Asher pov

She stood there, shocked at my words. She began to write on her notepad: "I thought you were having it under control? You were trying to make her jealous as we went for that dinner, now that you know she's after your throne, you're standing here in regret."

I shook my head in disappointment, not knowing what to say to her, as I read what she wrote: "What I am angry about is that I allowed you to deceive me, to follow you to that dinner."

I felt a pang of guilt as I read her words. I had deceived her, used her as a pawn in my game to make Sophia jealous. And now, I was facing the consequences.

"Aurora, I..." I started to speak, but she held up her hand, stopping me.

You used me, she wrote, her words piercing my heart. You used me to get back at Sophia, without considering my feelings or well-being.

I looked down, ashamed. I had been so blinded by my desire to hurt Sophia that I hadn't thought about the impact my actions would have on Aurora.

"I'm sorry," I said, my voice bare

Asher povAs I looked at my cell phone's screen, this time it was Johnson. "Where are you?" it read. I heaved a sigh of relief and dialed Johnson's number."Hello, bro, I am being followed by an SUV," I said to him, checking around and behind if the vehicle was still behind."What do you mean you're being followed?" he said over the phone, firm but inculpating. "Actually, where are you now?""Don't worry bro, I lost them, I'm okay now," I replied, trying to start my car which wasn't starting."Dude, just tell me where you are," Johnson told me, his voice laced with concern. "It is not safe out there. I will also bring some guys with me along the way.""As I said, I am fine. but it seems like my car is not attempting to start," I explained, as I opened the bonnet of the vehicle."You see what I am saying?" Johnson said. "I am on my way." He dropped the call.I was out on the street, utterly bewildered but aware. I am the alpha; there is nothing to be scared of. Whoever it was, I would

Asher povThe tension was high, as Johnson stepped forward, flashing his angry eyes. "Sophia, back off," he snarled. "This does not concern you in the least."Sophia laughed then, cold and mirthless. "Oh, but it does have to do with me," she returned, her tone full of venom. "You see, I have been just waiting for that one perfect moment to strike, and now, when I know Asher's secret, I will be at an advantage.I growled, flashing my teeth, and Sophia retreated a step backward, her eyes aglow with excitement."Johnson, tell me," she said, the malice in her tone dripping. "What is Asher's secret? What is he keeping from the rest of us?"Johnson's eyes locked on mine, warning staring back at me. Shut up. Yet there was something in the glitter of Sophia's eyes, and I knew she was not about to back off."I don't know what you're talking about, Sophia," Johnson said, his voice even but guarded.Sophia smiled a little more, her face closing in on Johnson's. "Liar, Johnson," she croaked low,

Asher povI got into the car, my mind still racing with thoughts of Sophia and what she might be planning. Johnson got in beside me, his eyes scanning the surrounding area as if searching for any sign of Sophia. As we drove, I couldn't shake the feeling that Sophia was just getting started. She had a plan, and I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good for me or Aurora. When we arrived at the pack house, I could see that the elders were already gathered in the meeting room. Johnson and I exchanged a look, and then we headed inside to join them.As we entered the room, I could see that the atmosphere was tense. The elders were all seated around the table, their faces grave with concern."Asher, Johnson, thank you for coming," one of the elders said, his voice serious. "We have a situation on our hands. Sophia has been to see us, and she has made some...allegations."I felt a surge of anger at the mention of Sophia's name, but I forced myself to remain calm. "What kind of allegations?"

Asher povKnowledge that it had been my mother who'd done that to the SUV rolled through me in angry waves. "You had no right to do that," I growled; my voice came out low, threatening.Even though her face was even, there was a glimmer of something akin to defensiveness in her eyes. "I was trying to protect you, Asher," she told me. "You're going to be future alpha, and I won't let anyone touch that.I stepped forward, my eyes ablaze with anger. "You had no right to interfere in my life like that," I repeated. "And you certainly had no right to put Aurora in danger."Sophia's eyes slitted as she glanced interchangeably between me and my mother. "Aurora?" she spat. "You're still defending her? After everything I've told you?My eyes cold, I turned to Sophia. "You have told me nothing but lies and half-truths, Sophia," I said. "And I am not buying it."My mother's voice cut in, firm. "Asher, that's enough. You will respect Sophia and the child she carries."These words from my mom brou

