Heidi covered her mouth, almost losing her footing.

Before Isla could swallow the handful of pills, Lucas grabbed her hand, making her let go of them. “Are you crazy?” He towered above the girl drowning in her tears on the floor. “Don't you know this is harmful?”

Isla looked at him. Her skin was deadly pale and her eyes looked as if she hadn't slept for many nights.

She looked more fragile and weak than the last time Heidi had seen her.

“You! Lucas Harrison, what are you doing here?” She choked on her tears. “Why don't you just let me die?”

Lucas frowned. He glanced toward Heidi. “She's out of her mind.”

Of course, Isla might be intoxicated or she might have already swallowed some of the drugs.

Breaking out of her shock, Heidi sat in front of her, holding her shoulders. “What's wrong, Isla? Why are you doing this to yourself?”

“Ms. Olsen, why are you also here?” Isla cried. “Can you guys please leave me alone so I can die without any trouble?”

“This is serious.” Lucas folded her ha

… At The Hospital. Heidi couldn't help the guilt inside her heart. She sat on the chair beside Isla who was deeply asleep on the bed. “I need to tell her…” She looked at Lucas. “It might only worsen the situation,” Lucas responded. “You'd better keep quiet about it.” How? How could Heidi remain quiet, letting the guilt eat at her heart? But Lucas was right. Telling Isla might only worsen matters. Isla might not only hate Lucas but also her. Standing from the chair, Heidi sat on the couch beside Lucas. “How about we tell Killian about it?” Lucas looked deep in thought. “What if he doesn't care? Won't the truth hurt?” “Killian should have been honest with her. He shouldn't use her and just toss her aside.” “You know the reason why Killian is marrying your cousin. Besides, he might not be in love with your assistant.” Heidi's gloomy eyes traveled to the bed. Lucas's words did nothing to ease her guilt. No matter what, she felt accountable. Poor Isla. It probably was onl

…Three days later…Yes. It had been three days ever since Lucas left. He hadn't left for this long before. The Villa had become a dungeon to Heidi, a doorless one where there were only dark walls. Because she couldn't find her phone, she'd lost the source of communication with the outside world. She could neither communicate with Lucas nor Amanda. How did she lose her phone?Well, It was the most bizarre experience Heidi had ever had.She just woke up the next morning and her phone went missing. They turned the whole Villa down but found no traces of the phone. Ever since Isla left yesterday, assuring her that she would be fine, Heidi's loneliness increased. She stood outside the building, beside the pillar by the large doors, staring at the gates. “It's getting cold, Madam.” Mira came out with a shawl. “This will help keep you warm. By the way, I prepared a hot chocolate. It'll soon lose its warmth if you don't drink it.”Standing outside was useless. It wouldn't make Lucas su

A tempting offer?Heidi didn't know which answer to give first. The obvious one, or the fact that she was confused and wary as well. “Do you doubt my child belongs to Lucas?” A protective hand went to her bump, cuddling it. The Old Man narrowed his eyes. “Well, he accused my granddaughter of sleeping with another man.”“That is Tracy's problem with Lucas.”“Hey, Little Girl, will you answer my question?” His smile disappeared. “I am only asking politely because I happen to know your grandfather who has been nice to me once.”“Why do you want me to trade my position for Tracy, Mr. Carlson?” Heidi tilted her head sideways, furrowing her brows. “And why do you want to know if my child belongs to Lucas or not?”“It will do you good if you don't ask any questions.” He chuckled. “Heidi, just agree to my request. Don't you want to know the offer I have in store?”Heidi was curious to know, despite having an inkling that it wouldn't be something she would easily agree to. “What's your offe

…At GreyHills City. Freya strolled down the long hallway behind the middle-aged couple, pushing the man's wheelchair, and walking past some prison cells.“This place is so scary,” Said Steve's mother. “I can't believe they're keeping our boy here.”Steve's father grumbled some words under his breath. “I know this is a set-up by his enemies…” His mother sighed. “Steve is an honest businessman, but the enemies won't leave him alone.”The policeman who was leading the way finally stopped in front of a door. A small room with a single bed. It seemed to be the only room with one occupant.“You can't enter,” the Policeman instructed. “Five minutes.”And then he left. Steve's father glanced at his wristwatch. “What a bunch of hypocrites. They wouldn't even let us see him in the waiting room.”“They now consider him a high-profile criminal. People are horrible, aren't they?”“What are you doing here?” Steve came forward, gripping the metal bars, his eyes flaming as they fell on Freya. “M

…At Phoenix City…Heidi found herself standing by the pillar stone again, her gaze fixed on the large gates. As the evening approached rapidly, so did her anxiousness increased. Not because she was afraid something bad might happen to her, or because Skyler Carlson had literally threatened her before he left, but because there were so many questions in her mind.If what the Old Man said was true and Lucas happened to drown once not twice… Did that mean…“Madam, you'll catch a cold. It will affect the baby.” Mira's voice interrupted Heidi's thoughts. “Won't you come inside, Madam?”Heidi rubbed her forehead, hoping the rapid drumming of her heart would stop.“We both know the Young Master might not return today also. Please stop stressing yourself out, Madam. You've been standing here for more than an hour.”Heidi dropped her hands. Right. Lucas might not even return. The man had literally forgotten she existed.“Put your mind at ease please, Madam…” Mira went on. “That cunning Old M

