Chapter 64

Samantha went to work the next day as if nothing happened. The intimate brush of the mind link when she cut off from Xavier was still a mystery for her to resolve. Still, she forwent that situation as Samantha was conversing with Stella about Shadow Pack ancestry.

Perhaps, she was talking too much about it that it was not good for her to expose the pack to a virtual stranger. Even if Xavier’s intention was clear—Stella Canali was his intended bride and mate.

Plus, Samantha had been inviting Stella to come to the Folk Festival that will be held tomorrow in the town square. It was an occasional festival that helped the locals and tourists to mingle around and build connections.

It was one of the marketing strategies to ensure that the locals of Paphos would thrive even though they were a small community.

“Forget all the things that I said and I hope you will consider coming to the Folk Festival tomorrow evening. I will see you then,”

Samantha sighed for she was sure that her reclusive brother must be in his cave as Sebastian loved to spend some time there for alone time—meaning that he needed to calm down his wolf for a while. It helped him to think and figure out any problems that might be stuck in his head since Sebastian was the acknowledged doctor of the Shadow Pack.Even though Samantha didn’t know what Sebastian was thinking the whole time, she couldn’t say that her brother had been thinking about his mate for she didn’t smell anyone’s scent on him. Thus, she can only conclude that maybe it was something that was related to the pack—be it medical or law aspects of the problem. After the lights had lit up the living room of their house, Samantha went to the window as she was looking outside. Her garnet eyes were wide, searching for any movement that triggered her earlier. There was no movement among the darkened shrubbery as she exhaled a deep breath.

Zack was looking at Samantha—his undefined mate—as she was drawing the curtains close, blocking his view from tracking her with his blue eyes inside the house. Zane snarled inside him, making it possible for Zack to control Zane when his wolf was close to the surface to claim what he was destined to have.‘Mine! Claim her, take her somewhere secluded, and have our ways with her,’ Zane suggested as Zack scowled at his darker thoughts.‘You know we cannot do that. We cannot even enter their house as far as we’re concerned, Zane. Plus, have you forgotten that she rejected us two days ago?’ Zack reminded Zane about Samantha’s determination to reject their bonds. Zane snarled again.‘As if I care about the formalities, little boy. You know better than I am that you are suppressing your inner rage and fury, parading yourself as the submissive, obedient little Omega that you are not,’

A couple of weeks later, Zack had infused himself into the role of acting Beta. It was not that hard once he had the confidence to do it. Plus, Xavier had been encouraging him to be a leader and most of the members of Shadow Pack listened when he had to say about something that concerned the pack’s lives. However, Zack did not make any progress toward having a chance with Samantha for a one-on-one conversation if it meant that he would be with his mate for some alone time and clear the air between them.Zane purred at the thought of Samantha with her waist-long brunette hair and eyes like the fire that concealed inside her. Zack couldn’t think of anything else other than her sweet strawberry scent. It was the only thing that kept him awake at night—aching and lonely in his bed.Her scent was so alluring for Zane that Zack almost lost control every time he walked around the pack and that elusive scent enveloped him. Zack knew tha

“Ugh, I don’t even know why I bother to come along to this festival. It’s not like it’s something I can benefit from,” Samantha said, as her best friend, a human named Karisa Papadopoulos, chuckled lowly beside her.She was the daughter of a carpenter who ordered the lumber from her village, and Samantha had met her when she was working at the famous café.“Oh, come on, Sam. This would be fun. And I heard that there was this belief that if you go to the folk festival, you might find the one,” Karisa said before Samantha snorted. Her best friend was a hopeless romantic, and she got by with her obsession with a chance meeting that would lead to marriage.“Just so you know, I am not thinking of finding the one here. I already have too much on my plate,” Samantha retorted before recalling her reclusive brother, Sebastian, a doctor, an officiator, and an ultimatum to consid

“It’s a nice pleasure to do business with you then, Mr. Papadopoulos,” Zack said before he was shaking hands with the old man. He was being pleasant with the new price that Zack was asking from him and did not even have a complaint about it.This was the best job he could ever have in his life.Zack left the premises before he walked away with the fat check that he promised Xavier that he would get today. And he finally did it. He got the money that was being denied for so long as Zack was staring at the check.Damn, I am good, he mused before he slipped the check away and turned to look at the road that was in front of him.Zack told his team to get home early and that he would wrap things up that day before he spotted the familiar brunette walking outside of the famous café where Xavier found his true mate.Samantha Lykos, the Ultima’s little sister and his destined one.Zack had been wondering about

