Hayley sighed as she walked along the path to the forest, with her hands behind her head, watching the birds as they fly above. Wishing that she could be free like them, especially the yellow and blue one. She could tell he was a character among its flock, and had a personality from the way he flew, looping around the others. He even sung loudly, just like her.
But no, instead she was trapped under a dome. (It wasn't a dome, but it sure felt like it.)
Somehow, the weather was being controlled. It was winter all around them, but for whatever reason, it was always summer, spring, or raining inside her prison.
But little did they know Hayley found a way to leave, a weak link in the so called almighty barrier. It was all because two different territories crossed, it sort of weaken the spells.
Normally at any other point in the town, it would be hard to cross over, unless the Alpha was there, or a court guard to let you through.
Hayley didn't quite understand how it worked. She didn't want to know either. She surely won't know, not now, that her great escape was underway.
Even though it was Were-bear territory over the line, and they rarely get along with each other. She hoped that since she was human, they would go easy on her.
She looked back behind her, wondering if she was making the right decision, but nothing felt more right to her than to leave.
For all the years of her life, she could feel something pulling her, telling her to come to the mountains and the valley below.
Hayley paid attention back to where she was going, again thinking if it was safe for her to cross the border. For there were scarier things out there than just were-bears.
But it was a risk she was willing to take, just to leave, even if she was staring death in the eyes she wouldn't mind. As long as she wasn't suffering at the hands of anyone in the so call pack, she would be fine.
Besides, she didn't think death was as horrible as getting sprayed by a skunk, and having its stink on you for a week.
Hayley looked around once more, to make sure no one was around to stop her.
As she stepped under the barbed wire, goose bumps married her skin immediately. The cold caused her to shake uncontrollably, but she had a smile on her face. She was now finally free. She could do whatever she wanted, go where the wind takes her.
While she sat there, her mind drifted to what it would be like if she knew her parents. She bet if they were still alive, she wouldn't be in this encampment, and even if she was, it wouldn't be so bad.
"Oh poo." Hayley said from her seat on the boulder.
The smile she had soon faded away as realisation dawned on her. She had no food, which was the most important thing to. Her only clothes were the one on her back, which wasn't enough to fight off the biting cold.
Heck, she didn't have anything with her. Just homework. She didn’t even have a proper plan, either. All she got to was cross the border, and that's it.
"Remember who you are." A faint voice came.
"What? Hello?" Hayley called, looking behind her. "I swear to gods if one of you idiots is playing tricks on me."
"Remember who you are." The voice came again, and with it, a strong wind picked up. Somehow causing snow to swirl around Hayley, the flakes seem to cut at her face, causing her to hold her hands up and fend them off.
When the strange snow died down, the bush off to the right of Hayley rustled and she swore she saw someone ducking back into them.
"Hello?" She called. Getting up to see who it could have been.
"Is someone there?" She felt foolish for asking, because if she had learnt anything from all those movies she watched was to never go investigating.
But her curiosity had already been peaked, and she wasn't ready to go home just yet.
Hayley crouched down and crawled to the other side of the bush, where she seemed to have been transported to another world.
"Narnia?" She asked aloud, glad no one was around to hear her.
But the scene before her was far from the Disney movie.
The place wasn't snowy, but instead the ground had dried grass and dead bodies piled on the ground.
She watched in horror as a woman dress in a royal blue gown ran from a group of men that was chasing after her, but they soon cornered her.
"Stay back, you have already taken my child. What more do you want?" Her voice came, sounding as if she was underwater.
Hayley watched on in horror as someone plunged their sword into the woman's stomach.
"No!!" Hayley screamed out, watching as her the word coming from her mouth went out in waves, but the people before her didn't seem to notice her.
"Get back." The woman said, holding out her bloody hands to her attackers, but they still advanced on her.
"You foolish people." The woman managed out as she was taking her final breath. "All will be lost when I die. The moon goddess will take her revenge on you all." She said right before her life force was drained from her.
Hayley stood frozen in place with tears streaming down her face. She didn't know why she was crying for a woman she didn't know or why no one seemed to notice her.
The moment the woman's body hit the ground, she began to glow. And even though Hayley was willing herself to move, she couldn't, and even when the woman seemed to disintegrate, she still couldn't move.
There was a blast, which blew Hayley back. When she sat up on the ground, she saw that the village was no more, where it was supposed to be was nothing but a snowy ground.
"What the hell?" Hayley said in confusion.
She got off the ground, brushing off her pants, and that's when she noticed a pendent in her hand.
Out of fright, she dropped it, wondering when and how she got the thing.
The second the pendent touched the ground, the surrounding snow melted.
"I must be dreaming." Hayley pinched herself to see if she would wake up, but all she got was a bruised arm.
