Author's note: This story is a work of fiction.
It's an ordinary Sunday evening in Minnesota, USA. At a small playground, an 8 year old boy is sitting on the bench while eating some chocolate chip cookies his mom had packed him from home. The little boy starts observing the playground which is pretty quiet today, looking for any sign of his friend who promised to meet him for their final playdate before he has to go to Paris, France tomorrow morning. He'll be staying there for a few years regarding his dad's business.Where is she? The boy thought. He finished his chocolate chip cookie and decides to save the rest for later. He closed the small lunch box on his lap with the remaining steamed buns inside. He turns his head to his left to open his backpack which he had placed next to him. He opens the zipper and puts the lunch box back inside. He starts to think if she had forgotten about their playdate. It's a good thing his home is quite near to the playground, or else his mother wouldn't be happy knowing if he hadn't been home before dinner time. He thought about observing the playground one last time for any sign of his friend, before going back home since his parents wouldn't want him to stay out for too long, knowing that they have to catch a flight tomorrow morning.Just as the young boy starts to lose hope, he sees a young girl running to the playground from a far. She looked like she is around his age, and had on a frilly white dress and a white ribbon tied on her gorgeous brunette hair. The young boy couldn't help to form a small smile as he sees his friend running to his direction."Jack! I'm so sorry, I'm late," says the young girl as she catches her breath after running."It's ok, Rachel," says the young boy, Jack. He pulls his backpack aside so the young girl could take a seat. Rachel takes a seat beside Jack, with his backpack now being placed in between them. Jack opens the zipper of his backpack and takes out his lunchbox with the chocolate chip cookies."Would you like some cookies?" ask Jack as he hands the lunch box to Rachel.Rachel smiles at him before taking one cookie from the lunch box. "Sure. Thank you, Jack."Rachel starts eating the cookie as Jack stares at his friend with a small smile. There was something different about her today. In his mind, she looked like a princess in the frilly white dress."I like your dress. It's very nice," says Jack as he stares at Rachel who had just finished eating her chocolate chip cookie."Thank you, Jack. My mom made me wear this all morning," says Rachel before she turns her head down to see the dress she's wearing. Even though the dress looks really pretty, yet she didn't feel so good wearing it at the moment. "She got married to Mr Daniel this morning. Now we are officially living together."Jack's small smile soon fades after he heard what Rachel had just said. He didn't know Rachel's mom was getting married today. He did heard from Rachel that her mom had been seeing a guy she referred to as "Mr Daniel" for the last 6 months, but he didn't know today would be their wedding day.Rachel continues to stare down, avoiding any eye contact with Jack. Just when Jack was about to cheer her up, she turns her head up to face Jack."I wish I could go with you to Paris," says Rachel with a sad tone. "But I don't think my mom would allow me," she turns her head down. "I love my mom, but I don't know who Mr Daniel is. Even though I've seen him everyday since we started living together two months ago, yet I still feel as if he's a stranger."Jack turns his head down at the thought of him not being able to see his best friend anymore after he goes to Paris. He really wish he could take her along with him. He didn't want his best friend to be alone, especially knowing that she doesn't have any other friends besides him. After a moment of silence, Jack gets up from the bench and turns to look at Rachel who is still sitting while staring at the ground. He reach out his hand to her, making her look up to him."Rachel, I want to return to Minnesota and look for you when I grow up," says Jack. "After that, we can play together again."Rachel stares into Jack's eyes as she slowly starts to form a small smile. "Really? You promise?""Yes. I promise to return to Minnesota and look for you when I grow up," says Jack.Hearing those words made Rachel feel happy inside. She takes the blonde hair boy's hand and gets up from the bench."Then I will wait for you to come back," says Rachel as she hold Yangyang's hand.Jack's smile grew wider as he stare into Rachel's hazel eyes with happiness. "Ok. Now, let's make this the best playdate we ever had," says Jack. "Tag! You're it!" says Jack as he runs off laughting while waiting to be chase by Rachel."Hey! That's too fast. I'll get you!" says Rachel as she runs to chase Jack around the playground. They laugh their hearts out as they enjoy their playdate. The two kids continue to play in the playground for about an hour, before they realize that it's getting late, which means it's time to go home."Ah, it's almost dark now. Let's go home before our parents look for us," says Jack. "Can I walk you home, Rachel?""No thanks. It's almost late now. I don't want to get you in trouble with your parents," says Rachel."It's ok. My home is quite near to your home. I'm sure I can