Juliet Diaz: -
I was so excited about my brother’s arrival today, which is why I took a half day from work and returned home with flowers, some groceries to cook dinner, and a few helium balloons. I haven’t seen my brother for the past year which is why I was so excited to meet him today but as soon as I entered the apartment that I shared with my boyfriend I stopped dead in my tracks with tears in my eyes, when I saw him fucking none other than my best friend Monique.
They both were lying naked on my bed, with their moans echoing in the bedroom, the bedroom that I shared with my boyfriend Gabriel.
“What the hell is going on over here?!” I cried and yelled out in anger and a heartbroken voice.
“Oh my God, Juliet! What are you doing over here?” Gabriel pulled away from Monique in shock with his eyes opened wide as he stared at me while Monique sat there with a bitchy grin on her face, not even bothering to cover her nakedness.
“How could you? How could you do this to me, you lying, cheating, asshole?” I cried, hitting his chest with my fist “ I loved you. I loved you so much and this is what you give me in return? Why? Why did you do this to me? And, especially with my best friend?” I then turned my attention to my friend.
“And you? How could you do that? I never considered you as my best friend but my sister then how could you do this to me? Doesn’t our friendship matter to you at all?” I asked, and in response, she stayed silent, with that stupid grin still plastered on her face. Like she was feeling a little bit guilty or bad.
I was like in an utmost state of disbelief and shock, the following moments were a blur to me as if I was just a passer-by in the scene. The feelings that shook my mind within me were as anguishing as the next moment of my life. Such efforts to rationalize were in vain; there was no excuse for the betrayal of Gabriel.
“You know what? I can’t be here anymore. This is over.” I said, wiping my tears while trying to act strong “You and me, we are over. I am breaking up with you.” With that said I took off the pendant Gabriel gave me and threw it on his face in anger “You both can go to hell for all I care.” I spat and went running out of my apartment with tears streaming down my cheek.
Once I reached my car and settled on the driver’s seat, only then did I let myself break down and sob, clenching my heart that was aching badly from the heartbreak. Gabriel and I have been dating for the past three years, only to find out that he was cheating on me with none other than my best friend Monique.
I needed my brother right now because he has always been there for me whenever I needed him the most and right now I really needed him. I wiped my tears and placed my foot on the accelerator as I brought the engine to life. I was driving towards the airport to pick up my brother when my phone decided to ring, flashing my brother’s name on the screen which made me frown. Shouldn’t he be on the plane right now then how come he is calling me?
“Hey, Zach? How come you are calling from the plane? Is your flight landed already?” I asked, trying to keep my voice confident and strong but I knew I was failing miserably. Zacharias is a soldier who can detect everything in a heartbeat.
“Hey, little sis. Is everything alright? Were you crying?” he asked, his voice laced with worry.
“I am alright. It’s nothing.” I replied, “You didn’t answer my question.”
“I know I promised to be there for your birthday this year but please forgive me. I am so sorry, Juliet, but due to some emergency I have been appointed to this mission so I have to leave for the mission soon. Please forgive me. I really want to be there with you but I can’t.” Zach apologized, if my heart wasn’t broken already, it was more broken now because I was looking forward to meeting my brother, especially right now but I can’t worry about him when he is going on a mission.
“It’s alright, Zach. I understand and I am so glad and proud to know that our country comes first for you, like it should.” I tell him in an understanding tone “We will meet after you return, and it will only be possible if you stay out of danger and take care of yourself because I love you. After our parent's death, you are my only family, the family that I don’t want to lose.”
“I know, baby sister. I promise to come and meet you first thing after I return from this mission, alright?” he said and I hummed when he went silent and asked, “Are you sure that everything is alright, Juliet?”
“Yes, brother.” I answered “I am driving right now so I will call you later, okay? Goodbye!” I hung up in a hurry when the emotions were taking over me. I don’t know when I began to cry, causing my vision to go blurry I didn’t see the truck coming my way, and before I could process it, everything went dark in front of my eyes and felt unbearable pain burning all over my body like my spirit was leaving my body and this was my last day of the life.
