What does he want?

“I’m not afraid of you, Selena. Do your worst.”

Selena lunged at her, nails aimed like claws. Elena barely dodged, feeling a sting as Selena’s nails grazed her neck.

She swung back, catching Selena off guard with a solid slap that echoed through the hallway.

“You’re gonna regret that,” Selena hissed, her eyes narrowing.

Selena lashed out, grabbing a handful of Elena’s hair and yanking hard.

Elena gasped in pain but quickly retaliated, kneeing Selena in the stomach.

Selena doubled over, but she wasn’t done yet. She clawed at Elena’s face, managing to scratch her cheek before Elena shoved her away, sending Selena stumbling into a nearby table, knocking over a vase that shattered on the floor.

The sound of glass breaking drew attention, and a crowd began to gather.

Seeing the opportunity,Selena started to wail. “Help! Someone, please! Elena’s gone crazy!”

Elena stood there, breathless and furious, as Selena put on a show, clutching her stomach and feigning pain. “She attacked me! Out of nowhere!”

Kael stormed in, his eyes blazing with anger. “What the hell is going on here?”

He asked, looking at the mess they were in and the mess they had created.

Selena immediately tried to play innocent, her tone sugary sweet. “Kael, I mean Alpha, Elena just…”

“Shut it, Selena!” Kael barked, his gaze shifting to Elena. His eyes softened, but there was a fire burning behind them.

“Are you okay?”

Elena nodded, but her heart was racing for an entirely different reason now. The intensity in Kael’s eyes was almost too much to bear.

“She’s lying,” Elena said, her voice shaking with anger. “She started it.”

Kael didn’t need convincing. He stepped between the two women, his stance protective. “Everyone, clear out,” he ordered, his voice brooking no argument. “Show’s over.”

The crowd dispersed reluctantly, leaving Kael, Elena, and Selena alone.

Kael turned to Selena, his expression cold. “Get out, Selena. Now.”

Selena’s face twisted in rage, but she stomped away, not daring to defy him further.

As she disappeared around the corner, Kael stepped closer to Elena, his expression a mix of concern and something darker, more primal.

“Did she hurt you?” he asked, his voice softer but still tinged with that edge.

“I’m fine,” Elena replied, but she couldn’t ignore the electric tension between them.

“Come with me,” Kael said, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. He took her hand and led her towards his office, his grip firm but gentle.

Once inside, he switched on the lights and turned to face her, his eyes blazing with intensity.

“Let me see,” he murmured, gently tilting her chin up to examine the scratch on her cheek. His touch was tender, but the fire in his eyes was furthest away from that. “You shouldn’t have to deal with this shit.”

Elena’s breath hitched, her pulse quickening. “Kael, what are you doing?” His hands grazed over the wound on her neck.

“I can’t help it,” he confessed, his voice raw. “I’ve missed you so damn much, Elena.”

Before she could protest, his lips were on hers, hot and demanding. Elena melted into him, the world around them fading away.

His hands roamed her body, igniting a fire wherever they touched. Elena felt herself being backed up against his desk, her mind spinning with desire.

“Kael,” she gasped as he trailed kisses down her neck, his hands slipping under her shirt.

“We shouldn’t,” she whispered, even as her body betrayed her, leaning into him.

“Tell me to stop,” Kael challenged, his voice a seductive growl. “Tell me you don’t want this.”

“I …I can’t,” she admitted after a gulp, her voice barely a whisper.

That was all the encouragement Kael needed. His lips crashed onto hers with a ferocity that left her breathless.

His hands squeezed her body, setting all her senses on fire. Elena’s fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer as their kisses grew more heated.

But just as Kael was about to lose himself in the moment, the door burst open.

Leo stood there with a few more men. “Alpha Kael, we’ve got a situation.”

Kael pulled away, his breathing ragged, his eyes dark with frustration and unfulfilled desire. “What is it, Leo?” Leo hesitated, glancing between Kael and Elena. “It’s about the … Alpha… Can we talk in private? ”

Kael nodded, his expression hardening. “I’ll be right there.”

Leo left, closing the door behind him. Kael turned back to Elena, his eyes filled with a mix of regret and longing.

“This isn’t over,” he promised, his voice rough. “But right now, I need to deal with this. Stay close, Elena. I need you safe.”

Elena seemed lost. She seemed to be the only one who had no clue what was going on. Kael seemed to understand.

“ I will explain like I promised! You need to give me that time! ”

With that, he pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead before turning and striding away, leaving Elena standing there, her mind spinning with more questions and her body yearning for more.
