Sierra closed her eyes as she felt Axton's hand begin to move down, caressing her private area. Once again, she lost herself in the intense sensation that gripped her, making it impossible to pull away.
"Ah," she bit her lip tightly, struggling to keep any sounds from escaping. She hoped she had locked the bathroom door or that, at the very least, this place was soundproof so no noise would slip out of this room.
Her eyes remained shut as she felt water trickle down her face, following the path of Axton’s fingers as if drawing a trail on her chest. His lips were there, and Sierra really hoped he would end this game quickly, just as she wanted.
Sierra was entirely prepared when Axton lifted one of her legs and guided himself inside her. Her eyes stayed closed, but now her hands searched for something to hold on to as Axton moved in and out of her. He pushed hard, his hands gripping her waist tightly as if setting a rhythm for their movements.
Sierra felt as if she were going crazy. She tried hard to keep her hair from getting wet but failed when her head dropped to rest against Axton’s neck as he continued moving beneath her. Her body squirmed restlessly, and the water in the bathtub started to overflow, spilling onto the floor. The sound of splashing water made their movements seem even more intense.
Axton pushed deeper, harder, and stronger as if it were the only way he could breathe.
"Oh God," Sierra struggled to keep her mouth shut, but Axton's movements didn’t allow her to stay silent. She bit her own wrist to suppress the waves of release that began from her core and spread through her body.
Axton noticed, so he pushed deeper, allowing Sierra to savor the burning waves flooding her body. No, of course, they weren’t finished.
Sierra had entered the bathtub to help Axton find his release, and so far, he hadn’t done so. She opened her eyes and took a deep breath. She released her wrist, seeing the bite mark she’d left on her skin.
"Look at me, Sierra," Axton said in a deep baritone voice. She had heard that a man's voice sounded different at night, but she had never imagined she would hear Axton's voice like this in the middle of the night while they were making love in the bathtub.
"Look at me," he repeated. This time, she had no choice but to obey.
Obediently, she lifted her head, allowing Axton to gaze deeply into her eyes just as he thrust himself inside her forcefully.
"Ah!" Sierra cried out in surprise.
She quickly raised her arm and bit herself again, suppressing each moan that pushed its way to her lips from what Axton was doing to her body. There was nothing Sierra could think of now—not with the fact that Callie was asleep in the same room. The only thing she focused on was how she could keep feeling his touch deep inside her, driving her wild.
"Axton," Sierra looked at Axton with worry as he pulled her arm from her mouth. She could hear his growl, a sound he was holding back for the same reason she was.
"Don’t do it," he growled, moving his lips close to hers and kissing her hard, leaving Sierra no choice but to return his kiss with the same intensity.
Her breathing became labored as Axton’s hand touched her chest, but his movement left no chance for her to catch her breath. Every time Axton pulled back, he pushed hard enough to make Sierra jolt.
By the time Axton found his release, all Sierra could do was bite his lip to hold back her moans. Axton pushed to the limit Sierra could offer, and she could feel herself reaching another release.
That wave signaled the end of every wild motion Axton made in her body. He groaned into their kiss, and Sierra quickly felt something warm flood inside her—something she hoped would penetrate deep and fertilize her egg.
Her emotions were a tangled mess as she kept her eyes closed, resting her head against Axton’s chest. Something heavy settled in her heart again, returning the guilt rooted deep within.
It was always like this.
She would lose her mind when Axton started touching her, but the guilt would rush back to fill her heart as soon as it was over, even while she could still feel part of Axton inside her.
Sierra lifted her head and reached for the edge of the bathtub, but Axton’s hand held her waist, keeping her in place.
"Don’t move, Sierra. I know you’re not ready yet."
Sierra almost cried when he pulled her to sit against his chest. Their positions had changed, so Sierra was no longer facing him. She remained seated in Axton’s lap, but now her gaze was directed at the ceiling, watching the light from the bathroom. Part of her chest was sinking in the water, but the rest was clearly visible, and she began not to care about it.
She could feel Axton’s rapid heartbeat against her neck, but she tried not to say anything.
"I’m sorry for doing this."
Once again, he apologized as if he regretted everything between them.
Foolish. What did Sierra expect? That he would thank her for helping him come?