“NOOOO!!!” I woke up screaming with tears of fear in my eyes, breathing heavily with my hand clenching something soft. I looked around the unfamiliar surroundings until my eyes landed on the most amazing, hot, sexy, and handsome man.
The same man who makes my heart race just with one single sight of him, the same man I have been crushing on since childhood, the same man I spent the most beautiful night of my life three years ago. The man is none other than Nicholas Carrington, my brother’s best friend and the forbidden love of my life.
“Relax, you are safe now. I am here. It’s alright.” Nicholas was by my side in a heartbeat, while trying to comfort me by taking my hand in his with a concerned look on his face.
“Nic…Nicholas? What am I doing over here? What happened to me?” I asked with a frown until I remembered that the dream I just saw wasn’t a dream but a memory “I…I was in an accident. I thought I died then how come I am here?” I murmured, with trembling lips.
Juliet Diaz:-“Just relax. Take a deep breath. You are safe now. I am here. Just take a deep breath and calm down.” Nicholas said, wrapping his arms around me carefully, making sure he didn’t hurt me anywhere. I don’t know why but I instantly calmed down in his arms as I imagined the night we spent together and the way his hug gave me warmth that night “You all right, now?”“Ye…Yeah, I think so.” I answered in a low painful voice as I hissed in pain, making him instantly pull away to examine me, with pure worry and concern evident on his face. The kind of concern and worry I didn’t see in Gabriel’s eyes for me ever.“I am sorry. I didn’t hurt you, right?” he asked, in a panicked tone “Does it hurt anywhere? How are you feeling now?”“It hurts pretty bad but I guess I am going to live.” I answered with a small smile “I guess you were the one who saved me, right?”“Well, I won’t take the full credit because it was the paramedics who brought you here on time.” He said scratching the back
Juliet Diaz:-“Yes, my place.” He answered, “I figured that you won’t be going back to live with your boyfriend at his place now that he has cheated on you, and since Zacharias is not here to look after you, you have only got me because I am not leaving you on your own when clearly you need someone to look after you.”“And, you think you could be that person, huh?” I snapped “You do know that just like Gabriel, you are the second last person I want to see, right, although I owe you for saving my life.”“And, she’s back.” I heard him mutter, earning a death glare from me, and watched him gulp.“What did you just say?” I asked with gritted teeth while he stood up from his chair and threw his hand in the air to surrender.“You want to talk about that night, don’t you?” he asked, pacing around in the room, running his fingers in his perfect dark hair, looking sexy as sin making my heart skip a beat. The truth is that the only person I have loved and crushed over unconditionally since chil
Juliet Diaz:-"Yes, he was definitely going to kiss me, Anica, and you know what? I would have let him as his lips are really kissable and can tell do wonders on any woman's body, except for yours, since you don't have got natural one but filled with God knows how much silicon valley." I snapped, rudely making Anica's body to tremble with anger."You bitch! He's mine and I won't let you snatch him away from me. He loves me and I love him. You are just a whore who is trying to come in between us." Anica shouted and I laughed while Nick gave me a death glare, and I rolled my eyes."Fine, do whatever you want with plastic barbie, but out of my hospital room since I don't want to see you both doing disgusting this." I snickered and watched Nick drag Anica out of the room while I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath and cursed at my messed up life. After a few minutes, Nick entered with a straight expression and spoke."Did you really have to do that?" he asked, his hands in the pocket