get back home in time," says Jack."Ok, Jack," says Rachel as she smiles at Jack. The two kids walk together to leave the playground, which is quite near to both of their homes. After 10 minutes of walking, the two kids arrive at Rachel's house."We are here," says Rachel as the two stands in front of the front door."Well, I gotta go now. Goodbye, Rachel!" says Jack as he waves at his friend."Goodbye, Jack!" says Rachel as she watches her best friend walking away from her sight.12 years later....New York City, USA...Rachel's POV...I check my backpack one last time to see if I have forgotten to bring anything.Perfect. I thought at the sight of everything I needed is inside the bag.I close the zipper before walking over to the mirror to check my look one last time. For today, I decided to go with a white t-shirt and some black jeans. After that, I walk downstairs. I see that my mom is the only person downstairs, since my step-father had left earlier. I say goodbye to my mom as I saw her making porridge in the kitchen. I walk outside the house and start walking to college.Weston University...I'm standing near my locker as I pull out a book that I would need for class, when I see a girl with strawberry blonde hair tied into a high ponytail running to my direction. She has an excited look on her face that made me wonder."Rachel! Good morning," says the girl with the bubbly strawberry blonde lady, Emma Parker."Good morning, Emma! So what's so exciting about today?" I ask as I give her a small smile."Well, have you seen the new transferred student?" Emma ask with excitement."No," I say before closing my locker. I didn't even know there's actually someone new around here. In a weird way, somehow hearing that there's a new transferred student gives me a vision of Jack in my mind. I start to wonder if the transferred student was actually him, yet a part of me kind of doubt that. Even though he promised me that he would return to Minnesota one day, I never really got the chance to tell him that I've moved to New York a few years after he went to Paris. It was all so unexpected since my step-dad got a new job at the time and we had to move to New York. I feel bad for him, and I still miss him so much."Well, you gotta meet him at some point. He looks hot, I even saw a group of girls staring at him from a distance," says Emma with dreamy eyes. "I actually bump into that guy this morning. His name is Alexander Morgan. He's from Ottawa, Canada."My small smile slowly fades away as I hear that it wasn't Jack. Well, I guess I wasn't wrong when I doubt that it could be him."Well, I haven't even seen this guy. Maybe I'll eventually catch a glimpse of him in class," I say to Emma as we continue to walk through the hallway. I was never interested in meeting new people since I'm not good at it. That pretty much explains why I don't have much friends."He's not as hot as me though!"I turn my head to see a familiar guy who had been following us this whole time."Morning, Darren!" says Emma."Hello pretty girls! And you, my little Rachel," says Darren in his usual flirty tone, which never fails to make me wanna puke. "So how about you go out with me this Saturday?"I roll my eyes at the sight of this player. This guy really doesn't get tired of trying to ask me out. "In your dreams, Darren. I'm busy," I say before I drag Emma away from the sight of that player. At class....I sit next to Emma during class. I was pretty much focus on today's class, when I realize that a guy had been standing next to me, asking if someone is sitting on the empty seat beside me."Excuse me, is this seat taken?"I turn my head to look at the guy standing next to me. He has brunette hair like me, along with green eyes. He had on a white t-shirt with a denim jacket, complete with black jeans and some white sneakers. I've never seen him around here before. Maybe he's the new transferred student Emma was talking about earlier."Nope," I say as I welcome him to take a seat next to me. I glance at Emma and see that she is smiling at the guy."Alex! I guess you've found your way to class," says Emma as she puts her arm around my shoulders."I'll say...this place is pretty big," says Alex as he lets out a small chuckle. His eyes then stares into me with as he smiles. "And you...what's your name?""My name is Rachel Spencer," I say with a small smile."Rachel...it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Alexander Morgan. I just transferred here from Ottawa, Canada," says Alex as he gives me a bright smile."Yes, Emma told me about you this morning. It's nice to meet you," I say as I smile back at him.A few hours later, our first class eventually comes to an end, and the three of us decides to have lunch together at the cafeteria.I eventually get to know Alex a lot more. He's actually pretty funny and humble, I think he's a cool person. After college...I walk out of the college building and wave goodbye at Emma and Alex. I look at the time on my phone."What the hell? I'm almost late!" I say to myself as I rush to a small dumpling shop not far from here for my first shift. Today's gonna be my first day at my new part time job, and hopefully everything's gonna be ok.At Cafe's Express...8 PM..."Thank you," I say as I hand the lady her takeaway.I look at the time on my phone and see that my