MIKE

For our peace of mind, Kevin left, thundering louder than an angry cloud in a thunderstorm. We knew he hadn’t given up, but was preparing his next move, which was going to be hard and powerful.

I wasn’t afraid because I was much stronger now, but I wasn’t indifferent either. I had to protect Emily at all costs.

After Kevin left and she felt liberated, I saw her more serene than ever. Her eyes sparkled as if they were two precious pearls paired with a smile so natural, her lips so sensual.

“I’d like to go change and take a shower. Then maybe we can heat a party,” she said good-naturedly.

“I like that idea,” Olivia added.

She gracefully walked away from us. I thought I saw the most wonderfully walked, sexiest body I had ever seen. Tight pants showed off her ass curves and perfect hips. The blistering heat clouded my thinking. The only thing I could think about was the hotness of her mouth and her passionate, naked body lost in my burning arms.

MIKE“I feel great too!” she replied, smiling.I would have revealed what I was dreaming about, but something was holding me back for the moment. It’s just that I was extremely stubborn that day and couldn’t for a moment listen to my inner voice that was asking me to calm down and pay attention.“I was thinking about what our life would be like as a couple. Being a family and living here in a cottage by the sea.”I watched as her cheeks flushed red, resembling two blooming peonies. She gave me a smile that I perceived as warm and friendly.“That would be lovely. When I write, you take care of the house and when you sing, I take care of the house. And in the evening we’ll have dinner by moonlight.”Her response stunned me. It simply stuck with me. She dropped the palette from my hand with which we put the meat on the plate, at which point she started laughing. She came over and gave me a quick kiss, much too quick for me, then walked into the house.“I’ll get the cutlery.” She shouted

  • Shadows of the Past   WOMAN OF MY DREAMS

MIKEThe fantasy I was in kept me from seeing her when she woke up. Her eyes were wide and her face was tight with panic. She jumped out of bed. She was ready to scream when, in a diffuse beam of light, she glimpsed my face. She froze as if she were a stone pillar. She was so tender, like a blooming rose that gave off the sweetest smell I’d ever encountered. It was empty. Completely naked. She had small and vibrant red lips. Her perfectly round breasts with ruby nipples puckered when my gaze passed over them. Her breasts were also completely hairless. The tips of her inner lips peeked shyly out of the vertical cleft. The sweet dew of feminine arousal shone delicately over them.I sized her up with my eyes a few times until our gazes met and I saw she remained mesmerized. It was a moment I had to use to my advantage.I approached her gently, without scaring her. I stopped at such a close distance that I could smell her graceful scent that resembled an imperial lily.My quickened breath

  • Shadows of the Past   HIS AND HIS ALONE

EMILYCould I describe in words what this night was like? It was like the sunrise on a spring day, shyly embracing the land, still numb from the harsh winter since dawn. I was afraid to give myself to a stranger, who, without asking my permission, stole my heart, my dreams and my future. I knew he loved me because I could see in his eyes the flame of love burning with mad passion. But I was afraid to let myself be loved and pampered, as he said. The way he made me feel was as hot as a hot summer day, but tender as the petals of a rose. The powerful thrill that shot through my whole body made me tremble from every joint. It was new, but so wonderful. I felt as if I had touched the impossible or discovered the infinite.I didn’t think there were men who could make a woman feel more treasured than the most important treasure. But look, I was wrong. That man was real, and he only wanted me. Do I deserve such luck? It didn’t even matter now. What mattered was that Mike was mine, and I was

  • Shadows of the Past   WHAT IS LOVE LIKE?

