255. The Wedding Date

Heidi left the Villa, devastation mixed with a feeling of guilt eating at her heart.

Why did she feel guilty, by the way?

Could she even admit to Lucas that it was his baby if Steve hadn't been the big obstacle on her path?

She walked down the empty street of the neighborhood, taking in the familiarity of the place she'd once resided.

The Harrison's Villa stood far behind, and Heidi glanced backward now and then as if expecting him to chase after her.

He'd always done that after all. Why would he, anyway, when he now hated her?

Wasn't that what she wanted? That he got off her back?

Her legs felt numb from walking for too long.

Unable to bear the heat from the sun either, Heidi sat under the shade of a tree by the roadside.

Her phone kept beeping with phone calls and text messages from Steve.

She ignored them and was about to dial John's number when Isla's call came in.

“It's the weekend, Isla. What's up? Did any problem arise at the company?”