"Remember who you are and where you came from." A voice floated by.
"Ok whoever you are. I bet it is one of you dumbass trying to psychic me out."
Hayley picked up the circle shaped pendent that was made of gold on the outside and other materials for the middle. She examined it, wondering how come it's not hot, despite it melting the snow.
She tried to read the words that had been encrusted, only to realize that it wasn't English.
Upon closer inspection, Hayley noted that the wolf in the centre had red rubies for the eyes and seemed to be howling at a black moon.
She scratched at her head, thinking that there was no way any of those idiots her age could have made such an incredible illusion.
Hayley wanted answers, but for now that had to wait, because her stomach was rumbling, and her frozen fingers were protesting. Hayley took one last look at the spot that had showed the weird vision, and one last look at her freedom, then went home. She cursed herself for being so dumb and unprepared. But next time she won't. A new life was in her grasp. She was thinking about something else now. What was that vision she just saw? And what was with that pendent? Hayley stopped just outside of the house she grew up in, looking up at it. Despite the feeling she had of wanting to run away, she was still grateful to the Blackwater’s. The Alpha didn't know what to do with her when he found her. Even though everyone warned them not to, they thought it would be good to have a sister for their daughter to play with, so they never listened and raised Hayley as their own. Their affection and love towards Hayley never changed. It was like she was truly their child and was always present in
Hayley stared up at the ugly brown stone building they called a school, but she called it the worst 6 years of her life. It was the place they bullied her the most, the place she felt more alone. A slow smile creeped onto her face. It was almost summer, which means she was almost at the end of the school year and won't have to set foot back in it ever again. "Watch it loser." Someone said, bumping into her, as if they couldn’t just walk around. "Wolfless." Someone else came up to her saying. "Flea bag!" She shot back. "That's it, I'm gone." Hayley decided, making a beeline with the duffle bag she had. She once again found herself in the forest, ready to make her great escape. But all she saw was a heated make-out session between her adopted sister, Carrie, and a different guy from last night. Hayley was about to turn around, but her need to leave was much greater. So she tried to walk as quietly as possible. As she got closer to them, she stepped on a branch, then froze. She di
"As sweet as I thought, not like any other wolves' blood I have tasted." He grabbed Hayley by the throat, pulling her closer to him as his mouth opened wide. He sniffed at her neck. “Don't worry. It will be over before you know." But before he could bite her, there was a roar with a large furry body crashing into them. After the hold broke, Hayley was on the ground. If it wasn’t for Carrie who pulled her to her feet, she would have been crushed under the hissing and roaring battle between the vampire and the bear. "Run you two." The bear said. The vampire used his moment of distraction to run full force into the bear, hitting him to the ground. The vampire then ran towards Hayley and Carrie, but by that time, they have already crossed back to their territory. "He's not chasing us." Hayley said. “That’s because he can’t cross the border." Carrie said. "Go you two!" The bear yelled, before rearing up on its hind legs then sunk his teeth into the vampire, who gave a cry. Black
Hayley dragged herself to school the next morning, and through the halls, where her other school mates were milling around, waiting for the gym to open. "Sorry." Hayley said. After bumping into someone, when she didn't hear a response, she glanced over her shoulder to see that no one was there. "Must have been the wall." She mumbled to herself, then continued on. Making sure to stay at the back so that no one picked on her. Even though it was Saturday, all the teenagers that were between the ages of 16 and 18 had to gather in the gym for an endurance training. This was so that the teen wolves in the pack, that included Hayley, could show case any skills and abilities they might have. 'Why do I always have to do this?' Hayley asked herself. Blowing strands of hair out of her face, the only thing she could do was run her mouth and somehow finish the obstacle courses they set up. Other than that, she couldn't go wolf, and she had no powers. "The changing room is open." Someone said
After a long afternoon in the boiling hot gym, they were finally done with their training, and Hayley followed behind the crowd to take a shower. "Seems like you took a beating." Josie said, falling into steps beside Hayley. "I am sore in places I never thought possible." Josie gave a laugh. "I feel just great." "Yeah, you're a wolf. I'm not. So, can you maybe help me? I took a pretty nasty fall back there." Hayley said, pointing at her side. "Sure.'' Josie removed her glasses. After seeing all the places Hayley was hurt, she laid her hand on the areas and healed her. Also, secretly trying to heal her broken core, but it didn't seem to work. Hayley felt a slight shock and jumped. "Sorry, but you are all healed now." "Thanks." When Hayley pushed the locker room door open, all eyes turned to her, in the same time Davina threw a towel in her face. "There, much better. Now we don't have to worry about turning to stone from that ugly face of yours." Hayley removed the wet towel