Samantha was on her way home as usual after her shift had ended at the family-owned café where she worked in the town. She walked through the trail and she felt another presence. However, she didn’t give a damn about it for her body was exhausted and Samantha wanted to be home as quickly as possible. It was early evening, and the chilly breeze was greeting her when Samantha’s eyes were wandering around the woods. There was nothing there, she knew and she didn’t have to be afraid when she walked alone. However, Samantha couldn’t brush off the thought and felt like she was being followed by something—or rather by someone.“Who’s there?” Samantha asked as her garnet eyes were looking around. She didn’t see any movement in the darkened forest around her. However, she could sense there was another presence nearby. It was one of the perks of being an Ultima for Samantha was able to sense the living thing a

Samantha was panting when Zack was tracing wet kisses on her jaws and throat. She breathed in his scent which smelled like the ocean breeze. Samantha fucking loved it so much and it was her favorite scent ever since.“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to kiss you, Sam,” Zack whispered as he stared into her eyes. Samantha was panting again, arching her back to him. Zack kissed her again, claiming her lips like he owned it.This time, his hands had found their way to her ample breasts. Samantha moaned when Zack kneaded them as she was gripping his hair.Samantha moaned, angling her neck for better access. Zack took her invitation delightedly as Samantha was thrusting her hips to mold with his. She could sense his erection as Zack groaned at their contact. Even though they were clothed to the fullest, Samantha and Zack could still feel the effect of their heated contact through the clothes.“God, I need you, Sam.

After the hurt that he felt, Zack ran away. He shifted when he was out of Samantha’s eyesight. Zane howled inside his heart, knowing the rejection by their mate was hurting him as well as Zack’s heart. The Moon Goddess had given three chances for Zack to convince them that Samantha could accept him but the result was not what he could comprehend that someday, Zack would be rejected by his destined one, his fated mate.My mate, Zack mused as he was running on all fours through the darkened forest. He laughed bitterly, taking in the chilly breeze that hit his face as Zane howled into the night sky. Zack knew that their rejection was not completed for it was only Samantha who did the rejection whereas he…Zack shook his head, prowling through the darkened forest. His paws were crushing the dried leaves on the ground, sending a loam into the air. Zack was pushing himself as he didn’t want to think about the rejection that was play

Zack shook his head, trying to diminish the thought of claiming a woman who was not Samantha—his destined, fated mate. Zack howled once more before he took off running down the cliff and went toward the distant, gleaming small town. The run was excellent for his sanity as Zack took in a deep breath. His nostrils picked up the scent of the pine forest as his acute hearing was listening to the cacophony of the darkened forest. Small rodents were running around as owls were screeching against the night. It was a beautiful night with the full moon in sight, clearing the foggy forest by providing small illumination upon the small trail that Zack was trotting on all fours.Zack wished that he had someone by his side that night for it was such a waste that he was alone there in the foggy, darkened pine forest. He wanted Samantha to be there by his side. However, she refused Zack as her mate thus leaving Zack trotting down the small trail alone on his own

After his confrontation with Samantha, Zack was running through the woods. He shifted on the run—as he had been practicing since Zack was eighteen—and tore away all his clothes as Zane snarled in his head.’Foolish girl! How dare she defy us after everything that we had done for the community?!’ Zane growled as Zack ran through the darkened forest. The moon was full as the shadows were weaving through the pine trees. Zack rolled his eyes at Zane’s temperament.’Relax, will you? Everything will come to an end. You’ll see,’ he stated as Zack turned around to run toward the small trail that would lead him back to his sanctuary. The very sanctuary that he had renovated with his mate in mind.’So, you do have a plan after all, little boy. You’re intriguing me to play it cool,’ Zane purred as Zack chuckled softly through their mind link.’Of course and

Samantha was sitting at the table while Marina gave her a cup of hot tea. She smiled, thanking Marina for the gesture. Marina smiled and pushed some biscuits that she put on the plate toward Samantha before she walked up to Caleb. Both of them were whispering at each other. Caleb nodded, whispering into her ear as Marina blushed. She cleared her throat as Caleb smirked, kissing his wife and Marina was out of the main living room.“Now that we settled in, tell me what happened a month ago, Sam,” Caleb asked as his amber eyes were focused on her face. Samantha arched her eyebrow.“A month ago? You need to be more specific than that, Caleb. At what time or any event that I attended a month ago that you are interested in knowing more about?” she asked, sipping her hot tea as Samantha was looking at the ultimate trio. Caleb crossed his arms, frowning before Xavier took over the conversation.“The night of the Folk Festival a month

