I hugged my parents for the last time before following Dylan out of our house. My mom had been crying since Dylan arrived at our house this morning. She couldn't stop talking about how much she would miss having me around. My dad tried to console her but it only ended up getting worse. Dylan had packed my bags earlier, not that I have much to pack, just my suitcase and my duffle bag.

I waved at them before I got into the car and buckled up.

"Drive safely." My dad said for the one hundred and tenth time today.

"I will, Uncle max." Dylan said before starting the car and we started out in Toronto. As soon as we left our driveway, I started to miss my parents.

"I'm gonna miss them." I said quietly, staring at my palm.

"I'm gonna miss my family too but hey, we'll meet a lot of new people and it'll be fun." Dylan said with a lopsided smile.

I started to feel sleepy. I could barely sleep last night, I was just sneezing and shivering from the cold all through the night. Ahh, it was all thanks to that rude jerk from yesterday.

I sneezed again.

"You okay?" Dylan said when he noticed the tiredness in my eyes. He casted a worried glance at me before looking back at the road.

"No, I'm not. I met with this rude handsome guy at the ma-"

"So, you're not okay because of a guy??" Dylan cut me off.

"No, listen," I put my legs on the seat, making me earn a side glare from Dylan. He had told me several times to stop doing that. He said it was unladylike, but it is what it is.

"So, I met this guy yesterday, he is so fucking handsome but rude at the same time." I explained as I remembered his handsome face, but frowned when I remembered what he did.

"I still don't get why you're not okay, did you get beaten by the rain?" Dylan asked, confused.

"Yes, I got beaten by the rain because of that guy. We had a collision outside the mall and he said some really rude things to me. He said I was blind and that I have eyes but wasn't using them and that I irritate everyone around me." I said angrily.

"What! He really said that?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I hate this guy."

"Good, cause I hate him too." Though he's so hot.

I closed my eyes and yawned loudly, I could get some sleep before we arrived in Toronto. It's going to be a long drive. Dylan noticed I was falling asleep so, he reduced the volume of the song that was playing on the stereo.

--

"Woah, this is nice." I said as I inspected my room and the bathroom. My hostel is located a bit far from school premises. My roommate was yet to arrive. Dylan dropped my suitcase and my duffle bag on the floor, setting to leave for his own hostel which we had earlier been to.

My breathing spikes and my heart started to beat at an alarming rate. I was scared. Scared for college, what is to come, everything. Will my roommate like me? Will I like my roommate? What if we don't get along and we end up fighting each other every day?

What if I'm not able to cope in class and I lose my scholarship? What if...

A large palm settled on my shoulder, calming me down.

"Shea, relax. You'll be fine. My hostel is right around the corner, if you need me, I'll be here." Dylan said in a soothing voice.

"I'm just really nervous, what if I screw up and lose my scholarship?"

"Hey, you won't. You're smart, talented and intelligent, okay? Everything is going to be okay." He gave me a bear hug and that made me really calm down as he rubbed my shoulder gently.

Dylan was never nervous or scared of anything in his life. I'm always the scared one and he has always been there for me.

After I had eventually calmed down, Dylan went back to his own hostel, his roommate had arrived already.

"I can do this." I said to myself.

I placed my bag on the bare bed at the left side of the room. I cleaned the room and started to arrange my stuff. I put my books on the table in the middle of the room. When I was done, I looked around and smiled. I undressed and went to the bathroom for a hot shower. Just when I was done, I heard someone knock on the door.

That's probably my roommate.

I opened the door and it revealed a tall skinny brunette, she was eerily pretty with her perfect tanned skin, hazel eyes that twinkled as she stared down at me, her brown hair was packed in a neat bun making her high cheekbones more exposed.

"Hi, I'm Samantha Walker. We're roommates." She said with a pretty smile.

"Oh! Umm- hi, I'm Shea. Shea Collins." I replied with an awkward smile as I opened the door wider for her to come in. She walked in gently with her two suitcases as she observed the room. She dropped her suitcases at the right side of the room- which will be her side because I had picked the other side.

She walked back to me and offered me a handshake with a wide smile.

"Nice to meet you Shea, I hope we get along."

"I hope so too." I said as I shook her hands firmly.

"Great, and oh! By the way, you can just call me Sam, for short. I'm a freshman, what about you?"

"Freshman too." I was really awkward at making conversations with new people, probably why I don't have a lot of friends. Just Dylan and a few back at highschool.

Sam seems like a friendly person, now I don't have to worry about us getting along or not. She's the type that obviously gets along with anybody.

She started to unpack her things while I just sat at my corner staring at my phone. I had replied to all the messages from my parents so I decided to watch a movie.

