His strong legs ran down the field, trying to keep the ball away from his opponent. The tension was high in the arena. This was the most important match of the season, and the game was tied. Twenty seconds were left in overtime.

I watched as he crossed the middle of the field, running right to the goal. Sweat dripped down the nape of his neck. He pushed his legs harder and harder and looked down at the ball for a split second.

In that moment, he made an impact with the ground, and his opponent stole the ball away from him, sprinting down the opposite side of the field.

He stood, running after him, anger evident in his blue eyes.

Five seconds left.

His opponent passed the ball to his teammate, and he kicked it at the soccer net. The goalie jumped at the ball, and it just grazed the tips of his fingers, but it went in anyway.