EMILYI hurried outside with the thought of giving Mike a sweet kiss. My intention was to repay him for his kind gesture, and I believed that the idea I had come up with was the most wonderful way to do so, but my plans were thwarted when I encountered Olivia on the way. I kept looking for Mike, hoping to see him in the house, but no sign of him.“Calm down, my dear. He won’t let you. He’s just gone to help a friend. She called him and said it was urgent. Initially, he expressed the intention of notifying you himself, but I intervened and offered to communicate with you instead. He thanked me and left. He even made us breakfast.”In a second, all joy turned to disappointment. A strange feeling came over me. I don’t know why, but I had a feeling that something was going to happen. Only my heart was telling me it wasn’t good. I grabbed my cup of coffee and retreated to one of the lounge chairs.“Hon, he will come soon. Really! Don’t be sad. She loves you!” said Olivia, trying to reassur

KEVINThe amounts of money the two were transferring into my accounts were small enough to be inconspicuous. You know what they say about the small log upsetting the big cart? That’s how it was here. Those small amounts bankrupted the company. By the time Luiza brought in an expert, it was too late to do anything. All the blame fell on the accountant, and Eddy got off scot-free. All the signatures were the accountants. He was nowhere to be found. Plus, Luiza trusted him. She knew how to gain his trust and blindly believed him. When she finally realized that bankruptcy was her only way out, Eddy stepped in to offer his help. He informed her about me and how there was a potential to get the funds for recovery with no risk of a public scandal that might harm the reputation of the company.Without a second thought, she accepted our offer, and we fooled her once again. We now had her in our grasp with the contract we signed. She had to pay me back the total amount within two months, which

  • Shadows of the Past   GETTING OUT

EMILYI was watching the images Kevin had thrown at me in bed so nonchalantly and I felt like the entire world fell apart in a second. I perceived those images as if they were executioners trained to rip my heart into a thousand pieces and shatter my body into tiny particles.“What are these? Where did you get them?” I yelled at him.“I have my own methods,” he replied.I don’t think I’ve ever felt a greater pain than that. After a magical night and morning in which I fell that my life made sense behold, fate was crueler than I thought and dealt me the most painful blow. Something I never expected. What I was most afraid of this happened and it hurts so bad!“I don’t think that’s true! Mind!” I screamed again. “Get out of my room!”I could feel the tears fighting their way out, only something inside me was blocking them. My subconscious was screaming as loud as it could, “You’ve cried enough! Enough! Be strong, come on, head up!” “You know I’m not lying! Just see for yourself th

MIKEI was like a madman looking all over the house for Emily. When I saw Kevin, I was sure he’d done something to her. If Olivia hadn’t come in, I’d have kicked his ass.“Hey! You’re gonna wreck the entire house! What the hell is wrong with you people?” she yelled from the doorway of the room, but who had ears to hear her? “Mike! Stop it!” she yelled again in an even louder voice.Seeing that I wasn’t acting, she came and tried to break us up. Luckily I saw her in time, otherwise the fist that was dedicated to Kevin was coming straight for her face. “God, how can I hit a woman?”“You’re crazy! I almost hit you.” I yelled at her.“You’re crazy. You’re acting like a raving lunatic. What the hell happened to you?”“Where’s Emily? She’s nowhere to be found.”“Did you search the beach?”“I’ve been looking like a lunatic everywhere. She’s nowhere to be found. I’m sure he did something to her.”“Kevin, you’d better come clean. • Shadows of the Past    DO YOU BELIEVE ME?

MIKEI opened the app I’ve only used once before, when it was installed by my specialist to explain everything he could. I could have sworn I would never need it again. When I saw my brother, I foolishly believed that he had accomplished everything he had set out to do and that he would stop bothering me once he saw me in a vulnerable state. But I didn’t consider that I was about to fall in love with his wife.I felt like a newborn baby who wanted to explore the world, but was completely lost without a mother... that was me without Emily. The uncertainty killed me. I tried to show Olivia that I knew what I was doing, but to be honest, I was completely lost. My thoughts turned to Emily and the misconceptions she had about me at the time. Now was not the time to play with technology. It was like something new to me. “Are you going to give it to me or do you want to sit here all day?” asked Olivia seriously.“Yes! I’m not in the mood for that right now.” She seemed to know what she

