The constant thumping of her heart deafened her to the uproar of applause resounding in the air. She held Elis’s hand a little tightly striving to squeeze some comfort out of it. Her eyes were scanning the plain floor of the stage looking for a single thread of courage to grasp on while propelling her legs forward. She wondered if his eyes were still glued to her. She could feel the heat of his gaze though. And then Elise’s urgent steps came to halt making her pause too. His shiny black shoes that appeared in her line of sight and his intoxicating scent told her that they were standing quite close. His shoes looked brand new and very expensive. She wondered if he was one of those rich people who doesn’t wear the same shoes twice. “Congratulations,” his deep voice prompted her to look up at him. The knot in her stomach relaxed a little on finding his attentioAshHer eyes bulged out of its socket in shock and alarm bells started ringing in her head. The breath knocked out of her lungs and her face paled at the sight of the man she had slapped a few hours ago. Daniel was the last person she was expecting to see at her doorstep. The shock and unfiltered fear rendered her speechless and her heart started beating at an inhumane speed. Her mind advised her to bang the door shut. But her body paralyzed with fear failed to comply with the command.A few moments of silence passed between them before a deep voice penetrated it. “Can I come in?” Daniel asked what seemed more like a command to let him in. Ashley was alone in the house. Considering what had happened a while ago, she didn’t feel it safe to allow him in the house. “w..ww..Why are you here?” she stuttered, trying her best to hide fear and anger in her tone. Her question prompted Daniel to slightly tilt his head
Rage roared through his veins. Anger had colored his face scarlet. His bloodshot eyes looked demonic enough to freeze someone to death. Chest heaving up and down with every drag of breath threatened to tear through the shirt. His ragged and loud breathing sounded more like a warning of destruction. The man of 6 “4” mirrored Devil ready to unleash his wrath on the world. What happened a minute ago had jolted something inside him. Something devilish. Something that should have been left untouched. While driving, his mind kept drifting away to the venom that Ashley had spewed at his face a few minutes ago. It’s a shame that despite having so many riches you lack basic manners. Did your mother teach you nothing? He tried not to lose his temper. He genuinely did. He kept his cool, even when she brought his mother into it. But the last thread of his control ripped apart when she dragged
A frown adorned Gabby’s face when his word traveled to her ears. “Michael?” she repeated his name confirming if she heard right. “No, he is not my lover. We just fuck sometimes. That’s it. The only thing he loves is money, ” she clarified with pleading eyes. Her statement piqued Daniel’s interest. He pressed it further. “Not even his wife?” he asked in a low pitch while tracing his finger across her shoulder. Lust began fogging her mind once again as she bit her lower lip and closed her eyes in utter bliss. Daniel knew the effect he was having on her and so was using it to gain some information. He waited impatiently for her to answer. “No. He doesn’t love her. His only love is money. He won’t even hesitate from selling his own wife for a bunch of cash,” she breathed out. Her nude body squirming under his touch. It would be a lie to say that her reply didn’t stun him. Michael is a gr
“This too shall pass,” her screen saver read every time her phone lit up. Isn’t it strange? Deriving motivation from an assemblage of words by a stranger. Words. If used carelessly, they can cut deeper than a knife and cause irrevocable damages. Wars have been waged, people have been maimed in history just because of some wrong words said at the wrong time. But on the flip side, these words are also capable of healing people. Breeding hope. Reinstating belief.Ashley knew the importance of words. Life had taught her a lot and this one happened to be one of her lessons. She knew what words she had to use in front of Michael to keep him from beating her. Can’t say, it helped every time. That is why she knew she had messed up big time with Daniel. Her words had an instant effect on him. His eyes reflected it all. The storm brewing inside him. At that moment, she feared no one more than the man standing before her. The air around him
All color drained her face as she watched him locking the door. “Wha...What are you doing?” she stuttered while motioning towards the lock. “Can’t you see? I am locking the door so that no one will disturb us,” he answered coolly before turning around. Daniel crossed his arms over his chest as his gaze ran over her body once again. His unexpected response had turned her white as a sheet. “What do you mean? Where is Michael?” she asked him nervously. Her eyes were darting between him and the door. He didn’t respond this time. His eyes were on her face. Daniel seemed to be lost in a trance.“Answer,” she shrieked, snapping him out of his trance. Tears pricked her eyes. Her heart missed a beat when his lips curled up in a sinister smile. Instead of answering her, he took predatory steps towards her. “You’ll find out very soon what I mean, princess,” his eyes darkened. “Don’t
Ashley averted her gaze to the door for a second. Before she could make a break for it, a callous hand came wrapped around her wrist.“Give it to me,” Daniel demanded while keeping her from moving.“Leave me,” she thrashed. In his forceful embrace. “Ashley, don’t be silly. Give it to me,” he made use of his alpha tone.“Leave me you bastard,” she screamed at the top of her lungs while thrashing violently. A deep cut torethrough Daniel’s forearm. He grunted but didn’t let go. After applying enough pressure on her wrist, the knife dropped down. However, the woman was far from giving up. She continued wiggling and yelling in his hold. It felt as if she was undergoing a panic attack. He tried to calm her down but Ashley seemed too lost to hear him.Frustratingly, he spun the shower on. Coldwater came pouring down on them, drenching every inch of their body. Dani
DanielHer eyes flipped at him with confusion but soon morphed into understanding. “I want the truth, Ashley,” he told her while clasping his hands together.Daniel saw her losing herself in introspection. Maybe, going over her feelings for him. Mentioning feelings and him in one sentence left a bitter taste in his mouth. The urge to rip Michael’s body limb by limb increased tenfold. His hands were itching to give him a taste of his own medicine. And he was going to do just that. After taking a few minutes, she finally shook her head in no. Without him knowing, Daniel’s lips curled up in a heartfelt smile. He felt as if a boulder had been lifted off his chest. He felt certain clouds of darkness scattering away. He felt relieved. Ashley looked scared but not unsure. Maybe this was the first time she had acknowledged her feelings.Daniel was sure though. It felt good. So fucking good. But right now was not the time to do a h
He didn’t ask Mrs. Fitzgerald for further details because he knew if he did he wouldn’t be able to control himself from killing Michael that instant. Daniel plopped on the couch while gesturing to her to do the same."Will she come out?" Daniel asked Mrs. Fitzgerald who appeared to be lost in her own thoughts. However, his voice managed to reach her ears as she replied promptly while nodding, “She will.”“Thank you for coming on such short notice. But if you want to leave you can. I’ll tell my driver to drive you back to your place,” Daniel offered politely.“Well, as much as I want to. I don’t think it would be a good idea to leave her like this,” Mrs. Fitzgerald protested.Daniel didn’t disapprove of her point. In fact, he felt relieved as he knew how much Ashley needed support at this moment. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a kind woman who had persuaded her to speak up and report her husband to the police.