Juliet Diaz:-Two Weeks Later"And, where do you think you are going?" came Nick's voice the moment I began to step out of the house dressed up in my office attire, ready to go for work. Now that I have healed, it's time to take my life back in control. I need to go back to work and find a cheap apartment in order to move out of Nicholas's place. "To work," I answered, turning around to face the magnificent man dressed up in a button-down white shirt and dress pants, holding his white coat and briefcase in his hand."Please, Nick. Don't argue with me on this. I need to go and work, or I will be fired." I pleaded, "I am done resting, and I feel better. All thanks to you, but I really need to go. I can't stay at your place forever. I have to work and find a place of my own."For the last two weeks, Nicholas has been so kind and caring towards me, helped me out in any way possible, and as much as I hate to say this, we felt close. He didn't cross any line, as I knew he wouldn't due to m
Juliet Diaz:-"What?!" I asked, stunned as I heard him speak. "Ki...Kiss you?""Yes, Jules. Kiss me," he answers, caressing my cheek softly. He bent down to run his nose against the skin of my neck and inhaled my scent while I felt shivers running down my body. He raised my chin with his index finger, bringing his lips close to mine for a kiss when his pager decided to ring, informing him about an emergency. He groaned as he pulled back and cursed."Fuck!" He cussed, running and punching on the door beside me in anger. I flinched, and he instantly felt bad, and guilt overtook him. "Sorry...I am so sorry; I didn't mean to scare you.""It's...It's alright," I replied, barely audibly. "You should go. You are needed at the hospital.""Come on, I will drop you off at your office. It's going to be on my way to the hospital," he announced, carrying my stuff along with his. He dragged me with him, locking the door behind him. I will drop you off and come to pick you up myself, so you better c
Juliet Diaz:-After a lot of struggle and fighting, I managed to get inside the building and headed straight to the CEO's office, my boss's office. The moment I pushed his assistant and slammed the door open, what I saw made me gag and stop dead in my tracks."Oh my God! Your dick is tinier than my pinky finger." I insulted my boss, who was fucking my colleague's mouth with so much pride, as if he had got a monstrous dick or something."Really, Emma? I thought you had some standards, but then again, you are fucking him for promotion to get my position, and it looks like you succeeded by making him fire me for no reason. You knew that you didn't possess marvelous architectural skills but were good at being a whore, so you chose to do what you were good at. Didn't you?"Emma gagged, choking on her boss’s so-called pride and tearing herself away quickly, wiping her mouth. Her face was pale from embarrassment and shame; she looked horrified. My boss, Mr. Charles Whitmore, burned with ang
Juliet Diaz:-After crying and cursing about my life, Nicholas and I found ourselves lying on the couch watching movies with a pint of Ben & Jerry's, several other kinds of snacks, and the popcorn on his coffee table. I knew Nicholas hated romantic comedy movies, but for me, he was watching them with his arm wrapped around my shoulder and my head resting on his chest."How are you feeling now?" Nicholas asked, looking down at me, and I smiled."Much better. All thanks to you." I thanked him, "You made me feel better. It was just a lot of stuff came crashing down on me. I moved to New York to start my life and make something for myself, be with the man I love, and blah blah blah. Then, a few weeks back, I found my boyfriend was cheating on me; I got into an accident and almost died if it wasn't for you saving me, got homeless, and now jobless too.""It's alright, and like I said, everything is going to be alright, and until you find a new job and a place of your own, you are free to li
Nicholas Carrington:-The whole night, it seemed that I couldn’t sleep. Throughout the entire night, I barely stopped myself from thinking about her. About Juliet. What happened between us last night? Her lips were on my mouth. Her body melted into me as if she belonged there.Almost loss of control.I had sworn never to cross that line again. I learned my lesson three years ago and did not intend to repeat it. So I was in bed lying and playing back every second of last night. I rubbed a hand down my face, groaning. This was wrong. Juliet was Zacharias’ little sister.I had no business being in love with her and kissing her like that. And yet…I sat up, sighing frustratedly, and rubbed my temples. The only way to clear my head was to remind myself of who I was and to whom I owed my loyalties.Anica.I needed to see Anica. She was my fiancée, the woman I should be thinking of, not Juliet. With determination, I took my keys and went out of my penthouse. Even Juliet was sleeping in the g
