She had called out the team for lunch and some were still finishing things up. Some probably were shy enough to dine with their big boss. She went to the bathroom with her kit and went directly to the cubicle. She threw up unexpectedly as she felt dizzy. She sat on the clean floor and reached her chest.
She exhaled as she stayed for a while and she finally flushed the toilet and cleaned the toilet seat. She went to the sink and washed her mouth and face. She wiped her face clean as she rummaged through it and put a moisturizer on. Once she’s settled, she heads to her chair and puts her purse in her bag.
“Hannah,” Reid called. “Everyone is waiting.”
“Oh, sorry.” She said as she went with Reid to the conference room. They seemed to be all having fun.
“Hannah, I got you a seat,” Rose called as she approached her and they all settled down.
Somehow, she could feel RJ’s gaze at her as they thanked their boss for the treat.
“Let’s have a meeting this afternoon, Hannah can you set up for our meeting? There’s no need for fancy presentations.”
“Yes, sir.” She said as RJ creased his brows. Puzzled as to why she didn't eat much. But anyway, she enjoyed her food and the drinks. Hannah cleaned up the table with Rose after Fabian helped them a bit when he somehow received another call.
The others just let them and didn’t help out.
“Hannah, you seemed to be very, very pale. How are you?” Rose asked. Rose knew exactly what happened to her and how she was rejected. She’s a wolf but has never shifted.
And some of the alpha wolf types in their team were taking advantage of her kindness. But then, finally, she cut them off to do their job except for her boss Fabian since she’s a support for him.
“I’m doing fine.” She smiled.
“Our boss looked so~~fine.”
“Fine? How fine?” She asked.
“He’s so handsome, tall. Is he an Alpha of some kind of Empire or pack? Somehow, wolves per pack don’t seem to gather so much. Right?”
Right. She remembered that she already left her pack. She always wanted to leave and just be a lone wolf. She still had contact with her family but it was rare to ever speak to them. None of them know that she’s been rejected because she’s ugly.
The pang of pain was still on her chest and she could survive. She just wished that she didn’t and just died so the pain would end.
“They all went to the smoking area,” Rose said as she sighed. “We still have time, do you want to walk out and just check on a few things?”
“No. I don’t feel well.” She smiled and the housekeeper came to clean up and throw the trash.
She went directly to the clinic but the nurse wasn’t there. She felt very dizzy but she entered and signed her name. The nurse entered shortly.
“Miss Hannah, are you alright?” Nurse Alice asked
“I feel a little dizzy. Can I just lay down for a bit?”
“You look pale.” The nurse handed her a blanket as she lay down. She then checked her blood pressure and her temperature.
The pain continued as she shut her eyes hard. The door opens again.
“Can I lay down for a bit, Nurse?”
A familiar voice asked as the nurse closed the curtains and she went to another bed to assist the man.
“How are you feeling, sir?”
“Worst.” He mumbled. “I just need to lay down a bit.”
“Alright, sir. Should I take your blood pressure as well?”
“There’s no need for that.”
Nurse Alice approached her and checked on her.
“How are you feeling, Miss Hannah? Your blood pressure is very low.”
“Hmm, I didn't sleep last night.”
“Hannah, are you there?” It’s RJ.
“Boss, why are you here as well? It’s not food poison, right?” She teased.
“Nah,” Reid chuckled. “Nurse, if ever we slept well, can you not tell our boss?”
The nurse laughed.
“Sir, I can write a note to your boss.”
“Our boss is Fabian,” Reid said as Hannah chuckled.
“He’s just jesting. He’s our big boss.” Hannah said as Nurse Alice laughed along with them.
“It seems that both of you are fine.” Nurse Alice said. “Doctor is currently out. But just tell me both what you are feeling and I can message the doctor.”
“I don’t need anything but it seems that Hannah feels worse,” Reid said as she turned to her side and into a fetal position. She clutched her chest.
“Okay, let me call the doctor.” Nurse Alice said as she left the clinic. She could hear that little crack on the bed and RJ entered. She was puzzled as he closed the curtain and squatted down to level with her.
“I will ask my doctor or probably a witch to keep you from feeling the break of the bond.” He caressed her hair and somehow, something in those gray eyes made her calm. She doesn't have a wolf and his kindness was nothing but just a help.
She nodded her head.
