The room was filled with visitors just like her, some came with their parents, some in groups of friends. She was there with Landon to listen to Professor Aaron Dover who was giving an introduction to prospective students on University life. He emphasized how independent learning would hold the key to success in any field the students choose.
He gave a presentation on how the syllabus looked like, the credits that they needed to take in order to achieve the most with the least time spent in the faculty. He gave inputs on how to manage time for students who would consider taking up a part-time job while studying in the University, and other life advice that they needed to hear before entering higher education.
"Ask yourself this ... if you never have to worry about money ... what is the one thing that you would do in your life, for free? I hope the answer is what you have chosen to study here in UOG. But if you haven't got the answer to that,
When they had finished lunch, Landon took her on a walk along the avenue. There were shops that sold clothes, bags, and shoes. Even though they're not designer brands, those apparels were pretty pricey. Charlene went into a few of the stores and bought herself some dresses, and also something for her mom and sister. Landon waited outside most of the time, patiently, knowing that it was what he was supposed to do for her.It was almost sundown when Charlene decided that she was done for the day, they have walked quite far to the other end of the avenue from where Landon had parked his car. They had to walk all the way back, Landon offered to carry all 8 of her shopping bags. "You know, we look like a typical couple with all this?" he lifted both his arms decorated with 8 shopping bags."No we don't," she refused to admit it."It's true, why don't you take a look around, all of the guys who carry shopping bags are carrying
"Sweetheart ... I heard you're going to the party at campus tonight?" her dad greeted her in the dining room. She managed to avoid real conversations with him for the past week, but it seemed like that wasn't the case that morning."What party?" her tone was flat.Landon was sitting across from her father, eating a pancake with a knife and fork, "I was just telling your dad about the pre-summer party on campus since everyone is going home for summer on Monday, it's a tradition we have at UOG ... it's gonna be fun," he explained.Charlene took a seat beside Landon and put a napkin on her lap."Since you're also leaving on Monday, I thought it'd be nice to enjoy a party before you leave ... get a taste of the campus life," he elbowed her lightly."Sounds like a party for 18 years and older," she commented coldly."Well, since this is a special occasion, I will
Landon was right, yet again, she had a massive hangover the next day, she could barely get out of bed. When she didn't come down for breakfast, he knocked on her door to check if she was alright. She let his knock went unanswered. She packed her suitcase instead. She couldn't wait to go home the next day. He came knocking again after a while, she finally opened the door, gave him the cold shoulder."Water?" he lifted a big jug of water which she immediately grabbed from his hand."Thanks," she chugged it in."Are you okay?" he was being nice."No ... my head is about to explode, but thanks for asking," she closed the door on him.He knew she remembered what he had tried to do the night before, thus her unfriendly gesture toward him. She avoided contact with everyone in the last two days she stayed there. She kept her goodbye short and cold, both to her dad and Landon.&nbs
The cabin door was unlocked, but there was nobody around. She decided to step in and called out for Tommy. She heard the shower was on, she closed the front door and walked towards the bathroom door. "Tommy?" she called out, the shower was turned off. The door opened from the inside, and those blue eyes greeted her. She bolted into the door and jumped on him, he was wet with only a towel wrapped around his waist. She wrapped her arms and legs around him, and kissed him. He was the most beautiful sight that she'd been yearning to see for the past two weeks. "I missed you too, Charlie," he told her under his breath. She took her clothes off, he carried her up the stairs to the bed under the ceiling. No other words were exchanged, their lips locked in a long passionate kiss. They made love to each other like the world was going to end if they don't. She was back to the reality that she had chosen for herself, back to Tommy, to whom her heart would always come home
The minute summer started in Blubridge, Charlie had pretty much left Gastonburry behind her. Her heart swelled in the warm summer breeze, she clings to that blue-eyed boy, skin to skin, mouth to mouth, hand in hand, falling head over heels with each other like nothing else mattered. His thick red lips were driving her crazy, she just couldn't resist not kissing him all the time. And he was dying of insecurities, knowing how deep he had fallen in love with her without a single thread of confidence that he was worthy of her love. He never knew love the way he knew it with Charlie, he never had anyone that could make him feel so happy just to be around them. He didn't have much to give her, but he would give her everything he's got.He took her out on a picnic in his old beat up pick up truck. Under the Bluebridge sky, waiting for the sun to set. Out in the field, far from anyone, and laid out picnic blankets on the back. They laid there and ta