It had been a few weeks since Samantha had seen her rejected mate, Zack, in the flash. She didn’t know what happened to him after he disappeared into the woods that night during the Folk Festival but she was sure that Zack hadn’t gone home after he took off.How could he be so irresponsible, taking off like that when we’re supposed to be discussing things?! Samantha mused as she was locking the coffee machine into place. Her mood swings had seen better days and she could compare herself to be as brooding as her brother these days.Ugh, I hate it when Isa’s right, she pondered as Samantha bit her lower lip. I mean, how come I was affected by Zack’s disappearance?! He was the one who kissed me and then disappeared into thin air without telling me a word. Okay, frankly speaking, he took off and left me hanging in the dark, Samantha sighed as she took the coffee cups that the customers ordered and Scarlet purred insi

As if sensing her discomfort, Zack smirked, stepping closer as his ocean breeze scent hit Samantha’s nostrils. She took a deep breath, forging his distinctive scent inside her chest for she knew she would never see him again if Zack truly found someone else that saw him for who he was.Where Samantha failed to do so because of her insecurity and fear of what the future might hold if she accepted Zack as her mate.‘But you don’t know if Ian is against it or not. You’re concluding by your judgment, Red,’ Scarlet warned her as Samantha pushed her wolf away from her mind.“I hope you will find her then, Adamos,” Samantha said through her gritted teeth. Her heart was beating fast, feeling the golden opportunity at her once-in-a-lifetime chance at love. However, the stubborn streak inside Samantha was still denying her feelings for him.“Hmm,” Zack replied as his hand squeezed Sama

‘What the hell is wrong with your human friend? Didn’t she read the cues that I don’t want to talk to her?’ Sebastian asked as Samantha shrugged through their mind link.‘I don’t know, brother. Maybe you need to work on your social skills if you wish to keep Isa around, from what I can sense here,’ Samantha taunted him as Sebastian glared at her. Samantha hid her smirk.“Oh! So, you’re Sam’s brother.” Karisa said excitedly as she clapped her hand.“I’ve heard a lot about you from her. I’m not going to lie to you but Sam promised me that she would come with me to this festival. I thought you didn’t come to this kind of festival,” she added as Karisa batted her lashes. Sebastian scoffed at her, posing his brooding mood upon Karisa. However, her best friend ignored him as she smiled sweetly at him. Then, Sebastian turned to lo

Zack couldn’t believe it. The Folk Festival was more lively and chaotic than what he heard when Arthur described it to him. Perhaps, he might need to experience it himself so that Zack can be content with it—and not complain about it later. He was walking around when Zack smelled that elusive strawberry scent that he had been dying to chase. It was not far from where he stood as Zack was looking around.Smirking, Zane purred through their mind link when Zack thought that he wanted to track Samantha down and get some alone time with her. Maybe, Zack could persuade Samantha that their mating bond was not a mistake from the Moon Goddess.‘Mine,’ Zane purred. Zack rolled his eyes at that thought. Seriously, his wolf needed to chill the fuck out so that Zack could concentrate on how to get Samantha to like—and maybe, love—him as her beloved mate until death did them part.’We have to claim her. Zachary Adamos was the reason why Samantha couldn’t concentrate at the moment.Damn him for his charms to fill my head with them! Samantha barked as Scarlet purred.‘I miss him. Don’t you miss him for you remember everything about him?’Scarlet asked as Samantha scowled.“Woah! Who woke you up on the wrong side of the bed today?” Karisa asked, arching her eyebrows as Samantha looked up to her best friend.“Huh? What are you talking about?” Samantha asked as she was stacking the plates on the cabinets. Karisa gestured her hand at her face.“Your face, Sam. It tells me everything without even trying. Samantha was looking around the café as the patrons buzzed around in the family-owned café. Then, she turned to look outside the window, staring out into the distance. She saw another lumber delivery from Shadow Pack to the old man Mr. Papadopoulos but she didn’t see her mate—her rejected mate, Zack. She bit her lower lip, knowing fully well that Zack was always the one who made sure the delivery went smoothly and got the money that was equivalent to the quality of the lumber that they delivered. However, that day at that moment, Samantha saw his brother, Arthur the Gamma, was making sure of that happening for the greater good of the pack.“What are you staring at, Sam?” Karisa asked her, curious why her best friend was not focusing on her work. Samantha turned her head, looking at Karisa. She smiled at her best friend as Karisa arched her eyebrow. She was the daughter of Mr. Papadopoulos, the carpenter who m