"I’m going back to my room after this," Sierra said with difficulty. "We should never do this again because I feel like I’m betraying my best friend."
For a moment, Sierra forgot that she was the one who came to Axton, not the other way around.
Yet, this feeling was genuinely unpleasant. Sierra tried to convince herself that she wasn’t betraying Callie, but what she did with her best friend’s husband was enough proof of her betrayal.
"I know." Axton nodded, exhaling deeply. "I feel guilty toward Callie too, but I can’t stop myself from all this."
Sierra didn’t know what to say.
Everything felt crazy in her head, and she couldn’t stop the madness.
"I’m sorry for all of this, Sierra."
Sierra closed her eyes. She had given everything—her body, her dignity, and in a few months, she would be giving up her child. What would be left for her then? Could money make up for all of this? She felt as if she had destroyed her own self-worth.
"Can we… not talk about this once we’re done?" She gripped her hands tightly, staring at the marks her teeth had left on her skin. "We just need to do this until I’m pregnant, and after that, it’s over. No apologies, no emotional ties. I want this to stay professional."
"Alright. Do you want to take a shower? I’ll give you some privacy if you need it."
Sierra nodded once she was sure her legs could hold her weight and her heartbeat had returned to normal. "Yes, please," she said.
Then Axton stood up, moving away from the bathtub and disappearing behind the transparent glass door. Sierra heard the sound of running water from the shower and deduced he was washing up.
She did everything she could to clean herself up and get out of there as quickly as possible. She was fortunate her clothes hadn’t gotten wet, though her hair was damp, which would likely be a bit of a nuisance.
To hell with it all.
Once she finished buttoning up her pajamas, she opened the bathroom door and walked through the corridor, connecting it to Callie’s walk-in closet. The bedroom lights were on, and Callie was lying on the bed, her eyes open, watching her.
Sierra froze. It felt as if a rock had dropped onto her head, shattering her entirely.
Seconds passed, and she could do nothing but stare into her best friend’s eyes.
She heard approaching footsteps. She knew whose they were, even though she didn’t look back. There was only one person left in the bathroom when she’d walked out a moment ago, and that person was now under Callie’s reddened gaze.
Sierra swore she wasn’t cheating or betraying her friend. She was doing this by their mutual agreement, yet she could hardly breathe when she saw the tears glistening in the corners of Callie’s eyes.
"Callie?" came a voice from behind Sierra.
Axton. It was Axton’s voice.
Damn it, Sierra had started recognizing that voice all too well, and she hated that fact.
"Callie, are you awake?" Axton stepped closer, leaving Sierra standing by the bathroom doorway. He approached Callie, touching her head as though he didn’t know what to do. He leaned down and kissed the top of her head, but Callie didn’t close her eyes as she usually did when her husband kissed her. Her gaze stayed locked on Sierra, and Sierra wished she could just run to her friend and embrace her, crying over the chaos between them.
Sierra bit her lower lip, desperately wishing she had the strength to step away from this place. The corners of her eyes could no longer hold back her tears—the guilt and regret filled her heart, making it hard to breathe.
She bowed her head, letting her tears fall, and took a step to distance herself from it all. She fought to reach the door and escape the room with what remained of her broken heart.
The truth that she was nothing more than a cheap woman echoed in her mind. Memories of all the times she’d been labeled a whore by others weighed down each step.
"Sierra?" Callie’s voice called out just as Sierra stopped in her tracks.
Her hand was already on the door handle, and she only needed to pull it open to leave. But she didn’t. Instead, she turned around and looked at Callie, who was looking back at her.
"Yes, Callie?"