Juliet Diaz:-We remained tightly entwined after Nicholas's heat left my skin. Our breathing remained heavy, and our hearts beat at the same rhythm. My hand created slow circles on his exposed chest, and the heat in his skin felt through my fingers.A husky tone colored his voice as he pressed a gentle kissing motion onto my lips. “Come on a date with me.”I stared at him with an expression full of astonishment. “A date?”He smirked. “Yes, Juliet. A proper date. I wish to cherish you through an unforgettable date while introducing you to everyone as my ultimate love.My cheeks turned pink, but I expressed my agreement with a friendly expression. “I’d love that.”He kissed me again with increasing depth just as his phone started vibrating on the nightstand. His hands reached for the device when a call was displayed on the screen of his phone, and his expression instantly changed. His exhaustion caused him to sit up while he muttered, "I have to take this call."His facial expression sh
Nicholas Carrington:-The early morning sun barely peeked through the windows as I felt the weight of her still in my arms. Juliet. Her breath warm against my chest, her body still enveloped in the love of my arm, she was curled into me. I hadn’t moved all night. Not when my muscles cramped. Not when I was exhausted. I didn’t care. She needed me. I had to be here for her, and I needed to be.The memory of last night would never settle out in my veins. Fury was still boiling under my skin, and I thought I wanted to track Jared down and finish what I started. But for now, Juliet was safe. She was in my arms, where she was supposed to be. Just as I was beginning to wake up, some sharp voice broke the peace.“What the hell is this?” I shot my eyes open, and my body became rigid. My parents stood over me in matching looks of disgust and fury. Anica was crying, pretending to be innocent, beside them. I tightened my grip around her, framed in my arms instinctively to keep her safe from whate
Juliet Diaz:-Jared was the perfect gentleman. At least, I said that to myself. But I should have been having a nice meal at an upscale five-star restaurant seated across from him, next to the candle-lit ambiance, the soft music, and him leaning in every time I spoke as if I were the most interesting person in the room. But my mind was elsewhere. On Nicholas. My thighs grabbed on his hands. His mouth is against my skin as he murmurs that I'm his.Jared was telling a story about a business deal. I clenched my hands in my lap, forcing a polite smile. I barely heard a word.He tilted his head, smiled smoothly, and asked: “Are you having fun?”“Yes, of course,” I lied.He moved his hand, grazing his fingers over my hand. “I’m glad. “I wanted tonight to be special,” I nodded, pulling my hand away slightly to raise my finger to grab my wine glass. “It’s been lovely.”He chuckled only slightly as his gaze darkened. “There I have to admit I was surprised you agreed to this date.” I would hav
Juliet Diaz:-In the bath I took my time, letting the warm water shoot my frustration out of my head, but regardless of whatever scented bubble or steam I spent, I heard the argument rolling through my head again and again.Nicholas’s words keep on going through my mind. She's like a sister to me.It stung through me, and the only thing that could shut him up was to do the one thing that would sure as hell piss him off. Accept Jared’s date invitation.Wrapping myself in a towel, I stepped out of the tub and padded to my dresser. Jared’s text to confirm the reservation buzzed from my phone. Just as I got a chance to read it before, a sharp knock on the door made me jump.“Juliet.” I stiffened.Nicholas.I continued to ignore him while going through my closet, but the door opened anyway, clicking. Spinning around, I tightened my grip on the towel around me, and only had time to see his dark and unreadable eyes shut the door behind him.“What the hell, Nicholas?” I hissed in a hushed voi