After unpacking and arranging her things, Sam started to put posters of movies and celebrities on her side of the wall. I guess she's a fan of K-pop, cause she added a poster of a popular Korean boyband- BTS. My sister was always crazy about them before she got married. Jimin was her favorite and she had almost all his pictures on her phone.

"Shea, I heard there's gonna be a party tonight." Sam said as she put her books on the table and sat on the chair in front, facing me.

"What party is that? I don't know anything about it." I said as I removed my earpiece.

"It's for freshmen, I think."

"Okay." I said dryly. Every party I've been to in highschool was a disaster, I've always gotten into one trouble or the other.

Whenever Dylan's friends who were on the basketball team threw parties, Dylan always invited me, sometimes I go and sometimes I don't go.

I get wasted easily, another side of me shows up and starts doing embarrassing things I would never do when I'm sober. There was a time Dylan invited me to a party, with just 2 shots of tequila I was wasted. I threw up all over his shirt and in my mom's favorite cooking pot, I was grounded because of that.

There was another time I got wasted and posted some nasty pictures on my i***a. Luckily for me, Dylan noticed it before it went viral and deleted.

"I think we should go together." Sam said, she stood up from the chair and sat on my bed.

"I'm not going. I have to rest."

"But tomorrow is Sunday, there's plenty of time to rest before classes start on Monday."

"Come on, Shea. it's going to be fun, and we'll have some bonding time together, as roommates." She whined and pouted her lips . She was already holding my hands.

Roommate bonding at a party. Sounds fun to me.

"Okay, I'll go with you." I finally agreed.

"Yes!!" She squealed and got up from my bed, she undressed and started to walk to the bathroom, but she turned around to look at me.

"Oh! And I heard some hot guys on campus are gonna be there." She giggled and went into the bathroom for a shower.

I hope I don't regret agreeing to go to this party.

--

Sam and I were standing in front of the club as people were going in and out of the place. She had lent me a short black gown with a slit at both sides while she wore a simple blue gown.

"Woah, you look even prettier." Sam said as she stared at me, the light from the club reflected on the both of us.

I don't always agree with people when they say I'm pretty cause I don't think I am. But I smiled at Sam.

I had texted Dylan and asked him if he'll come for the party but he said he wasn't sure yet. Sam and I were waiting outside the club for him.

Me: Are you still coming??

I texted him again, getting impatient, my legs are starting to ache in this heels.

Dylan: Sorry, doing some things with my roommate, see ya tomorrow.

He texted back almost immediately.

"Let's go, he won't be able to make it." I told Sam and we headed inside.

The inside was hot, dimly lit, filled up with sweaty people dancing and brushed up against each other. The music was loud and almost deafening. I quickly held onto Sam's hand so I wouldn't lose her.

She said something as she turned to face me but I couldn't hear anything.

"What??" I shouted over the music.

"I said, let's go and get some drinks." She said loudly so I would be able to hear her.

I nodded my head and she pulled me to the bar that was less crowded. We had a shot of vodka each before Sam pulled me to the dance floor.

She moved her head close to my ear and shouted, "Come on, dance."

I moved closer to her and shouted, "I don't know how to."

"Just move with the beat."

I started to shake my body and dance to the beat, a wide smile appeared on my face as Sam cheered me on.

But, my smile dropped when I looked at a corner behind Sam and a pair of eyes were watching me. His green eyes looked darker due to the dimly lit room. I gasped, it was the handsome rude guy.

"Oh! My gosh it's him." What is he doing here? Is he a freshman too? He was surrounded by a group of guys, they noticed he wasn't listening to what they were saying, they all looked in the direction he was looking at and soon, they were all staring at me. "What did you say?" Sam thought I was talking to her. "Nothing." I said and shook my head. They were still staring at me and talking amongst themselves. I turned around and grind myself against Sam. Oh! The alcohol was starting to kick in. I flipped my hair from side to side as Sam twerked and danced wildly. A guy appeared in front of Sam and started to dance with her and I was left to dance alone. Someone tapped me on my shoulder and when I turned to look. It was him, he was standing right in front of me. "Hey, remember me?" He asked loudly, I could hear him clearly, he was standing close to me, too close. He was invading my personal bubble. ""Who are you?" I asked, pretending not to remember him. "Your asswipe, silly." He h

Time went by really fast and soon it was Monday. I had woken up early because I wanted to visit the school library before going to class. As I was about to leave, Sam woke up, she yawned and stretched her body."Hey, good morning roomie." She muttered sleepily."Morning, Sam" I said as I put the last book in my bag. Sam stood up and went off to the bathroom,I waited so I could inform her that I was leaving. A few minutes later, she came back to the room with a charcoal face mask on her face"You're leaving for school so early? Classes don't start until eight o'clock. It's only a few minutes to seven." "I know, I just want to check out the library before going to class." I told her."Can I have your phone?" She asked before gently grabbing the phone from me."What's your password?" I stared at her, what was she going to do with my phone?"Your password! Or do you have secrets, bad things and porn on your phone?" "No!" I defended myself, I would never ever have that on my phone."

