AVERY
My eyes widened in shock. "What?!" I exclaimed. "What? Did you think you would become a princess when you came here?" She shot back with sarcasm, but I remained silent, taken aback by her harsh words. "If that's what you are thinking, then snap out of it, and get into that bathroom. You only have five minutes." She ordered. I hesitated, biting my lip before taking the uniform from her before and heading into the bathroom. I went under the shower and turned on the faucet. I had a quick bath, after which I picked the uniform from where I kept it. Raising it up, my eyes widened at how short it was. I can't possibly were this. I shook my head, took a new towel, wrapped myself with it before going out of the bathroom. "Why are you not dressed yet?!" She demanded the moment she saw me. I felt a wave of fear wash over me as I stuttered out a reply. "I can't wear this. It's too short." "You can't wear it?" She let out a mocking chuckle, her expression darkening instantly. "Do you think you have a choice, huh? Put it on!!" I flinched, taking a step back. "Now!!!" she yelled again, and I quickly scurried back into the bathroom in fear. My tears were threatening to fall, but I held in it and began putting on the uniform. Is everyone in this place like this? So bitter and cold? How am I going to survive as a maid here? After much struggle, I finally managed to squeeze into the uniform, which totally made me feel disgusted. The gown was too short; it stopped at my mid thigh, exposing my laps. Not only was it short, it was also tight that I found it hard to breathe. "Aren't you done?!" Her angry voice came again. I quickly took one last look at myself before leaving the bathroom. "Better." She acknowledged with a nod before walking out of the room with me following her. We continued walking till we got to the kitchen and the maids there turned to us. "Gather around." She clapped her hands and they did as she instructed. "This is.." she trailed off and turned to me with a questioning gaze. "Avery." I filled in and she nodded before continuing. "Avery is joining you guys as a new maid, okay?" She said loudly. "Yes, Lady Margaret." They chorused. Oh. That's her name. She must be the head here, considering the way she acts. I frowned, but it vanished when she turned to me. "You would be the Alpha King's personal maid as from today onwards and..." "Why is she the Alpha's personal maid?" One of the maids cut in and I watched as the Court lady's face etched into a frown as she turned to her. "Are you questioning me?" "I am the Alpha's personal maid, so why would you give my post to her when she is still new?" The girl frowned. The court lady glared at her and turned to me without saying anything. "You would take coffee to the Alpha every morning by six and you are also in charge of his meals, but for the main time, do the dishes. Get it?" She asked, and I nodded. She turned away from me and, after one last look at the maids, she left the kitchen. The maids began dispersing leaving only the girl who spoke up earlier. She approached me and from the look on her face; she was angry so I decided to ignore her. I attempted to walk away, but she grabbed my hand. "Where do you think you are going?" She sneered. "The court lady asked me to do the dishes." I replied. "Hey." She poked my forehead with her finger, making me frown. "What are you doing?" I questioned. "What am I doing? Who do you think you are to come from nowhere and take my position as the Alpha's personal maid?!" She yelled, drawing the attention of the maids to us. I scoffed and shook my head. Is she seriously trying to fight with me because of that? She should be happy she won't be serving that haughty man again, but here she is, trying to fight with me. Do you think I'm happy that I am going to be serving him? I wanted to yell at her, but I didn't. Instead, I shot her a fierce glare. "Feisty, huh?" she smirked, taking a step closer to me. "Be careful, okay." With a final glare, she walked out of the kitchen. I released an exasperated sigh. My day isn't getting any better. "Hey." I heard someone say and I turned to see a girl who looks of the same age and height as me. "Hi." Mumbling, I watched as she came closer to me. "That's Mabel." She whispered, and my brows furrowed "She is a witch, not a real one though," she smiled and I chuckled while she continued. "Not only is she a witch, she is also obsessed with the position of the Alpha's personal maid." She said again and my mouth formed into an 'O' "I'm Mia, by the way." She winked before rushing out of the kitchen. A small formed on my lips as I began doing the dishes. My day dragged on, with endless tasks piled up on me. I couldn't help but notice that the other maids seemed to disdain me, intentionally loading me with extra work, which I had no choice but to complete. As evening fell, I found myself trudging alongside Mabel to the Alpha King's suite, tasked by Lady Margaret to serve him dinner. When we got to his suite, the guards let us in after announcing our presence. My eyes landed on the Alpha King, who was sitting gracefully on the couch, his eyes on his phone. "Alpha King." Mabel bowed, and I hastily followed suit. We took the food to the dining table before going back to him. "Your dinner is ready," I announced, and he lifted his gaze from his phone. His eyes shifted to Mabel "Leave." He ordered. Mabel's face flashed with surprise, and she shot me a resentful glance before exiting the suite. Alpha Jared turned to me, a smirk playing on his lips. "How was your day? Did you enjoy it?" He asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm. I remained silent, and he nodded, rising from the couch. "Strip." My eyes widened at his command. "I – " "Fucking shut it and get on the bed. Now!" He ordered. I bit my lip fearfully, casting my eyes downwards to the floor. I can't believe we are back to this."How is this?" I