He promised to tell her everything, but the one thing he wasn't ready for, was forCharlie to meet his father. The demon he kept hidden inside him, the source of his pain, the pathetic excuse of a man whom he feared all his life to be his mirror. His deepest fear was to end up like his father one day, he even believed that he might, until he met Charlie. He swore he would do whatever it takes to never be like him, not if he wants to keep Charlie in his life."I can't take you with me, Charlie, not today ... please ..." his hands trembled when she held them."It's okay, Tommy, you've told me how he is, I can handle it," she assured him.He shook his head, "No ... I can't, not today, baby, please ..." he sounded like a wounded boy, pleading for help."I don't care how terrible he is, I know you're not like him ... you're not him, Tommy, I'm coming with you," she insisted. He took a deep breath, fi
August was almost over, Tommy's birthday was on the 30th. A date that she had to dig through his friends because he wouldn't tell her. He doesn't really celebrate his birthday, Charlene decided to organize a surprise party at the cabin for his 20th birthday before he leaves for Goldstone in September.Tommy was meeting her near her house to go to the cabin together, while his friends were secretly gathering at the cabin. She was about to leave through the back door when her mom stopped her. "Where are you off to, young lady?" her voice stern and demanding. She turned around, knowing she had been gone almost every day since summer began. "You're seeing him again? Don't you think you've been seeing him too often? You've been gone every day, I almost never see you at home anymore?" her mom sighed."It's his birthday today, mom, we're having a surprise party for him," she told her. Her mom nodded softly and sat on the chair by the kitchen table.
She ran out the front door as soon as she finished breakfast, her mom had to run after her and shouted on the lawn, "Charlene! Be back before lunch! Your dad is coming home today!" She waved at her mom, acknowledging her request, she kept running. It was the day that Tommy was leaving for Goldstone, the last day of summer holiday. She ran without stopping when people who knew her called out her name along the way to the cabin. She had to see him before he goes away. She jumped on his back when she saw him loading up his truck with his stuff. She nibbled his ear and kissed the side of his face. "God ... you smell good," he said as she climbed down his back, and then he turned around to pick her up from the front."Can't you stay a bit longer?" she was hoping."I have to be there before 3 P.M., work starts at 4, I can't be late ... it's my first day."She pouted her lips, followed by a faint smile, "Ju
When he was a boy, he never really pictured how his life would be when he grows up. Throughout his adolescence, when he explored with girls and his sexuality, he never had an image of what his dream girl would be like. He never really thought about it.When he met Charlie, he just knew, it had to be her.She wasn't a light packer. She stuffed his Honda with three suitcases and three boxes of her belongings to last her for the whole summer. She sat on the passenger seat, lifted her lean legs on the dashboard, the sun reflected on her face and hair, he thought he must've been dreaming. He was moving to the city that he always said he would, he was going to start working where he always said he would, and he was accompanied by the girl of his dream. The girl who had pushed him to chase his own dreams. She was his reason for everything. Most importantly, she loves him."What?" Charli
Charlie was outside on the lawn, she was talking to Charlotte as they sat on the white bench. It was a typical afternoon in a small town like Bluebridge, where people spend their time together just talking, sipping tea, or take an afternoon walk along the pathways. Some spend it at the lake or on a picnic at the grassy field. He'd miss all those things, he'll remember it as his hometown. Bluebridge will be a place where he'll probably visit once a year and less often with each passing year.He was watching them from inside. Her smile was infectious, he smiled just looking at her smile. 'Cried for months' her mother said. She really did love him, something he still has a hard time believing. He was going to be better this time, he can't slip up again. Whatever it takes to keep her in his life, he will do it.He stepped out of the front door. Charlie waved at him to come and meet Charlotte. "This is my boyfriend Tom ... this is Charlotte, my s
To be back with Tommy was easy. It didn't need any getting used to, even after being apart longer than they've been together. Landon felt more like a strangerthan Tommy ever was. They were glued to each other. Leaving their friends shaking their heads because of how intensely they're drawn to each other. They've always known that, it was partly why they had teased the couple a lot when they were 'broken up' for a short period of time. There was a pull between them that was undeniable, no matter how hard they tried. She had been contemplating the idea for a few days. She wasn't ready to be parted from Tommy just yet. The thought of spending summer in Bluebridge without him was torture. She always wanted to go to Goldstone, now that she was old enough to experience the city, it was the best time than any for her to go. Although she knew that asking her parents for permission would be nearly impossible, she had to try, at least with her mom.