shift has come to an end. I put my phone in my pocket and start getting ready to go home.I walk out of the small cafe and start heading home. The cafe isn't too far from my home, but it's not as near as the bubble tea shop I used to work at before moving here. I should really start pumping air into my bicycle tire so I could save more time.As I continue to walk down the street, a familiar dark figure suddenly appears from the left corner. The man was wearing a black mask and some sunglasses. He stood in silence as I stop walking at sight of him. I was ready to turn back at this moment. How does he keep finding me?I thought to myself as I turn back, hoping he won't chase me like some villains in movies. My steps became faster as I refuse to turn back to see if the guy was following me. As far I hate to say this, I had a feeling he's following me now that he knows I'm running away. So far, this is the first time I ever stood close enough with that guy to see him quite clearly, and honestly I regret it. I should have been more careful and focus on my surroundings. I didn't even know he was gonna appear from the corner. Now I have to find another job so I can avoid him for the 3rd time. I'm in trouble.I could feel myself starting to sweat as my heart starts beating faster at the thought of this creep still following me from behind, when I saw a black car suddenly stop beside me. The car door suddenly opens revealing a familiar guy inside. Wait? How in the world did he find me?"Hop in!"To be continue...Rachel's POV...I didn't have time to think about anything other than hopping inside the car and closing the door to escape the creepy stalker. The guy on the driver's seat hit the gas and rushes off out of the scene, leaving the creepy stalker standing near the dumpling shop alone."Ok, how in the world did you know I was here?" I ask the guy with curiousity."Aren't you suppose to be a little happy that I saved you from a possible criminal?" he says with a chill tone as he keeps his vision on the road.I sigh at the thought of his statement being right. Yes, I should be happy that this guy actually came at the right time to save me from that creepy stalker."I'm sorry. I should have thanked you for letting me in your car. Thank you for saving me, Alex," I say as I feel quite embarrassed."Hey! Don't sweat it. I'm glad that I was able to save you on time," says Alex.I take a glance at him who is still focus on the road. I'm still wondering how did the brunette knew where I was at th
Rachel's POV..."Oh my, it really is you," says Jack as he forms a big smile while staring into my eyes."Jack," I say as I stare into his blue eyes. I couldn't believe that I'm really standing in front of Jack right now. My childhood friend, my old best friend. After all these years, we've finally meet again, after I thought that it was impossible since I've never told him that I've moved to New York City. I'm beyond happy to see him again. He's still the same Jack knew with his youthful smile.I couldn't help but feel tears slowly starting to fill my eyes. I've missed him so much, and looking at him right now just makes me feel like I want to make up for the lost time. Without any hesitation, I pull him into a tight hug as I bury my face in his chest, slowly letting the tears run down my face. "It's you..." I say in a soft tone as the tears continue to run.Jack hugs me tightly as I got lost in his embrace. "Rachel," he says with a soft tone. "I miss you..""I miss you too, Jack,"
The next day...Rachel's POV....After having breakfast with my mom, I start to do the dirty dishes since I still have some spare time before Alex arrives. After I finished with dishes, I was about to check my bag and when I hear a loud honk coming from outside. "Who is that?" ask my mom.The thought of Alex suddenly came across my mind. I let out a sigh. "Just my friend who promised to pick me up." "Ah ok," says mom. "Is he your boyfriend?""No. We literally just met at college," I say. "I gotta go now. Bye mom!"I grab my blue bag from the living room and walk out of the door to see a black car parked in front of my house. The car window slolwy opens as Alex gives me a sassy wink."Good morning, Gorgeous!" says Alex with a bright smile.I roll my eyes at his cheesy greeting. "Yeah, good morning," I say as I open the car door to enter and sit next to him. "So did you sleep well last night?" Alex ask as he keeps his vision on the road as he drives."Yes," I say. "How about you?" I
A few hours later...At the boys' house..."Chicken omelette is served," says Liam after he finished cooking some dishes for dinner along with Nate."The smell is already alluring me," says Nate as he puts a plate of stir fried vegetables on the dining table.Just then, the door bell rang and Nate decides to walk and open the door. Alex walks in with bags full of groeceries in his hands."Bro, you're back," Nate says. "Yeah, these are the groceries," says Alex as he walks to the kitchen area to put down the groceries.Alex puts down the groceries in the kitchen as he starts to sort them out. He had put aside a bag of vegetables since he knew Liam wanted to cook stir fry vegetables as well for tonight. After putting the groceries away, Alex wash his hands and walks back to the living room. He notice that Jack is not in sight, though it's almost dinner time."Where's Jack?" ask Alex with curiousity."Oh, he went out to pick up Rachel," says Liam as he starts preparing the plates."What
