Chapter 63

Robert froze completely.

The silence seemed endless. There was no sound but Robert's harsh ragged breathing and the soft ticking of the clock on the wall. The only other noise that could be heard besides the ticking came from Vicky's own heavy breathing. Her body quivering with anxiety as she awaited Robert's response.

Robert stood up and stared at Vicky, stunned. It took him about 30 seconds to find his voice, but when he did it was hoarse.

"You want me to marry you?" He asked, staring directly at Vicky.

Vicky shook her head. "Yeah, exactly what you heard."

Pulling himself from doing something stupid to her, he calmed down and said, "okay."

Victoria didn't believe her ears, it was too good to be true. Robert accepted to marry her, just like that? Something was not right but she didn't really care.
