Aurora pov

The next morning, my happiness was short-lived by a call my PA received in front of me. "Good morning, am I on with Miss Aurora?" the voice from the other end of the phone said.

"Good morning. yes, you are," my PA replied with an expression showing that she had much on her mind. "She wouldn't be able to tell you because of her. muteness."

"We, the board, held a meeting in our discussion of issues while Miss Aurora was away," he said, clearing his voice.

"What matters did the board discuss?" my PA asked, looking at me in confusion.

I sat on my bed, staring at her as she stood in front of me, putting the phone on loudspeaker.

"The board has discussed what is best for her company," he said firmly on the phone. "However well we know she built her company from scratch, we are the board, and we want to continue the development.

"So, what are you driving at?" my PA asked as I nodded in agreement to her question, both of us getting curious.

"What I mean is that we want the company to collaborate with a bigger company," he said, "based on the fact that we are considered one of the best fashion designing companies."

He was growing confident, and I could tell where this was leading.

"What bigger company do the directors have in mind, then?" my PA asked as I nodded, finding it a valid question.

"Asher's company," he said.

My eyes did a bulge.

It felt like the wind had been knocked out of me. Asher's company? Him, of all people, who could hurt and nag me in this life? The thought barely stayed in my brain.

My PA stared at me in alarm as shock and horror was writ large across my face. "I think we need to talk more about that," she attempted to procrastinate.

The voice from the other side of the line just would not stop, heedless to my response: "Yes, Asher's company is one of the largest and most prosperous companies within this field. We strongly feel that a cooperation between both companies would be serving us better."

One more minute of this and I just couldn't bear to listen. I shook my head to clear the cobwebs in my brain. How was this even something that was within consideration by the board? Hadn't they already picked up on what he had done to me?

My PA sensed my agitation and wrapped up the call, "We will need to review and discuss and call you back". And the line went dead.

The minute the call ended, I let out a loud exhalation. Was this some sick joke? Asher's company? That was my worst nightmare.

I felt like someone had kicked me in the gut. Asher's company? Him of all people, who had been such a constant source of pain and stress in my life? This couldn't be happening.

My PA looked at me with concern; my face reflected the shock and horror that I felt. "I think we need to discuss this further," she said, hoping to buy some time.

But, quite callously, the voice refused to stop; it was insensitive to the reaction on this end. "Yes, Asher's company is one of the biggest and most successful in the industry. We believe a collaboration between both our companies will be beneficial for both parties."

I shook my head, trying to clear the fog. How could the board even suggest such a thing? Didn't they know what Asher had done to me?

My PA must have sensed my distress, because she promptly wrapped up the call. "We'll need to discuss this further and get back to you," she said, before hanging up the phone.

The moment my pa looked at me strangely, I blew out deeply. It was just as if every word got repeated in my head, what had I just heard? Asher's company-what a nightmare.

I turned toward my PA and found her staring at me, a shade paler than when I started getting agitated. "Am confused, what am I going to do, ma,?" She asked her aloud, my gut rising with every passing second in alarm.

She took a deep breath and sat down beside me and added. "We shall sort this out together, but first, let's get one thing straight-we are not going to let Asher's company take over yours. You built this company with your own sweat and blood; it's your right to retain control of it.

I nodded, and the fire rose inside of me. My PA was right; I couldn't let Asher's company take over mine. I was going to fight for what was mine.

My PA continued to write down the information from the meeting.

"Yes, ma'am, indeed the meeting happened, and from what I gathered, Asher's company is a done deal," my PA said, staring at her computer with an overgrowing smile.

Quickly, I rushed to her to see the screen of the computer, halting my bothered self.

"Madam, it's not something that you would bother yourself about," my PA turned to look at me and waited for me to write down on my notepad what reply to send on.

I stood there, worried and confused. Of all the companies in this world, Asher's was supposed to be meant for me? How could that be? And at such a wrong time when I was almost succeeding in getting over Asher, moving on with my life.

Just then, in the depth of my thoughts, my shrill and loud phone rang in that silence. It was the Alpha, the Alpha of the city I was residing in, and he had given me space ever since that day-he had poured out his feelings to me which I had left him hanging.

My PA picked up the call, putting it on loudspeaker.

"Hello, Aurora, you came back, and you didn't care to check up on me," he said, as my PA waited for me to write a reply for her to say.

"I apologize for that, I have been busy, I would create time to come see you," my PA said, reading what I wrote on my notepad.