EMILYI still couldn’t believe everything we had experienced on the last day. It was all worth writing. I was sure it would make a wonderful book. A novel to write about my life story. It was unbelievable. Susan ruined my life, and she saved it. I was home because of her. Why had she sacrificed her life for us?“Why did you do that?” I finally asked her.“What did I do?” she asked me defiantly.“Why did you save me? You know you won’t have a quiet life with Kevin now.”“I won’t have a quiet life, anyway. My parents don’t want to see me and he’s with Carla. He’s sick of me. Besides, Carla’s willing to sacrifice even more than I have. She broke into the house of Kevin’s worst enemy just to get information for him,” she told me. “I also have pictures of her, Luke and other rivals of Kevin’s in various compromising situations and poses. MIKEI rushed over and pulled Eddy’s body off Emily. She was terrified! The crying and panic was preventing her from breathing normally. Her heart was pounding like crazy. She grabbed her torn dress and clutched it to her chest. She didn’t realize it was me next to her and not someone else. What had that bastard done to her?I tried to pick her up, but she pulled away. She was still in shock. She couldn’t realize I was there.“Baby, it’s me, Mike. You’re safe now.”She looked at me with wide eyes. When she realized I was indeed beside her, she released the wellspring of tears and threw herself into my arms.“We have to hurry. If Kevin comes back, it won’t be good for us,” Susan said from the doorway of the room.I picked Emily up and followed Susan. She knew how to sneak out of sight of Kevin’s bodyguards. The house was empty, so we went through quickly. We went down to the garage and got into a roomy station wagon. Susan was in front of the wheel and Emily and I climbed into the trun

EMILY“Maybe? Have you checked to see if we’re siblings?” I asked in a nonchalant tone. I wanted to be stronger than Kevin could have ever imagined.I didn’t want to continue the conversation. I ran for the door, wanting to leave the room, but Kevin grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Eddy quickly came up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. He glared at him, then turned back to me.“Stay here until I finish everything I have to say. Don’t you ever dare let me speak alone again. Besides, you’re not going anywhere. Here you’ll rot. This will be your grave,” he screamed.“I...” I was more afraid than ever, but not for myself but for what he was about to say.“I always thought you were his daughter. I took a DNA test to confirm it and that’s when I relieved myself.”“Then what do you want from me? I’m not the fruit of sin. I’m not your sister.”“You are not the fruit of sin, but you are the fruit of my childhood torment. I swore I would make you mine and give you the life I lived be

I promise I’ll talk Olivia into destroying your file,” I tried to convince him, hoping I could talk him down.“And you want me to believe you?” He asked harshly.“I’m not like you! I don’t lie!” I replied curtly.“Emily, you’re mine and you’re mine forever, whether you like it,” he continued in a calm tone.“You can do whatever you want with me, but leave them alone. Don’t touch them, they don’t answer to me,” I replied just as dryly.“Wow! Little princess claws out! My dear, you are in no position to negotiate or threaten. I remind you that you are in my territory. One command and you’re dead,” he replied sadistically.“Kevin, I’m not scared of you and you know it,” I said fiercely.“You really don’t know how to lie. • Shadows of the Past    BROKEN PROMISES

EMILYI was afraid, more afraid than ever. Kevin was so unpredictable. He proved to be more dangerous than anyone else. He came back from the dead and was ready to destroy us all. I didn’t know what would happen to me there. In the end, it didn’t matter what happened to me. All I cared about was the safety of the people I loved. He promised Mike’s release if I stood by him. I wanted peace for everyone. My life was meaningless without Mike. The closer I got to the meeting place, the harder my heart pounded. I could feel it not in my chest where it belonged, but it was rising into my throat in a big, painful lump that was sapping my strength. In front of Menfail Park, a black car with tinted windows waited for me, just as the message had said. I looked around before opening the back door and seeing that there were no familiar eyes, I quickly got in.To my surprise, there was only a driver in the car who didn’t even say hello. As soon as I got in, I got another text message:“This phone

  • Shadows of the Past   YOU ARE A BASTARD!