"Jack," I say, fear starting to take over my voice. "Someone's here..."Jack pulls away with a puzzled look. "Who's here?" he ask with confusion."There's a man behind you. He's wearing a black cap and a mask," I say in a low tone, fearing that if I talk too loud, the man could hear us. "I think he's a friend of the stalker..."Jack turns his head to observe the beach and notice the guy is standing not far from them. He looks like he's smoking as he watches the waves."Hold my hand. Let's get out of here before he starts trouble," says Jack as he holds my hand tightly. "Yes," I say.The two of us starts walking out of the beach. Just when we almost reach our car, the man from the beach suddenly walks in front of us covering our way along with his friend, who is none other than the creepy stalker I saw a few days ago."Well, well, look at the kid," says the man with a wicked tone."Rachel, hide behind me," Jack says in a whisper tone. I slowly hide behind his back.I could feel footst
At the boys' house...Alex and Rachel arrives at the house. The two of them starts walking to the kitchen to make dinner, which Rachel insisted that she wants to help Alex with cooking."What are you cooking?" Rachel ask as she watches Alex mixing up some vegetables and chopped chickens."I'm trying to stir fry vegetables with seasoned chickens," says Alex as he continues to stir fry the vegetables and chickens."Looks good," says Rachel as she continue to stir some eggs on a bowl, since she's planning to make a sponge cake for dessert."Well, not as good as you," Alex says as he turns his head for a moment to give Xiali a wink. This guy is such a flirt. Rachel thought as she roll her eyes. "You always know how to smooth talk, even when you're cooking," Rachel says while continueing to stir the eggs in the bowl."I'm not smooth talking though. I'm just saying what's in my heart," Alex says with a sassy tone."Yeah right," says Rachel as she puts a spoon of sugar to the bowl. "And you
8 AM...Las Vegas...At Skylight Hotel...Sebastian stretches his arms out as his eyes flutters open. He puts his hand on his head as he slowly sits up and observe his surroundings. Though he still has a bit of a headache, he remembered well how did he eventually got to this place in the first. It's a good thing he is pretty strong with drinks, otherwise he could have forgotten about last night. Suddenly he hears the bathroom door open, revealing Olivia walking out of the bathroom while wearing a bathrobe."Rise and shine," says Olivia with a smile as she walks over to the bed to sit next to Sebastian. "Do you still have a headache?""A little, but it'll get better," says Sebastian. "What about you?""I'm way better now. I didn't drink too much last night," says Olivia as she rest her head on Sebastian's shoulder. "I wouldn't wanna get too drunk. I have to control myself." Sebastian smiles at Olivia. "That's good. You wouldn't wanna end up like me in a way. Hangover sucks.""Haha, th

Rachel ask with a smile."I'm fine," says Alex. He starts to stare at Elise who had been moving around her mother's arms. "Ah, Elise, calm down," says Rachel as she puts the glass of orange juice on the table beside her and tries to calm the feisty toddler in her arms.Alex chuckles at the sigh of the child being a little too feisty in her mother's arms. He thought it is really cute. "She's beautiful.""And feisty at times," Rachel says as she sees that Elise is about to cry. "Just like you," says Alex with a bit of a flirty tone. He eventually realize that he probably just flirted her. Rachel's face starts to tur

I came to a conclusion that it was impossible to tell the biologial father of my child, knowing that he's engaged and will get married af

Alex leads me to the garden to have a private talk, away from the boys.We enter the garden and close the door of the house. The two of us standing as we look at each other face to face. It's been a while since we last have some alone time together."So, what is it?" I ask him.Alex looks down on the ground with a guilty look. His face looks like he's trying to put together the right words to explain. "I just want to apologize to you. I should have told you about what I'm going through in the first place," Alex says. "I shouldn't have lied to you about it."I let out a sigh as I stare at Alex with disappointment and shock. I didn't expect him to apologize to me this way, and that it was done unexpectedly. Honestly, I'm still disappointed by him, but looking at him tonight face to face reminds me on how much
Rachel's POV...I froze as I see a woman and four men wearing all black standing in front of Sebastian and I. The woman had been throwing evil glances at me, which creeped me out. "Mom, what are you doing here?" Sebastian ask the woman. No way, this creepy woman is his mom? I wasn't ready to hear that."What did you think made me come all the way here in the middle of the night?" the woman stares at Sebastian with a sharp look. "You have to stop acting so innocent, son. It's discgusting!" "Mom...let's talk...""There's nothing to talk about! You got the girl and the time is up!" the woman, slightly screams at the last part of the sentence. "Get her to the car, boys!""Mom, don't do this!" Sebastian says as he tries to cover me from the four men who are approaching us. The four men quickly pushes Sebastian to the side and drags me off the bed. I tried to escape their grip but for a girl to fight over the power of four men was too hard. Suddenly I felt a sharp sting on my arm, realiz
