It was now five in the morning, and I returned to bed for the next two hours before getting up and preparing for school. Surprisingly, I felt energized this time, without any reluctance to leave my bed. My phone had died when Hayden tried calling, so I left it at home to charge. As I descended the stairs, I found my mother sitting on the couch. When she saw me, a smile spread across her face.

"Hey, Baby. When did you get in?" she asked, and I pursed my lips.

"This morning," I answered truthfully, not wanting to lie to her.

"Where were you?" she inquired, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"At Hayden's house," I cringed, expecting a negative reaction. However, silence followed.

"Eh, I don't mind. I trust him," she said, going back to her show, and my jaw dropped.

Aren't mothers supposed to shout and freak out when their teenage daughter stays at the house of the opposite gender? Then again, my mother didn't have much of a 'Motherhood' experience. I was just glad she was back home.