"Yes, we are still open." Seth said as he suddenly appeared beside me by the counter. He gave me a look that said, 'Are you not gonna answer them?' I thought I'd be starting officially tomorrow, and also as a baker not a barista."What would you like to order?" I asked Ryker who stood in front of me with a tight smile."We'll take anything you have." He said as he looked at the cakes on display. "Your order will be ready in a bit." I repeated what Lucy said to me this afternoon. They all went to the far end of the cafe to have their seats. I have zero experience in being a barista, so Seth helped me to prepare a slice of cake and juice for each of them. I took the orders down to their tables and served them. Ryker's eyes were on me the whole time, I ignored him and went back to sit behind the counter. I have to wait until they pay before I leave now that Seth has gone back to his office.I had a sour expression on my face as I watched them talk loudly amongst themselves. Anyone wh

I woke up with a slight headache the next morning, I knew it was due to the stress I went through yesterday. I took some pain relief and went to the bathroom to shower. Sam was awake by the time I went back to the room, she was applying a white face mask to her face.I greeted her and started to dress up as Sam also went to the bathroom to shower, I guess she was going to class this morning."Shea!! Can you pass me my towel?" Sam called out from the bathroom, why would she go in there without her towel?Anyways, I took the towel from her bed and passed it to her in the bathroom. Soon, she came out of the bathroom, her hair dripping wet. She took another towel and dried her hair."So, about your best friend." Sam started as she wore a cropped sweatshirt and a black jeans. "What's his name again?" She asked as she plugged in the hair straightener."It's Dylan, and I thought you would have forgotten about him." I said as I sat on my bed and watched her straighten her long brown hair.I s

Ryker's POVI watched as she walked out of the cafe with that guy. Is he her boyfriend? He better not be.I said a thank you to the guy behind the counter and walked out of the cafe, I got on my bike, put on my helmet and rode back to my apartment. As I opened the door, Bruno- my doberman- jumped at me and licked me in the face."Hey boy." I said to him as I rubbed his head and brushed my hand through his black fur.I've always loved dogs since I was a kid, I bought Bruno when I was in my senior year in highschool.I entered my apartment and dropped the sandwich into Bruno's plate, he rushed towards it and devoured it in no time. I plopped down on the sofa near me, popped the soda open and took a long chug from the can.I didn't go to Macy's because I was hungry or needed something to eat. I went there to see Shea but she barely gave me any attention because of that boyfriend of hers.I needed to do anything to get close to her because of that bet.I took out my phone and decided to te

I can't believe he forgot that we were supposed to meet up, he was really annoying the hell outta me.I waited for the rain to stop before going back to my hostel. Sam had gone to her sister's place and won't be returning until the weekend so I was alone in the room.I was really bored because I had nothing to do, so I decided to check through Ryker's phone too. An eye for an eye.True to his words most of his photos were nudes, even Grace's nudes were there.I knew this guy was a bad boy. There were barely any decent photos on his phone except for the pictures of a dog, it was a really cute dog. I guess he's a dog lover.I left his gallery and checked his playlists, it was filled with sad and emotional songs. I sighed as I decided to play Candy crush for the next one hour before going for my classes.--It was a few minutes to eight o'clock and Ryker still wasn't here yet. I was starting to get pissed off as I sat beside Lucy, who was already getting ready to go home since there were

Beads of sweat trickled down from my neck and to my chest as I folded the apron and placed it on the cabinet. Even though the weather was a little chilly, I was sweating like a distressed monkey. All the muscles in my body ached and every movement I made was agony. My head still hurts so bad and I've been sneezing all day. I was going to get sick.It was a miracle that I was able to go to classes and also complete my shift without fainting.I gently walked out of the kitchen and stood beside Lucy."You look terrible, girl." Lucy said as she observed my appearance. She walked towards me, placed her palm on my head and gasped."You're burning up, Shea. You should go home. Call your boyfriend to come pick you up." I didn't have the strength to tell her that Dylan wasn't my boyfriend right now."Is something going on here?" Seth asked as he made his way towards us. When his eyes landed on me, his brows knitted into a frown."Shea, are you alright? You look kinda pale." He asked as he obse