Lately, Sierra had grown fond of gardening. She enjoyed planting flowers, and since she had a spacious backyard, she was free to do whatever she pleased there. After returning from their honeymoon across various countries, she had already planned a beautiful concept for her backyard. Her mother used to love gardening, even after coming home tired from work, though they didn’t have an adequate plot of land to do so. Now that Sierra had better opportunities than her mother ever had, she wanted to honor that hobby—bringing something her mother loved into her new home. When Sienna was with her grandmother, Sierra found herself with free time to indulge in something she enjoyed, keeping herself entertained so she wouldn't feel bored. Occasionally, she would step out to purchase gardening tools and thoroughly enjoyed those moments. In the past, she couldn’t afford this kind of relaxed lifestyle because she always had a demanding schedule. Since college, she’d been accustomed to working part
Axton made Sierra leave the United States for a honeymoon in Europe one month after their wedding. He didn’t tell her where they would go or how long they would be on vacation, leaving Sienna with her grandparents. He only said that he had everything planned but wanted it to be a surprise, so the only thing Sierra had to do was to look beautiful every morning and look forward to each surprise he would give. This morning, they woke up in Norway after spending the night watching the beautiful Aurora Borealis. It felt like a dream—a place so beautiful it seemed unreachable by humans. But Sierra was there with Axton, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Then, in the night, they traveled to Switzerland and stayed there for an unknown number of days, visiting places they would explore.“I can’t believe I’m unemployed and traveling the world with you,” she commented while standing near the window of the villa they were staying in.The view of nature there was so soothing to her eyes. Eve
Sierra and Axton had agreed to host a simple wedding celebration attended only by close family and friends. Most of the guests were Axton’s family and friends, as Sierra didn’t have either.Well, she had invited Andrea—if the woman could even be categorized as a friend. And Damian…Actually, Sierra wasn’t the one who invited Damian. It was Axton, which had completely surprised her.“To my daughter-in-law, Sierra Scott, I love you, pretty girl,” Axton’s mother said, blowing an air kiss and smiling warmly. Sierra laughed as she stood next to Axton. After all the formal wedding, it was time for speeches from the couple’s closest people. Sadly, Sierra had to remind herself once again that she had no parents or close friends to speak for her.“I always wished I could have met Sophia, Sierra’s mother because she raised such an incredible woman with all her strength,” Axton’s mother began. “Sierra is a passionate woman with a beautiful perspective on everything in the world. She loves everyo
Sierra stared at her reflection in the mirror, disbelief evident in her eyes.It was hard to accept that all of this was real. But of course, she wasn’t dreaming as she stood there in her wedding gown, her face adorned with flawless makeup. She was almost too afraid to touch her own skin, worried she might ruin the carefully applied look.“You look absolutely stunning,” Axton’s mother said, wiping tears from the corner of her eyes as she admired Sierra standing in front of the mirror. “You are the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.”Sierra smiled and turned her head slightly. “Don’t exaggerate, Mom,” she replied, taking a deep breath. “I feel unsure about walking out there. What if people judge me?”The woman immediately took her hand, looking at her with genuine warmth. “When Callie—the most important person in your life—gives her blessing for what you’re about to do, why should you care about what anyone else thinks?”Sierra had read the letter Callie had given her. She must have
“I’m here,” Sierra said softly.A week after receiving Callie’s letter and all the gifts the woman had sent her, Sierra finally decided to visit Callie.“I also stopped by the store you worked with, just to thank them,” Sierra said, taking a deep breath as she sat down on the damp ground of Callie’s grave, ignoring the possibility of her skirt getting dirty. “They were confused, looking for me at your old house. I don’t live there anymore, Callie. I moved after giving birth because Axton thought it would be better for us to find a new home. Staying there made it hard to move on, constantly reminded of you.”She glanced at Axton, who was walking toward her from a distance.Today, she wasn’t alone. Axton and Sienna had come with her. But when they arrived, Sienna wanted to breastfeed, so Sierra left them in the car. Axton could handle her to help her drink her milk, and it wasn’t an issue for him.“I’m sorry I didn’t realize how much you cared for me and Sienna. I thought you were angry
Sierra couldn’t blink, and it felt like time had stopped for a moment. Her body felt stiff, even though the only thing she desperately wanted to do was run away. What Damian had said entirely left her at a loss for words. If she were honest, those words moved her deeply, making her feel even guiltier toward him. That wasn’t what he should have said. Damian should have angrily cursed at them for causing a scene in front of his apartment in the morning. He should have... He could have said something harsh to her if he truly wanted to show how upset he was with everything. But instead of doing that, Damian chose to say something kind—words that should never have come from someone who had been wronged.Thankfully, Axton could read her mind well enough to step forward, grab her hand, and lead her away from there.“Let’s go home!” he said, walking briskly.Of course, Sierra followed Axton. She walked without turning her head because she didn’t want to see Damian again.“I never knew that Da