Hayley stood when she saw Kane and Conrad. Kane looked annoyed about something as he didn't look her way while entering his office. "I want to go first." Davina said, basically pushing her friends out of the way, racing to the office. "Knock yourself out," Hayley mumbled. "I'll just sit here, like I have been doing." Hayley waited in the hall to speak with Kane, but it was a long wait. All because Davina wanted to go first, no doubt to mix and twist the story her way, to make herself look good and make Hayley seem like the bad guy. All Hayley could hear was crying, as Davina told nothing but lies. Then there was a pause, followed by laughs and a round of applause. Hayley leant over to see through the open door, then sighed. "Leave it up it you Davina.'' She said after seeing what was going on in the office. Davina and her friends were the town's whores, so they were actually now doing less talking and more flirting. Davina was that type of girl that would do any, and everythin
Hayley tried to get the thought of Kane being forced to take a mate out of her mind. She didn't think it mattered to her, because she knew that if the Alpha should choose a mate. It wouldn't be her. Alison, one of the court guards, Sora another court guard, or maybe even Davina, would be the option from what she just saw in the office. Hayley could see it now. Davina 'the queen luna'. Telling them that if they weren't pretty enough, they would be banished. Or if they were prettier than her, their heads would be chopped off. "Hey," a voice said. Hayley already knew that it belong to Axel, the Alpha's little brother. “Hey, Axel." Hayley greeted. Her tone was soft, as she was on the verge of crying. "O- or you ok. Your voice seems." "I'm fine Axel, it's my monster voice." She told him. Axel raised a brow at her. “Why did you say my name like that?" "Because I am a monster, not a wolf or human, but a monster." Hayley told him. Axel smiled. “You’re not." "Yeah, you know me,'
Hayley sat on the edge of Kane's bed with her back to him, listening as he read from a book. "Atlantis is a real place, though under water and unreachable by the very humans that caused it to sink." Kane's voice came out, as smooth as usual. Suddenly, he stopped reading to wrap his arm around Hayley to pull her towards him. What are the thoughts of the girl that thinks too much? He joked. "This. This is not right. I mean, what if someone finds out about us? No, scratch that. More people find out about us." "So, what can they do?" "My mother gave me a lecture about staying away from you. Then there is Davina, who claims you as her mate. And is warning me to stay away from you." Kane kissed the side of her head. "Hayley. I am the Alpha. When I tell you to not worry, then don't worry. Leave everything to me." As a way to forget, she sighed. She inquired about a few other things that were bothering her. "Today, in endurance, Josie told me that my core is broken. Do you think that
Hayley woke at dawn to a delicious sore feeling down below. She rolled over to see Kane exiting the bathroom wearing only a towel, displaying his muscular body. Her lips parted with appreciation, while a smile played on his lips. "Like what you see?" Kane flexed his pec muscles, making them jump. "Mouthwatering." She bit her lips. Her eyes riveted to the bulge behind his towel that swayed when he walked. He abruptly turned, catching her staring. He smirked. "Need help with that?" Kane chuckled, "you are such a sex addict." "You are my mate, so it's fine." In no time, Hayley was stooping before Kane. Once she'd removed the towel, his erection jerked as if excited to have her eyes on it. "What are you going to do?" He moved his hips forward. Hayley gave a wicked smile before taking his length in her mouth, making him groan. When she pulled back to catch her breath, Kane roughly dragged her
"Yes, no. I don't know anymore." Holly cried."There is no need to be scared. Take it easy." Hayley touched her shoulder."They did something to me." Holly looked at her."They?""Yes. I wasn't even at school for a month after my second year of college, before being kidnapped. My boyfriend, well, I thought he was my boyfriend. He was there.""What did they do to you?" Kane asked.Holly looked at him, her eyes unreadable."We went to a party. It was a welcome back to school type of thing. When the party was over, my boyfriend wanted to stay even though I insisted on going home. The next thing I know, I was drugged and then…" She trailed off."And then what? Tell me what happened to you." Gunther said, taking her face in his hands.Holly sobbed, her body shaking. Her voice had turned to a whisper as she spoke again. "When I woke up, I was naked and on a stone altar for some kind of ritual. There were at least four o
The next morning, Hayley woke up feeling angry for no reason."Morning." Kane greeted, trying to pull her into a hug, but she kept moving away."No good morning kiss?""I'm not in the mood, Kane."Kane glanced over at his mate."That's a first."Hayley rolled to her side, facing away from him."Are you alright?""Can you not talk at all?""Ok." Whispered Kane."Can you go too, please?""Go?""Leave the room.""I- ok."Kane got up with a sigh, then head to the bathroom, where he took a shower, brushed his teeth and shaved.Just as he was drying his face, he felt a presence behind him. He turned, thinking that it was Hayley, but saw no one."Should I bring you breakfast?"Hayley didn't respond. Instead, she turned the other way, to face away from Kane again."I guess that's a no."Kane gently closed the door behind him, making his way to breakfast.
