First encounter

​I blinked a few times as if trying to process what had just happened to me. After getting scolded by Trisha, who couldn't stop pointing out my flaws of not knowing how to keep my job despite being beautiful and intelligent, I decided to go out and loosen up a little.
​I was too exhausted to stay in bed and stare at the ceiling, wondering where it went wrong. Like always, I was never alone. I invited my best friend, my partner in crime, and the only woman who understood me for me. She never judged me and always supported me, even when I was wrong. That was Christina for you. I called her Chris for short, and she was one hell of a friend, although she was a two-timer.
​“So let's get this straight… some bitchy hussy called my friend names… in front of old men and threw you out?” Chris said as if she didn't get what I just told her. We had gotten to our favorite bar, “Kill 'Em Drinks,” a funny name for a bar, but the name complimented the person who owned it.
​A sluggish, nearly old man with gray hair, which he dyed black to look young and deceive his female customers; a flirty old fool who wooed helpless women into his bed after tricking them. He was a divorced man but told people he was single. However, that wasn't my concern because Jerry, as we called him, was nice to us, mainly because my brother was the hottest man he had ever seen.
​Back to my problem with getting fired, it was just like any other time I got fired from work. There was nothing new for Chris to be surprised about; I was known for that. Samantha Morgan was a cursed being.
​“Look here, I… I was fired; that’s it. Can we move on now? It’s like you want me to start my periods again when they just ended,” I said in an irritated voice as I raised the beer bottle I had in my hand in the air, sizing up the remaining alcohol like a detective.
​I was serious, but Chris found my statement funny as she burst out in laughter. Her voice was loud, which attracted people’s stares as they glanced at us as if we were aliens. Of course, my friend didn't give a damn as she flipped her hair like a boss and took a sip of wine.
​"Eww, Sammy, periods are gross, but I’d love it if you could go through them again,” she said as if it was the greatest topic two teenage girls could talk about in public. But with me and Christina, anything was possible. We acted like kids and did things that normal women our age didn’t do because we were free to do as we wanted.
​“Look here… I won’t seek employment. I won’t move my ass from my bed unless someone comes to me and hands me a contract to sign,” I lamented lazily, my eyes getting blurry by the minute, and I knew I was getting tipsy. I would have hit the dance floor and danced my heart out, but that was out of the question when people were starting to assume I was cursed.
​“Don't say that. Charlie will fix it… He’s capable.” Like always, my friend never went a day without mentioning my older brother. I’ve put a rule in place since the first time we became friends: no hitting on my twin brother.
​It was awkward having my friend dating my brother, talking about getting married. But look how that got me: I was single. I loved being single and didn’t dream of being in a relationship. And she was not; she was engaged to the worst man the universe could offer her. At first, I asked her to say no to him and leave him, but where did that get me? They had been engaged for a year, and I had no idea when they were going to get married, not like I was eager to be the bridesmaid or anything.
​“Come on, stupid… this is serious… you need to end this and… oh my… oh my… oh baby.”
​See what I said? Chris was nothing but a two-timer. She pretended to be loyal to me, but she got distracted so easily. I would rather not follow her gaze to whoever she was looking at, but I couldn't help it. I just couldn't as I tilted my head to the entrance of the bar, and damn.
​I had the hottest brother. He was perfect in every way. His dirty blonde hair hung over his forehead as if he had taken a shower and didn't bother to style it, which made him look irresistible. His perfect abs showed in the white muscle shirt he was wearing, complimenting his blue faded jeans he was wearing with the black canvas shoes that made him look like some dairy ad.
​He was tall for his age, and sometimes people thought we weren't twins, mainly because we didn't look alike. I narrowed my eyes as I stopped when my brother turned to someone. He was talking to another tall man. This one had brown hair, which I could see, although it was dark with flashing lights. He was tall with broad shoulders like Charlie's; however, he was a lot hotter and dressed in all black. The way he had his sleeves folded to his elbow, showing his strong arms, had me amazed.
​I shifted my eyes to Chris, and she was gawking at my brother, nearly drooling with her mouth open as if it were the first time she was seeing him.
​“For fuck's sake, quit drooling on me!” I snapped as I used my hand and slammed her mouth shut, getting her back to her senses. She turned to me and started behaving like a teen who just saw her crush walk in.
​“He's here… I mean, do I look okay? We are supposed to go on a date, but then you called me here… I had no choice but to come… Oh, I feel hot and sweaty… Is it ruining my makeup?” I was frustrated as I heard Chris mutter. As if my brother were a big deal, she was saying things that made no sense and even failing to breathe until I put my hand on her mouth to shut her up, and she did.
​“Shh… keep calm, sweetheart… it’s just my brother. He's not a king but an ordinary man… now stop embarrassing me!” I hushed her, whispering the words, as she nodded at me. People sitting close to us were looking at us with disdain in their eyes, and I didn't care.
​“Hello, girls… hello, baby.” That sounded like a nightmare. The king of darkness showed up, and my friend was about to collapse as I saw her face turn red. She was blushing and acting like a shy teen. Charlie only winked at me and turned his entire attention to Chris, and both sealed their lips as they kissed passionately as if they were at home.
​“Get a room, for fuck's sake!” I lamented with irritation and got up from my seat. I slammed the bottle on the counter and took my purse. It was cemented: Chris and Charlie had a date, and they were engaged, for that matter.
​I sighed as I left from there, heading to the lady’s restroom before I headed back home. I was wearing a short, sparkly chiffon dress that reached mid-thigh and stuck to my large curves, making my ass appear round and huge. My hair was in an up-do as I walked without looking where I was going, only to gasp as I suddenly hit something—more like a person—and whatever that person had spilled on me, drenching my dress together with the purse in my hands as the liquid dripped down the floor.
​“Damn it,” I muttered as I looked up to see who it was that would dare do such a thing. I thought the person would apologize, but hell no.
​“Look here, baby… I'm already here at this shabby bar and won't wait for so long.” The same person who bumped into me spilled his alcohol on me and walked away without apologizing—forget that, the person didn't even look at me.
​“Hey!” I yelled in anger as I rushed to the tall man dressed in all black. He looked like the man I saw earlier talking to my brother, but seeing such a man without manners, I knew he wasn't my brother’s friend.
​“Talk to you later,” the man said to whoever he was talking to on the phone, and turned to me. I was stunned to see his face. He was handsome without even trying. His eyes were something else, and his thin lips complimented his face.
​I would rather not admire him further. Hence, I shook my head to get it together as I stood my ground.
​“Apologize for this,” I told him straight, showing him what he did to me. He ruined my dress. His look, as well as his aura, was something I didn't like. He was too cheeky for my liking. His expression was of disdain as he scanned me from head to toe as if I were nothing. His gaze was sharp and carried interest, as if he was pleased with what he saw. I noticed a small smirk tugging at the corners of his lips that had me feeling irritated as I snapped my fingers in front of his face.
​“The restroom is there. Wash your dirt,” he said cheekily and turned to walk away, which had me even angrier as I strode to him, reaching his front in three strides. I took the other beer bottle he had in his hand and poured it down his head, shocking him as I emptied the entire liquid on him and handed the empty bottle back to him.
​“Wash your dirt.” I leaned to his face and whispered the same words he used on me, flipped my hair off my shoulder, and smirked at him before I elegantly walked away, leaving him rooted in one place, shocked.