Asher pov As I walked through the dark night of the lonely road, I thought back at the piece of paper I wrote and gave to Asher. But truly, this wasn't my fight. And above all, why would I allow myself to be used by Asher? Following Asher to the dinner, after all, what he had done to me, was totally a bad idea. I have to go back to my city. Staying in this city will only bring me more past, worse experiences.I continued walking, as there weren't any cars passing. It was just the sound of my footsteps. After some distance, my phone buzzed. It was my personal bodyguard. "Where are you, ma? Are you safe?"I stopped to look at the signpost closer to me to know where I was. As I copied the address, I replied back to the text to my guard."Find a safe place and wait for me, I would be there soon," he texted back.Oh, poor guard. After I received the message from Asher to come see him, I told him not to follow me. He might be very worried.I stood at a close bus station for what looks like

Aurora pov The next morning, my happiness was short-lived by a call my PA received in front of me. "Good morning, am I on with Miss Aurora?" the voice from the other end of the phone said."Good morning. yes, you are," my PA replied with an expression showing that she had much on her mind. "She wouldn't be able to tell you because of her. muteness.""We, the board, held a meeting in our discussion of issues while Miss Aurora was away," he said, clearing his voice."What matters did the board discuss?" my PA asked, looking at me in confusion.I sat on my bed, staring at her as she stood in front of me, putting the phone on loudspeaker."The board has discussed what is best for her company," he said firmly on the phone. "However well we know she built her company from scratch, we are the board, and we want to continue the development."So, what are you driving at?" my PA asked as I nodded in agreement to her question, both of us getting curious."What I mean is that we want the company

Aurora pov There was a pause at the other end of thr phone, then he took a deep breath "I just received a call from one of the board members, saying they have a suitable opportunity for your company to develop higher than ever, so congratulations, you would be relocating to that city," he said, his voice joyous on the other end of the phone."Relocate...what does that mean?" I thought to myself, standing there in shock. I would be relocating to Asher's city?I felt like I had been punched in the gut again. Relocate? To Asher's city? No, no, no. This couldn't be happening. My PA looked at me with concern, seeing the shock and horror on my face. "Ma'am, I think we need to clarify what the alpha means by 'relocate'," she said, trying to stall for time. But the alpha continued, oblivious to my reaction. "Yes, the board member told me that it's a great opportunity for your company to expand and grow. You'll be working closely with Asher's company, and I'm sure you'll do great things toget

Asher povIt was raining. I was standing in front of the window, at the window, looking outside, as my heart shuddered to every boom of the rainstorms. I was standing with the twins. I was looking away from outside, at something, to looking at them, and their eyes were distorted in fear. They were afraid of the rain. I breathed as I moved towards them."Hello, children, don't fear. I am here with you," I whispered, stooping down to their level."We want our mummy," responded one of the twins, his voice shaking and pathetic."Don't fear, you will meet your mummy soon, and we will stay together," I said, trying to smile."We don't know you, sir. We want our mummy!" both of them shrieked at the same time."Shut up you two, okay? You're driving me crazy here," I shouted back, banging my head. But shouting didn't appear to be doing any good, for they persisted, but louder. Their din, combined with the anger of the thunderstorm, was tightening the whole atmosphere in the room.Suddenly, and

Aurora povAll my efforts to threaten Asher, to see if he was the one who kidnapped my twins, had been in vain. My patience was fading away, and I needed to find a way to get them back. With each passing day without my twins, my frustration grew.As I dwelled in my misery, my phone rang. I was surprised to hear the voice on the other end. "Hello, Aurora. It's been a while," he said, his voice loud and clear."Yes, it has," my guard replied, coughing after speaking. "Aurora, I heard what happened to you. I know it's been hard for you these past few days," the alpha said, his voice low and sympathetic."Thank you," my guard said, reading the words I wrote on my notepad. "I'm sorry I didn't inform you. I had a lot on my mind.""I understand," the alpha replied. "Who would blame you? I was paid a visit by Alpha Asher. He was the one who told me about the kidnapping of your twins. That was the main reason he came here.""Asher was in your city?" my guard asked, sounding surprised. "And he

