Well, the answer could be reflected in the life of a great Romantist who lived in the Elizabethan era, Samuel Thomas Coleridge. In one of his works, a poem titled 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner'. In it he tried to explain how nature reacts in response to the deeds of human. To extend his emphasis he made use of heavy wind causing great disaster to a bunch of sailors, climate and weather change which froze them, waters filled with slimy creatures therefore making it dangerous for consumption, all because of a sin they committed. You use your mind first, then your body responds and acts on it. When facing a vampire, especially an armed human, they won't attack in the front because you got it covered. They get lost out of sight then attack where you're exactly not looking. So you gotta learn how to hear beyond the whispers of the wind, you wait patiently and listen to the breaking of the wind when they roam around. Therefore you get their location and side of attack then quickly swing your weapon at the direction.