Juliet Diaz:-Before I could open my mouth and make an excuse, Nicholas interfered by announcing."Oh, you know how much your sister hates me but loves to always argue with me." Nicholas rolled his eyes as he spoke. "She is never going to grow up and stay a pain in the ass.""I don't argue, you do!" I spat in anger, glaring at him. Nicholas smirked and opened his mouth to say when Zacharias came in between and announced."Knock it off, both of you! Can you both get along for once in your life? I can't even imagine how you both will be living together for the past few months. I am surprised to see you both alive and in one piece." Zach spoke, chuckling and pulling me in for a brotherly hug as he kissed my forehead, "Now, let's go inside."The Penthouse door clicked shut behind us, and I kicked off my heels with a slight sigh. Zacharias shrugs off his jacket, puts it over the back of the couch, and walks in like he owns the place. He muttered, grabbing a glass, “This place hasn’t change
Juliet Diaz:-Jared approached my desk and handed me two cups of coffee; I had just finished organizing my files. He smiled and set one before me, saying, "For you."I went to look at it, then looked back at him. “What’s this for?”He replied, "You’ve been working nonstop. " This should help keep going. ” Picking it up, I hesitatingly did so. "Thanks, but you didn't need to."I stood from my desk, and Jared leaned against the edge of it, watching me as I took a sip.Since we finished the Harper project, we could go to a celebratory dinner. Just us.” I swallowed, lowering the cup.“Dinner?” He nodded. “No work talk. Just good food and conversation.”I paused, ready to respond with something, and then suddenly, a familiar presence opened my mouth. There was something unspoken in the air in the room, which shifted thick. My head turned, and I looked to see Nicholas at the entrance of my office. The icy, sharp eyes locked onto Jared were unreadable, but his expression was noncommittal.“
Juliet Diaz:-"Oh my God, Jules! What's all this mess, and what's with this burning smell?"Nicholas's worried voice came down the hallway as I tried to hide the evidence of the burnt chocolate cake I prepared for Nicholas out of jealousy when I found his female nurse feeding Nicholas her cake, and Nicholas liking and complimenting it, in a flirty tone so I wanted to show him that I could make a better one, and the only cake he is only allowed to eat is mine, but clearly the evidence is the proof that I suck at cooking and baking as not everyone can be a good cook like Nicholas.I picked up the burnt cake and tried to dump it into the trash yet Nicholas entered the kitchen before I completed the action. Nicholas gazed at the chaos in surprise with his sharp blue eyes as he saw the countertop covered with flour dust and cocoa powder spillage while burnt sugar left an intense scent in the air. I forced a nervous smile. "Surprise?" Nick raised his brow while crossing his arms. His wo
Juliet Diaz:-"Are you, Miss Diaz, the architect who worked for Charles Whitmore?" a businessman in a three-piece suit asked when I was sitting in the cafe, having a cup of coffee, and designing a house for my client as I worked as a freelancer in my spare time."Ummm, yes, and you are?" I asked as politely as I could, but I couldn't help raising my brow. And how do you know my name?""Hello, It's nice to meet you. I am Jared Osborne from Osborne Architecture Firm, and I have a job position for you, " the handsome-looking tall man announced.I put my coffee cup down, flattening out my fingers a touch around my pen, and looked at the man in front of me. His eyes were on mine, expecting some sort of response from me, and his expression seemed composed."A job position?" I repeated, tilting my head. "I'm afraid I don't follow. How do you know about me?"Slinging his hands into his pockets, Jared gave a little smile. "I caught your work on Whitmore’s latest project. Several people in the
Juliet Diaz:-Sunlight of pure gold warmed my body while I stood on the wooden villa deck, which offered an endless view of glistening turquoise ocean depths. The breeze played with the strands of my hair, salt and tropical flowers filling the air. This place was Paradise, a world far from the chaos of our past.Nick drew my body against his strong physique and placed his hands around my waist. “You’re daydreaming again, angel,” he murmured against my ear … his rough voice from embracing the waves. I smiled, leaning into him. “Can you blame me? This place is unreal.”His chuckle pierced as he pressed a lingering kiss on my shoulder. "An entire day filled with exploration awaits both of us. Let’s make it even better.”The jungle trek, which began in Ubud's verdant private lands, formed our first destination for the day. We walked down thick tropical forests with a local guide by our side, pointing the way, passing hidden waterfalls that sparkled in the sun's light. On another occas