They spent a great part of that day lying naked on the bed. Tangled between the sheets, tangled with each other. Curled up, on top of, head on lap, head on chest, in and out, lips locked, and some talking. She was resting her head on his stomach and caressing the inner of his thigh."Tell me ... how many people in Goldstone have seen you bare naked with nothing on you?" she was curious. He rubbed his head, embarrassed, "God ... a lot ... at least half of the city, excluding the tourists."She bit her lip while smiling, "That's a lot of people ... did they ever touch you?"His hand was stroking her breast. "They tried ... it wasn't allowed ... they tried to get me into private sessions, they slipped their phone numbers in my pocket after the show ... they grabbed my crotch, my ass ... it was degrading ... funny how people can be so demeaning when they think they have the right to do that, they would n
Her mom told her to be away from the house as she was going to have 'the talk' with her dad. The first place she thought of going was the cabin. She put on her buttoned shirt and short pants and took off half running in her flip flops. It was not even seven in the morning when she knocked on the door. It took a while until Tommy finally opened the door, shirtless, and was still drowsy from being woken up.His hair was messy, his eyes were barely opened, his thick red lips were plumped from just waking up. He rubbed his face as he opened the door. "Charlie? What are you doing here so early?" His chest hair was unshaven his six-pack was neat and clean. Clearly, he'd been keeping in shape even when he was not working. His boxer hung on his pelvis bones just enough to cover the top of his roots. He was drop-dead gorgeous. She pushed him inside, closed the door behind her. She looped her arms around his neck. In an instant, he knew, she was comin
Bill Ludlow enjoys his coffee at the dining table every morning, with his wife serving him breakfast and the fresh newspaper laid on the table for him. Catherine sat on the chair across from him, sipping her own cup of tea. She was exceptionally calm that morning. She had planned a plan of attack on her husband in regards of recent development about their daughter. She was holding herself from lashing out after hearing about his one-sided decision in the engagement of her daughter and his business partner's son."It's awfully quiet this morning ... where is everybody? Are they all still asleep?" he asked."No ... everyone's away ... it's just us," she said calmly. He put down his newspaper to peek at his wife, "Really? So early? Where did they go?"Catherine put down her cup. "Charlotte's at her swimming lesson, Charlene went to her friend's house and Landon ... well ... I sent him home last night af
He hadn't completely recovered from her words, 'It's over with him'. Something twisted in his stomach. He wanted more time with her. What happened? Did you break it off? Why? Do you know how much I still want you? She said she wanted to go to the screening with him, as friends? Can we go back to the way we were before? Can I kiss your mouth like the world is going to end?How he long to touch her when she said it, but then she walked away, crossed the lawn and someone came out from inside the house. It was him. He was staying at the house? He stood there in the dark and watched them interact."What the hell were you doing outside with that guy? It's him, isn't it?? The guy you were seeing last year?!" Landon was upset."It's none of your business, Landon," she dismissed him and walked past him.He grabbed her arm. "Damn it, Charlene!! Is that why you wanted to break up with me? Because he's back in y
Ever since her father became Mayor, things were a little different around the house. Security guards followed him around, it wasn't necessary, it was protocol. They were always seen standing around his official car with nothing to do. The house had become a regular venue for the officials' wives club every other week. And on her birthday, all the same, people came as guests, which didn't feel so special to her anymore.Landon came barring gifts and mingled with her parents and their guests. She tried to avoid him by sitting with her friends and always find a crowd whenever he tried to talk to her. She never wanted to be alone with him anymore. He was on his best behavior. Charming, witty, and engaged in smart conversations about finance, politics, and the world economy. All the boring stuff he always swayed the grownups with, until he asked her hand for the birthday dance, which she couldn't refuse given the circumstances.
She didn't come to the bonfire the next day, but she cameto the one on the weekend after that. She didn't want to put herself around Tommy too often, it was still hard for her too. They both still felt the jitters when they sat side by side with each other, it was the only spot their friends left for her that night, right next to Tommy. He can smell her soft cologne as she sat down. The sweet smell coming from the nape of her neck, the place where she most loves to be kissed. He cleared his throat, hugged his knees while nervously biting on the toothpick in the corner of his lips."Hi," she greeted him."Hey," he nodded. She wore a dress with the skirt just above the knee. The fabric was light and loose. It hiked up when she sat, showing parts of her skin, glowing as the bonfire reflected on them. He tried not to look. He can smell the scent of her body lotion when she moved around beside him.