Jack's POV...I stopped running when I realize that I had lost Rachel in the crowd. Damn, this is dangerous! That girl is being after by a mysterious criminal, and she just ran away due to a heart break. This is a disaster.I quickly grab my phone from my pocket. I tried to call her a few times but she didn't pick up. I sigh as she didn't answer my 5th call. Realizing that she's not gonna pick up my calls anytime sooner, I decided to call the guys. I put my phone back in my pocket. I was about to walk through the large crowd, when I almost bump into a couple who are holding their ice creams. It's Alex, and his girlfriend, obviously."Jack!" Alex looks at me with a surprised look. He looks like he is frozen to death as his eyes widens at the sight of me. I guess he didn't want me to caught him like this? Whatever."I'm surprised to see you here," I stare at him with a sharp look, and feeling way too irritated. I would have smack him right now for making Rachel ran away, but I had to l
At Weston University....Rachel and Sebastian are sitting in class listening to the lecture, when they hear the sound of the door opening, leading the whole room to have their attention to the person who enters. It's Alex.Alex walks over and sits next to Rachel. "Hey, sorry I'm late," Alex says with a bit of a worried tone."No worries," Rachel says with a smile, finally feeling better that she is able to see her boyfriend sitting next to her.Sebastian starts glancing at the couple who is now smiling at each other. He felt a weird feeling in his chest running around and making his heart feel hurt. To him, it's funny how he was disappointed too much that Alex arrived to college today when he was getting some time with Rachel. Somehow it makes him feel....jealous.A few hours later...At the cafeteria..."So how's your training?" Alex ask."Good. My shooting is getting way better, as well as my fighting skills," Rachel says with a confident tone."Well, you have to thank the boys for
Rachel's POV....I stood in silence as I find myself surprised to what I just heard."Alex..." "I know it sounds surprising, to ask you to join a gang. I promise I won't let anyone lay a finger on you. I'll teach how to fight and even shoot. I just don't want you to get into danger out there," Alex says as he stares deeply into my eyes."Alex...it's all so sudden. The guys, will they be ok with that?" I ask."They are all welcomed to have you! We even asked our leader, Chad, and he was happy with the idea," Alex says. "He's been wanting to find female members for the squad." I stood in silence as I stare into Alex's eyes with mixed feelings. Though I would still be surprise if I ever find myself becoming a part of a gang, yet a part of me really wanted to join. Why? Not only because I want to spend every time with Alex (yeah, I do). But other than that, I also want to learn how to protect myself. I want to fight for myself, and I want to know who were the people that took away my ha
Rachel's POV...Alex and I are now in class as all the students are listening to the lecture. After what happened between me and Sebastian earlier, I couldn't consenstrate at all. My mind is lost. Alex notice how I had been spacing out during class."Rachel, are you ok?" Alex ask with his signature soft voice."Yeah, just spaced out," I say casually.Alex gives me a concern look before holding my hand, making my heart skip a beat. Even the slightest touch from him always makes me feel better. When I'm around him, I always feel safe and comfortable. "Don't stress too much," Alex says as he holds my hand firmly. "You're safe with me." I smile as I turn my head to his direction. "You always know how to make me feel better," I say."Well, you're my favorite thing to learn about," says Alex as he forms a flirty smile at me."A thing?" I ask with a playful tone."And person. You are my favorite person to learn about." Alex starts carressing my hand softly, making me form a shy smile.A fe
Alex's POV....My eyes slowly flutters open as I hear the sound of crying from a familiar voice. I see Rachel crying on my right side while kneeling down beside the bed. She has her face covered with her arms placed on his bed as she cries."Rachel?" I say as I stare at her who is crying beside me.Rachel turns her head and is surprised to see that I am awake. She wipes her tears with her thumb as she stares at with a shocked look."You're...you're ok?" Rachel ask with a surprised look. I knew she had been crying for a while since her hazel eyes looks really puffy. The thought of her crying for me actually made my heart broken. I never wanted to see Rachel crying, especially because of me. "I'm ok," I say as I stare into her beautiful eyes that are filled with tears. The sight of it already kills me slowly. "Don't cry. I'm alright.""You are hurt! Just look at you," Rachel says. She starts to study the bruises on my arm like the typical over-protective mother."These bruises just nee