“RJ, why are you in this company? Was it a coincidence?”
“I don’t have a choice but to undergo training.” He said as he caressed her hair. “Should we move the meeting to tomorrow?”
“No~~I”
“Don’t worry. I’ll help you…” He pulled the blanket over her. “Meeting will be at three. I’ll tell Fabian so they will have time for it. For now, you can stay here.”
She was puzzled as to why he was getting close to her and caring for her.
“Why are you nice to me?” She asked.
“Why not? Both of us were hurt by them. We should help each other.”
“I don’t care about them…” She mumbled. “I just want to never feel anything. That’s all.”
“That’s not good at all. Being numb, Hannah.” he stood and patted her head. He pulled out his phone and dialed someone. “The drug isn’t working. Get us something that would work.” He said as he glanced at her. “Get it here as soon as possible.” He hung up. “I’ll go back there and I’ll see you later?”
“RJ,” She called.
“What was that?” She asked. “Why do you even bother?”
“Hannah, we need to get our revenge as well.” he lowered his head. “I’m your friend and I’ll protect you. Just sleep.” He said with that sexy voice.
Staring at his handsome features, chiseled face with that fine slender nose. His eyes were in the shape of almonds… or was it killer eyes that they said? His thick brows make him more masculine. Someone that she’ll never have. A man, so kind, so fine and so handsome and tall. Her mate rejected her with a disappointed look.
RJ? He doesn't want anything from her. He just probably approached her for a little revenge. She won’t fall for anyone and she would gladly have a little revenge. She doesn't want to be the second choice of someone who was rejected by his first choice.
“Don’t pat me, okay?” She said and turned back from him.
“Sorry,”
The meeting went well. Somehow, the new drug that the doctor gave had made her feel better. The pain is gone and she had presented all of the reports perfectly. “Okay, for the upcoming convention in Westeros, Fabian and Hannah… also Rose, will go with me. It's a one-week convention and I think the rest will handle the tasks. Team leaders take charge.” Reid said as he finalized everything.“And I need an assistant to visit the following events at another branch.” He said and checked out. “Hannah can handle it, Reid,” Fabian suggested. “Rose can cover up?” Fabian asked Rose who nodded. Hannah has never been on any business trip and she wasn’t Reid’s assistant. She’s Fabian’s analyst in his area but why her? “Great, you can handle the flights and hotel arrangements. You can speak with Karol about that as well.” Reid said and his phone rang. “Excuse me.” he picked it up and left the room. “Sir, it’s not that I am complaining but, it should be Sir Reid’s assistant to assist him, right?
Days working with Reid weren't that easy at all. There are a lot of things to do and she has to go in and out of his office until Reid finally tells someone to place a table in his office. This is after two weeks of being trained as his analyst. Her position went up that quickly her contract was new and the pay was great. She also had her company phone and she won’t be just going to use a desktop but with a laptop for travel.Somehow, the drug seemed to work and she’s more focused on her work and the following events. She also coordinated with other department analysts to prepare for a lot of marketing events. Some were already making proposals and she reviewed it. Mostly, she learned from her boss Fabian. “Hannah, we’ve been sitting all day.” “Do you want me to fetch refreshment? I would gladly walk and enjoy the humidity outside.” Reid laughed as he nodded. He stood as he got his wallet. “Don’t bother, go get your wallet. I got the company credit card.” She raised it. “Sure,”
“My cats…” She mumbled. “Don’t worry about your cats. Just give me your house Key and I’ll have someone clean it up.” She tried to get up from the hospital bed but he pushed her down. “Oh, my best friend.” She mumbled. “My best friend was there. But she expected me to have dinner with her.” He sighed and looked at their family doctor. Doctor Markus. “She just needs some rest. Also, I think she needs to use contact lenses from now on.” He checked her eyeglasses. “And the drug works, but for now, you need to get enough nutrition. More protein for your body.” “I don’t need much of it. I’m not a shifter.” “It doesn’t matter if you are a shifter or not. But would you consent to check on your blood so I could give you the right medicine?” She nodded and extended her arm. Reid was staying on the corner. He was pissed that she had thought of something else other than her health. Once the doctor was down, he approached her and lowered his head. “Now, now. I should cancel the trip tom
