t believe she just saw her life flash before her eyes in a second. Gina sat sprawled on the concrete, gasping for breath, the world tilting around her.Ralph’s face held a mixture of shock and relief as he stared at her for a while. Silence stretched for a lifetime, finally broken by Boris's gravelly voice. "Where's the staff?" he rasped, eyes narrowed at Gina. His grip on her wrist had loosened, but the question held her pinned where she sat. Gina, still panting for breath, looked up at him with a shaky smile. "I think I dropped it," she admitted, embarrassment creeping up her face. Before Boris could respond, a gruff voice cut through the stillness. Ralph, pushing past Boris with a
“He’s gone to get the staff from Boris; after this, he’ll leave for good,” Ivy announced, making Gina’s heart drop.“Where is he now? I need to find him,” Gina said as she got up immediately.“I’m not trying to stop you, but you can’t just go out there without a plan. It’s dangerous out there,” Ivy warned. Gina walked towards her and held her hands in hers.“Ivy, please tell me where he is. That is all I ask. I promise that I won’t try to stop him from leaving; I just want to have a last talk with him,” Gina pleaded, which was only a lie. There was no way she would let Ralph sacrifice himself just for her to live. Even though she didn’t have a plan yet, she was sure she would come up with an idea, whether smart or a dumb one. She was more focused on the end result, which was stopping him from leaving. She held Ivy’s hands, silently hoping that would be enough to convince her.“I don’t know, Gina. Ralph would be really mad at me if you get hurt,” Ivy said, trying to pull her hands out
“i’ll follow the rules. I will have to look for a way to get rid of you and take zayn with me,” Ralph said as he stared at her, as though waiting for her reaction.Gina stared at him for a while, her expression almost comical. Shock and disappointment were etched on her face as she did. “Uhmm… I see,” Gina finally let out, her shock still evident. Ralph stared on silently, his eyes pinned on her face. And then slowly, a small smile appeared on his lips.“I was only messing with you, silly. Don’t tell me you fell for that?” Ralph asked with a smile as he playfully pinched the tip of her nose. The playful pinch to her nose sent a spark of laughter dancing in Gina's eyes, dispelling the shock that had momentarily settled there. Relief flooded her in a warm wave, replacing the tensed look on her face.“Don’t ever make such a joke with me again; that wasn’t funny,” Gina said with a smile, playfully hitting his chest."Don’t tell me you actually believed that I’ll choose anything over you?"
As Gina paced around the room, her mind filled with worry and panic, Ralph, seated in a corner of the room, watched Gina pace with an understanding but pensive gaze. He could sense her worry and panic; the staff wasn’t some random object that someone like Boris could have in his possession. An object like that could destroy the entire world in a second with just a little effort."It's okay, I'll get the staff back, I promise," Ralph said, reaching out to gently hold her in place, his eyes reflecting a sincerity that only seemed to agitate Gina further."You say it's okay? Do you realize what's at stake here? That staff is not just some random object, Ralph! How could you even think of trading something that holds the safety of the entire world just to save one person!? Was it even worth it?" Gina said, almost yelling.Ralph held her gaze for a while, as though at a loss for words, but he answered, “You are not just ‘one person,’ Gina. You and Zayn are my only priorities. I’m going to
Back on the beach, Ralph's worry deepened as the minutes stretched into an eternity. After about 15 minutes of waiting without any trace of her, he decided to go to the female’s restroom in search of her even though he knew it wasn’t right. Upon entering the restroom, it was eerily quiet, the only sound was the distant crash of waves against the shore. Panic clutched at his chest as he scanned the vacant room, finding only her abandoned phone on the floor, its screen shattered. His heart pounded as he picked it up, a premonition of impending trouble settling over him. Confusion and fear intertwined as he stared at the broken screen, contemplating his next move. Before he could gather his thoughts, a new message flashed across the damaged display. Unknown Number: you really thought you could protect her, didn’t you? A chill ran down his spine as he read the text, trembling hands gripping her damaged phone tightly, anger welling up within him. Frustration boiled over, and he couldn't c
A surprised smile touched Gina's lips. It wasn't the question she had expected. She glanced at Ralph, a mix of shock and amusement as she stared. “So, where are we going” gina asked with a smile Ralph smiled, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. "you once mentioned that you wanted to go to a beach” Gina's eyes sparkled with surprise and delight. "A beach? That would be amazing." She said with a blush as she bites her lips in attempt to contain her smile. But he walked up to her, took her hands and pulled her into a warm embrace. “i want us to make the best of the little time we have together” he said stroking her hair gently while gina nodded with a tight smile even though he clearly couldn’t see her nod as her head was resting against his chest. The Next Day the sun hung lazily in the sky, casting a warm glow on the sandy shores of the beach. The rhythmic sounds of waves crashing against the shore created a soothing melody as Gina and Ralph strolled hand in hand along the water