Asher povI decided to close the paper, not wanting to know what was on it. I stormed out of the house, driving out as if I was like a thief. We went straight to where I hide my twins, and with every turn I made, I looked at my rearview mirror on my car to check if I was being followed. As I drove, my heart was racing with anticipation and fear. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched, and the thought of being followed sent a chill down my spine. I glanced at my rearview mirror again, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Still, I couldn't relax, my senses on high alert as I navigated the winding roads. Finally, I arrived at the safe house, a nondescript building nestled in a secluded area. I breathed a sigh of relief as I pulled into the driveway, feeling a sense of security wash over me.I turned off the engine and sat for a moment, collecting my thoughts. I had been hiding my twins here for days now, and it was starting to feel like a permanent solution. But I knew it

Asher povI spent the rest of the day with Sofia, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay. But the guilt was eating away at me, making it harder and harder to keep up the act.As the sun began to set, I knew I had to get out of there before I cracked under the pressure. I made an excuse about needing to check on some pack business, and Sofia nodded understandingly."I'll be fine," she said. "I'm just going to rest for a bit."I nodded and smiled, feeling like a traitor. As I left the guard's quarters, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking further and further down a path from which I might never return.I made my way back to my own quarters, my mind racing with thoughts of Sofia, the baby, and Aurora. I knew I had to come up with a plan to deal with Aurora once and for all, but I was running out of time.As I entered my quarters, I was greeted by the sound of my phone buzzing. I picked it up, hoping for a distraction from my thoughts. But my heart sank as I saw t

I couldn't let Aurora get to me, and I couldn't let Sofia's pregnancy complicate things further.I decided to focus on one thing at a time. First, I had to make sure Sofia was safe and healthy until she gave birth. Then, I could deal with Aurora and figure out what to do about the twins.I felt a sense of determination wash over me. Asher pov I waited for a few moments, my senses on high alert, but there was no further noise. I let out a slow breath and relaxed slightly, thinking that maybe I had just imagined it.But then, I heard it again. This time, it was louder and closer. It sounded like footsteps, crunching through the underbrush outside the cabin.I motioned to my pack members to get into position, and we all moved quietly to the windows and doors, ready to defend ourselves if necessary. The footsteps got closer and closer, and then, suddenly, a figure appeared at the window. It was a woman, and she looked frantic."Alpha Asher," she whispered urgently. "I need to talk to you."I recognized the woman as one of Aurora's office personnel, and my instincts told me to be cautious. But there was something in her eyes that made me trust her, at least for the moment.I nodded, and motioned for her to come inside. She slipped in quietly, and I could see that she was shaking with fear."What is it?" I asked her,

Asher povMy mother nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I understand, Asher. I'm so sorry for what I did. I promise to never interfere in your life again."I looked at her, searching for any sign of deception. But all I saw was genuine remorse."I want you to leave the pack, Mother," I said, my voice firm. "I want you to go somewhere and reflect on your actions. Maybe then you'll understand why what you did was so wrong."My mother nodded again, this time with a hint of sadness. "I'll go, Asher. I'll leave the pack and give you the space you need."I watched as she turned and walked away, feeling a mix of emotions. I was relieved that the truth was finally out, but I was also sad that my mother had sunk so low.As I stood there, holding my twins close, I knew that I had to move forward. I had to focus on rebuilding my relationship with my children and making sure they were safe and know me.I looked down at my twins, who were looking up at me with big, curious eyes. "Let's go home

I was trying to protect our family's reputation.""By kidnapping innocent children?" I asked, my voice rising in anger. My mother took a step forward, her hands clasped together. "I know it was wrong, but I didn't know what else to do. Sofia is getting suspicious, and I knew it was only a matter of time before she found out about your children with Aurora."I shook my head, feeling a wave of disgust wash over me. "You should have trusted me to handle it, Mother. You should have trusted me to protect my own family."My mother's eyes filled with tears, and she fell to her knees. "I'm sorry, Asher. I'm so sorry. I was blinded by my own fears and doubts."I stood there, looking at my mother, feeling a mix of emotions: anger, disappointment, and sadness.