Kane and Hayley met up with Gunther, who was downing a glass of dark liquid. He coughed, "dragon's breath."Gunther glanced up at the stairs to where the vampire had his mate in chains. Not long after, the dirty-looking girl was standing before the Delta."What did you do?" She asked, her voice trembling."There is no time to explain, you have to come with me," Gunther told her."Why should I trust you? I am nothing but a human.""You are my mate. It is my duty to protect you. But I promise, if you come with me, I will never hurt you."Before the girl could respond, the vampire was standing by her. He had a smile on his face and an evil glint in his eyes.He placed a hand on the girl's head, turning it slowly so that her wide eyes can stare at him."You know better than to wander off. Now come.""Yes." The girl held her head low and walked with him."Is he keeping her like some kind of pet?" Sam aske
When Hayley got back to Kane, he had a bath ready for her, as promised."Hey.""Hayley," Kane said.Picking off petals from a rose and dropping them in the water."You aren't mad at me, are you?" She asked."Why would I be?""I just killed."Kane chuckled, "if you didn't, I would have done it myself."Hayley moved over to kiss Kane. He kissed her back, then pulled away."My mate." He said, burying his face in her neck.He pulled back, then peeled her clothes off."Gods, you are so perfect." Kane took a step back, running his eyes over Hayley's body."So gods damn perfect." He said."Is there something you want to do about it?" Hayley breathingly asked."Let's get you cleaned first."Kane helped Hayley into the tub. When she sat down, he removed his clothes sit behind her.Hayley leant back into him, already feeling his erection growing.Kane applied soap on Hayley's
Hayley woke to having a cottonmouth. It was so dry she couldn't feel her tongue. She licked her lips, moving her tongue to make sure it was still there.Hayley rolled on her back with a groan, then bolted upright."What the gods just happened?"She looked around to see that she was in the cherry field, then what happened came back to her.Clutching her still aching neck, she gazed around again, then got up."That little shithead," Hayley said, stumbling as she took a step. Her vision swam and the place span."I am going to squeeze that bitch's neck until her eyes pop out."When Hayley made her way back to the centre of the town, she came upon three headless bodies that were also missing a few limbs and the pack gathered around."What happened here?""Some creature was on a rampage, but ran away after."Hayley hurried to the packhouse to see Kane, Gunther and Axel in a discussion."It's Conrad,
Hayley gave up on what to do on how to get Conrad. She wanted to put a stop to him once and for all but his scent wasn't anywhere near the pack territory. When she got back to the house, the former Beta was in the office, telling Kane how disgusted he was with his son's action."I am ashamed to call that boy my son. In my days, I wouldn't think of disrespecting a woman or going as far as challenging the Alpha. It goes to show that he is weak, and after all those years, he only got worse.""Good afternoon." Hayley greeted, just to be respectful, even though Angelo was one of them that wanted to leave her the night she was found."Luna." He gave a smile and now."I should have seen it, but your father was the one that kept that boy safe. If it was up to me, he would be in a grave.""Angelo, don't talk like that. He is still your son.""Son?" The older man scoffed. "Did he see my mate as someone that cared for him? No, he lashed out afte
Hayley now has come to terms with the fact that she can never have a perfect day or a day where she relaxes. She pulled away from Kane.’’What is it?’’“Something just happened.’’ She said, trying to figure out what, but Kane pulled her back into a kiss.’’The only thing that is going to happen is me bending you over again.’’ Kane said, breaking the kiss. Before he could kiss Hayley again, a knock came at the door.’’And there goes that.’’ Hayley said.Kane let out a soft growl before getting up, when he opened the door, the guard before him did a salute."Conrad was spotted at the border, he attacked a woodland creature. She is hardly alive." A court guard said."Imp, he attacks an Imp," Gunther said, pushing his glasses up his nose. He, along with Axel, was standing behind the guard.."I think it was the one that mage
Kane and Hayley were in a heated make-out session, in the office, the door was locked and there wasn't anyone around to disturb them, like those countless other times."Are you ready for this?" Kane asked.Hayley broke the kiss to stare up at Kane. Instead of unbuttoning her blouse, she ripped it from her body."That's a yes then." Hayley began to kiss her again.Hayley could feel Kane's need in every kiss and every nibble."To the bedroom." Harley breathed out.Kane lift her and she wrapped her legs around his waist as he brought her to their bedroom, never breaking their kiss."I need you so bad," Kane kissed her deeply, before kicking the door open and slamming it behind him."Then don't stop."Hayley used her hands to put his hand on her breast.Kane growled before throwing Hayley on the bed, then climbed on top of her.He kissed her deeply again, struggling to unbutton his pants while trying to remove