She brushed her hair and put some cream on her face. She also makes sure that she’s presentable enough to face his boss. She rolled her eyes as she sighed, reaching her chest where her heart was located. She just hoped that half of her soul was fine. She needs to be fine to earn money since she’s a slave of money. She went back to the kitchen and watched as her boss was calling someone. Then, the doorbell rang. “Someone’s at the door at this hour?” She asked. “We are both hungry.” He said as he went to the door to open it. He let a man in with paper bags and other things. “Hannah, this is Chef Gordon.” “You ordered a chef?” She asked with a frown. “Oh, a pleasure to meet you, Chef Gordon. I am so sorry that you have to come all the way here~~” “No worries. I love cooking and I make the best soups.” He winked as RJ squinted his eyes at Gordon. She smiled and approached RJ as she stood next to him, feeling so small as she looked up.“I don’t understand why you should bother.” She mu
Reid loves watching her enjoy the food that Gordon cooked. She didn’t say much but after, she wanted to tell him a lot of things about Gordon’s cooking. She’s utterly speechless mostly but she had pointed out everything that Gordon used. Even the small ingredient that would make it taste good. Garlic or onions. She could taste it all. “Alright, I'll call someone to clean it up.” “Hey, don’t bother.” She stood. “I will clean it up.” “But you were just sick two hours ago.” “Boss, I have hands and I can stand. I can walk. It means that I can clean it all.” “Fine.” He sighed. “I have to go to a meeting.” “Sure.” She nodded. “Also, you can go downstairs to shop for clothes.” “But I don’t need~~” “Just go. You need proper clothes for special events. I already asked them to assist you. Also, it’s paid by the company.” He said and patted her arm as he left quickly. It wasn’t paid by the company. He lied again. But it was only white lies. He already had them charged on his account. H
She chose clothes to wear. Something formal with a longer skirt. A formal dress would be fine now. She then cleared up a few schedules as she took the bag for her laptop. Now, how is she going to carry all of these downstairs? A knock on the door interrupted her as she quickly went to the door and opened it. “Hello, Miss. A cart for your luggage is here.” She peeked outside to see a few pieces of luggage over it.“Were some of them Mr. Jaxon’s clothes?” “Yes, everything is here.” She nodded and helped the man with the luggage but he insisted on putting it. “Anything else?” She checked everything and shook her head. “That’s all, thank you.” She checked the time as they needed to be there in an hour. She got ready quickly and put her laundry in the basket. Then, she took her bag which contained the gadgets and charger. She went down to the lobby and checked the tablet as she scribbled with the pen on it, waiting for her boss. She checked a few documents and replied to the emai
Three hours of sleeping was enough for her. She stretched her arms and legs as she removed her eye mask and earplugs. She rubbed her eyes and looked around to see that others were sleeping or watching a movie. She peeked at her boss whowas sleeping peacefully. She looked away as she didn't want to stare at his handsome face for long and got caught. Or else, she might fall. She can’t fall in love with anyone. Not to her colleague. Not to her boss. She slipped off and went to the toilet. The attendant stood to assist her but she smiled as she just entered. Weird. Then, as soon as she got out, the attendant handed her wet wipes as she thanked her. “You must be hungry. We have almost everything. Anything you like?” She thought for a while. “Hmm,” she shook her head. “Not for now. But I’ll be fine.” She smiled at her as the attendant nodded. “Please call us if you need anything.” “Okay. Thank you.” She headed back to her seat and realized that there were familiar faces in the first
“We have the HR Director in the business class. Do you want me to call her?” She punched him in the stomach. But he didn’t even bulge. He hugged her tightly. “You are killing me.” She smacked him. Graham sighed. “This is inappropriate, Reid.” She was so embarrassed now as Reid teased her further. “Just go inside the toilet,” Reid said and was pushing Graham. So, they are indeed brothers? She realized that now as she looked up at him, her chin pressed under his chest. She was that small around him. He grinned and twirled her around and gently pushed her forward. “Now, back to your nests.” “That was embarrassing.” She hissed at him. “It’s nothing. I should report you to the HR Director.” He said nonchalantly.“Hey, that’s unfair.” He laughed as he sat down and their drinks were served. Shortly, Graham came with champagne in his hand. “Okay, guys. This is advice for both of you.” He squeezed himself next to Reid since there was still space for two people. “Just get married so t