"Grumps, hey grumps." I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, I opened my eyes and saw two people standing in front of me, one was short and the other was tall. How did they get into my room?"Grumps, are you awake? It's me. I'm back" Ryker said as he gently sat on the bed."I know it's you, nobody else calls me grumps." I said to him weakly as I sat up and rested my back on my pillow."Is your head good? Do you feel a bit better?" I nodded at him and looked at the lady that stood beside my bed, she had been watching me all along. "Grumps, this is my sister, Doris. She's a doctor, she's going to examine you." Ryker stood and pointed at the short lady, she was just about my height, and she was very beautiful too. She had short blonde hair just like Ryker but the color of her eyes were different from Ryker's own, they were a mixture of blue and gray. It was so beautiful.I guess beauty runs in their family."Hi, Shea. How are you feeling?" Doris said with a smile as she sat with me on the

I closed the door quietly so I wouldn't wake Sam, who was still sleeping inside. I made my way down the stairs and sighted the cab that I had ordered. It's been twelve days since Dylan and I had that talk and I had been seriously thinking about it because I didn't want to regret my actions. With Ryker's connection and all, Cassie got arrested. Olivia and Jasmine too, since they were accomplices. I was called to the station to give a statement of what happened. I didn't want to go at first but Sam and Dylan convinced me to go.Jasmine and Olivia had been released on bail but Cassie's case was more deeper than that. I knew her parents wouldn't allow her to go to prison. "Where are you taking me?" I asked when he guided me through the dance floor and started walking towards the entrance of the clubhouse. My vision was still blurry and I was still drunk."Somewhere I can talk to you." He answered. "But I don't wanna talk to you, remember?" I told him "I'm not going with you, Sam is still inside." I tried to free myself from his grip."She can go home by herself. I'm not letting you go until I talk to you." "And you think I'm just gonna follow you and listen to whatever you wanna say. I'm not Bruno. I don't wanna listen to anything you have to say. You are just going to lie to me again." I said. The clubhouse was crowded as usual, loud music, sweaty bodies and people making out in dark corners. Sam and I made our way through the crowd and found a spot to sit in front of the bar, drinks weren’t free today. I guess someone paid for all the drinks the last time we came here. I had a shot of tequila but Sam didn’t drink anything, she said she was going to watch over me so I could drink as much as I liked.“Hey, let’s dance.” I told her as I pulled her to the dance floor, the alcohol was starting to kick in. I swung my body to the beat while Sam did the same.“Shea?” I heard someone call my name, I looked back and saw that it was Felix. Why the heck did he call me? Did Ryker send him to beg me?“Hey.” I said nonchalantly and continued to dance.“Look, Ryker didn’t mean what he did, he already called off the bet when he realized how he feels about you.” He shouted over the music.“Do you mind? I don’t wanna talk about that.” I said as I rolled my eyes at him.“Back off!” Sam said a

As I stepped into the bathtub filled with warm water, I sat down and let the water soothe my skin, I closed my eyes so I could relax but then it suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe, like something was blocking my nose, like I was drowning. The memory of myself, struggling in the pool flashed through my mind. It was traumatizing.I opened my eyes and gasped for breath. I got down from the bathtub. I couldn't do it. Cassie had scarred me for life, I would never be able to have baths again, or even learn how to swim.I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around myself and walked out of the bathroom. I went straight to my closet and grabbed a shirt and shorts to wear."Shea, you didn't stay long in the bathroom this time." I heard Sam say. I turned to her and saw that she looked excited. She was excited that I didn't stay long and cry in the bathroom this time. If she knew what happened to me there, she wouldn't smile like that. But I smiled at her and covered my fears up. "Yeah." “Holy shit! I can’t believe it.” Sam exclaimed as sat on my bed and rubbed my back. I had told her everything I encountered in school today and she regretted telling me to go out with Ryker.“I was just a bet, a stupid bet.” I sniffed. I wanted to cry but the tears wouldn’t come out no matter how hard I squeezed my eyes. I guessed I had emptied my tear sac. I was tired, physically, emotionally and mentally tired.“And- and Jasmine, I don’t blame you for hating her. She was just a snitch for her psycho sister.” I said in a low voice.“I never liked that bitch. I knew there was something shady going on around her. And we should throw those people in jail.” Sam said as she rose from the bed and stood in front of me. I liked how she was taking this more seriously than I was.“I’ve actually thought about that on the way here. Ryker’s POVShit!I had been screwed by Cassie. She told Shea about the bet before I had the chance to tell her myself. I never wanted to hurt Shea. I just wanted to give her more time to heal from what she was going through. I had plans to take her out on another date, to tell her how much I loved and cherished her and then eventually tell her about the bet. But Cassie ruined everything.I ran out of the pool area to go after Shea, but she was already getting into a car. I knew it was Laurel’s car.I didn’t know what to do.