asked Mia while showing her a silver bodycon dress which stopped some inches after my knee. "It's perfect." Mia replied. I nodded and moved to take off my clothes. In the next few minutes, a welcome dinner for Jared and I will be held, but I had lounged around in just casual joggers and tank top, so I wanted to change outfits.Once I was done putting it on, I turned to Mia to help with the zipper. After which, I applied light makeup on my face."You look perfect." Mia complimented as we finished."Really?" Staring at our reflection in the mirror, the broad smile on her face complimented her words making me smile too.A knock sounded on the door and we exchanged glances."That must be Jared." I mumbled before getting up and making my way to the door. I pulled it open and like I guessed, it was Jared with a stunning smile on his face."Are you ready?" His question came and I didn't waste time before replying with a yes."Let's go then." He said and grabbed my hand.I
The next day, Jared and I got our things before heading to a field close to our apartment which will no longer be ours anymore. Everything was set except Sage - he was running late. Jared had called him some minutes ago but he only said he was on his way but it's way past 30 minutes."Ahh." I sighed out and leaned on the closest wall by my side. Jared, whose hands was tucked in his pocket turned to me."Should we just go without him?" He asked."Seriously?" I chuckled in disbelief at his question and shook my head. "Let's wait a little while.""Well, his tardiness is pissing me off." Jared uttered through gritted teeth.I sighed and lifted myself off the wall to go to him. I placed my hand on his chest and locked eyes with him. The breeding annoyance was visible in his eyes and I needed to calm that. With my foot stretched up to his height, I kissed him - a short one. As I pulled away, I could feel him calm down and a smile pulled to my lips at the result."Just hold on, okay?" I whis
It didn't take long before we got to the bar and I informed Grey about resigning. He seemed shocked but we wrapped up our discussion earlier and I went back to meet Jared. From there, we shopped for some groceries. I only got what I would need to prepare Brown rice with beef stir-fry today since we were leaving tomorrow. When we got back to the apartment, I made my way to the kitchen immediately, settling the things I bought before starting to prepare the food. I began by chopping the onions before grilling the beef.I was already halfway through this when I felt a hand around my waist. Nobody needed to tell me that it was Jared. Even is thick lavender scent is surely noticeable.A kiss on my neck made me stilled. I paused grilling and quickly pushed him off. His laughter filled my ears as I turned around to glare at him."Stop bothering me, okay?" I told him but he shook his head and moved closer. My back hit the counter as his arms wrapped around my waist, then he started leaning in
"Bye!" I bade Jared goodbye as I came out of his car.Jared expression turned sour. "Do you really have to go?""Yep." I nodded and raised the phone on my hand. Since my phone went missing, Jared got me a new one yesterday."You can call me here if you're worried." I told him and he nodded reluctantly. He suddenly leaned in and kissed my lips for a brief moment."See you, I will pick you up this afternoon." He said as he pulled away. I nodded and exited the car. I watched him drive away before heading to the cafe. After today, I won't come here anymore cause I had plans to resign. Same goes to my job at the bar.As I strode into the cafe, Sia who was by the counter looked up swiftly."You're here, huh?" "Yeah." I mumbled, goin to the dressing room. I changed into my uniform before coming out.Sia was no more by the counter, she was currently tidying the tables so I joined her.As I did, I couldn't stop myself from glancing at Sia frequently. I don't know how to bring Javier's issue u
The next time I opened my eyes, Jared was right in front of me... staring at me! "Why... are you staring?" I asked in a stutter."Nothing really, you just look pretty while sleeping." He whispered, a playful grin spreading across his face."Oh..." I trailed off and silence set in. Only the sound of our low breaths could be heard as we stared at each other.Minutes passed and Kyra's words replayed in my mind. I guess... she is right. The guy in front of me staring at me with pure affection and love really deserves another chance.I reached out to his face, caressing it softly. His brows creased slightly but I simply smiled and continued caressing his face."When do you want to leave?" I asked and his brows furrowed. "What do you mean?""Aren't we going to the pack any longer? When?" I aksed again and his eyes widened."But you said you were not going, so – ""I don't remember saying that?" I mumbled.Jared raised his brows but he shook his head. "It's fine if you don't want to. I just
AVERY "Urrgh" I let out a low groan as my eyes fluttered opened. My eyes landed on Jared who immediately jerked forward on his seat. "You're awake." "Hmm," I mumbled and my eyes drifted to my surroundings. My brows creased at the sight of drugs and the smell of drug. "Where am I?"I asked, my gaze going back to Jared who still had a pure look of concern. "The hospital." "Huh? Why – " the rest of the words got stuck in my mouth as I recalled what happened. My eyes dilated slightly and a look of disbelief clouded my face. "About Javier, it's not true, right?" A frown appeared on Jared's face. "Are you still going to trust him after what he did to you?" "No, it's not that." I shook my head slowly. "I just can't believe it. How is it possible that he is not human? That means approaching me was because he had something, he – " I choked on my words as tears slipped out of my eyes and Jared's hands wrapped around me in a warm embrace. I hugged him tighter as the tears continued. Javi
