Chapter 8

In the car, Ethan loosened his tie while fiddling with his phone. He seemed bothered by something but didn't say anything.

Through the rearview mirror, the driver noticed his boss's irritation and decided to ask, "Is something wrong, sir?"

"No, nothing's wrong," he replied seriously but looked back with some concern.

The driver remained silent since his boss didn't like nosy people.

"Do you think the taxi will take long to pick her up?" he finally asked.

The driver gave a slight smile after discovering the reason for his boss's discomfort. "Well, we're more than 40 minutes from the city center; the taxi might take a while since this place is more isolated, and some drivers cancel the ride because of the time."

"Do you think she won't be able to get home anytime soon?" he asked.

"I don't think so."

Once again, Ethan shifted uncomfortably in the car seat, and Jeremy didn't miss the opportunity to say, "We're still close, sir. If you want, we can go back to pick her up."