MIKECouldn’t believe that this bastard has so many lives, like a damn cat. I hated him. I even came to hate him more than anything else in the world. What had I done wrong to want him to see me destroyed? He kidnapped my wife and my unborn child, even though I left and withdrew from his life. I left him everything, but it still wasn’t right. What else did he want? Emily was mine. I wouldn’t leave her to anyone. I was fighting for her, as I wasn’t willing to lose her, too. Mary caused me enough pain. Then, when I saw Emily lifeless, it was cruel.I knew for sure where he was hiding, and I wasn’t afraid of him or his goons. Rather than live a panic-stricken life, then fight with my life. I was doing it for the woman I loved and for myself. I owed myself, Mary, and Emily.I raced at top speed toward the house where the bastard was holed up. I felt my blood boiling and my heart pounding with the rage I felt. When I got there, I burst through the gate, oblivious to the guards running afte

  • Shadows of the Past    I'LL KILL HIM!

EmilyAs I stepped into the driveway in front of the house, my emotions overwhelmed me. I felt like I saw Kevin in front of me with every step. I even felt like I heard him.“I should have taken Olivia up on her offer to stay at Frank’s,” I thought angrily to myself. At Olivia’s wedding, I felt like all that wound had healed, but I realized there was still a flame smoldering in the depths of my heart.Mike got to know me very well and realized right away that the past broke my peace. I feared for a second that I might be overcome with jealousy, but I soon realized that Mike was not that kind of man. To my relief, Mike realized he was the only one I loved, but that the wounds of the past still hurt. Still, he knew, or at least I hoped he knew, that no one and nothing had any place between us. I only wanted him in my life!I opened the door carefully, as I had the wedding night scene in my eyes and in my ears. I could hear, like a melody on repeat, Kevin’s words that I had heard when I

  • Shadows of the Past   I'LL TAKE THAT RISK

KEVINI wish I could have seen my idiot brother’s face when Eddy shot his girlfriend. Actually, his mistress was because she was still my wife.“Honey, please don’t get up. You’re still in a delicate state.” I hated being nagged, especially by Susan. She’d always been a nag who thought by throwing herself on my bed she’d have me in her clutches like a puppy. Except her plans didn’t coincide with mine, so I quickly chased her away. “You must be cautious, as you’re still weak. You’ve had a very serious accident and you haven’t fully recovered,” she continued, rousing me from my reverie.“Leave me! Get lost!” I yelled at her.“But ....” she tried to apologize in a trembling voice. I honestly had more important things to do than listen to her.“What don’t you get? I said leave!” I yelled at her again.“Kevin!” she said and walked closer to me. She tried to stroke my cheek, but I got so annoyed that I hit her across the face with all my strength. She looked at me with wide, questioning eye

  • Shadows of the Past   FINALLY GOING HOME

Emily“Thanks for everything, baby. I loved the concert so much and especially the dedication you gave me,” I told her flushed.“What? Were you still in a coma?” he asked, surprised.“I don’t know how to explain, but I could hear everything. I wanted to wake up, but something was drawing me into a distant, pure world, something dreamlike. It felt so good there, but I was sad about your suffering. I don’t know if it was all real or just dreams, but I felt present in two totally different worlds,” I tried to explain.Mike smiled gently. He struck my cheek, then lifted my left hand and kissed it. The engagement ring gleamed beautifully in the beating sunlight that streamed nonchalantly in through the large parlor window.“Never mind what it was. You’re here with me now and that’s the most important thing right now. I love you infinitely wonderful woman!” he told me.His daily care helped me recover faster than the doctors expected. They always said that love works wonders, and that I was
