The Surprise

After Jan and Shin buy the left items from the other store, they called their youngest sibling Hea Bum which stays at home.

“Bum, what’s up are you done?” Shin asked, “I’m not done yet, did you buy balloons and poppers?” Bum responded.

“Yes, where’s mama and papa?” Shin continues, “Papa just tour her at the backyard garden they were looking at the newly plant ornaments up there. But please don’t be late less than an hour they will be here so hurry up,” said Bum.

“Yes, we will be there in ten minutes,” Shin added, “Did they notice what you’re doing there?” Shin further asked Bum.

“No!” Bum answered and laughed, “After you walked from here, I told them they will take a walk in the backyard to check on the new plants and clear some weeds. I also told them it’s good for their body to release some sweats under the early sunlight so they agreed and walk together. They were sweet, they hold their hands and sing their favorite song while roaming around their little paradise. I love them so much.”

“Oh! So sweet, I hope I could find the guy who will love me as our father did to our mother.” Shin responded talking in her phone closing her eyes imagining her real life. Then Jan Lee looks at his sister when he notices the gentlemen in their surroundings are observing her.

“Hey,” Jan Lee bumps his sister and teased her. Shin Ki open her eyes after Jan Lee’s elbow hit her side. Then Jan Lee said, “They are many, you can choose one of them,” he signaled her by lifting his forehead and lead her eyes to the guys.

Shin Ki twist his side and said, “Do you think it is easy to choose a person like our father?” while widening her eyes.

He laughs and said, “Yeah I know, just kidding.”

A few seconds later, Jan Lee’s phone rang.

“Hey, where are you? Why is your bike not yet in front of the house?” Jim Han called him after he turns off the engine, “Hurry up we still need to set up the kitchen Hae Bum cannot do it alone.”

“Wow, bro!” Jan Lee speaks surprisingly, “It’s a miracle, why you’re so quick? What did you eat this morning that makes you so fast?” Then they both laugh.

Their friend neighbor saw them in the store and notices how happy they are. A lady approaches their neighbor and asked if she knows those youth for their voice were heard around them. Then their neighbor told her the story and how they live together.

“Jan Lee, Jim Han, Shin Ki, Hea Bum and their parents were closed together. They were a happy family. They love each other and willing to talk with one another whenever problems occur. Their parents raised them on the farm. They grow together and watched their parents in hardship and happiness. A few years ago, their mother was admitted to the hospital due to her chest pain. They were having a hard time providing financial and they struggle with their studies. Through the collections from their tenants, crops, and relatives they were able to pay the bills and able to release their mother from the hospital. The other year, their father almost died due to a car accident. At that time, they don’t know what to do because their father is the one who does for their needs and their education. But their mother was a strong woman who leads them and gives them the strength to fight their trials. After months in the hospital, they were able to pay for everything and bring their father home. This celebration is very important for them because they are not just celebrating the 25th wedding anniversary of their parents but also it’s their thanksgiving celebration for their family on how they overcome their trials,” their neighbor smiled after telling the story with the other lady.

Jan Lee then pulled Shin Ki’s arm and they went to the baggage counter section to get their purchased items and the helmet. Then they both ride on the bike going home.

In the kitchen, Hea Bum prepared the cut letters and posted them on the wall saying, “Happy 25th wedding anniversary, we love you, mama and papa, thanks for caring and loving us.” He arranged the decorations at the entrance of their kitchen and put some pots of flowers in each corner. The favorite curtains of their mother were hanged in their window. Their delivery meals arrived and they arranged them at the top of their dining table. In a couple of minutes, Jan Lee and Shin Ki arrived and Jim quickly meets them at the door. Jim carried his gift inside the kitchen and covered it with a cloth. They parked their bike and car at the neighbor's yard so that their parents will think they are out. They quickly blow some air into the balloons and let them attached to the ceiling, the cake is elevated at the table so that their mother could easily notice it. The twin Jim and Jan hold a popper each one of them on both sides then they locked the door and throw the keys at the porch.

A few moments later, the couple decided to go back home. A lot of sweat coming out of their body. They feel relaxed and refreshed as they enjoy their tour from the garden. As they walk in the pathway directly in front of their house they were talking about their kids and their future. When they reached the porch, they noticed that the house is silent. The husband holds the doorknob to open it but it's locked. When the wife followed his husband to check what is going on she trump on the key. Then they asked one another.

“What is going on here?” the wife told the husband while giving him the keys.

“I don’t know maybe they are out celebrating our wedding anniversary,” the husband told the wife, “Alright, let’s go inside and change our clothes,” he added.

When they were about to enter the kitchen to drink cold water and opens the door, suddenly a sound of poppers blows and the assortments of confetti scattered on the floor together with a loud voice saying, “Surprise.”
