Once the warriors moved the three out of the room, the doctor and nurses checked both Ronnie and me out once more, and then they left as well. I finally collapsed against the bed, and Ronnie and my father came to stand in front of me.

“Are you alright?” My dad stared down at me until I nodded.

“I am just exhausted. How are you handling everything?” I gestured to the both of them.

My dad turned to Ronnie and clapped him on the shoulder. “I’d never question you, but I have to ask. Are you sure?” I could hear the hope in his voice. Even after everything that had just happened, he was hopeful.

“Am I sure I know who stabbed me in my stomach?” Ronnie gave a tired chuckle. “Yeah Gav, I am.” He sagged next to me on the side of the bed. “I checked on him after the Agora and the attack. He was in bed, but healed. I told him about the attack and he played it off as if he knew nothing. With all the injured coming into the hospital, he got dressed.” He looked over at me. “Your dad mind-linked me

I started attacking before I could think. My mate was in the center of this death ring of attackers, and I had to get to his side. Megan! I screamed, and I watched her wince. Start funneling him power. He’s weak and not healing. Okay! She ran back into the trees. And soon I felt the pull of power, and my stomach untwisted. Rowan’s head snapped up, and I saw a little panic enter his eyes. “GO!” He bellowed at me as I grabbed another wolf and shook it. Sequan dodged in next to me, and together we started tag teaming the wolves from the back. “I said leave me!” Rowan screamed again after he had swiped the face off a wolf trying to sneak in from behind. I refused to answer him or even look at him. He wasn’t going to convince me to leave him here, ready to die at the edge of the fight. “Stupid man.” I growled lowly as I raked my claws down another’s flank. It took a few deaths before the crowd realized we were attacking from the back. Some turned to face us, but they were no match for

I pushed past the barrier, and I felt my soul join Nix’s as she was shattering another wolfs skull. A chucky substance hit the back of my throat, and I pulled back enough to spit it out. I refused to look down as I gagged. I heard a snicker from my wolf, but I gagged again. “You did that on purpose.” I choked out.Nix shook her head. No, but I didn’t expect you to come back so quickly. I took a second before I turned to the others. Toya and Roderick were checking over Femi. “How long were we gone?”Nix turned away from the family. Less than five minutes. Roderick and I dealt with the four wolves that tried to approach easily. But the fighting near the pack house has gotten worse. And our father called for us while you were gone. “Are we ready to go?” I called to the trio, and they turned. Femi stood and walked for a second before she nodded. “Let’s go find our pup.” Roderick nodded, and I turned to Toya. “Go with you parents.” I turned towards the pack house. “I have to fight my w

Mama, it’s me. Urbi ran towards the fire, and her mother followed us. Why are you here? She glared at me. I’ve allowed no one but my family into my sanctuary. She turned on her daughter with a growl. Why did you bring her here?I’m here to save you. I climbed down from Urbis back. Will you allow me to? I held out my hand and waited. She glared for another moment then walked over, sinking into the sand next to me. What do you need?I just need to touch you. She nodded once, and I placed my hand on her leg, where she was hurt. I sent a call to Megan, and I felt power rush through me, through Toya, and into her mother. She growled, but quieted as she felt the power rush through her. What is that? Her eyes grew wide as she turned to me. Magic. Not healing per se, but extra power. You can direct it to do what you need. You know your body better than I do. She shuddered, and I felt her skin jumping under my hand, the power making the muscles dance. I can use magic? She sounded breathle

Nix, I called to my wolf. I attacked without mercy, moving from wolf to the next as soon as I had killed the one in my jaws. The surrounding bodies grew into a morbid pile. Yeah? She was standing ready. Is Megan back to normal? I questioned as I attacked the next brave wolf. My teeth sank into her shoulder, and I whipped my head back and forth, tearing the flesh away in a hunk. I spit it out before I lunged again, sinking my teeth around her neck, and I shook again. The crack was loud, and the wolf went limp. I dropped her and spun as I felt the air move behind our group. I leapt over the two women I was protecting and spun. I landed on the back of a big male. He snapped at me, and we both saw the moons at the same time.“Daddy!” Toya screamed as I dropped down.“Sorry, Roderick.” I bumped his shoulder as I moved to protect the trio. Another wolf circled, and he growled. “Check your mate. I will handle this mutt.” The grey wolf tried to sneak up behind us, and I pushed up from the g

Megan was holding back from me. “What are you keeping from me?” I dodged another attack, but my wolf remained silent. I waited for another minute, but still she refused to even look at me. “Fine. If you don’t want to tell me, to trust me, then I will do things my way.” Her head snapped around, and Nix growled. But I ignored both of them and attacked the wolf in front of me. I just needed to injure it enough to get by. Megan growled. You are wasting time. “And you are lying to me. Something we promised years ago to stop doing.” I managed to grab the wolfs leg, and I heard a snap. I dropped it at my feet, then turned and headed straight for Toya. “So either we trust each other, or we don’t. You can’t ask me to blindly trust you when you won’t do the same for me. You either trust me to do what’s right, or you don’t.” I made it to the ring of wolves attacking Toya and her mother, and I started snapping at legs. “Make your decision before I make it for us.”Megan looked at Nix, but my Ly

Theo’s head dropped, his eyes stuck on the spot where his soul was crushed, and Selene turned to me. “We have to go.” She walked over. “Come, sister.”I felt a tugging sensation in my chest, and the green smoke flowed from my nose and mouth. The smoke condensed into a thick cloud of dark green, and Hecate stepped out. Before I could stop my mouth, her name slipped out. “Henny.”The Maiden nodded once before she paused and then shook her head. “Once upon a time, I was, but she was lost ages ago.” She shifted into the Mother. “I gave up that name when Kane died.” I stepped over to her, and without thinking, pulled her into a hug. “I’m sorry you had to go through that.” I turned to Selene and did the same with her. “Both of you deserved more. Having the person you love betray you cuts deeper than most things.”Both goddesses looked at me and chuckled. Selene pulled out of the hug. “Never in my life have I been comforted by someone I created.”Hecate chuckled. “We are the ones usually co