But the situation wasn't funny, especially when Lucas had this pleading look on his face. “Hey, take it easy…’’ she held up a hand and cleared her throat. “That's not how things work, you know…”“There's no one rule as to how we're supposed to reunite.”Heidi shook her head. “Is this a tactic to distract me from expressing my anger?”“You can be angry at me all you want. Well, she couldn't help the tone of her voice. “It was a silly decision I made.” He sighed, spacing out. “In the depths of the ocean, when I saw the silhouette of a young girl swimming towards me, trying to pull me out, I thought… ‘If we ever survive, I'll compensate her with the most important position to me. The status of future Mrs. Harrison.’”Wasn't the coincidence too high?Heidi ended up having that status without even his consent.Tracy was a liar, and she'd misunderstood Lucas's feelings. Heidi sprang to a sitting position instantly, hearing the voice coming from the door. Dread washed over, and instinctively, she pulled her baby into her arms, her eyes darting around for any possible escape route. Heidi's first instinct was to flee, but to where?“Daddy?” Her daughter, on the other hand, jumped in excitement. “Hey, Mommy! It's Daddy! Daddy's here!”The door's handle shifted as someone juggled it from the outside. The sounds of knocking increased. “Heidi, are you inside?”Lost at what to do, Heidi just stared at the door, hugging her baby. Lucas barged into the room as he kicked the door open. He came to a screeching halt right in front of her, almost colliding into the bed. “Heidi…” as he whispered her name, Heidi's eyes locked into his. All eyes turned to Harold, some blinking in shock and the rest widening. Heidi was confused too that of all people, Harold Olsen was the one who believed her.But from the look of guilt on his face and the way he sank onto the floor, literally kneeling in front of her, something was definitely fishy. “Heidi, please forgive me.”Heidi flinched when he held her knees. She stared at him, frowning. “Forgive you for what, Uncle?”“What did you do Dad!?” Zach hollered, his eyes filled with horror. The others looked fearful as well.Hanging his head, Harold shook it slowly. “I know saying this is probably too late. That night, Heidi didn't lose her child. When the police found her and Natalie, I orchestrated everything that happened after.”Several gasps spread across the room.Avoiding everyone's gaze, Harold said in a melancholic tone. “Having Heidi and Lucas Harrison together at that time meant the end of my sovereignty in this family. I did that to strip Heidi of her position- and…” He

I'm also seeing her!” Natalie gasped. “That's impossible, right?”“Unless we're all out of our minds!” Kate cackled. “Because we all might be seeing Heidi.”Lifting her head, Heidi glanced at everyone's face. Her gaze stopped at her mother whose expression was deadly pale. “Th- This- This isn't Heidi. ~During the car ride, Heidi's mind was muddled with different kinds of thoughts that brought worry to her heart. Her only solace was the little girl sitting beside her, holding her hand. “You're so quiet, Mommy…” she asked, “Is everything alright?”Heidi smiled, parting her hair to the side. “I'm okay, Baby.”“Where are we headed?” She murmured, glancing out of the car's window. “You brought me back, Mommy. Are you gonna drop me off at Nanny's place and disappear again.”Smoothing the tiny frown on the girl's forehead, Heidi's heart ached as she kept repeating that word. Disappearing hadn't be easy, and appearing again would definitely incure many repercussions. Heidi picked her up and sat her on her lap, hugging her. “I'd rather die than to disappear again.”Here she was, loathing death, something she'd actually been craving for the past three years. Her heart was an ocean of emotions and her tears never dried up, so much that her eyes were hurting. “Please, Mommy, stop crying

“For the first time, I'm agreeing with Jason's words.” Freya nodded. “Let's return her to the poor man, Heidi. We'll stay in this paradise forever.”“Don't mind them, I won't let you go.” Heidi patted her hair. She stared at Jason and Freya, communicating with her eyes. The two gave her crestfallen looks and sighed at the same time. That Night;Heidi rested on her bed, holding the baby close, and sniffing the familiar scent on her. Citrus mixed with lavender. The scent of the Harrisons Villa. A scent that only belonged to the man she loved. Whenever she thought of him in the past, she'd feel hate and remorse, but now… the thought of him brought fear to her heart, and a regret she couldn't deny. Beside her, the little girl shifted. She opened her sleepy eyes, her wide milky eyes blinking. “Why aren't you sleeping, Mommy?”“I just love staring at you.” H

From caressing the girl's hair, Heidi found herself drawing her close, wrapping her in a gentle embrace. “What's your name?” Uncertainty filling her heart, she asked in a hoarse voice. The little girl neither struggled nor made a sound of discomfort, she in fact snuggled deeper into Heidi's embrace. She murmured, “Nanny calls me Didi, but Daddy calls me Heidi.”Heidi shut her eyes, swallowing down a sudden lump in her throat. A soft laughter escaped her lips. “That's a beautiful name you have, Baby.”However, the little girl pulled away, furrowing her brows. “But my first Mommy dislikes it. She once argued with Daddy about it.”“Oh, is that so?” Sniffing back the tears threatening to burst out, Heidi forced a smile. “Why doesn't she like your name?”“Because she's a meanie. No tourists are allowed with a helicopter!”As Jason matched out of the room, Freya snickered. “He's doing a bad job managing this place. Too bad none of us can be in charge.”Under the pretense of working for the AG Group and managing the resorts here, Jason had moved to the mystic Island to be with her. One coincidence led to the guy clinging onto her.Driven by curiosity, he'd wandered into this cabin on a particular day, which was rumored to be haunted, and that was how he found her and Freya.
